Chapter 17: CatNap Vs PickyPiggy: Nature Bites!
CatNap and PickyPiggy were getting their duel disks ready as they were on opposite sides of the dueling field.
"Well, this should be a fun and happy duel." DogDay said as he sat next to Bobby,
"Sure hope so." Bobby said,
"Pfft, whatever." Hoppy said as she started to eat a piece of peppermint candy,
Bobby sighed as she turned to DogDay.
"Sorry, she's a bag full." She said,
"Of hot air?" DogDay wondered,
"Yeah."
"Don't worry about her. Let's just see who's gonna win to go up against you."
"Ok."
CatNap and PickyPiggy ready their dueling disks to start the duel.
"DUEL!" They both shouted,
Turn 1
CatNap: 4000
PickyPiggy: 4000
"Ok, so… Who's going first?" PickyPiggy wondered,
"...You can go first." CatNap replied,
"Oh, sweet!"
PickyPiggy then looked at her hand which were all Plant monsters.
"Ooh, so many decisions with this one!" She said as she Normal Summoned the monster she wanted to her field, "Let's get this here duel started by Normal Summoning Lonefire Blossom in Attack Position!"
Lonefire Blossom was Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 500 ATK Points.
"Oh, this card is pretty good." Bobby said,
"Is it?" Hoppy wondered,
"Yeah, Picky runs a plant-themed deck, but she mostly plays generic plants with an archetype she has a passion for."
"...Uh-huh, I can't wait."
"Are you salty after your defeat?" DogDay asked,
"Shut it."
"Ok…"
"Hey, don't be negative, Hoppy." Bobby said, "You know better."
"You shut it too." Hoppy said,
Bobby sighed.
"I guess you ain't gonna change." She said,
Hoppy rolled her eyes and sighed as she, Bobby and DogDay went back to watching the duel.
"Now, I activate Lonefire Blossom's effect." PickyPiggy said, "With this little monster, I can tribute a face-up Plant monster including the card itself to Special Summon another Plant monster from my Deck!"
Lonefire Blossom was tributed.
"And by tributing my Lonefire Blossom, I can Special Summon a more powerful Plant monster from my deck!" PickyPiggy continued, "So here comes Chirubimé, Princess Of Autumn Leaves, in Defense Mode!"
Chirubimé, Princess Of Autumn Leaves was Special Summoned in Defense Position with 2800 DEF Points.
"Woah…" DogDay said, "What a monster!"
"So beautiful!" Bobby said,
"Guess PickyPiggy does have a thing with plants, huh?" Hoppy wondered,
"She grew up in a house that looked like a barn, so obviously." DogDay replied,
"Right…"
PickyPiggy closed her eyes and felt the breeze.
"This autumn breeze feels so nice…" She said, "Isn't nature just wonderful, CatNap?"
"...Sure." CatNap replied,
PickyPiggy sighed as she shrugged.
"Oh well, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it." She said, "For now, it's the end of my turn."
"Oh, that's it?" CatNap wondered,
"Yeah! Go on! It's your turn, buddy!"
"Alright…"
Turn 2
CatNap: 4000
PickyPiggy: 4000
"I draw." CatNap said as he draws a card from his deck to start his turn,
CatNap looked at his hand and thought for a moment.
"...It feels like she doesn't have any Spells or Traps in her hand, so I'll save Cosmic Cyclone for later." He said, "...But a 2800 DEF Points monster? Yeah, I'm gonna have to Fusion Summon a monster then."
CatNap then played a Continuous Spell.
"I activate the Continuous Spell Card, Fire Formation - Tenki!" He started, "With this, I can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior monster from my Deck to my Hand upon activation."
CatNap then searches for Lunalight Kaleido Chick and reveals it to PickyPiggy.
"Lunalight Kaleido Chick!" PickyPiggy said, "That card is also a good one!"
"...Yes, it is." CatNap said as he shuffled his deck, "Anyways, I Normal Summoned Lunalight Kaleido Chick in Attack Position."
Lunalight Kaleido Chick was summoned in Attack Position with 1400 ATK Points, but was boosted up to 1500 ATK Points with Fire Formation - Tenki's effect.
"And by the way, with Tenki on the field, all Beast-Warrior monsters I control gain 100 ATK Points." CatNap said, "Now, for Kaleido Chick's ability, which lets me send a Lunalight monster from my Deck or Extra Deck to the Graveyard for Kaleido Chick's name to become the name of that monster I sent to the Graveyard."
CatNap then sends Lunalight Cat Dancer from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard.
"Not done yet though." He said, "I will then activate Lunalight Wolf in my Pendulum Zone!'
Lunalight Wolf was in the Pendulum Zone with Pendulum Scale 1.
"Next, with Wolf's effect, I can Fusion Summon a Lunalight monster by banishing monsters from my side of the field or from my Graveyard as Fusion Materials." CatNap said, "So I'll be banishing Kaleido Chick and Cat Dancer as Fusion Materials!"
Lunalight Kaleido Chick and Lunalight Cat Dancer were banished as Fusion Materials.
"Glimmer in the newfound evolution made from the moon and stars!" CatNap chanted, "Fusion Summon! Shine, Level 8, Lunalight Panther Dancer!"
Lunalight Panther Dancer was Fusion Summoned in Attack Position with 2800 ATK Points, but boosted up to 2900 with Tenki's effect.
"Hot damn! There's one of ya Fusion Monsters!" PickyPiggy said, excited,
"Well, you're excited." CatNap said,
"Well we haven't dueled each other in forever, so that explains why!"
"Alright then… Kaleido Chick's effect activates when its banished. During this Battle Phase, you cannot activate any cards or effects, but I don't see you really complaining about that."
"Not at all!"
"Good. Anyways, time for Battle."
The Battle Phase started.
"Panther Dancer, attack Chirubimé!" CatNap shouted,
Panther Dancer did so and destroyed Chirubimé.
"Well… Guess that's it for me." CatNap said as he sets Cosmic Cyclone, "I'll set a card and end my turn."
Turn 3.
CatNap: 4000
PickyPiggy: 4000
"My turn!" PickyPiggy said as she drew a card and looked at it and smiled, "Alright, let's gamble with nature!"
"Gamble?" CatNap wondered,
"I Normal Summon Sylvan Marshalleaf in Attack Position!"
Sylvan Marshalleaf was Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 1500 ATK Points.
"There it is!" Bobby said, "That's the archetype PickyPiggy uses with her Plant monsters!"
"Oh boy…" DogDay said, "This should be interesting… I haven't seen this archetype in a while…"
"Me neither."
Hoppy sighed as she was silently shaking her head no.
"Now, here comes Marshalleaf's effect!" PickyPiggy said, "If you don't know what my Sylvans do, they're about sending cards from my deck to the graveyard, or milling, to activate effects!"
"Go on…" CatNap said,
"Basically, with Marshalleaf, I can either send 1 or 2 of the top cards from my deck to the graveyard. So I'm going with 2!"
Sylvan Cherubsprout and another Marshalleaf were sent from the top of PickyPiggy's deck to the graveyard.
"Here comes the magic!" She said, "Marshalleaf can destroy a monster you control while Cherubsprout can Special Summon a Level 1 Plant monster from my deck! But that's not all!"
PickyPiggy revealed another monster named, "Sylvan Sagequoia" from her hand.
"When a Sylvan monster is sent to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon Sylvan Sagequoia from my Hand!" She said, "And I'll gladly do so!"
Sylvan Sagequoia was Special Summoned in Attack Position with 2600 ATK Points.
"And now with Cherubsprout's effect I will Special Summon from my Deck, let's see…" PickyPiggy said as she was searching for a Level 1 Plant monster in her deck, "...Ah! The Tuner Monster, Glow-Up Bulb!"
Glow-Up Bulb was Special Summoned in Defense Position with 100 DEF Points.
"And now Marshalleaf will destroy Panther Dancer!" PickyPiggy shouted as nothing happened after she pointed to Lunalight Panther Dancer, "...Or not!"
"That's because Panther Dancer can't be destroyed by card effects." CatNap said,
"Oh, that's totally fine!"
"Ok?"
"Don't worry, I'll find another way! And I'll start by Link Summoning!"
Everyone was shocked.
"A Link Summon?!" CatNap, DogDay and Bobby shouted,
"She has a Link Monster?" Hoppy said, "Since when?"
A Link Circuit appeared.
"The materials needed are 2 Plant Monsters!" PickyPiggy said, "So I'll send Sylvan Marshalleaf and Sylvan Sagequoia to the Link Arrows!"
Sylvan Marshalleaf and Sagequoia were sent to the Bottom Left and Bottom Right Link Arrows.
"Link the circuit!" PickyPiggy shouted, "I Link Summon, Link-2, Sylvan Dancepione!"
Sylvan Dancepione was Link Summoned in the Extra Monster Zone in Attack Position with 1200 ATK Points.
"...Wow." Hoppy said, "Never seen a Sylvan Link Monster before."
"And here we are!" DogDay said,
"...Yup."
PickyPiggy smiled.
"Perfect!" She said, "Let's continue onwards by activating Sylvan Dancepione's effect! Upon Link Summoning, I can excavate a number of cards from 1 to 3 from the top of my deck, and if I excavated any Plant Monsters, I can Special Summon up to 2 of them while sending the other 1 or 2 to the graveyard!"
PickyPiggy looked at the top 3 cards of her deck, being two copies of Sylvan Peaskeeper and a Sylvan Guardioak.
"Yes! Just what I needed!" She said, "I Special Summon Sylvan Peaskeeper and Sylvan Guardioak, both in Defense Position!"
Sylvan Peaskeeper with 100 DEF Points and Sylvan Guardioak with 1500 DEF Points were Special Summoned in Defense Position. The other Sylvan Peaskeeper was sent to the Graveyard.
"Now when I send Peaskeeper to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Plant monster from my Graveyard, so I'll be bringing back Lonefire Blossom!" PickyPiggy said,
Lonefire Blossom was Special Summoned in Defense Position with 1400 DEF Points.
"And now for Peaskeeper's effect on the field!" PickyPiggy continued, "I can excavate the top card of my deck to see if it's a Plant monster for me to send, just like any other Sylvan monsters!"
PickyPiggy then reveals Sylvan Lotuswain and sends it to the Graveyard.
"And since it was Sylvan Lotuswain, I can activate its effect from the Graveyard, which lets me place up to 5 of my Sylvan cards from my Graveyard back to the bottom of my Deck in any order!"
PickyPiggy then showed her two copies of Sylvan Marshalleaf, one copy of Sylvan Sagequoia, one copy of Sylvan Peaskeeper and one copy of Sylvan Cherubsprout as she send them to the bottom of her deck in any order she wants.
"Does this end?!" Hoppy said,
"Have some patience!" Bobby said,
"Yeah, just let PickyPiggy have some fun!" DogDay said,
Hoppy chuckled.
"Fun…" She said as she looked down, "...Fun…"
PickyPiggy then clenched one of her hands into a fist.
"Alrighty, let's get this started!" She said, "I tune my Level 1 Glow-Up Bulb with my Level 6 Sylvan Guardioak!"
A Synchro Summon has started with Level 1 Glow-Up Bulb and Level 6 Sylvan Guardioak.
"Bloom with black flowers and flames burning all around you!" PickyPiggy chanted, "Synchro Summon! Come forth, Level 7, Black Rose Dragon!"
Black Rose Dragon was Synchro Summoned in Attack Position with 2400 ATK Points.
"No way…" Hoppy said, "She has one of those… Signer Dragons, huh?"
"Signer Dragons?" DogDay wondered,
"Oh, it's some dumb crap someone made up from a conversation I heard. There's plenty of copies of that monster."
"...Ok…"
CatNap was impressed.
"Wow…" He said, "This is promising."
"Yeah, well it has a special effect that lets me destroy all cards on the field upon Synchro Summoned, but I'm not gonna do that." PickyPiggy said,
"What?"
"Instead! I'm gonna carry on and activate Glow-Up Bulb's effect from the Graveyard! By sending the top card from my deck to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon it!"
PickyPiggy sends the top card from her deck to the graveyard, being Sylvan Princessprout, and Special Summoned Glow-Up Bulb on the field again, but this time in Attack Position with 100 ATK Points.
"Now I activate Lonefire Blossom's effect again!" PickyPiggy said, "By tributing Sylvan Peaskeeper, I can Special Summon another Plant monster from my deck!"
Sylvan Peaskeeper was tributed as PickyPiggy Special Summoned another Plant monster from her deck.
"So I'm gonna go ahead and Special Summon Talaya, Princess Of Cherry Blossoms!" She said,
Talaya, Princess Of Cherry Blossoms was Special Summoned in Attack Position with 2800 ATK Points, but boosted up to 3200.
"Ahh, the cherry blossoms sure are beautiful!" PickyPiggy said, "So beautiful that Talaya has an effect that suits her!"
"This is getting serious…" CatNap said,
"Talaya gains 100 ATK Points for each other Plant monster I control, and other Plant monsters on the field cannot be destroyed by card effects, as long as Talaya remains on the field!"
"Well, I'm screwed."
PickyPiggy chuckled as she straightened her cowgirl hat.
"I guess you are, buddy!" She said, "Because it's time to battle!"
The Battle Phase started, again.
"Talaya, attack Panther Dancer!" PickyPiggy shouted,
Talaya used her Cherry Blossom petals to create a storm that attacks Panther Dancer upon being slashed by the petals. CatNap took 300 Points of damage, leading his Life Points to 3700.
"Now Sylvan Dancepione, attack CatNap directly!" PickyPiggy said,
Sylvan Dancepione danced her way to an attack on CatNap, dealing 1200 points of damage to him.
"...Glow-Up Bulb will attack directly as well." PickyPiggy said,
Glow-Up Bulb attacked CatNap directly, dealing 100 points of damage to him. Embarrassed, CatNap sighes.
"Now for Black Rose Dragon to attack you directly and end this duel!" PickyPiggy said,
Black Rose Dragon fired a beam of dark pink energy at CatNap, dealing 2400 people of damage to him, leading him with only 0 Life Points. PickyPiggy won the duel.
"No way!" DogDay said, "CatNap lost?!"
"And PickyPiggy didn't even take a single point of damage." Hoppy said,
"And that was a fun duel to watch!" Bobby said,
"...Fun, yeah…"
CatNap took a deep breath and laughed a bit. He smiled at PickyPiggy.
"You still got it, PickyPiggy." He said, "You're pretty much the only critter in our friend group that I can't even beat, no matter how lucky my draws are."
"Yeah, but you haven't beaten Bobby and her new deck." PickyPiggy said,
"Oh, I forgot…"
"Here, since I'm nice, how about a duel between you, versus me, versus Bobby?"
"Woah, a 1v1v1 duel?" Hoppy said, "Haven't seen one of those before…"
"W-What?" Bobby said, surprised, "A duel between the 3 of us? Is that possible?"
"Should be." PickyPiggy replied, "Come on, let's take a few minutes before doing so."
PickyPiggy took off her hat to take a break. CatNap sighed as he was confused.
"A 1v1v1 duel…" He said, "Wonder how that will work…"
