"Wow, this is incredible. Both of your heart rates are beating faster than any human heart should be able to. At least safely, but both of your vitals are perfectly fine." Caitlin said as she examined both Barry and Chloe after they'd run into the elevator at speeds faster than any human being should be able to move.

"This is truly fascinating. However, Caitlin, check their sodium levels. I want to make sure that we take all factors into account, since when humans run at normal speeds, we burn calories. I'm assuming that superspeed has an even more taxing effect." Wells said and Caitlin nodded as she ran some tests on both of them.

"You were right. Both Barry and Chloe's glucose and sodium levels are getting dangerously low. We're gonna need to fashion both of you new diets to account for your enhanced metabolism." Caitlin said.

"Let me guess, we can eat as much as we want and never gain any weight." Chloe said with a smirk.

"Pretty much, but better not to test it until we know your limits." Caitlin said.

"So, what do we do now? Besides running tests, since I don't know about Chloe, but I want to put this power to use helping people." Barry said.

"You sound just like your father when he was your age." Tina said as she entered the lab.

"Tina, what are you doing here?" Barry asked.

"I called her after you and Chloe nearly broke the sound barrier running into the elevator." Wells said.

"What do you mean Barry sounds just like dad?" Chloe asked and Tina sighed.

"I always knew this day would come, though I silently hoped it never would and so did your parents. It wasn't just the lightning that gave you those powers, you would've developed them sooner or later anyways. I'm honestly surprised you never did before now." Tina said.

"What do you mean?" Barry asked.

"Barry, do you remember the stories your parents would tell about the Justice Society of America?" Tina asked.

"You mean the superheroes who existed before Superman, yeah, why?" Barry asked.

"Those stories were based on real life experiences your father had, since you and Chloe both inherited your speed from him." Tina said, shocking them.

"Wait, what?" Chloe asked.

"Your father was a speedster like you two. He called himself the Flash and he was a member of the Justice Society. And one of his and your mother's greatest fears was that either of you would inherit his powers because of the danger they knew that would put you in." Tina said.

"Wait, dad had powers. He never told us." Chloe said.

"Well to be fair, you were only a few months old when your father vanished." Tina said.

"So I've been right this whole time, dad didn't just vanish at a medical conference." Barry said.

"No, he didn't. To this day I still don't know what happened to him." Henry said.

"What do you mean?" Chloe asked.

"Why don't we finish this conversation in private, since while Iris being here is one thing, since even if she wasn't your fiance Barry, she's still family, but the rest of them." Tina said, referring to Wells, Caitlin, Cisco and Ryan.

"Let's give them some privacy." Wells said.

"Iris can stay." Tina said.

"Actually, I was hoping that Iris and I could go get drinks and catch up, since I think we have a lot to discuss considering the last time we saw each other." Caitlin said.

"Sounds good to me." Iris said.

"I'll see you at home." Barry said as he kissed Iris's cheek before she and Caitlin headed towards the elevator and Wells and his men headed towards other parts of the lab.

"So, dad was a speedster, that's what you called it?" Chloe asked.

"Yes, that's the technical term for metahumans with a connection to the speed force and I will explain what that is when Wells and his team are here since I will only explain what it is once, but for now I'll say that it's the source of your powers. But anyways, Henry was very experienced with his powers and a good man, though after you were born Barry, he decided to transition to more of a part time superhero deal before he decided to just retire all together." Tina said.

"Then why did he vanish?" Chloe asked.

"Because an old enemy of his, one that he'd thought was long gone, resurfaced and he threatened both of you if your father didn't go and meet his challenge. They both vanished that night without any trace." Tina said.

"Do you think that there's any chance he's still alive?" Chloe asked.

"I don't know, but honestly, after all this time." Tina said and let the thought hang there.

"Mom never told us because she didn't want to lose us the way she lost him." Barry said.

"Exactly." Tina agreed.

"Do you think that the guy who took out dad is the same one who killed mom?" Chloe asked.

"No. The man your father was fighting had blue lightning and from what you described, the man who killed your mother had red lightning." Tina said.

"Right. But we lost both of our parents to speedsters and now we're speedsters. And I'm planning on using my speed to find the people who took both of our parents from us and getting justice for them." Barry said.

"So am I." Chloe said.

"I figured. Which is why in addition to whatever training Wells has in mind, you'll also need this." Tina said as she pulled a book from her purse and handed it to Barry.

"This is dad's handwriting." Barry said as he looked through the notebook.

"That's because that's his journal that contains all of the information he gathered during the 30 years he had his powers. I think it might help both of you and you're lucky you have this, since when your father first got his powers, he and I had to work out everything from scratch." Tina said and Barry nodded.

"We'll put this to good use and I think I'm gonna take Dad's name, since honestly, I like the sound of it. The Flash." Barry said.
