Chapter 26: Getting Ready For The Tournament

After taking Wolf home and signing up for the tournament, CatNap and DogDay were at home, looking at their decks.

"I don't think my Lunalight deck is gonna be able to handle a tournament for the first time." CatNap said,

"I really gotta upgrade my Inca deck…" DogDay said, "Do we have any cards that work well with light and dark monsters?"

"Hmmm… I'm more of a Fusion person than a Synchro person, but some Chaos cards could work."

DogDay gasped.

"Chaos!" He said, "That's it! We could make some Chaos decks for the tournament! But I'm gonna keep some of my Inca cards! I'm gonna try and see what cards I could use."

"Well you have me." CatNap said, "So obviously we can test our new Chaos decks out and see what we could use."

"Yes! Oh, this is gonna be great! Me and my buddy CatNap playing with the powers of light and darkness!"

"Day and night."

"And of course the sun and moon!"

"...You're playing with the sun and moon, as dragons."

"Oh, right! Ha ha ha…"

Bubba meanwhile was at home as he saw a picture of himself and CraftyCorn. He looked at it and sighed deeply.

"Crafty…" He said, "I'm gonna win this tournament just for you… And then, I'm gonna fix everything in our friend group. All for you."

Bobby meanwhile was laying on her bed, looking at her new cards.

"...If I win this tournament, maybe it might help me confess my feelings to PickyPiggy…" Bobby said, "And maybe help this friend group of our's… I can't lose another one…"

PickyPiggy was eating an apple in her backyard, looking at the sky.

"...Wonder why Bobby hasn't talked to me since then…" She said, "Is she ok?"

It was the next day. Only one more day until the tournament.

At least from what Hoppy will say as she was in the attic of her house, looking at the sky from the window while digging for some cards.

"One day until the tournament…" She said, "And KickinChicken stopped calling me all of a sudden… Damn it, I was trying to make things right with him! I saw that I made a big deal, but he's not!"

Hoppy sighed as she looked at a box of clothes that had her uncle's name.

"Huh…" She said, "My Uncle gave me his box of clothes he doesn't wear, yet I never really looked into them…"

Hoppy dug into the box as she found some sort of short jacket with a white buttoned shirt, sandy brown tie, dark yellow belt and gray jeans.

"Hmmm…" She said, "I might wear this for the tournament. It's my size, yes… I need some sort of redemption arc, if there is one…"

KickinChicken meanwhile was smoking weed one final time as he looked at his charm.

"..." He was silent and was confused,

KickinChicken then looks at his weed and tosses it on the ground and stomps on it.

"I've had enough of this." He said, "No more being the cool guy I am. I'm gonna show everyone that I'm better than all of them. I'm gonna win the tournament tomorrow to prove it!"

KickinChicken then headed inside his house to look into his closet. He saw a long dark gray/black jacket and smiled.

"Just what I need." He said,

The day after that was the tournament. PickyPiggy was with Bobby and Bubba.

"So you're not entered in the tournament?" Bubba wondered,

"I'm not." PickyPiggy replied, "I'm not even interested and I don't want to try and hurt our friendship together."

"Reasonable."

"We're glad you're being honest." Bobby said,

"Thanks." PickyPiggy said, "By the way, are CatNap and DogDay here?"

"They should be inside with Hoppy." Bubba said, "Come on, let's see if they are."

They head inside as they saw CatNap and DogDay were chatting together.

"Oh there they are!" Bubba said,

CatNap and DogDay turned to see Bubba, Bobby and PickyPiggy.

"Hey you guys!" DogDay said, "Nice outfits!"

"Awww, thank you!" Bobby said, blushing,

"Appreciate it!" PickyPiggy said,

"Thanks, and it's nice to see you two here." Bubba said,

"By the way, where's Hoppy?"

"Hoppy? Oh, she's–" DogDay said before being interrupted by Hoppy coming out of the restrooms,

"--Hoppy's here!" Hoppy replied with the holler, "She had to use the restrooms!"

Hoppy went over and was next to DogDay.

"So… We ready?" She said, "KickinChicken passed by before all of you arrived and he's not happy."

"Ok, if Picky isn't gonna compete, then who's competing as well?" Bubba wondered, "It's only 6 out of 8 so far."

"Picky isn't competing?" DogDay wondered,

"Nope, I don't want to make stuff worse for y'all, so I'm sitting this one out." PickyPiggy replied, "And a tournament isn't my sorta interest anyways."

"Well confusing, but understandable." CatNap said,

"Oh, let's check the bracket!" Bobby said, "Maybe it will have who we compete with!"

Everyone agreed to go to the bracket as they noticed who will be facing who. In Round 1, CatNap will be facing DandyDragon, DogDay will be facing Bobby BearHug, Bubba Bubbaphant will be facing Hoppy HopScotch and KickinChicken will be facing HoldenHowler.

"Oh, I'm facing Bobby BearHug in Round One?!" DogDay said, "Judging by her new deck of cards, I'm probably screwed."

Bobby giggled.

"Someone's gonna get their ass kicked!" She said while the other critters laughed a bit.

"And look at that, I'll be facing you at Round 1, Bubba." Hoppy said,

"Huh, you're right." Bubba said, "I don't think we've ever dueled together before."

"Well I never really dueled you boys except for Kickin, so…"

"We dueled at the house party." DogDay said,

"...I'll pretend that didn't happen."

"...Ok, fair."

CatNap sighed.

"So about your friend, Hoppy, what is DandyDragon's strategy?" He asked Hoppy,

"Uhhh, I don't know, you'll have to see it for yourself." Hoppy said, "Sorry, man."

"Right…"

A message went off.

"Attention, will those that are participating in the 8-player Duel Monsters tournament please report to the main field." The message said,

"That's us!" DogDay said, "Come on, let's go and get this tournament started!"

"I'll go ahead and find myself a seat to see y'all from afar!" PickyPiggy said, "And maybe a snack, but you get the idea!"

Everyone nodded as they headed to the main field of the Duel Monsters Tournament while PickyPiggy headed to the audience seats.
