Gotham City
Several days had passed since Jin received word of his upcoming exile. For days he dived headfirst into books of varying subjects along with getting tutoring in Chinese language and culture. School wise he was very much unchanged. The weird albino outcast that he was. Girls turned their noses up in disgust while the guys bullied him for fun and for him simply being different.
It is near the end of the school day at Gotham Academy and Jin found himself laying down on the school roof like a random anime protagonist while holding one hand up that held an umbrella that was opened and protected his upper body from the rays of the sun through the gloomy clouds that remained in Gotham's skies.
Jin was wearing the school's main uniform of a white long-sleeved shirt underneath a red velvet vest with tan khaki pants, black dress shoes and his prescription sunglasses over his eyes.
"What's the point of even coming to school anymore if I'm going to be leaving soon?" Jin asked himself with a sigh before he reached into his pocket and took out his cell phone and started looking up various events and activities going on in Gotham Academy.
The school was very active on social media for being 'The most prestigious and diverse' private school in the state. Jin always rolled his eyes when he saw or heard those words used to describe the school when the most elitist and rich kids get the best treatment compared to others.
Jin himself had family money like some of the other elitist but unlike them he never considered himself superior to the average man and didn't do stupid stuff like drink on school grounds or anything…Another thing he got bullied about, but Jin could at least acknowledge that not every single person in the school hated him or even knew him, so picking up a temporary club or sport wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to do. All he had to do was find something he liked and convince his parents that it would be a valuable life skill and that it wouldn't interrupt his studying.
So, by scrolling through the various posts and links of the school's Facebook account, Jin found a sport that he was interested in.
"Gotham Academy's Judo team?" Jin asked himself with interest before he sat up when he heard the school bell ring. So, he stood up with his umbrella over his head before he closed it and put it in his backpack before entering and exiting the school.
The bus ride sucked as usual but being able to talk to his best friend known as Barbara Gordon often put a smile on his face. Barbara was good company and didn't treat him like some kind of alien or anything.
When Jin got home, he first made his way to his mother who was in the dining room and talked to her at length about his curiosity and willingness to double down on his studies in order to become a member of the Judo club.
"I'm glad you found something you're interested in Jin. I'll support you in anything you do, but you know as well as I do that your father is the only one you truly need to convince. He is a stubborn man. A will cast from steel and blood as he likes to claim." Miu replied while ruffling her son's hair with a loving smile.
"I know. But I want you to be involved too mom." Jin replied with a tiny blush while his mother simply chuckled before getting up from her seat.
"If that's how you feel, then let's go speak with your father together. He should have no objections to you joining a sport." Replied Miu and soon enough both mother and son made their way into Yin's office where Jin summoned up his courage and made the request to his father who barely looked up from his computer.
"Maintain your studies and I couldn't care less. I told you to make yourself stronger, if this is something that can make you stronger than so be it." Yin replied in a cold tone before Miu and Jin left the office, where Jin let out a heavy breath.
"I told you he wouldn't object. I just wish it would have been this easy to convince him to let you stay here with us." Miu said sadly with a frown. "Even if I divorce him and sue for custody, he made sure that I can't overlook his decision to send you away. I'm sorry Jin."
Jin spoke up quickly when he noticed the tears starting to form in his mother's eyes.
"It will be okay mom. I promise I'll come back home as soon as I can. I'll be a big success and father explained that I will have people supervising me while I learn and grow into a successful CEO of the China branch of our family business. So, please don't cry." Jin said while giving his mother a hug that she quickly returned.
"You're too sweet for this world Jin. Now I might not be able to change what is going to happen, but I can make sure to enjoy my time with you for as long as I can." Miu said before the two of them went online on Miu's computer in her bedroom and sighed Jin up for the school's Judo club.

Gotham City
Time flew by for Jin who not only learned some modest self-defense, but he managed to learn more about his 'Gamer' ability as he called it. He had developed some decent stat growth and even managed to gain two levels from his training after school.
But sadly, the time for his exile had finally come. All his belongings were on the plane along with dozens of his father's employees that terrified Jin based on what he saw floating above their heads.
'Blooded Assassin'
That title was displayed over several employee's heads, and not only did it scare Jin, but he didn't even know what he could realistically do about it. He did make note that his father had apparently led a darker life than Jin ever knew about, and all Jin could hope for now is that his family remains safe.
Dressed in a simple green shirt and jeans with sneakers on his feet and his sunglasses over his eyes. Jin reclined in his seat on the plane and tried not to think about the tearful goodbye he had with his mother and sister, or how his father simply gave a cold stare and reminded him that if he wants to return, he must prove worthy of inheriting Su Industries.
Jin also thought about never being able to see his friend Barbara again or how his new friends on the Judo team wouldn't be seeing him again. Jin knew that this would hurt but he didn't know how much until now. So, to distract himself, Jin finally decided to look at his status sheet and see what he wanted to do with his saved-up perk points.

"The stat increases don't look too big, but considering how I was on a baseline of 4 in every attribute, this shows improvement. Plus, the improvements are much more impressive than they seem. I'm no quarterback, but I'm a decent athlete." Jin whispered to himself while thinking back to the Judo team's instructor and how he was impressed with how fast Jin could adapt and improve himself compared to the other students.
Jin shook away the memories before thinking about what to do with his perk points and he decided to obtain some new perks.

Shanghai China
The flight landed early in the morning in Shanghai and Jin quickly boarded a bus that took him to the Su Industries building nearing the docks. The building was a massive compound and Jin was placed in the central building in his new private room where he would be living his life.
The room was elegant looking with clear Chinese designs on all the furniture, bedding and wallpaper. The flight had certainly exhausted Jin and for the rest of the day and night he simply laid down in his bed and went to sleep.
7th of March/2024
Shanghai China
Jin walked the streets of Shanghai looking for something to do. His studies were still coming along well but he quickly felt confined within the Su Industries complex and decided to venture out. His important identification details and what not, had been safely stashed away in his Inventory. Plus, he had a security guard with him known as Kyp Shallen.
Kyp was originally from America, but he has lived in Shanghai for years apparently and Yin had determined that Kyp would be the perfect bodyguard.
Former marine, six-foot-tall man with tanned skin, messy black hair and dressed professionally in a black and white business suit with a muscular build as well.
"What exactly are you looking for Jin?" Kyp asked while the both of them walked the streets.
"I don't know. Just something to do. Or maybe find a place where I can practice martial arts or something." Jin replied before he stopped at a store and saw several flyers on the window and one of them had been promoting a tournament.
The Kumite. A gathering of martial artists from all over the world who will compete and fight for glory and honor.
"The Kumite." Jin said in interest before he saw a new quest screen appear in front of him.
Quest!
Name: The Kumite
You have found a flyer promoting the underground and extremely dangerous tournament known as the Kumite and as a fighter you are curious.
Objective 1: Attend the Kumite as a fighter or an audience member.
Other objectives will appear after the first is complete.
Rewards: 3,000 XP, 1x Loot Orb, '?'
Failure: Not knowing or unlocking more of your potential.
Do you accept this quest? Y/N?
Jin mentally accepted the quest with ease before Kyp quickly spoke up.
"Jin, I have to object to your decision here. Kumite isn't a game. It's a life-or-death struggle for survival amongst the strongest fighters on earth. Fighters who won't hesitate to kill with a single well-placed strike if given the chance." Kyp said while Jin held the flyer in his hands.
"Which is why I won't be fighting. I practiced martial arts, but I am nowhere near skilled enough to enter any kind of competition. I just want to see what this tournament is like." Jin replied while Kyp kept a worried look on his face.
Dusk
It had gotten late as the sun over China had started setting. Dozens of its citizens went to sleep from overly busy working hours while others went out into the night. Jin and Kyp were two people who were out while the sun had started setting and made their way to the outer limits of Shanghai China and into the wilderness where they came towards a massive gathering of people surrounding a massive and traditional looking building.
Hundreds of people had arrived. Kyp parked the limo closest to the exit road before he and Jin stepped out of the car and while they walked to the building, Jin noticed the titles and levels above dozens of people's heads.
Mafioso's, gang members, Olympic level fighters, mercenaries and thrill seekers had all gathered here for the Kumite. Jin swallowed the saliva in his throat all how dangerous of a place this place was, and he was slowly starting to reconsider his decision before he and Kyp entered the large building and stepped in front of the help desk.
"Welcome. In order to participate in the Kumite, I must ask you to hand over any and all weapons as well as any recording devices such as cameras or camcorders." The woman at the desk said in Chinese, but her accent was different form a normal person and judging by her name and title above her head, Jin could guess that this woman was from Korea.
Kyp reached into his suit pockets and took out a 9mm pistol and handed it over to the woman along with a stack of money to buy two tickets in the stands.
"Hold onto that ticket number as it will be the same number placed upon your gun for retrieval when the Kumite has concluded. The stands and fighting arena are down the right hallway while the betting services are down the left hallway. The Kumite will begin in an hour and forty minutes."
"Thank you." Kyp replied before he and Jin headed towards the stands where they took their seats and saw the fighting arena in the center of this spacious combat zone. It was a sand covered arena with a few obstacles such as stone pillars or slabs placed around randomly. The fighting zone was in between the stands and directly to the south where the two sides of the large building met, in the middle was a large box-like platform for the judges and owners to sit and watch the fights.
"Kyp, it's been a long time since I saw your ugly mug." A man said while walking up to the seated duo and when Jin looked at the stranger he was in awe. He didn't even need to look at the information floating above the man's head to know who he was.
"Cole?!" Jin asked in pure shock before standing up and quickly seeing his brother's name right above his head.
Cole Su, Level: 15
Order of Light monk Initiate
Jin had a million questions running through his head right now and he couldn't even say one of the questions before he rushed over and gave his brother the biggest hug he possibly could.
"Jin? Why the hell are you here?" Cole asked before looking over at Kyp. "Mind explaining a few things?"
"I'll keep things simple." Kyp said before telling Cole everything that has happened with the family company and about Jin's exile while Jin sat next to his brother unsure of what to say.
"So, the old man sent you into exile too?" Cole asked Jin who nodded his head before Cole let out a hum of frustration while a frown was plastered on his face.
"I…I thought I'd never see you again." Jin replied while bawling up his fist and clenching his teeth to avoid crying. He didn't need to embarrass himself here in front of God knows how many people in the criminal underground.
"I thought that way too for a while, but let's just say that fate has its way of working things out." Cole replied before Jin cleared his throat and asked his brother a question.
"How do you know Kyp?"
"When I went into exile, I wasn't in the best shape mentally, physically, emotionally and so on. But during the last Kumite, Kyp helped me find a place where I could get help and improve myself. That place taught me so much, but the instructors there don't know I'm here. They wouldn't grant me permission to come here but I had to be here."
"What do you mean?" Kyp asked.
"Your old pal Wintergreen is here. He helped attack the order of light along with a few dozen assassins. The order went to ground but I intend on making him pay for what he's done." Cole said with an angry look on his face.
"The order of light?" Asked Jin before Cole gave his long-lost brother a glance before letting out a breath and regaining his composure.
"It's nothing you have to worry about. You also shouldn't even be here, but nothing we can do about it now. Just stay quiet and don't draw attention to yourself." Cole said before standing up when traditional bells started sounding through the building. "Keep my brother safe." Cole said to Kyp with a calm yet steel-clad voice. Kyp nodded before Cole left and headed down to the fighting pit.
Again, Jin had several questions running through his head, but he didn't dare voice them in this place. He would wait until his brother's fight was over.
The seats filled quickly before every noticed people sitting down in traditional robe like clothing within the judge's booth before Jin saw two people bring out a large old school fighting bracket machine like object that was hand operated. It was a large thing and with a crank or turn from the workers it would display written names of the fighters and the first two fighters chosen were Cole and the person known as Wintergreen. The crowd cheered in excitement as both fighters entered the pit.
Cole still dressed in his traditional white martial arts gi and trousers with a black belt around his waist while Wintergreen is wearing a black streamline suit that covered his entire body from the neck down. Over his head is a mask split down the middle into two different colors. The left side was yellow while the right side was black and behind the mask was what looked like a tied off piece of a headband with both bands reaching near his elbows.
Jin felt a sinking feeling in his gut when the fight started. Cole rushed in with a swift overhead kick which Wintergreen ducked and countered with a fast punch to Cole's stomach. Cole took the blow before quickly planting his foot down and reversed himself to his Wintergreen with a backwards kick that was blocked by Wintergreen's right arm.
Cole jumped with his other leg and hit Wintergreen in the chest with a quick chest kick before he landed on his back and performed a kickup maneuver to get back on his feet. Wintergreen simply dusted himself off before Cole charged again with a flurry of fist strikes that were either blocked or countered by Wintergreen who knocked Cole back with a quick headbutt which staggered Cole, but Wintergreen connected with a series of six rapid punches to Cole's ribs which made him take a few steps back before Wintergreen connected with his own kick that knocked Cole down onto the sand while the crowd cheered.
Jin wanted to cheer for his brother, but he knew what kind of environment he was in and how stupid it would be. So, he silently prayed for his brother to win.
Cole got back to his feet with a spinning kick to send Wintergreen back a step and give him space. Cole then jumped and attacked with a high jumping kick that Wintergreen countered by quickly grabbing Cole's leg and used the momentum to slam Cole into the ground hard.
Cole once again got up but this time it was a bit slower with his lips busted and nose broken as bloody sand stuck to his face. Cole through a feint, one after another before following through with a quick jab aimed at Wintergreen's face. Wintergreen caught the jab with his own right hand before painfully twisting Cole's wrist with a brutal snap causing him to scream out in pain as his hand was brought down. Cole struck with his left and the same thing happened.
Both wrists painfully fractured before Wintergreen let them go and hit Cole's head with both hands open as he slammed them against his ears making the man scream out louder as his sense of hearing was greatly harmed and his balance severely damaged.
Wintergreen grabbed Cole's head and brought it down while raising a knee as he proceeded to strike Cole's face repeatedly with several knee strikes before letting him go to fall on the ground where Wintergreen raised his fist before looking up at the judges.
The crowd went silent as everyone looked at the judges who one by one gave the thumbs down symbol. Wintergreen looked back at the bloodied and beaten Cole before bringing his raised fist down hard into Cole's face which sent him onto the sand hard and unconscious while the crowd cheered for Wintergreen's victory.
Jin wanted nothing more than to rush down towards his brother and he would have if Kyp hadn't stopped him by placing a firm hand down onto Jin's shoulder while medics carried Cole's body out on a stretcher.
"This is why you shouldn't have come here. The Kumite isn't a game. It's blood sport and your brother just paid for joining it." Kyp said before he stood up. "Come on. We're going with him."
Jin followed Kyp out of the building before taking one last glance at Wintergreen with a hateful stare. Jin swore that he would make the man pay for what he had done and when he made that vow to himself, he saw Wintergreen look at him before turning away.
Jin didn't linger and followed Kyp to the car and towards the nearest hospital where Cole was getting treatment.
8th of March/2024
Shanghai China
Jin and Kyp stayed in the hospital overnight. Jin ignored the phone calls from his father's employees and simply waited for news about his brother which came to him thanks to one of the doctors who brought him to Cole's room.
Jin and Kyp couldn't enter and had to look through the glass window of the hospital door to see Cole hooked up to several medical machines.
"Your brother is very fortunate. Two broken wrists, a broken nose, dislocated jaw, fractured skull and internal injuries have all been treated before they could escalate into a worse condition, but his road to recovery will be a long one." The doctor explained while Jin balled up his fist.
"Thank you doctor." Jin said before the man nodded his head and left Jin and Kyp alone for a while.
"Jin…We should make our way back to Su Industries. Your caretakers are worried about you by now." Kyp said while Jin scowled.
"I don't care. My brother was beaten nearly to death, and I can't do anything about it. Why should I care about some stupid test book when I can't even help my brother aside from paying for the medical treatment?" Jin asked before he punched the wall near the door. "Why can't I help my brother?"
"Your bother was fighting a trained killer in the Kumite. His odds were destroyed the minute he walked into the fight against Wintergreen."
"Who the hell is Wintergreen anyway? What the hell makes him so damn important or dangerous?!" Jin asked with a raised voice before Kyp quickly covered his mouth before leading him outside of the hospital before someone would speak to them about Jin's shouting.
"Calm down. Wintergreen is a former soldier and a damned deadly one at that. He abandoned his duty and service to sell his skills to the highest bidder and now someone put him here in the tournament to win. Maybe to see his skills in action or maybe to have Wintergreen as a status symbol. I don't know, but what I do know is that Wintergreen is one of the world's most wanted criminals for a reason." Kyp explained while Jin bawled up his fist in clear anger.
"So, what? I'm just supposed to accept this and let Wintergreen get away with what he's done?"
"There's nothing else you can do." Kyp replied but Jin felt differently. With his powers, Jin knew he could get strong enough to get revenge for his brother. And he knew where he could start getting some training.
"The order of light. If I can find them, they can train me to fight." Jin said before Kyp spoke up.
"No way in hell. This isn't some kid's game Jin. You're messing with powers you can't understand."
"Then explain them!"
"I can't." Kyp replied with a sigh.
"I don't care what you say. I'll find this order of light by myself if I have to. I'm not going to let Wintergreen just walk after nearly killing my brother." Jin said before he started to storm away from Kyp who groaned and quickly caught up to Jin.
"Just stop for a minute alright. I know your pissed off and you have the right to be. But getting yourself killed for asking stupid questions isn't going to help anyone."
"Then what am I supposed to do?!" Jin shouted before Kyp placed his hand on his head with a sigh before removing said hand and placed it into his pocket to take out his cell phone.
"I'll get you a meeting with the leader of the order of light. That's all I can do and that's the only favor your getting. The old man has a soft spot for cases like yours. But this isn't like a judo club where you can quit when things get hard. This is a commitment for life. Your brother made a commitment and even admitted to going against it to come here." Kyp explained in a serious tone of voice. "Just know that what your doing could get you killed."
"If your so worried than why are you helping me?" Jin asked after taking a moment to calm down.
"Because you remind me of myself when I was young and new to the underground world. So, I can't just leave you alone in it, and I also think you'd get yourself killed if your left to your own devices." Kyp said before he started making the phone call that would change everything.
16th of March/2024
China Wilderness
It had been days since Kyp made the phone call and today was the meeting day for Jin to speak with the leader of the order of light.
The car ride was quiet. Kyp drove the limo while Jin sat in the back dressed in causal clothing to protect his skin while he thought about what he could possibly say to convince this man to let him become a member of this order like his brother before him.
Durning his anger he didn't think about how he could possibly convince people to let him even enter the order at all, let alone join and now he was stuck in trying to figure out what he could possibly do.
They had left Shanghai hours ago and Jin simply looked out at the forest while thinking about what he could do. He thought about his brother, his family, about Wintergreen and how he was possibly going to be in danger at this meeting. But he also thought about the assassins that his father had employed and how they seemed to be keeping a strict watch over him.
Ever since he got these strange powers his life had started making no sense whatsoever and it irked him. What Jin needed was answers to so many questions and he didn't know when he would get them.
"Were here." Kyp said before parking the car. Once they got out, Jin saw that in this clearing of the massive forest is a traditional looking house along with several plants near the entrance and a watering well off to the side.
"This is the meeting place?"
"Yes. Don't do anything stupid while you're here and just answer the man's questions as honestly as possible." Kyp warned before the two of them made their way to the front door of the place and looked at the sun shaped door knocker and used it against the door.
Jin only heard the sounds of nature around him for a long time before the door opened and revealed an old man in all white traditional Chinese clothing with black sunglasses and a stick cane in his hand along with a big German Shepard dog next to him.
I-Ching, Level: '?'
God of martial arts/Founder of the Order of Light
"Kyp, it has been too long since we've last spoke, and when you do call it is about the brother of Cole and how you wish for him to join the order that you constantly refuse." I-Ching said with a smirk while Kyp rolled his eyes.
"Things aren't looking too good I-Ching. No offense. This kid is in a messy situation, and I know you've trained younger. So, please talk to him."
"Of course." I-Ching said before moving his head towards Jin. "Please come in." I-Ching said before letting both Kyp and Jin into the house where they were quickly seated as a small wooden table was between I-Ching, Kyp and Jin and his dog named Dumpling simply laid down near them.
"So, you wish to join the order of light. I need to know why." I-Ching said before Jin spoke up.
"My brother Cole. He got hurt bad because of a man called Wintergreen. He's in the hospital now and Kyp told me how I can't do anything about it because of how dangerous Wintergreen is. But my brother worked for your order and became a fighter, so I want to do the same and avenge my brother, but not just him. I want Wintergreen to pay for everything bad he's done. But I don't want him dead, I want justice for my brother and the other victims."
"It sounds like you've had time to think about that issue." I-Ching replied while Jin nodded.
"I did and while I wasn't in the right state of mind at first. I know that trying to get revenge wouldn't be right. Revenge isn't justice and instead it's something like payback. I just want Wintergreen and the people who hired him to face the consequences of their actions and I know that it isn't an easy thing to do. But that's what I need to do." Jin said and oddly enough his fathers' words echoed in his head.
'Stronger than the strongest and smarter than the smartest'
"Seeking justice is honorable on its own. And you certainly have the character and morales that align with the order of light. However, the order itself is sadly on its last legs. Many students are gone as well as instructors due to the actions of those who have hired Wintergreen. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I cannot intervene in these events, however that doesn't mean I can't train you myself. However, if I do take you on as a student, you must help rebuild the order of light and make it stronger than it was before. Is that acceptable?"
Quest Modification!
Name: The Kumite
You have seen the Kumite tournament firsthand and how dangerous it is. You seek justice for its victims and must help take it down for good.
Objective 1: Attend the Kumite as a fighter or an audience member.
Objective 2: Become I-Ching's personal student
Objective 3: Help take down the Kumite before any more victims are made.
Objective 4: Defeat Wintergreen

Failure: Possible death, massively decreased affinity with the league of assassins, massively decreased affinity with Wintergreen and Deathstroke, massively decreased affinity with the league of shadows.
Jin couldn't help but swallow the lump in his throat from what he saw but he quickly steeled himself and spoke.
"I'll help you rebuild the order of light. You have my word." Jin said proudly while the blind man gave him a soft smile.
"Very well then. I'll take you on as my student. But know that I am a strict teacher, and I won't coddle you."
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Jin replied with a smile of his own while Dumpling let out a loud bark of joy.
END!
A/N: So, another chapter done, and Jin is learning more and more about the world thanks to his gamer powers and his morals. Let's see just how far he can go in the shadowy underground world of fighting along with the secret war of dark vs light.
