"The General says to hold further questioning." Cordelia told Xander. "He's having MPs sent to pick Wesley up. He'll be charged with a few things to start with and probably more after he's been questioned."

"Charged with what?" Wesley demanded. "What kind of crimes could anyone possibly charge me with? Not knowing Cordelia was a clone or being a bad detective?"

"Attempting a false arrest and kidnapping of a U. S. citizen, a minor at the time, from U. S. soil, to illegally extradite to a foreign country to start with." Xander informed him, as he secured Wesley's hands to a chair after searching him.

"I had the authority of the Watchers Council!" Wesley protested.

"Which wasn't legal. You can't claim you didn't know that as a defense because you're an intelligent, educated adult who should have been aware of the law." Xander responded.

"She killed a human!"

"Accidentally, which it's unlikely would have resulted in anything more than mandated Counseling. Especially after the law learned she was a deeply traumatized homeless teenager who Giles, who had been placed in charge over her several months before, abandoned on the streets of Sunnydale. She was barely sane because of it. But you'd only been in town for a couple of days and were too busy competing with Giles to have investigated her circumstances at that point."

"I didn't know." Wesley stated. "And maybe you're right about why I didn't know, but she also tortured me after coming out of her own coma and killed other people while working for the Mayor!"

"She went to him for protection after Angel and Buffy chained her to a wall and managed to fuck the entire situation up by lecturing her about good and evil and telling her that the accident Buffy was partially responsible for made her as bad as Angelus. The Mayor did his own manipulating." Xander replied.

"Oh, I didn't know any of that."

"You found her chained to a wall in Angel's place, you found out she was there, but couldn't bother to find how or why?" Cordelia asked, astonished.

"We thought they'd captured her themselves believing her to be a murderer."

"And yet once again, no investigation. Seems to be a theme with you." Faith glared at him.

Wesley glared back and then suddenly realized who he'd been talking to. "You're Xander Harris!"

"You're just now figuring that out? And it's Corporal Alexander Harris-Chase, U. S. Army."

"Chase? Cordelia is Chase-Harris, I take it that's not a coincidence?"

"No, we left Sunnydale together five years ago, we got married three years ago."

"You mentioned Willow and the Cordelia I knew staying in contact, the Willow you supposedly cheated on her with."

"We reconciled, than found out about a year ago that Jasmine used her connection to the power she gave Willow to break us up and try to keep us apart. Us reconciling and leaving her area of influence meant she had to come up with a Plan B."

"Area of influence? That explains why she needed to use tv cameras to broadcast her message to the world, even fully manifested her area of influence didn't extend very far. But why would she want to separate you and Cordelia, why would it matter to her?"

"I'm thinking it's because I have a naturally occurring psychic ability myself. I'm precognitive and I know Cordelia better than anyone. I'd have known there was something wrong and I would not have failed to investigate. No one ever asked me how I knew where Angel lived when I made him help me go after Buffy when she faced the Master. I didn't trust him, he was a vampire and I had good reason to hate vampires after Darla killed my best friend and made him a vampire and even more reason to hate Angel after he took my vengeance from me when he destroyed her himself. Granted, that was offset by the fact that he saved Buffy by doing that. And I got over it. Revenge and hate will destroy you."

"Who's the General?" Wesley changed the subject. They'd given him a lot to think about. He'd thought his worst mistake to this point was working for Wolfram and Hart, it seemed there were a lot of things he'd never even realized were mistakes.

"My boss." Faith offered, with a wicked smile at him. "General Lawrence Higgins. U. S. Army. I'm Private Faith Lehaine and I think he might want a word with you himself. He's rather fond of me and not very fond of Watchers in general and ones that try to kidnap me in particular."

Wesley felt like a very large stone had settled in his stomach. "What is a Slayer doing in the Army?!" He exclaimed.

"I'll let my boss explain." She kept smiling at him. "After all, it's Classified."
