In the last chapter we saw the group have another mission together. Though someone may be returning to their old stomping grounds back in belongs to greg wiseman and Brandon Vietti.
Chapter 14:Return To Gotham
September 21st happy harbor mount justice 12:00 pm
It was a brand new day for the people of happy harbor. But for one of them , Delilah was struggling with something. That being the incident that happened during their trip to bialya because something been bothering her ever since their trip their right now
Mainly being how that psimon guy probed her head digging through it as something weird was happening. Lately ever since then they got a day off with her doing a patrol yesterday with her mentor and teacher but something happened
She went on the patrol dealing with some common crooks but a flash went off in her head telling her something or calling her one thing
"My little girl"all she could remember from that moment right now as it still bothered her right now. With her clutching her head in her room in utter disbelief seeing the faint image of her father that left her it seems in her head
But right now she was finishing up with her shower for the day grappling with the memories in her head. Along with that she saw something strange briefly at that time but she could hardly recall it until her door could be heard knocking
Walking over to it she opened it to reveal it to be artemis as she saw her friend in just a robe right now that was black in color
"Well someone has some good news for us especially you come on"artemis said to her surprise as she got changed for the day
Once she got finished changing they all met up in the mission hall right now as before them was martian manhunter and batman right now. But something was off about the capped cursor as he was holding ghost in his hands without making any reaction as he held the pup close
"Well someone seems to like small and fluffy things eh bats"robin jokes in casual wear as batman only grunted with the martian noticing the two joining them
"You are here because we have some news for some of you"he said peeking their interest
"That would be what"kaldur questioned as batman put the pup down who ran toward his owner right now as close by someone laughed a little right now
"Mainly being that I've heard some good news. That my daughter is allowed to attend school again right now"phillip said to some surprise right now especially his step daughter who jaw dropped at the thought right now
"I can go home and see my friend"she shouted but slinked down staring at her new friend with wally laughing
"Hey that's great were more like your superfriends right"wally joked making a decent joke as j'onn chuckled for a moment stepping forward as he nodded
"Indeed you are allowed but as precaution a league will be heading with you for your return home. I have volunteered to do it since I haven't visited Gotham in some time.``j'onn said before shifting his skin and clothes right now. As he took the shape of an african american man with a gray suit and pants with a matching black tie. With him adjusting it for a moment like they were real clothes
"But if you do, head to Gotham, remain low and keep a low profile. If i catch you breaking protocol and using your powers you will remain here for the rest of your life"batman said in a dark tone as j'onn sighed
"He doesn't mean that but don't let anyone else know. Let us go by zeta"he said as she eyed the tube for a moment before staring at herself
"Is that dangerous"she asked
"Nah, very safe actually. It's sort of like instant teleportation besides go home i know i am"wally replied as she swallowed hard walking off to grab her thing for her first zeta teleportation right now
After some time she gathered her things right as they were all packed up for the trip. But she left some things here right now as right now she was preparing to leave with artemis standing there before eyeing m'gann close by
She stared at her for a bit seeing the martian staring at the human girl for a moment before tapping her chin as she snuck over toward her
"Sooo m'gann why do you keep looking at our teammate"she asked startling the martian who yelped for a moment as she stared at her for a bit swallowing hard
"Well i umm well umm….you see…just….you know don't you"She asked as the blonde hummed shaking her head
"It's quite obvious that you have a thing for her. I thought you'd be more attract to the tall hunk of muscle like conner"artemis said eyeing conner from a distance messing with that sphere they found as the martian even eyed her friend before staring at wally eating a whole burrito sloppy right now as she rolled her eyes
"Says the girl who has a thing for another red head"she thought to herself as the blonde archer twirled her hair for a moment
"Let me guess you wanna head to gotham and maybe get to know her more i guess"she asked as the martian thought for a moment sighing
"Look back on m'orzz this sort of thing was allowed but….just….well i'm an alien and i umm well….i've always wanted to explore gotham before"she admitted as the blonde archer decided to help her by nudging it before grabbing her wrist stepping forward
"Hey me and m'gann wanna come to gotham! Because it beats hanging out here with the annoyance known as wally west!"she shouted making m'gann blush as wally felt offended by that
"Hey i'm not that annoying….besides ladies love my charm i always wanted to visit gotham myself"he replied eyeing delilah for a moment as he raised an eyebrow
"I mean a beautiful dame like you could show me around unlike the boy wonder"he said as she got sick of his incisive flirting as she snapped at him growling
"I don't like boy dumbasses! I like girls!"she shouted in his face as it echoed in the hall for a moment. As there was silence for a moment as wally blinked in utter surprise right now hearing this feeling hurt that he didn't figure it out
"Seriously?! You could have just said that day one"he said to her surprise as he didn't know about this
"How did I not know this? Who else knows about this"he asked
"I knew"robin said from above as he always did with kaldur staring at him as he stared at artemis giving him that look before smirking for a moment
"Sorry KF its a girls trip unless you can rock a mop and some balloons then you can join see yah"Artemis said with a grin as he frowned seeing them approach the zeta tube as internally delilah prayed for a safe journey back home right now. With her stepping in a bright light enveloped her covering her body with a loud whirring noise being heard
Gotham september 21st 12:45pm
It was Gotham now as the sun was out for the day though inside a random warehouse right now another zeta tube was slowly glowing right now. As it did slowly coming through it where the other as it started to recognize them
"Recognized a-02 phillip bryce. Recognized 07 martian manhunter, recognized b-05 miss martian, recognized b-06 artemis. Recognized b-07 wraith"the speaker said as they all came through the other side of the portal right now
With delilah gasping in shock before staring at their current surrounding going completely wide eyed on what she was seeing that being a empty warehouse right now to her utter disbelief
"What was that?she asked as ghost was perfectly fine panting and yelping a little as philip chuckled with a smile on his face
"That was an emergency express way back home. I haven't told your mother yet that your home"phillip said making her worried as artemis sighed
"I should check up on mine as well. Well i'll call you guys later"she said but phillip cleared his throat making her stare at him for a moment
'Actually your mother and my wife are good friends she at our house"he said scaring the blonde as she eyed m'gann hoping the martian for a moment hoping she doesn't dig into her secret past right now
After that encounter they left the warehouse that seemed to house the zeta tube. They soon left that area, beginning their way through the streets of Gotham right now. As they did, m'gann was amazed by the architecture of the city, barely having the time to fully experience it right now. With her in awe of the sight which her uncle took notice of.
"It seems my niece is amazed with the sight of what is before her right now"he stated making her snap back to reality just for a moment
"I am just…surprised to see gotham like this it looks creepy at night"m'gann stated
'You are no wrong my dear. It's a beautiful place in the morning but at night it's home to devilish people. People who thrive on hurting those who can't defend themselves"phillip explained as they walked down the street
As they did, Artemis eyed some people around the place being weary of them. Especially the rooftops as she thought she saw something familiar up there. But the figure disappeared just in time as they kept tabs on the young archer laughing to themselves
"Seems little sister is back in town ... .i wonder who her friends are"she said to herself keeping tabs on the teens for now.
In a little bit of time they soon arrived at the apartment complex. Once inside they were greeted by armed security guards with them passing through. But as they did they approached them letting phillip and delilah pass but put their hands up toward the three
"Hold up. You need to go through a security check right now. Do you have an ID?"they questioned as phillip sighed
"They are with me, let them through. Friends of my daughter"he said as the guard was ready to argue but related nodding to him as they let the three through
"A Lot of security for one building"m'gann pointed out
"This is the home of someone who may have enemies m'gann. But the same person who helps supply the local law enforcement here in gotham. Criminals may not be too fond of him,"J'onn explained as that did make sense.
Quickly boarding the elevator they took it to the top floor of the massive building. Once off delilah walked forward staring at the door leading to her home right now with a nervous look as her step father placed a hand on her back
"It'll be fine dear your mother has missed you"he said as she sighed, taking a deep breath in then out. Then reaching out she knocked on the door a few times which had a pause for a moment before the doors were opened to reveal the one opening it to be amy who starred up
Before a word was said she lunged forward hugging her big sister smiling at her right now
"Sis is back"She cheered melting her heart as the ghost yipped and yipped with artemis laughing letting him go. As the young pup clawed at his other owner leg with amy picking him up cuddling him as hearing the noise was her mother
"Amy closed the door I told you about…."Katherine stopped before going wide-eyed seeing her daughter there. Before anything was said she ran over pulling her daughter head into her bust making her blush right now
"M-mom!?"she shouted nut returned it smiling as katherine was smiling in joy right now
"My little girl your back…i thought i'd never see you again but….oh you brought friends"she said noticing them as j'onn stepped forward offering a hand that she shook
"It is a pleasure to see you again, Miss nikos. I am j'onn j'onzz it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance again"j'one said as katherine chuckled recalling him welcoming them all inside right now
"It's nice to see you again let me guess your a friend of my daughter"katherine asked the martian as m'gann nodded
"I'm Megan but well since you know my uncle I'm m'gann m'orzz you know"she said as the women looked surprised welcoming them into the room. As inside the living room was paula in her wheelchair with daphne who was watching some cartoon as phillip cleared his throat
"Paula. Daphne we have some guest you might wanna see"he said as paula looked over going wide eyed before smiling seeing her daughter
"Their my little girl come give your mother a hug"She said as Artemis felt embarrassed but walked over hugging her. With daphne running over with her little legs hugging her big sister legs
"Big sissy"she cutely said making her blush but bent down picking her up sitting on a couch hugging her baby sister back right now
"Nice to see you too sis but….ummm i guess she knows"She asked pointing at the wheelchair women as artemis sighed taking a seat right now
"She does my mom knows about her and uncle ollie little identity as superheroes"she said as it confused her a little on that seeing no resemble as she seen green arrow without a mask before one time and she looks nothing like him now that she see it but she put it in the back of her head
"Well it's nice to have someone else know about it. Besides i can see on the news that you and my daughter have made the news"paula said as katherine sighed at that
"I wish you didn't have powers….i don't even know how this happened but still your doing good with them which makes me proud."katheirne added
"Well if they start making plushies for my daughter I get some of the prophets. Since well little Richie knows about your identity since I had him help make your mask for your costume. Did you bring it"he asked as she sighed with a small smile
"I did but I would rather not try it now. But this is another teammate of our m'gann i'm sure your daughter mentioned her before"delia said as m'gann waved to paula who waved back
"I do. But it seems we need to prepare a feast for tonight right now for you all being here for a surprise visit"paula said as that sounded wonderful right now
"Wonderful idea. Because our daughter is dropping some things off but still has to stay in that little cave. Though she's allowed to be at school again which is a godsend"philip said to some surprise as katherine was overjoyed right now
"That's wonderful! Ohhh i'll get started right now and you all can talk"katherine said but her daughter had other ideas
"Wait could i actually go to the academy and say hi to my friends…check on richie to see how he is"deliah said making her mother freeze for a moment as she hesitated eyeing her husband who stared at her nodding to her as she should see her friends
"Okay but please be careful okay"katherine said as her daughter nodded with her, artemis and m'gann leaving to check it out. As they did katherine shared a look with her husband who looked down hoping she doesn't react badly when she see him again.
After a trip through another limo ride which was nice to have for m'gann since shes never had one. But they slowly made their way through the gates of gotham academy as the car parked up front. With the doors opening by the butler as the martian looked up in shock by the design of the structure right now before.
She was in awe of the sight as she never seen something so well built or gothic in her life. Seeing her staring artemis whistles to her teammate
"Come on megan lets go inside and explore"Artemis said snapping her back to reality
"Right…so uhhh whats the first stop on our visit."m'gann quickly replied
"That would be the dorms let hope everyone doesn't swarm me for questions"deliah prayed with hope right now
As they walked inside of the academy it was too late. Because immediately once she got inside she was bombarded with several questions from her peers. With them all in confusion seeing she was back in school after two weeks of being missing from class. She made up a excuse saying she needed to go to some trip with her dad.
As luckily it worked with a rumor thankfully going around that she went on some trip with her family. Thank goodness for her status as a gotham rich girl. But they were in the dorms with her sighing in relief as they dodged more of the riff raff
"Thank god where out of that…but lets hope the dorms are more tame"Artemis said
"It better because that was alot of people. I thought i'd lose my shapeshifitng back their"m'gann added
Delilah sighed wondering if she'll see her friends as she just might. Turning the corner toward her dorm her eyes light up to see meadow and sean outside in the hallway. Along with barbara their as she couldn't help but call to them
"Guys!"she called out making them turn to face her as their eyes went wide. Immediately the first to sprint over was sean who wrapped his arms around his friend smiling in joy right now
"D! Ohhhhh man your such a sight for sore eyes right now i could kiss you! "Sean said before pausing shaking his head laughing as he released her. But meadow praticualry jumped onto her kicking her legs squealing in joy
"Your okay! We thought you went to jail or something?"meadow cried in joy as barbara sighed shaking her head
"Apperenty not. Because apparently recently on the news information went around saying their is a new hero going by the name of….wriath"barbara said staring at her friend rolling her eyes as she was too smart for her own good
"Oh no…i've been found out we might need to wipe your mind"deliah joked as m'gann flinched right now that their idneities have been found out
"Oh no! You've been found out…..batman will be mad if they tell others we need to call him and uncle j'onn"megan shouted as artemis covered her mouth forgetting that these three know as she sighed
"M'gann they know…..knew at the first moment she showed her powers but….ummm…."she paused eyeing sean for a moment as she visited class on certain days as he looked away with delilah ntoicing that confused
"Hey whats up? You look upset about something"She said as they got quiet unsure of how to tell her. But a door could be heard opening as she looked over but went completely wide eyed on what she was seeing
That being her best friend since she was a little kid right now as richie was in his usually attire for the day he wore on his free time. But what shocked her was that he was now in a wheelchair with him having a blanket on his lap colored dark purple.
Their was an utter silence between them right now as he moved a stick making his wheelchair move close to her. Doing his best he reached up hugging his friend with an upset look right now knowing how she react
"Deliah…it aint your fault"he softly said but this made delilah shake for a moment before she cracked beginning to sob right now seeing her friend like this because of her actions.
After some time they soon got into their dorm room with them all going silent right now. As they where staring at their friend who was still crying a little after seeing her friend in a wheelchair because of her actions with them trying to reassure her everything was fine
"Hey it'll be alright D….at least rich is okay"meaodw said looking at the positive as delilah smashed her hand onto her desk
"How is it fine!? My best friend is in a dam wheelchair because of me being an idiot!"she cried in rage as the blue haze came off her bodie scaring them as barbara made her friend sit down to calm her nerves
"Look i know things look grimm right now but…rich you say it"she said as he sighed placing a hand on his numb legs sighing
"Look i know what happened that night may seem like your fault. But…"he paused wheeling himself close grabbing his friends hands her look up at him right now with tears still in her eyes as he gently smiled at her
"Right now i know this alot the doctors say that I may not be able to walk right now. Although that night i thought i was going to die in that dusty and dirty warehouse but…"he paused squeezing a little with a grin on his face
"But that night also did one thing for me wanna guess what it is?"he asked with her sniffing rubbing her eyes from her tears for just a moment
"What?"she asked with a horased voice as sean smirked smacking his fist together
"Richie here got a internship with starlabs along with that grappling gauntlet peeking a certain heroes interest. A few nights ago he got visited by batman himself questioning him if he made it. "Sean explained to their surprise hearing the buddy hero was interested in something so simply
"Wait are you serious?"artemis asked
"No! Richie even got requested to make that costume of yours! But…."meadow paused before pointing at artemis right now as she was curious about something
"Why did this random girl react when we mentioned her powers"She questioned making the blonde freeze right now. With m'gann twiddling her thumbs for a moment as delilah sighed looking at her friends calming herself down for a moment
"Look can you guys keep a secret and a promise right now?"she aksed as they got silent for a bit before sean made sure the door was blocked. As barbara shoved a towel underneath leaning against the door nodding
"We can i've known you a long time….is this serious?"she asked as their was a moment of silence. With her giving the martian a nod of approval with m'gann sighing. Slowly her skin started to change from caucasian to a green color to their shock
Their was a utter silence between them on what was in their room right now that being a true alien. Expecting some hate or slurs her way m'gann prepared for the worst. But meadow squealed jumping around on the bew she was on
"Oh my god! Are you a alien!? awesome!"She cheered which wasn't a reaction m'gann was expecting right now by the teens.
"Wait…you aren't gonna freak out and call the military"Artemis replied as sean held his face his complete shock
"You kidding me? Were meeting a alien and my friend got superpowers. But….ah i owe rich twenty dollars that we meet a alien"sean said but richie laughed with a wide grin on his face
"This is awesome….but wait…are you martian manhunter partner or something"he aksed excited as she sighed
"Try niece….my name is m'gann but i go by megan for my human identity"she said going back to her disguise as barbara blinked in surprise humming
"This is an interesting piece of information. I guess….artemis here is a hero as well"barbara questioned as artemis crossed her arms for a moment
"Maybe…but lets keep this on the downlow. We gotta head for dinner now….wanna come with"artemis asked as they nodded
After a quick drive back to the apartment complex and once inside the teens were welcomed. As katherine and phillip where surprised to see their daughter calm demeanor with richie but happy that she took it well. They all got seated for dinner for the night to enjoy a nice meal back home
But unknown to them watching from the distance was a slender young women with a fit build to her. She had thick black hair with her hiding behind something. A white mask resembling a cat head with red stripes and a wide grin. As she wore a dark green colored kimono that had shreds and rips along it. The kimono was tied around her waist as it reached just above her knees with a pair of black knee high boots. Along with a pair of sais on her hips as she laughed
"Well well little sister…you've made interesting company. Seems nightshade little girl is friends with my baby sister. This will be interesting"She said before disappearing into the night as it seemed this strange wome knows of artemis past.
With that we conclude another chapter that had us meet artemis sister jade/cheshira. But what did cheshira mean with katherine being known as nightshade. More to come in future chapters, hope you enjoyed!
