However unfortunate others found the van incident, I found it to be a blessing because now I wouldn't have to deal with Bella's attitude all day. I will say though, it's a bit annoying to have the same classes every single day. At my old school we had A and B days, and I think that schedule is a lot better. But at least I get out earlier here than I did in Texas.
Anyway, the first three classes of the day were pretty uneventful, but by the time I had to go to gym I'm pretty sure I was about to pass out. Yesterday, gym wasn't that bad, don't get me wrong it was bad, but it wasn't that bad. This time it would be different because I'm like ninety-percent sure that Edward would be there, and while I normally would be excited about having a class with Edward, I wasn't excited about him seeing me fail miserably at whatever we would be doing in class.
I genuinely considered skipping, but I'm pretty sure that Charlie wouldn't be too happy about that, so I reluctantly headed to the locker rooms and got changed. The cold, metallic benches and the faint smell of sweat were all too familiar. After I was done, I slowly walked to the gym, my footsteps echoing in the empty hallway. I went to the spot furthest from Coach Clapp after he told us to stretch for a few minutes. I always tried to stay out of his line of sight; he had a knack for picking on the students who seemed the least interested.
Unfortunately and fortunately, I guess, Edward was in class today. His presence was both a blessing and a curse. Seconds after I sat down on the gym floor, Edward sat next to me, his movements graceful and effortless. Alice, with her usual bubbly energy, plopped down next to him.
"Trying to avoid the teacher?" Edward asked with a smirk, looking straight into my eyes. His gaze was intense, almost as if he could see right through me.
"Uh, yeah," I said with a small smile while looking away to break eye contact. His eyes were too piercing, too knowing.
No one said anything until Alice, ever the social butterfly, asked, "Do you wanna sit with us during lunch?" Edward looked at me, obviously wanting to know my answer. His expression was calm, but there was a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
"Yeah, sure," I responded, trying to seem nonchalant even though I was actually pretty excited. Who wouldn't be excited if Alice Cullen invited you to sit with her and her family during lunch? As the bell rang, signaling the end of gym class, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness about lunch. I quickly changed back into my regular clothes and made my way to the gym exit. Just as I was about to leave, Edward and Alice appeared beside me.
"Ready for lunch?" Alice asked with a bright smile.
"Yeah, let's go," I replied, feeling a bit more at ease with their company. The three of us walked together to the cafeteria, drawing curious glances from other students. It wasn't every day that the Cullens invited someone new to their table.
When we entered, I spotted the rest of the Cullens already seated at their usual table. Their presence was magnetic, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. After I said I didn't feel like eating when they asked if I wanted to get lunch, Edward and Alice led me over, and I took a seat between them.
"Hey, Evie!" Emmett greeted me with a booming voice. "How's it going?"
"It's going well," I replied, smiling. "Thanks for inviting me to sit with you."
"No problem," Emmett said with a grin. "So, how are you liking Forks so far?"
"It's… different," I said, trying to find the right words. "But I think I'm starting to get used to it."
Rosalie, who had been quiet until now, gave me a scrutinizing look. "Different how?" she asked, her tone cool and detached.
I hesitated, not wanting to say anything that might offend them. "Well, it's a lot smaller than where I'm from. And the weather is definitely something to get used to."
Emmett chuckled. "Yeah, the rain can be a bit much. But you'll get used to it."
"So, Evie," Alice said, changing the subject, "do you have any plans for the weekend?"
"Not really," I admitted. "I was thinking of exploring the town a bit more."
"Maybe we could show you around," Edward suggested, his eyes twinkling with interest. "There's a lot to see if you know where to look."
My heart skipped a beat at the thought of spending more time with Edward. "I'd like that," I said, smiling.
"How about we go shopping together?" Alice chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I know some great places we could check out."
"That sounds fun," I replied, feeling genuinely excited about the idea. "I'd love to go shopping with you." I never understood why Bella hated shopping so much. Shopping is so fun, and even if she thought it wasn't, she didn't have to be so rude about it, you know. She should've at least pretended to not be miserable.
The rest of lunch passed by in a blur of conversation and laughter. I felt more at ease with the Cullens than I had expected, and I found myself genuinely enjoying their company. They were different from what I had imagined, more welcoming and warm. As the bell rang again, signaling the end of lunch, Edward stood up and offered his hand to me.
"Ready for Biology?" he asked with a smile.
"Yeah," I replied, taking his hand and feeling a warm thrill run through me. His touch was cool, but it sent a shiver of excitement down my spine.
We walked together to our next class, our hands brushing occasionally as we walked side by side. The hallways were crowded with students rushing to their next classes, but it felt like we were in our own little world. Edward's presence was comforting, and I found myself relaxing more with each step.
As we entered the Biology classroom, I noticed a few curious glances from our classmates. Edward led me to his table and insisted I sat in Bella's seat, and who was I to say no?. Mr. Banner was already setting up for the day's lesson.
"Today, we'll be continuing our discussion on cellular respiration," Mr. Banner announced as the class settled down. I tried to focus on the lesson, but my mind kept drifting back to lunch and the upcoming weekend plans with the Cullens.
Edward seemed to sense my distraction. He leaned over and whispered, "You okay?"
"Yeah, just thinking about the weekend," I whispered back, smiling.
He nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "It'll be fun, I promise."
The rest of the class passed by in a blur. I tried to pay attention to Mr. Banner's lecture, but my thoughts kept drifting to Edward and the Cullens. I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the weekend.
As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, Edward and I gathered our things and headed out of the classroom. Alice was waiting for us in the hallway, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Ready to go?" she asked, practically bouncing on her toes.
"Yeah, let's go," I replied, feeling a surge of excitement.
The three of us walked to the parking lot, where the rest of the Cullens were waiting by their sleek, shiny cars. They greeted me with warm smiles, and I felt a sense of belonging that I hadn't felt in a long time.
"See you tomorrow, Evie," Edward said as he opened the door to his car.
"See you tomorrow," I replied, waving as they drove away.
As I walked back towards the school to wait for Charlie, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the weekend. I had a feeling that my time in Forks was about to get a lot more interesting.
A/N: So so so so so sorry for not updating. Once again, that's on me I really don't have a reason. Anyway, have a great day :)
