Chapter Six:

Purge

As the last of the flames were put out ,the cooling wood could now be removed. Charr formed a line to quickly remove the wreckage. At the head of the line, a Charr from the iron legion took large chunks and passed it to the Charr next to him and they did the same until it reached its new destination. Slowly the effigy remains were being broken down and hauled away till nothing remained and the engineers could start working on repairs.

Carve Warband were huddled together with angry Charr surrounding them. Plans to drive out the vial Shaman and his followers were being shouted and disgruntled words were passed all around as they all gave ideas on how to exact their revenge.

Menlorr walked around till he found the Legionnaire in charge. He was barking orders for more guards and sentries around the statue while it was being worked on. His fur was a rusty brown and orange mix with dull white spots. He was adorned in lighter armor than most iron legions wore. More fur was showing and the armor he had covered only vital areas.

"Legionnaire." Menlorr said as he gave the Charr a salute.

The Legionnaire turned to face him and returned the salute with a thud on his chest.

"Thank you for helping us out over there. You got a hell of an elementalist in your Warband."

"No thanks needed. We were passing through and saw what was happening. And yes, our Warband wouldn't be what is without him." Menlorr answered.

"Who am I addressing? And name of the Warband? I don't recognize you." The Iron Legionnaire said with a puzzled look, even with his helm covering most of his face

"I am Legionnaire Menlorr SwiftSlice and we are the Carve Warband." He answered.

"Well met then Legionnaire SwiftSlice of Carve Warband, I owe you one. From the sound of it, you're Blood legion. What are you doing out this way?"

"We are currently on a mission that's taking us East through here. Other than that, that's classified information." Menlorr answered honestly. He did not want to give away anymore information than needed and he didn't need to ruin his first important mission by over sharing any intel to another legion that doesn't need to know.

"It seems that you have a shaman in the area." Menlorr stated quickly to stop any further questions about his orders.

The Legionnaire eyed him and shook his head. "Yes. We do unfortunately. Bold bastards came out of nowhere and before we could do anything. They sent a blasted flaming giant to Fierceshot's staue. They just can't let go of the past, brainwashed scum." He cursed.

"My suggestion is getting rid of them now before more come and make a more rooted stay." Menlorr said as he put his paws on the hilt of his swords.

"Yes. I couldn't agree more. Need to purge the filth at once before it gets worse. Unfortunately I'm spread thin and with the new guards I have stationed around the engineers, it'll have to wait. Unless you and your Warband wish to help out?" The Iron Legionnaire gave a toothy grin. His eyes met Menlorr's and a silent acknowledgement was made between the two battle hungry Charr.

"I'm sure we can make some time and quickly douse some flames. As long as we can stay here for the night and rest." Menlorr said with a small smile.

The Iron Legionnaire chuckled.

"Fine by me. I'll have someone prepare some rooms and food for our return."

"Our return?" Menlorr shot a look at him. "You're coming with?"

"Of course I am! Those flame followers make me want to spit teeth! My blood boils with just the mention of them, I'd never pass up and opportunity to get rid of some!" The legionnaire shot back harsher than he meant.

"Understandably. I'll inform the the others. Need to get moving as day light is dropping."

A few moments later Menlorr made his way through the crowd. He spotted his Warband in mid conversation with all the Charr.

"CARVE!" Menlorr shouted above the noise. "On me, we have a meeting with the Iron Legionnaire."

The crowd hushed as the members slowly made their way to their leader.

The crowd dispersed. Some went to help with clean up and others back to walking the posts.

Carve Warband followed their leader to the fort where the Iron Legionnaire was standing at the top of the walk way.

"All set here. Let's get a move on, no time to waste. Time to douse some flames." He said as he puffed out his chest and started walking.

"Roger that. Everyone got what they need? Good, let's go." Menlorr said as he started walking in the same direction.

The rest looked at each other and shrugged. Tylaa was the first to move. She didn't need to be told twice for a fight. She trusted her legionnaire to lead and she would follow.

After she started walking the rest followed suit. They understood that the fight ahead of them was not one for just revenge on a broken statue but one for an age long history between legions and Charr. They were prepared to fight crystal beasts, flame legion was nothing compared to those monstrous beings.

With confidence growing with each stride Carve Warband headed into temporary flame controlled territory behind their battle hardened leader they would take on anyone or anything with no fear.
