It was a normal day in Beacon Academy, birds chirped carefreely as the sun started to rise from beyond the horizon.

A few early risers could be seen on campus walking, talking, and other usual student activities. Amidst them, however, was a rare sight:

Ruby Rose, notorious oversleeper, was walking merrily while carrying a rather large box carefully, with the widest grin ever plastered on her face.

"It's finally here~" Ruby giggled excitedly as she hummed contentedly to herself as she walked down the hallway. She had to physically hold herself back from using her semblance and speeding the entire way through, partly because she didn't want the box' contents to be damaged and partly because she was scared of getting scolded again.

A few minutes of walking later, Ruby found herself finally reaching her team's dorm. She slowed down to a stop in front of her room and gently placed the package on the ground. "There we go..."

She dug into her pockets, fishing for her keys, which she swiftly found and used to unlock the door and open it, revealing her three team and roommates.

Weiss was sitting on her bed, Mystenaster in hand as she carefully cleaned her blade. When she heard the door open, her attention went to Ruby briefly before returning to her weapon.

"Welcome back." She said just loudly enough for Ruby to hear.

Blake was laying down on her bed, a rather thick book nestled snugly in her hand as she flipped through its pages in a lax manner. Just like Weiss did, she turned her head to face Ruby for a moment before going back to her book.

"Hey." She said simply.

Yang, however, was still sleeping, she was curled on her bed, her body and her blanket intertwined in a tight mess. She snored softly as she hugged one of her pillows.

"It's finally here!" Ruby squealed enthusiastically as she gently put the box down in the middle of the room.

"hm...?" Came a sleepy sounding groan from Yang's bed, from which the same was seen sitting up while rubbing her eyes, her hair somewhat disheveled. "What's here...?"

"The parts I ordered for Crescent Rose!" Ruby answered almost the moment Yang finished her question, not diverting her eyes from the package as she quickly ripped it open to reveal...

"Eh?" The scythe wielder let out a confused noise as she looked at the small projector inside the otherwise empty. She looked blankly at it for a moment, as if trying to magically transmutate it into what she wanted it to be.

"Where's the parts I ordered!?" She despaired as she searched the inside, outside and even under the box, but there was no sign of anything she ordered. She even checked the recipient tag, and sure enough, her name was on it.

"What? Got scammed again, Rubes?" Yang, now fully awake, glanced at the panicking girl with a mix of concern and amusement in her eyes.

"I think so, Yang..." Ruby sniffled softly, a few tears prickling at the edge of her eyes as she nodded in affirmation. She reached out for the projector to show her sister what had arrived instead of her order, only to find it was unnaturally heavier than it appeared to be "What the-"

"The box wasn't this heavy..." The short-haired girl mumbled in confusion as her brows furrowed slightly. Tentatively, she tried to lift the box, which she succeeded in doing with ease. Her confusion only grew when she took the projector out of the box with much more difficulty than when it was inside the package.

"You good, Rubes?" Yang asked, entertained by how her sister seemed to be confused by what, to her, was your average domestic appliance.

Before the befuddled girl could respond, though, the device phased through her hand and fell to the ground without making a sound.

"Eek!" Ruby freaked out and jumped away from the small mechanism in fear, feeling the hand that was holding it to see if it was still solid.

At this point, Weiss and Blake looked at their leader in surprise while Yang rushed to her sister's side, worry evident in her face.

"Ruby, are you alright?" The bombshell blonde asked, gently caressing the short-haired girl's back, trying to soothe her.

Ruby let out a sigh as she nodded, the shock having had passed by then. Still, she flexed her hand one more time, just to confirm she wasn't becoming a ghost.

The projector suddenly came to life, shedding light onto one of the walls of the room. Despite the fact that the lights were on, and sunlight peeked into the room from the window, the black screen projected was clear as day.

Everyone was immediately on edge, bodies tense and ready to move the moment danger presents itself.

The machine whirred softly for a moment before stopping abruptly and displaying color onto the wall.

A map of Remnant was shown, tattered and old-looking, exhibiting the borders of the four kingdoms in their full glory. However, the edges of the map were slowly burning and turning into ash, revealing a void that slowly approached the dry land.

"Is this some sort of elaborate threat?" Yang growled lowly, she unconsciously held her breath and clenched her fists harder as she prepared to move.

The rest of the team also tensed up even more, with Ruby and Blake preparing to rush and request backup while Weiss readied her weapon, in case any enemy invaded their dorm room.

Thankfully, the only thing that happened was that the image faded away, being replaced by what seemed to be a boot sequence.
