Chapter 26
"Hey Eraserhead, there's one large weak spot on that girl's stomach," Ragdoll said pointing at Miwako, "Why is she just helping the other students?"
"Because she is so far ahead of them all it's not even funny." Aizawa said, "There's really nothing she can do about it, it's not for me to explain further."
Ragdoll and Mandalay both stared at her. They saw what he was pointing out, she moved too swiftly, too comfortably to not know her body inside and out. Her eyes were hyper-focused on the forms of her classmates, barking out corrections like she had been doing it for years.
They turned when class 1B finally showed up looking terrified at the chaos happening in front of them. "With us, it would make it 41 students. Are the 6 of you really able to look after all of us?" One of them asked.
"7 actually," Vlad King said, pointing at Miwako, "She will also be helping out today." All of them were shocked. They all saw her during the sports festival, but she didn't show anything special besides her overwhelming speed. "I want her quirk." Monoma said as she started making his way toward her.
They all watched as he confidently strode to her position and laid a hand on her shoulder. Class 1A all froze and simultaneously glanced at Bakugou. "I wonder what makes you so special that you can train the other students here." Monoma said. Without even looking, she took his hand off her shoulder and flipped him onto his back. "This is training camp, focus on yourself."
Bakugou smirked and plunged his hands back into the container of hot water. Monoma scowled and tried using her quirk, but it did nothing. The marks didn't even appear where he put his hand. "That's enough, her quirk is uncopyable." Aizawa said and pulled him back to his class using his capture weapon.
The training was brutal and no one wanted to make food. Miwako sighed as she started delegating people their tasks to try and make it easier. "Katsuki, you're in charge of the spices and cooking the meat. Ida, Izuku, Uraraka, Sato, and Shoji are in charge of cutting the vegetables. Yaoyorozu and Todoroki, get a fire going. Everyone else, help me wash and peel all the vegetables. Nothing and I mean nothing goes in that pot without Katsuki's say so." Said boy smirked as he was basically put in charge of their meal.
"Why does Bakugou have all the control?" Kaminari whined.
"Because his food is delicious, that's why. Now less talking, more chopping, hustle people." She barked. They quickly got to their stations and started working leaving 1B in the dust as Kendo tried to get her class in order.
The curry was delicious with Bakugou being in charge of what could be added into the pot and what couldn't. While it wasn't the best thing he ever made, the class wholeheartedly scarfed it down. "Kota, come here, the food is ready." She called out. The boy, however, just frowned and turned away, walking deep into the forest.
She got up and grabbed a plate for him when Midoriya stopped her. "Is it alright if I go talk to him?" She was confused but handed him the plate anyway. "If you lose him, just come back here and I can show you where his secret hideout is." Midoriya smiled and took the plate. "Thank you!"
The next day was the same routine as the previous one, but everyone was lacking energy. "Ida pick those legs up! My grandmother runs faster than you!" Miwako screamed. She went around the camp, helping where she could until she made it to where Tokoyami was in a cave. She could hear his struggle as he tried to keep Dark Shadow at bay. She watched their struggle for control and shook her head. "Tokoyami, come out here for a second." He took several steps forward and the closer he got to the light, the less strain it was on him to take the reins back. "Uzumaki, is it my turn for your help?"
She nodded, "Damn right." Lifting her hands, she petted Dark Shadow's head. "He has a conscience of his own right?" Tokoyami nodded, "Yes, which is why it's so hard to control him at night."
"I see, have you ever wondered why he goes on a rampage at night?" he was silent at her question which she was already expecting. "Dark shadow, while he is your quirk, has his own thoughts and feelings. He is your partner for life. You need to work with him, not against him. Talk to him, form a bond that's stronger than anything else in the world and that is when your true powers will shine through." Dark Shadow nuzzled into her hands at her words.
"You seem like you've experienced this before," Tokoyami said. She smiled and nodded her head. "Yeah, I had a similar experience." She stepped back and walked into the cave. "Come on, I didn't do it alone, so neither will you." Tokoyami hesitated at the entrance, not wanting to hurt her, but she refused to move and Dark Shadow kept wanting to go near her so he relented.
Shadow Clone POV
Miwako finally made it to Deika City. It made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. The city was too peaceful and quiet. It was unnerving. It didn't take her long to find the correct house of the people in the files. It made things easier for her that they lived in the same house. She knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it for her. Akane cracked the door open slightly, the chain on the door still visibly locked. "Can I help you?"
"Yes, I was wondering if I can talk to Akane Hikari and Daichi Cho."
"I'm Akane, what do you want?"
Miwako stepped closer to the door so she didn't have to speak too loudly. "I want to know what happened to you when you were 8." Akane narrowed her eyes. She obviously didn't trust Miwako. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"I think you do, but I swear I'm just here to talk. Search me or whatever you want."
The door closed and Mwiako could hear footsteps on the other side. She closed her eyes to be able to focus on her hearing to see what was happening inside the house. She heard Akane talking first. "There's a girl at the door asking about the commission."
A man's voice follows. Miwako figured that it was Daichi. "Do you want to run?"
"I don't know. She said that she just wanted to talk, but I don't trust her. Could you see what quirk she has?"
The door opened again and this time it was a man. His eyes widened once they landed on her. "You don't have a quirk."
Miwako just shrugged. "Nope, so can I come in to talk or not?" The door closed again and she could hear them both discussing what to do. Eventually, she was let into the house and they sat in the living room.
Miwako got straight to the point of her visit. "I've been trying to dig up what the commission doesn't want to be publicly known. I have information on the people they took and what was done to or with them, but I don't have locations of any facilities to follow up on the leads. I also have a list of missing bodies. I need your help to find them and any other information you could give me."
Akane and Daichi looked at each other, still skeptical. "How do we know you won't just kill us?"
"You don't, you just have to trust me. Please, I need your help."
There was a long silence before Daichi spoke up. "We were never allowed to see the outside of the buildings. They had machines to wipe our minds of what they deemed unnecessary information. When you're there, you don't know your name, your family, or where you are. After we escaped our memories started to come back. We were kept at a facility in Oyama forest. It's underground so finding the entrance is going to be tricky."
"Do you know any other facilities?"
Daichi and Akane shook their heads and Akane was the one to speak this time. "No, they would put us to sleep whenever we were transferred to make sure we didn't know any locations."
Miwako was disappointed, but she now had a start in her search. "Do either of you remember anything about the program? Did you figure out what their end goal was, or who started it?"
Daichi and Akane looked at each other, they looked nervous. "We were never told anything other than we had a duty to the public to keep it safe. We were all numbered there and there were rumors about subject zero. They said that the program started because someone found a person with an energy manipulation quirk during the beginning of quirks popping up. The program was put together to try to recreate patient zero until it just turned into a factory of mindless human soldiers to do their dirty work."
Miwako was intrigued. Rumors and myths were always based on some amount of truth. "Who was patient zero?"
Training camp POV
They were all shaking in exhaustion while they waited for the test of courage to start. They draw lots to see who would be their partner. "Miwa! We're together." Midoriya said excitedly. He was happy he got to spend time with her, she was always so busy that he started to miss her. He saw that she was getting close to a lot of people in the class, particularly Mina and Kirishima, and he didn't want to make her busier by constantly wanting her time. Besides, there was also someone else that practically monopolized her, and he didn't particularly want to aggravate him further.
"Don't fucking say it like that nerd! Switch with me!" It was too late and Bakugou was immediately incensed by his choice of words. "There is no switching once your partner has been chosen." Mandalay said cheerfully.
The test of courage started and in pairs, they entered the forest. Miwako took a deep breath in, to see where class 1B set themselves up. Her eyes widened at a familiar scent. "Call off the test! There are villains in there with them!" She screamed.
All the teachers turned to look at her. "How-" Tiger started to ask but was stopped but was interrupted by Miwako. "Mandalay! Call the students back now!" The urgency of her voice didn't matter as none of them moved and it became too late as smoke rose above the trees. A red glow surrounded Pixie Bob and pulled her toward two villains in front of them.
It was the League of Villains again, but this time All Might wasn't here. She focused her senses to try and get an accurate pinpoint of everyone's location, "There's someone near Kota!" Mandalay froze, she had no idea where her nephew was. She turned to glance back at Miwako. "Please, please go get him."
She nodded and Midoriya followed her. He figured that since she didn't have her mark near the boy, he would get there faster but he was shocked that she was able to keep up with him without the use of her quirk. They broke through the trees right as the villain aimed a punch at Kota. Midoroya pushed his body to the limits and jumped, dragging him out of the way.
Miwako appeared behind the villain, diving down with her Tanto and ripping it through the muscles of his back. "Who the hell are you?" she asked as she moved to stand between him and the pair behind her.
"You!" He growled through the pain, "You're on the list, along with the other brat. Shigaraki wants you dead." She could smell the fear of all the students thick in the air and she made a decision. Clones of herself formed all around her. "Get to the others and protect them." she ordered and they scattered.
Midoriya looked around him and tried to comprehend what he was seeing. Her quirk was supposed to be teleportation, why-how could she make clones? "Izuku, go with one of my clones and they will take you and Kota back to Aizawa." She said, not taking her eyes off of Muscular.
"B-But what about you? You can't take him on all by yourself!"
She turned her head slightly, a swirling ball of energy growing in her hand. He could see the familiar smile on her face, making him freeze. "Everything will be fine because I am here." Her clone grabbed onto him and Kota, and the last thing he saw was her back as she jumped toward the villain who was aiming for another hit. "Rasengan!
The scenery changed around them and suddenly, they were in the forest, Aizawa standing in front of them. "Sensei! Miwako is fighting by herself and this is a clone and she was able to make this weird-" he was cut off, "That's enough, I already know of her abilities. Give me the kid, go to Mandalay, and tell her that I give permission for you all to use your quirks. Miwako, go around and collect all the students and bring them back to the building."
The clone nodded and jumped off and Aizawa ran back to base. Anxiety crawled through his veins. The original Miwako flashed to Bakugou's side right as blades came careening toward them. She grabbed the back of his shirt and dragged them backward away from the villain. Dark Shadow appeared then and struck him into the ground and then into the streets completely knocking the villain out.
Dark Shadow was out of control. "Kacchan, Todoroki-kun! We need some light!" Midoriya screamed as he ran toward them. Dark Shadow was finally subdued. "Everyone grab onto me so that I-FUCK!" She screamed as blue flames separated her from the rest.
"Don't interfere with our plans, doll." Dabi was crouched on a branch in the trees behind them. "Unless you wanna get burned."
"Kacchan! He's gone!" Midoriya shouted behind the wall of flames. Her eyes widened before they set into a deep glare. "You're after Katsuki?" Dabi jumped off the branch and shrugged. "Apparently Shiggy thinks the kid's got potential or whatnot." She tried to use the mark she had on Bakugou's back but it wasn't working. Her brows furrowed, that never happened before. She turned to run through the flames, holding back her wince as it licked at her skin, leaving angry red blisters on her skin.
Warp gates appeared in the clearing, Dabi stepped out from one right next to Mr. Compress who moved his mask to reveal 2 marbles in his mouth. She grit her teeth and moved her hands into familiar hand seals. She was slower than she should have been, but it was enough this time. "Raiton: Raikou Hitofuki no Jutsu" Lighting emerged from her fingertips that she aimed right at him. The marbles fell out of his mouth as she kept the stream going. Shoji was able to grasp one marble, but Todoroki missed his. "My my, full of surprises sweetheart." Dabi said as he flaunted the marble in his hand.
Clone POV
"They said patient zero had the ability to walk on water, to disappear instantly, and their eyes were that of a demon. Blood red with spinning tomoes that made you see your worst nightmares."
Miwako's eyes widened and she immediately stood up "Do you know anything else about patient zero?!" Daichi and Akane shook their heads."Thank you for your information," Miwako said absentmindedly and immediately ran out of the house to try to find a private place to dismiss herself. She found a dark alley and dismissed herself.
Training Camp POV
Her jutsu cut off at the influx of memories. Mr. Compress snapped his fingers showing exactly who had who as Bakugou was being dragged into the portal with Dabi's hand around his throat. Her throat constricted as she tried to process the sight before her and the unsettling information she received.
Midorya's scream shook her out of her thoughts, just as Bakugou's face started to get covered by the mist. She couldn't lose him too and without even thinking, she flexed her chakra again and appeared right by his side in the middle of a run-down bar. If she wasn't in such a panicked state, she would've known better than to follow immediately. She would have known to not put herself in such a difficult position. She would have realized all of that if she had been rational, but she wasn't. Dabi still had a tight hold on Bakugou's neck, "So you do have a mark on the brat, figures."
His hand caused her not to be able to attack freely as she wished. As fast as she was with the flying thunder god, the second she disappeared he could completely burn Bakugou's neck off. "Miwako Uzumaki, it is a pleasure to meet you. I couldn't get a good look at you last time we met, but no matter. You're here now." A voice came through the TV. The voice was familiar, she heard it somewhere before, but where? "Who the hell are you?"
"You don't know? I am hurt that your father didn't tell you about me. I even left a nice present on him, tell me, has he been eating well?"
It clicked instantly, the lost memory she was trying to remember. "All For One."
"So he did! That brings me great joy." He started laughing, the sound grating on her ears. "Bakugou here is a piece my protege wanted and I, as his master, must help him in any way I can. You must not interfere."
Compress took out a quirk-canceling cuff and started walking toward her when the AFO spoke again. "Those won't work, you would have to drug her to keep her out of the way."
"Why not kill her master?" Shigaraki asked, "She's so annoying.'
"No, I have plans for her, my dear Tomura. The drugs that could incapacitate her are in the package I sent over recently." Kurogiri bent down below the bar and grabbed the box, inside were several syringes filled with a dark purple liquid.
"Like hell I'd let you sick fucks inject me with that." She said as she went to pull out her tanto, but Bakugou's pained grunt had her snapping her head back to him. There was smoke rising from Dabi's hand. "We may need him alive, but we never said anything about keeping him healthy and whole now did we?"
Bakugou's eyes met hers and she could see the tears of pain, "Don't-Ack!" His airways were constricted as his face started to turn red, then purple. "Ok fine, fine!" She lifted her hands in the air as a way of surrendering. "Stop it Dabi."
Dabi grinned, "Atta girl, knew you'd come around." He relieved the pressure of his grip and Bakugou sagged forward as he tried catching his breaths. "Oh, I wanna do it! Pretty please~" Toga said as she bounced around the counter and stood in front of Miwako. "She's so cute, I wanna stab her."
Miwako wrinkled her face in confusion, "Thank you?" Bakugou was irked by her response, "Don't fucking thank her!"
Kurogiri slid the box over to Toga and she happily reached in and grabbed one of the syringes and stabbed her in the neck. Once it was empty, she ripped the needle out, tearing at some of Miwako's skin. She slapped a hand onto her neck in pain as she winced. Another needle was jabbed into her thigh, her vision started to go fuzzy as she could feel herself break out in a cold sweat. It wasn't just anesthesia they gave her. She could feel Kurama's chakra trying to burn off the substance in her bloodstream but it was something different. Black started to spot her vision as she felt another needle enter her back.
AN: The curse on AO3 writers are real you guys. Not even a few days after posting my latest chapters I had to rush my mom to the ER. She's doing better now and hopefully it stays that way.
