In a field riddled with craters and chasms, while a hastily built arena was barely hanging on. were two figures in the center of the destroyed landscape. One wreathed in primordial light, yet slowly fading into thin air. Whereas the other, the Terrarian. Wore ruined armor. One that was made from rock that was laced with the ancient draconic power from the corpse of the Dragon of Rebirth, Yharon.
He looked at his surroundings and saw, weapons of all make, ranging from swords, guns, and all the sort. These weapons. Ones designed to kill the Gods, were now strewn across the battlefield, broken and shattered. Yet one was more noticeable due to the Terrarian holding it. A shattered remnant of The Ark of The Cosmos, a blade meant to rend Gods asunder. Fractured and dull.
In fact, it looked quite similar to when he first made the weapon. He dubbed it the Fractured Ark, he didn't expect the name to stick until the end though.
He looked towards the Traitor Almighty, Xeroc.
Originally a monk serving the king of dragons Zeratros. He had taken his Auric soul and consumed it. And ascended as the First God. Granted the king of dragons. And the dragons overall were gravely injured due to the strength that the Moon Lord originally had before being weakened by them and being banished to the moon.
The dragons were supposed to be laid to rest on the dragon aerie so that they might return. But Xeroc renounced their sworn oath and broke the cycle, becoming a traitor without equal. Word of the ascension spread quickly. Many attempted to follow suit, hoping to claim an Auric soul for themselves to ascend as Gods.
But now... The First God was now fading into nothing. Just like the others that met The Terrarian in battle. They died, but the Terrarian didn't feel joy. He instead thought about what would come next. He had done his duties and ended this era. Bringing forth a new one he could not care about. He walked to his weapons and put them in his inventory. One he discovered while learning magic during his earlier days. He sighed as he picked up the last of the weapons.
He was tired.
And one could not blame him. He had started this fight hours ago, and frankly. He was spent. He never got any time to breathe, no time to think. And don't mention that he couldn't have kept it up if he hadn't stocked up on supplies.
His legs giving in to the fatigue, the Terrarian lay on the ground as he thought about how he wanted to go back to the time he didn't know much from when he first woke up in Terraria and enjoy the little things that he could not experience until now. The Terrarian thought about it and smiled.
'Maybe get some more friends... Not that the townspeople aren't already.' He looked towards the already faded corpse of Xeroc.
'Though maybe not everything that was told was true.' He remembers every time he challenged that damning challenge he was called unworthy, though it seemed it came from some place of worry.
He picked up his cellphone and tried to teleport home to begin living his days without worrying about the world being destroyed fully, not like it wasn't already with that genocide. Though the keyword was 'tried'. Unbeknownst to him. It seemed the cellphone malfunctioned due to its less than stellar state.
A Small Change in Scenery.
That's all the Terrarian noticed as he stood up in his ruined armor.
In fact, he doesn't even know where he is. He simply appeared in this forest; his map on the cellphone, a map that he painstakingly made didn't even function, all the Terrarian remembered before waking up was him teleporting back home after beating Xeroc. He doesn't even recognize the trees! They looked entirely different compared to the ones he remembers in Terraria.
'Great, just my luck to wake up in yet, ANOTHER unfamiliar place. Man, it's just like that time I found myself in that crimson patch.' The Terrarian thought as he looked around the forest in which he appeared in.
He always wondered how the remnants of the gods could corrupt an entire landscape. He thought towards the Tyrant, Yharim. Well... He wouldn't really call him a Tyrant. It felt more fitting to call him The Jungle Tyrant. It just felt familiar. Anyway, Due to the careless handling of the remnants of the Gods essences. The Crimson and Corruption were created. At first, he didn't know the crimson existed at all when he first explored the world. But due to a teleportation potion he had drank out of curiosity, he had found himself next to a perforator cyst along with a cave leading into the inner bowels of the crimson in front of him.
He was utterly disgusted the moment he saw it. He remembered vomiting on the cyst, luckily it didn't get the perforators to attack.
The Terrarian shook his head. 'Anyway, enough thinking. I should probably figure out where I am, because it certainly isn't in a place, I remember venturing in. Because I would surely remember these trees while I was still exploring heavily, that's for sure.'
He started inspecting the surrounding area, hoping that maybe he would find some sort of clue on where he was 'Maybe it was on the outer edges of Terraria's continent like, what town was it again? Journey's end? I think it was? I forgot...' The Terrarian mentally apologized to the townspeople that lived there.
After a couple more hours of inspecting the forest that surrounded him, he concluded 'I am not close to any town, that's for sure. Though I do wonder where this cellphone sent me to?'
The more he thought about how he ended up here, he got more confused on how the cellphone malfunctioned when it was one of the more how you say? Intact? Yeah, intact items he had after he fought Xeroc, which leads to his question. 'Where on Terraria is this place?'
He shook his head. That was a thought for another time he should find a way out of the forest before night comes
'I don't want to fight hundreds of zombies and demon eyes right now they are way too annoying. And speaking of enemies...' The Terrarian, now noticing a few red eyes hiding in the surroundings, grabbing a plain platinum sword from his inventory. He, of course, decided to attack the red eyes first.
A few seconds later, he slashed the last of the black wolves. As he puts the sword back in his inventory, the corpses disintegrate into smoke, seeing that, he began trudging through the forest again. Not questioning why, after all the zombies and demon eyes exploded into those "gibs." He always wondered how that happened.
After that thought passed, he started walking through the forest again, hoping that nighttime doesn't come too fast and hoped that these monsters don't appear too often, seeing as killing these monsters were going to eat up a lot more time than he'd think.
'Let's see...3PM, alright I got time before night falls, maybe I should find a place to set up camp in so I can fix this cellphone.' The Terrarian worriedly said as he looked at the cracked cellphone. It took him months to make one, he'll be damned if he has to find the materials for another one.
The Terrarian looked down and remembered about the broken armor he was wearing, seeing this, he inwardly groaned almost accustomed to this sight after every major fight.
'Should check up on my gear before I break them more than they are.' They were more than serviceable considering that he didn't have to fight any major enemies right now, but he didn't want to risk breaking the armor like he did the others during the fight.
He decided to take off his armor and put it in his inventory, before immediately switching his outfit to the one he usually wears when he isn't off fighting Gods or monsters. It's not as good at defending him, sure. But it was more comfortable wearing it. And besides the wolves aren't as strong as he expected to be.
'I should find time to put them in the bestiary.'
After a bit of time studying the mushrooms in the forest, he continued his walk to find the exit of the forest, sometimes he stopped to see if any of those monsters were back, considering the silence and the lack of animals in the forest was not one he liked.
He wondered if the animals went into hiding thanks to some predator. Then again, he has been killing some of those wolf looking things a fair number of times while he was walking through the forest so maybe those things drove them away?
A few hours later...
'Is that a road? Oh, sweet it is a road! Now it's time for me to find a town!' The Terrarian exited the forest that he spent hours in. And was filled with joy, considering the fact it took him hours to just find an open road that lead somewhere.
'Though considering what happened I shouldn't be too happy about it.' The amount of times he came across a ruined town was innumerable.
But even so, he grinned. Simply happy that he could sleep somewhere that wasn't in that forest. He was tired of sleeping in random spots in the forest that weren't in a comfortable house. Though he doesn't really care about it too much, it would just feel better if he had slept in a house, even if it isn't in the best condition.
But he'd very much rather sleep in a forest than an alleyway in an actual town with people. Where he could get very easily robbed of his possessions. Then again, he had his inventory, so he doesn't really see the issue too much.
'Maybe mapping out that forest wasn't the best idea.' Shifting his thoughts into something else the Terrarian, perhaps instinctually. Decided to map out almost the entirety of the forest, conveniently missing the side of the forest which had a road leading somewhere that was most likely a town. He came to discover that the forest he was teleported to was huge while doing so.
He thought about it a little more. While he never really liked to leave unknown areas unmarked, it would be bad if he got lost in them again, after all. It seemed to work against him this time. Seeing how it took him more time than he would just going in one direction. But considering the path he had found exiting the forest. He was fine with this outcome
After walking on the path for a bit, he felt his stomach growl. He hoped that the way he was walking led to a town. He also hoped that it wouldn't be in the other direction. The number of times which he got lost thanks to him going the opposite way was astounding.
'Now that I think about it. I should probably find a way to quit. I've done my job, now it's time for others to fix what I and the Gods broke and possibly make Terraria a better place.'
The Terrarian, after all the not so enjoyable adventure, thought deeply about it. After a couple of minutes of walking and thinking he thought 'Why not?' And he decided to quit and live a simple life here, finally taking a break from the constant near death experiences on the daily and finally enjoy what he first lost.
A normal life.
Contrary to popular belief. The Terrarian did not just pop up out of nowhere. He had a relatively normal life until he woke up in the forest and started his journey as the Terrarian.
'Yeah, this feels nice. It feels great to not have to beat up monsters in the daily. And considering all the destruction that the Gods and I caused during our fights... This is definitely better for them.' The Terrarian again, mentally apologized to the poor souls who will have to eventually fix those craters.
'Maybe I should've fixed those craters before heading off to fight The Traitor almighty.' The Terrarian sweated at the thought of not being able to at least pay the poor souls. He never liked leaving the damage he caused, to be fixed by other people. It didn't feel quite nice to him leaving that job to others. Not that there was many people available to do it anyway..
Eventually, he found a small town with guards at the entrance at the end of the path. He momentarily pumped his fists in the air before quickly setting it back down, embarrassed he did that.
'I should really fix that habit of mine. Where did I even pick it up anyway?' The Terrarian thought as he walked.
He walked to the town slowly, the moon was up, and he knew that he should've started walking a bit faster, just so he didn't start encountering zombies and demon eyes. But he found that he couldn't. Thinking that. If the people, there would recognize him as the Terrarian he couldn't live as a normal person. He never liked being praised after all.
He took a second to look up and think, but he found himself looking at the moon, he didn't seem too phased for some unknown reason, almost as if he recognized the moon from somewhere.
'Well, I guess I shouldn't worry about the town over there recognizing me. Not like my face was that well known anyway.' He stared at the moon. Shattered, almost as if it was broken by a fight emerging on it. And by the moment he gazed at the moon; did he realize that he wasn't on Terraria anymore.
With a renewed sense of reasoning, and maybe, a slight worry about what happened to this planet's moon. He walked up to the town at a faster pace, he started to wonder if he needed to have an I.D of any kind, and if he did, how would he get one?
'Crap, I didn't think about that. Maybe this town doesn't need it, right? It seems far from any major city, or kingdom.' The Terrarian thought as he reasoned his thought down to a "Maybe I don't need one?"
Now, he was never good with people, so he wondered how he would introduce himself? Maybe a travelling merchant? A Traveller that wanted to find his sister? Or an adventurer, one that wanted to explore the area he was in right now? Maybe some random person from a remote town that he could make up, trying to find a new place to settle? Maybe as an amnesiac?
He shook his head and decided on the last introduction he had fabricated in his mind before he gets lost in thought again.
'Well... Here goes nothing.' He had finally reached the town's entrance... Before a dozen wolf-like creatures and a bear emerged from the nearby forest looking like some horror movie creation, catching the guards, along with him. Off guard.
'This is going to be long night, isn't it?' The Terrarian sighed, mentally preparing himself for yet another fight with these black wolves. Though he didn't really need to. Seeing as the guards were already off to fight them.
And he started to consider if his luck had magically disappeared today. He sighed as he tried to assess the situation before it gets any worse than it already has. Though, seeing the guards start fighting did lessen the burden seeing as how most of the townsfolk he had near his base was relatively weak.
'Then again. Nobody was really willing to be a guard.' Though that doesn't mean that they were completely defenseless.
He wasn't complaining though, seeing he mainly relied on his equipment during his battles, he was a bit more talented in fighting compared to the others but the only "real" reason why he specifically was the hero of Terraria was his keen intuition and weapon making skills.
Then again there weren't exactly thousands of hero's in the days of old seeing as people made names for themselves fighting an Eye of Cthulhu. Point is, he is just a human, and humans are not Gods. Getting hit means death for most cases. Especially when it comes to foes that are even somewhat as strong as the Devourer. 'I'm getting off track.' He shook his head.
Now, turning back to the current events, the fomer hero looked on to the scenery, guards rushing out of the town with spears and swords in their hands, some didn't even have armor. Taking the time to look at the guards that were currently fighting, he had noticed that the number of monsters grew.
'Guess I should help, even if I'm an unknown, though, I'm not too sure if they'll let me join in.' The former hero looked at his attire and noted that most would suspect he was a civilian, he wouldn't blame them either, but that didn't matter to him. As he was about to start walking towards the battlefield he heard a woman shout out to him.
He should get some leather or wooden gear later. He doesn't bring all his armor after all especially since all of his inventory is about to burst. Even the alternatives like a safe! The Terrarian supposed he has to do it the way he used to before he had the inventory.
"Hey, Mister! What are you doing outside, it isn't safe out here!" A guard shouted out, fresh from killing one of the beasts, he didn't quite hear it, his mind was thinking about other things so he just chose to ignore it in exchange of analyzing the battle he had noticed more and more beasts appearing after all, it seemed as though something was attracting them.
The Terrarian looked around, wondering if there was something attracting them, though in doing so, the guard looked increasingly worried. Coincidentally, more and more beasts started running out of the forest.
"Hey, Mister! What are you doing outside, it isn't safe out here!" I shouted out to the man standing near the gate of the town, not even looking remotely scared. In fact it was the opposite, he seemed calmer than almost everyone here.
Shaking my head, I ran up to him, hoping that I could convince him to enter the town. The way he carries himself seemed that he was very tired, yet seemingly carrying an air of experience. 'He looked around to 20? 30? years old a bit shorter than captain, which reminds me where is she?'
I shook my head again. 'Enough thinking, all that matters right now is that I should get him out of here, in fact, he should've ran at the sight of the Grimm in front of him!' Noticing him looking around, I thought maybe he was looking for something, anything really. Seeing this I decided to speak to him.
"Sir, are you trying to find something important! We can try and find it after this!" I spoke out to him wondering if he was trying to find something, yet, he seemed to ignore me completely, almost like I wasn't there.
"Hey Saph! We got company, and they don't seem too friendly!" Lili shouted out. Talking about forgetting something, I also forgot I was fighting Grimm. Just great, what next a death stalker?
"Sir, you must get inside the town before you get hurt!" I chose to speak to him again, only to be ignored once more. "Sir?" He seemed to be looking somewhere. Where? I don't know, the only thing I could figure out was that he was looking at the growing Beowulf horde a long with some Ursa's sprinkled in there, frankly, I'm getting worried if the others can handle them on their own, but the real issue would be the strays getting past them to get into the town.
"Lili, I don't think we can just leave him here, we should escort him to the town." Looking over to Lili, I noticed the 8 dissolving beowolf corpses.
"Did you say something?" Lili spoke in pants, tired from fighting eight at the same time, especially since she didn't have her greatsword with her right now, and. 'Did I really take that long to talk to him? I didn't even hear the fight.'
I walked closer to her, to discuss about how we were going to deal with the man.
The former hero looked towards the guards he had not bothered to acknowledge before now, quite rude of him he must say. And considering the current situation, he should have at least acknowledged them. Thinking now was the right time to apologize, he walked towards them.
Though before he could speak, he noticed more of the black wolves rushing towards them, while they were certainly not that strong, seeing as how that guard took down 8 with a spear that seemed to barely hold on, they certainly have more numbers.
Though it seems they were talking to each other about something, something that must be really important for them to forget about the ongoing battle.
"Hey you two, there's more of them over there." He pointed to the direction the wolves were coming from.
Naturally they reacted. Faster than he expected normal guards would in a small town like this one. But, really, did he even know what this planet was like? All he knew So far were these wolves and bears. The mana here seemed much less potent compared to Terraria as well.
'Hmm, now that I think about it, they fight these monsters as if they fought these thousands of times. Are they as common as slimes in Terraria? 'I wonder how they came to exist?' The Terrarian, naturally used to weird and indescribable things such as, whatever Signus was supposed to be. The only real information he had on what he looks like, was the protruding tentacles on his back.
The guard that kept speaking to him, one he thinks was called Saph? He wasn't quite sure, so he'll just make up a title to call her by. And that other guard was called... he forgot, but he'll make sure to catch the next time she said her name. 'Though this fatigue sure ain't helping.'
'I'll just think of a name for her... how about. TEG?' He'll leave the other guard out of his horrible naming conventions, after all. He had just named TEG(The Enthusiastic Guard) by the aura that exudes out of her. Enthusiasm.
Anyway, he looked on towards the battle that TEG was in, just to see her barely dodge a swipe from the left by the same wolf creatures that he had killed in the forest from earlier. He wonders what they were called? As he was thinking the other guard in which was conveniently the only one in the battlefield to have hair colored Lilac, decided to pierce another wolf rushing to TEG with the spear she held, and as she was busy finishing off that poor wolf creature to death.
TEG went ahead and dodged yet another swipe from a wolf who ran at her without any regard for its life, unfortunately, there was another wolf behind her, but instead of outright trying to slash at her with it's claws, it instead decided to try and bite her head off.
Of course, she narrowly stopped it, but not without some difficulty, seemed like she was weaker physically than that Lilac girl. Though, she isn't as weak as he expected her to be. TGA pushed off the wolf and went to stab the one who swiped at her from before. The other wolf also got stabbed, this time by the other guard.
'Wonder how I haven't gotten attacked yet, I look like easy pickings.' He looked around the road, and while most of the wolf creatures were being held back by the majority of the guards, there were some strays around seeing as the two guards were still fighting.
He saw four more wolf creatures approaching them and just like what happened earlier they hadn't noticed them, mainly due to the fact they were still fighting the rest of the wolves. Thankfully, they seemed to have chosen him as their target.
"Fifty lien says I get two of them." As he looked towards the wolves, he heard TEG speak to who? Probably that lilac girl, but enough about them, he had more important matters right now, the former hero summoned his trusty platinum sword once more, he chose to keep it in his storage. It held a special place in his heart, not to mention that it was the best platinum sword that he made.
A wolf, planning to rip his face out with one of it's large claws, got denied as it's said claw was sliced off cleanly by a blade. Roaring in anger it decided to try and bite him, all the while another wolf decided to gash him with it's claws from behind as well. It seemed the other wolves went to the guard duo. 'I should try and learn their names after this.'
"Fifty says I get them all instead." He overheard one of them say as he lazily dodged both of the wolves attacks, causing both to hit each other mid attack, dazing them.
'Are they betting money, in a battle?' the former hero thought as he moved his sword to stab the other wolf that attempted to wound him, swiftly aiming for the head. As he did so the former hero pierced straight through the wolves skeletal helmet and going straight through it's brain. The handicapped wolf meanwhile attempted to get a hit once more.
Failing miserably, as he swiftly dodged the attack, only to immediately slice the wolf in half. 'Keep in note, I can cut them in half.'
"Wait a minute where did those two come from?!" TEG along with purple colored hair... girl, shouted, looking towards the sudden reinforcements of the wolves admittedly not much considering they were handling the battle easily enough that they started making bets with each other.
Seems that they also forgot about the "civilian" that they were talking to right before the fight. Conveniently it gave him time to wait for these corpses to disappear.
As he waited for the corpses to dissolve he saw TEG manage to redirect a wolf's claw into the ground, while pinning it's other claw to the ground with her spear. Only for her to immediately get pounced by another wolf. Fortunately, she saw the beast ahead of time and instead of being hit, dodged to her left.
"These Beowulf's are getting annoying!" Purp shouted as she finally pushed the assailant off and into the ground. Where she stabbed it in the chest, ending it's short? Life.
He watched as she did so and thought 'So these wolves were called Beowulf's. More creative than what I'd have called them' The Terrarian simply thought about how he named the creatures he fought. He still needed to revise most of the entries in the bestiary.
Hint: He named the trees he saw during the Pumpkin Moon the "Mourning Wood" for the simple fact that they looked like they were mourning for something. Funny at the time, not so much now. Especially because he noticed the accidental innuendo.
Though it feels like he heard the name before he called the trees that, but from where?
'Anyway enough thinking, I should start helping them.' As he looked towards the battle the guards were in he noticed that the two girls were getting increasingly more coordinated in their strikes.
He watched on as TEG and lilac girl went on to coordinate a strike on a Beowulf, to almost immediately switch on the another as they both alternate between each beast not giving much room for these so called 'Beowulf's' But it seemed that they aren't hitting them as hard as before.
As the former hero once again observed the battlefield he noticed something a bit weird. Namely a cloaked individual sprinting at the horde of Grimm near the main force of guards.
How the figure seemed to resemble Signus in a way was a bit weird to him. But considering that Signus was a good 10ft taller and good amount wider than the former hero. He decided it was just someone else, they didn't even have Signus's cosmic lantern.
The figure leaped and immediately jumped in right at the front of the battle once they got there. Cutting down every beast they saw, and considering the looks on the guards faces. It seemed they were quite feared. That or they were respected, considering how some of the guards looked.
'Interesting, better keep that guy in mind. Might have to avoid them.' The former hero looked on as he noticed a dozen or so guards exiting the town's gate, appearing more equipped than the guards that were here before.
'Seems like this town is bit more geared than... Journeys end? Was it?' Once again, the Terrarian mentally apologized, he was never good at memorizing names after all unless it was something super important.
As he was apologizing to the townsfolk, the two guards from before approached him, friendlier than before almost as if the attack by the monsters caused some pent-up stress to release while scolding him for his lack of speech.
'I should probably apologize to them as well.' The Terrarian felt bad not explaining anything at all to them. Though he wasn't quite sure how to word it. That and he has no knowledge of this world, or future really. The possibilities are quite numerous.
'Oh well. May as well make up some stupid reason on why I stood there, maybe saying I couldn't move my body, I don't plan on staying here too long anyway.' The former hero thought.
I walked up to the same man who didn't listen to my advice, and yet he was the one to scream like a madman?! I had to fight four Beowulf's, admittedly not that much but still! He should've run away into the town. Why is he still near the entrance?
"Sir why are you still near the entrance? Shouldn't you have entered the town and got checked up? What if you were injured?" I asked him, albeit not as professionally as I wanted to but the best I could do right now I'm tired right now.
"I appreciate the words but, it would take a lot more than standing there afraid of dying to injure me." He laughed as he scratched his head. He seemed... Off for some reason. Almost like he was hiding something, but then again that's probably just me acting up on instinct again.
'Though he did sure sound stiff.'
"Which reminds me why did you start a bet for 50 Lien during the middle of a fight? Wasn't that unnecessary? What if you and that other guard got hurt?" He looked at me with slight worry.
"It's fine sir, just small banter with my childhood friend."
"Yes, it was just casual banter with my friend. Nothing too serious." Lili walked up after giving a report to the captain. The captain seemed rude, but if you bother paying attention. You can tell how much she wants to protect this town from danger.
"Right I forgot to introduce ourselves!" I spoke out.
"I'm Sapphire Frost an aspiring huntress. And she's Lilac Steele. My best friend and possible fellow huntsress-in-training once we get to Beacon!" I introduced the man to my Oldest friend.
She's my childhood friend and we've been together for twelve years already. We met at five years old. I can't imagine a world without her being here, she's the role model the children loved. After all she has her aura unlocked, just like mine has, that's why we dealt with the Grimm so easily compared to some of the others, but.
She could barely enter beacon academy, same as me.
'From what I heard Beacon had a pretty scary entrance exam. I hope we both pass it'
"Casual banter with friends... How long has it been since I last talked with Andrew? really anyone?" The man muttered. I could barely hear him say it,
"Sir, If I-"
"Can you please, stop calling me sir? If anything I would like you to just call me by my... name" He cut Lili off with a request. That I personally agree with.
'Though there was a slight pause before he said 'name' Probably not too sure how to word it! That's it! I'm nervous like that too!' I thought, but there really isn't anything deeper than that. "Lili, it does get a bit tiring to hear it, don't you think?" Instead I just worded out my agreement to Lili.
"I guess it does Saph." Lili agreed, although with some hesitancy.
The Terrarian finally agrees with TEG or well Sapphire, on something, and that is him being called sir all the time!
He got tired of hearing it the first three times, so now that he can be addressed as someone other than just "Sir." Felt great to him.
"If I may ask, what is your name?" TEG, he forgot her name, this time however he did not apologize and simply thought of a "sorry for forgetting."
'Should I use my name for once? It's been so long I almost forgot.' He never did get to use his real name for the years he spent fighting gods.
It... felt nice for him to use his real name. No one really cared about his name too much. It didn't matter when it comes to fighting anyway and that was almost all he did during his time in Terraria. So, thinking about It a little he finally said his name after years of long work.
"Michael" He then felt immediately embarrassed cause he forgot his last name. He did not lie when he said he almost forgot his name.
"Your parents didn't follow the color naming rule, did they? And you don't have a last name?" TGA or Lili said, he didn't care enough to remember. After all he felt this would've been nice to know sooner. And judging by the way they spoke it was most likely Lili anyway.
"The what?" Michael felt that this would be a long night of explaining things.
As the two guards look at Michael. They seemed to look less surprised than what he would've initially thought. Did the other people that visited this town not know about this so called "Rule" of theirs?
'Wait... Why is naming people out of color's a rule?' He thought as the two guards seemed to be talking about something. He didn't know, he was a tad bit more focused on questioning the rule after all. Though there was something that he could catch.
"-nother one." Was all he could hear from them. Looks like he wasn't the only one it seemed, which got him into thinking... That is, if they allowed him time to think to himself. And as it so happens, the guards called him to follow them.
'Probably to escort me somewhere.'
Seeing as there was no reason to refuse, nor any danger that they could present to him. The former hero of Terraria accepted. As they were walking The Enthusiastic Guard decided to ask him a small question.
"How much do you know about Remnant. Michael?" TEG asked him, albeit it seemed she said it with some slight curiosity, for some unknown reason. Either way, he has to spin the truth a little bit, just to make sure that he won't be suspect.
He needs their trust so there's no problem until he can get a stable job
"Not much honestly. I just woke up in a forest in the middle of nowhere and I decided to try wander around, hopefully find a town. And I ended up here."
"Well, do you remember anything before that?" Lili decided to question him about something. And while it would certainly help if he could tell the truth, He doubts fighting Gods were a common thing here. Hell, even Terraria doesn't have that many Gods slayers, He could count them on both hands.
He decided to just tell her half the truth. He forgot who he was before his awakening in Terraria after all. He got some memories of his back though, mostly unimportant ones like him having a regular life that wasn't filled with gore or being burnt, but they still helped him remember himself. Or well... Who he was.
"Well, I barely know who I was myself. I just woke up in that forest and decided to try and exit it." The former hero of Terraria. Whilst in the middle of talking he realized that he simply woke to the sight of a forest. Twice. It was quite weird it happened twice, wasn't it? Though this time he didn't have a guide to help him. He had to thank Andrew for helping him.
Otherwise he'd be stumbling about and touch a bee hive.
"Amnesia? Looks like he isn't like them." He again. Overheard the whisper she directed to Lili. He seriously wondered at how bad they were at whispering. Although they were a lot quieter this time around.
'At least they learned to keep it down a bit more. They were so loud the last time they whispered.' Michael swore that the last time they whispered to each other was loud enough to be heard by others. Though they were still loud enough to be noticed by some of the guards closer to them.
"So, Michael. How did you exactly end up near our town? If I may ask, after all we are quite far from Vale." TEG decided to ask him another question.
"Oops, I mean... I'm sorry I forgot you were an amnesiac for a second." Gee... What a way to apologize. Though he's seen much worse. Andre was a great example.
What a weird sight to witness. An arms dealer giving a princess a gun.
"It's fine. Although I do have a question... What's Vale?" Thanks to his... amnesia, they told him about Vale. Said it was one of four of major kingdoms. He supposed those monsters halted most prospects in building another kingdom. And as Michael and the guards walked to the place he was being lead to. Which was most likely an interrogation room, they taught him more about Vale's history.
It was quite interesting now that he thought about it.
"-And that's Vale. Pretty cool right? Well then just wait until I start talking about Beacon academy!" I spoke to him. 'Does he enjoy history lessons? Oh well!' After all, I did truly enjoy educating people in things I know about!
"Seems cool." And then all the thoughts I had about his enjoyment disappeared immediately, as he replied with a tone so dry it could dry a desert. Did he fake listening to make me feel better? Or was he just that monotone? Either way he should know where we are now.
'Though... That amnesia is quite severe. He doesn't even remember what Dust or Lien is. Not even some of the essential knowledge, like the Grimm!'. The more that I think about it the worse it gets. He barely remembers who he is and doesn't remember anyone or anything else. But... The more I think about it. The more something feels off about this. How did he lose his memories again?
'Right. He just woke up in a forest. Though it just doesn't sound right. What Grimm would just leave him there, nevertheless, how he looked uninjured. There should be at least something that confirms his amnesia.' I stared at him. He seemed to be in deep thought. Curious.
'Wait I just remembered!' I stopped in my tracks
"Lili!"
"Yeah?" She replied. Confused.
"Where we supposed to lead him to again?!" I completely forgot we had to escort him somewhere! It seems he forgot as well. Judging the surprised look on his face was a surprise and not dissapointment.
"We were supposed to lead him to the captain!" Lili said nonchalantly. And the moment I heard her say that. I felt that something bad was about to happen.
"We are pretty close to her anyway." Lili continued.
"Well look who's late." The captain just appeared behind us, and I was terrified. She is a scary woman when she's mad after all. And it seems I was blabbing too much about history to notice the time pass by and it seems Lili lost track of time too.
'How do I get out of this one?!'
'These girls are just a wonder to be around, aren't they?' Michael thought as he looked at the captain of the guards. She looked like one of them, stereotypical, tough women that he always saw in those almost burnt magazines in Azafure. 'Though she isn't as bulky as some of them were she still has that vibe.'
He wasn't good at describing anything. Though... Considering the situation here. He thought that he should take this more seriously. Anyway, the captain had crimson hair. And clothing to match her. And the more he inspected her the more he realized. 'This place really likes their colors.'
'Man. I'm tired right now. Why did I have to get dragged into this. I just want to sleep already.'
Now the former hero was no stranger to these types of interactions. He was usually the one giving it after all. With new townspeople appearing and making sure they were friendly. But right now, he just wanted to find an inn, or maybe an alleyway to sleep in. His thoughts drifted on how exactly he could sell those platinum coins of his.
"Listen. This is the third person that we encountered who know nothing about Vale or remnant. Shouldn't you two have at least put your guard up with him?" That captain spoke sternly. Pair that with with an accent it would've reminded him of Ca- nobody. Nobody in particular came to his mind.
Sighing quietly. He watched as the two guards get scolded for being late with bringing him. He supposed that it was fair. It seemed two others were like him. Though they didn't use amnesia as a reason. So, he guessed that he was the first to use it. Not like he was fully lying anyway. 'That hooded guy probably was one of them and that means I should probably avoid them.'
"But Ma'am. He seems to have amnesia." TEG seemed to have come to his defense. He was surprised it was her, rather than that Lili girl. Though he did talk to her more than he did her, so.
"Really now? And you trust him? What if he was lying?" The captain brought up a very valid argument against my excuse.
"Quick! Say something about your amnesia!" TEG spoke to him. Probably to prove his innocence, how nice of her. As she spoke to him, there was a rather loud growling coming from his stomach. Everyone looked at him.
'I forgot about that. Well, it isn't the worst time I was hungry.' He could still remember being trapped in The Profaned Garden. Damned Goddess didn't let him leave till she died by his hands. He really should start focusing on things other than some old memories.
Pair that with Signus appearing after the fight was well and over and he was exhausted.
"I just woke up in the forest. How else could I prove my amnesia? And second of all. How would I know?" He genuinely wonders when they would leave him alone so he could sleep. He fought Xeroc for most of the day until he got teleported here. His adrenaline from before had already run out.
The captain looked at him, inspecting him to see anything that could prove his testimony guilty. But after that she spoke to TEG. "Sapphire... did you really ask a guy with supposed amnesia how he got it?"
Seeing the logic behind the statement. It seemed that TEG completely forgot about that, and it seemed she got embarrassed. Well now that he thought about it would be kinda embarrassing for her to ask a guy with no memories about how he lost it.
Deciding this was about a good time as any to ask that question about who those two other people were. "Excuse me, I have a small question." He asked with his hand raised.
"S-sure. Go ahead Michael." TEG who still seemed to be embarrassed about her mistake allowed him to ask the question, but before he could ask it they offered to go a restaurant seeing as everyone including him was hungry. Not like he would refuse anyway.
And as he followed them he decided now was a good time.
"You said, two others, right? Who were they?" Michael asked, genuinely curious who they were. Considering where he came from. It would be interesting to see other people from Terraria from here.
As he spoke, however. The three guards slowed down and looked at him. Though, judging by their faces it would seem the other two aren't too well known.
"Well... We don't know about them all too well. And we'll tell you if we know you're not here to harm anyone and besides, they are quite mysterious at times. Nevertheless they saved this town once so it's least we could do regarding their wishes" Lili replied and we started speeding up again.
"Okay." He decided to hold off on his question until they could trust him more. After all. Would he give information to a stranger he met just today. Especially since the people in question wished for their identity to be a secret. No, why would he?
"Anyway, we're here. A restaurant that serves the food that you may or may not have been hoping for." She spoke as we stopped and looked at the building. Seemed popular, seeing that there were quite a few people inside making so much noise that his drowsiness seemed to lessen. Only for it to immediately climb back up.
Probably due to his growing headache. He really wanted to sleep right now.
'But the food! I should hold out till I get food.' He was hungry and sleepy after this horrible day of adventure. He fought and killed Xeroc, got transported to Remnant, and now he has to maneuver his way to avoid being grouped up with those "Mysterious people" they mentioned.
As the group decided to sit down at a table. There was a moment of silence. Silence that he enjoyed so much that he decided to close his eyes for a bit. As he was drifting off to dream land. A voice woke him up. Michael was glad that they decided to wake him up. He needed that food after all.
He opened his eyes to see the waiter asking for his order. He looked at the menu and took a quick scan of it, before deciding to just get some chicken.
'Those eyes of his feel like those of a veterans.' I inspected him. And noticed how he carried himself, with major confidence. Almost as if he beat several enemies worthy of tearing this town in half, and yet. He seemed almost innocent to a degree.
'I should ask him a question. Nothing too serious but enough that it might get me answers.'
"Sir. If I may ask a question."
"Can you drop the honorifics. It gets terribly repetitive. And if so, I might answer your questions" His tone didn't match his words at all. While his tone was soft-spoken. Along with it being friendly enough that it almost made me second guess his intentions for this town. His words were arrogant. To say the least. It didn't match him.
"Oh sorry! I didn't mean to say it so arrogantly I just feel so tired and I didn't really think about it before. It's fine if you call me sir.' He retracted the statement he said before showing a great deal of guilt.
"Okay... Michael?" I wasn't quite used to calling others by their first name, so it felt awkward for me to say.
"That's better. So, what is your question?" He replied, though it seemed he was more eager for the food than my question, seeing as he looked towards the area where the kitchen was. Had he eaten anything before or after waking up in that forest? Was he poor before his amnesia? Anyway, I should just ask him this question.
"Did you sleep at all before you walked here?"
"Well, I did wake up in a forest, so I assumed I did sleep. Though if not, and I just woke up after being hit in the head a little too hard then that explains why I feel horrible." As he said that his stomach was right on queue to grumble loudly. I guess that explained why he felt horrible.
I asked some basic questions while we waited for our food, such as. How much Lien do you have currently? And how he didn't get attacked by Grimm during his time in the forest. Said he doesn't even know himself.
Anyway, by the time our food arrived we asked all the questions he could possibly answer seeing as he has amnesia. Most of it was riddled with confused questions by him though...
I looked at him again and noticed that his food was already gone. Did he eat it that fast?! Was he seriously that hungry? As I questioned the possibility of him eating that chicken in a matter of seconds, Sapphire asked him about the feat that seemed inhumanely possible until now.
Sapphire Frost. A carefree woman bent on joining Lilac to Beacon academy and become a famous huntress along with Her. She has sapphire blue hair along with light blue eyes paired with a face that some might describe as cute. Wearing a lightish blue coat above her simple black shirt, gray pants with blue accents.
She was quite an energetic character. So, for her to look nervous about questioning him how he ate the chicken that fast, told me that even she was confused on how he ate it that fast.
"Uhm... Michael?" Sapphire asked, confused as I was with how fast he had eaten it.
"Yes?" He looked towards us. Completely oblivious at the feat that even that girl couldn't do. Though he probably doesn't eat as much as her, it's still impressive. Speaking of... I think it's around the time she enters this restaurant.
"I ate it." Now He didn't lie. He did eat it. It was just really fast. To the point where he thinks only he himself could see. He didn't expect anyone to start questioning him about it since he was called the Terrarian. That and nobody in town ever saw how he ate.
But now. Where no one knows him. He just did a feat that seems impossible, and the fact that he should've savored the food more. That was good chicken after all.
"But... How? How did you eat it that fast?" TEG looked... Immensely confused, and he doesn't blame her. Hell, the first time he did it; he was just as confused as her.
"I don't know. I guess I just ate that fast before my amnesia I guess." He played it off as some muscle memory from before his amnesia. And while he wasn't quite sure about it. They seemed to believe it. He thinks so, at least, even though it made absolutely no sense logically.
As the former hero tried to convince the two guards and captain about it. It seemed the captain was thinking about something. As he thought of it. The door for the restaurant was opened as a series of groans appeared from the customers... and the cooks.
The person entered the restaurant. Whilst many customers were readying to leave. Is the person hated that much?
"Oh no... It's her!" TEG commented about the person entering and she seemed familiar to Michael. But he couldn't quite remember why, she felt familiar to him. He certainly doesn't remember a person like this in Terraria NOR Remnant.
"I'm here again." She spoke in a monotone way. For some odd reason it somehow reminded him of DoG with their weird ways of conveying emotion, though DoG was far more arrogant in nature. He still remembers him almost dying because he got nicked by one of the lasers after being crushed by their jaw.
"Yes, we know. 10 of everything coming up." A waiter spoke defeatedly as they walked to the kitchen. So, she eats 10 of everything. Now she really reminds him of DoG, was she perhaps a servant of that scourge? Impossible. As far as he remembers there were three at the minimum and he was fairly sure ceaseless void counted.
'Surely this would net them more money though?' The former hero thought before remembering the menu and the time it takes. All in all it would be more time consuming than positive, that and it was nighttime. 'Oh right.'
Anyway, he should ask them about who this person is. She seemed interesting. As he was about to ask, he heard a bow string being pulled. As he hurriedly looked towards the source of the noise, he noticed she was pointing the bow at him. One that he knew. One that was made from Storm Weaver. The name of the bow was... Well, he called it The Storm. More of a title than a name. Anyway, what she was holding could very well end this town in an instant. And she was pointing it at him. Which leads to the question who was this person? Though he had feeling.
"You. I remember you." She spoke just as emotionlessly as the other time. Though he noticed her leg was slightly shaking, one that only he could notice due to the movement being so miniscule. Curious.
"Me?" Now he wasn't dumb and clearly knew it was meant for him though that would lead to the question of why he was so calm right now seeing as anyone with amnesia would panic seeing someone that supposedly "Remembered them" and were now pointing a bow at him with the intent to harm.
But seeing the weapon that she had that no normal person would've been able to attain. He reached his only plausible conclusion, she was Storm Weaver because no one but him had ever attained that weapon. But it made no sense of how Storm Weaver would be here, it was dead, along with considering that it was a SERPENT and not a humanoid female, like the one was pointing the bow at him.
Especially when it was made from Storm Weavers remains.
"Yes you. How could I forget." She stood still and still had her bow pointing towards him. The former hero was lost. To say the least this in itself is a headache but now he knew that one of the enemies he killed were back from the dead. And in human form at that.
"Well... I have no idea who you are." The Former Hero spoke slowly with a sweat dropping from his forehead. After all, he shouldn't have actually known her if he had amnesia. Hearing that. The girl slightly eased up. Though she still held him at Bow? Point. As he looked towards the girl. The three guards next to him were looking very intently at him. Only for TEG to look toward the girl.
"Wait. Ellie! You know him!" TEG shouted as she pointed at me. So, her name was Ellie, the former hero still was skeptical about the theory that she was Storm Weaver. Maybe if she had the bow she held right now then that would mean there more Storm Weavers. And as far as he knows, there was only one in Terraria.
'But that would mean she went into the distortion to find more of them. Pair that with the fact that Remnant shouldn't even know that it exists and it doesn't make sense.' He sighed. His fatigue did not help him in this situation.
"Yes, I know him. He was the one to beat me." The girl said with the very same tone she had during the conversation, he was getting a bit curious about why it was like that. But before the Former Hero could think about it further the girl spoke seeing as he looked confused.
Ant that was mainly because on how this girl is related to one of the stronger threats in Terraria.
"I may as well introduce myself, seeing as I held a different form. I am Ellie Stormwell. Or as you would remember my title. Storm Weaver." The girl. Well, the now confirmed Storm Weaver replied. And he got even more confused.
'Why did she just admit it?' The former hero looked towards Storm Weaver then towards the guards. He felt the same amount of confusion as that time he found the party girls bathwater.
A/N: I'm not sure if I should continue this story. I've lost motivation but that doesn't mean I won't throw away this story or the idea's I came up with for this story and use it for other Terraria stories that I want to make.
But who know's maybe I'll get my motivation back for this story.
