Dueling Critters

S-M-I-L-E everyday! ...Well except when a fellow critter sacrificed herself in a duel to make sure her friends doesn't suffer the same fate as her... After the supposed death of CraftyCorn, these critters are no longer smiling. They've changed and now a lot of questions need to be answered, mostly, Who was the individual that took CraftyCorn's life away?

11. Chapter 10

Chapter 10: The House Party

Friday Night. 7:30PM. CatNap and DogDay went to the address of the house party Hoppy HopScotch sent to them after school.

"This it?" CatNap wondered,

"Yes, it should be." DogDay replied, "Come on, let's head inside."

CatNap sighed heavily.

"Let's get this shit over with." He said,

A Rhino Critter was blocking the front door as he saw CatNap and DogDay coming up. He looked at the list and smirked.

"You two are CatNap and DogDay, yeah?" He asked them, "Hoppy told me to add you two on the list, so you two can head inside."

The rhino went out of the way for CatNap and DogDay to head inside.

"Well that was easy." CatNap said, "For now…"

Inside, there were 8 other people in the house drinking fruit punch, chatting and vibing to the music being played. Hoppy was putting on the music, being her choice of rap or classic rock. She puts her phone down and turned to CatNap and DogDay and smiled.

"Well, about time you two show up!" She said, "Otherwise you would show out!"

Hoppy crossed her arms as she walked to CatNap and DogDay.

"Look at you two, dressing casually like us." She said,

"...Why are you judging us?" CatNap wondered,

"Meh, I don't know, you tell me." Hoppy said,

DogDay sighed.

"Ok, so… Is there any fruit punch for us?" He asked Hoppy, "We're thirsty, uhh, a little bit."

"Gotcha boys covered." Hoppy replied as she turned to someone in the kitchen, "HEY! FRUIT PUNCH FOR CATNAP AND DOGDAY! CHOP CHOP!"

Another Dog critter gave Hoppy the thumbs-up as she went into giving CatNap and DogDay their cups of fruit punch.

"Here, sit your butts down and make yourself at home!" Hoppy replied, "I'm gonna go get Kicken!"

Hoppy went into the kitchen as well. CatNap and DogDay sat down on the couch and laid their school bags that they brought. CatNap sighed as he tried to lay down.

"You're not gonna sleep on someone else's couch, are you, CatNap?" DogDay wondered,

"Don't care, I'll sleep on the road if I have to." CatNap replied,

DogDay sighed as he slowly shakes his head no.

"Why do you always talk about that sorta stuff?" He wondered,

"Why are you so happy-go-lucky a lot?" CatNap wondered,

"I'm not always happy-go-lucky, CatNap!"

"Oh yeah? Then tell me something–"

"--EVERYONE, KICKEN IS HERE!" Hoppy shouted with two cups of fruit punch in her hands and gave them to CatNap and DogDay, "Here, don't worry, there's no alcohol in them. This is a store brand fruit punch."

"Gee, thanks."

"Y-Yeah… Thanks…" DogDay said as he looked down,

KickinChicken and Hoppy HopScotch were then in the center of the living room as they got everyone's attention.

"Alright, everyone, thanks for coming to our small house party planned by a friend of our's." KickinChicken said, "Now the reason we brought you your attention is for some things me and Hoppy to discuss on what's going on in our little world."

"Oh boy, can't wait to hear this." CatNap whispered to DogDay,

DogDay was silent as he still looked down at his fruit punch bowl while listening to what KickinChicken was about to say.

"Now as you heard from school, 4 students have disappeared since yesterday." KickinChicken said, "We don't know what happened or why though."

"And one of them is a brother to this house party's main host." Hoppy said,

CatNap was confused.

"Who are they talking about?" He wondered,

"Beats me." DogDay replied, softly, "I don't pay attention to them."

"...Yeah, me neither."

KickinChicken sighed.

"And now we gotta make sure to come home safely, because who knows what caused them all to disappear." He said,

"Well, at least he's showing that he cares." CatNap said,

"Tell me about it…" DogDay said,

KickinChicken and Hoppy overheard CatNap and DogDay.

"You boys got something to say?" Hoppy wondered,

CatNap and DogDay looked up at them.

"Uhhh, no, we're fine." CatNap replied as he got up, "Can I put on a song? I think this place needs some more–"

"--No, only me and KickinChicken are allowed to put on a song." Hoppy replied, "We're the co-hosts of this house party, ok?"

"Well, there's something else me and CatNap have learned." DogDay said as he got up as well,

"DogDay…" CatNap said, shocked,

"Hmm? What is it?" Hoppy wondered, "What is it you learned about us, DogDay?"

DogDay drinks his fruit punch and puts his now empty cup down.

"You two are hypocritical." He said, "You think you two care about us when really, you don't."

"Oh, boo hoo, calling us hypocritical!" KickinChicken said, "Put a sock in it, DogDay! We all got over CraftyCorn's sacrifice, ok?"

"And then you two have the audacity to bring up what happened to a friend of ours that caused us to act like this. Do you two even care if CraftyCorn actually died?! What if she actually died?!"

Hoppy sighed.

"And to think that CatNap said that we're getting on your nerves…" She said,

"Well, CatNap is right." DogDay said, "You two haven't changed and you probably will never. Ignorant pieces of crap."

Everyone gasped as Hoppy then went over and kick DogDay in his area.

"OWWW!" DogDay shouted in pain as he was on his knees,

"Yeah, who's ignorant now, asshat?!" Hoppy shouted,

"Hey!" CatNap said as he went over to comfort DogDay, "He's right! You two just don't get it yet!"

"Heh, now you wanna agree with him? Cool."

Hoppy was on one knee as he looked at DogDay.

"When you're healed up from my kick in your nuts, you and me, out back." She said, "I want to duel you."

DogDay gasped.

"A duel?!" He said, "Come on, you just kicked me in the nuts?!"

"Yeah, stop trying to embarrass all of us!" CatNap said, "Duel me instead!"

"Pfft, ha ha! No!" Hoppy replied, "Besides, DogDay brought this all to himself, so there's no coming back."

Hoppy got up and went upstairs.

"My Duel Disk is upstairs in my bag." She said, "Don't keep me waiting, DogDay."

KickinChicken clapped a bit as he chuckled.

"Well, ain't this is something?" He said, "Now your friend is gonna duel my girlfriend? Oh this night is getting better and better!"

DogDay growled.

"Damn it, KickinChicken!" He said,

KickinChicken smirked.

"And just so you know, me and Hoppy are also gonna be qualified for that Duel Monsters tournament in the future." He said, "So maybe this duel will be something for you to understand, and to understand the consequences of your own actions."

KickinChicken turned back.

"Don't keep her waiting." He said as he went outback,

CatNap sighed.

"Wow…" He said, shocked, "I wasn't expecting you to act like that."

"...I'll explain later." DogDay said, "For real, this time."

"Alright… This better be legit."

DogDay slowly got up and walked to his bag to grab his Duel Disk and deck.

"I have no choice this time." He said, "I gotta fix this mess that I've made…"

Hoppy went downstairs with her Duel Disk as she and DogDay looked at each other. Hoppy chuckled with a smirk and DogDay was serious.

"Ready to duel, boy?" Hoppy asked,

"I am ready." DogDay replied, "Let's take this outside."
