In this chapter the team will be sent on a new mission to texas for someone specific a new team member. Someone who I will explain at the end of the chapter. But who will they be?Work belongs to greg wiseman and Brandon Vietti.
Chapter 15:A Cowgirl and Vigilante
Texas september 22nd 8:03 pm
It was a late and cold night in the country of texas right now in the small town of dripping springs. A rural countryside town that had nothing special to it right now. But right now in a certain little mechanic shop was someone right now. That being its worker along with well being its owner
As right now inside the shop working on a motorbike right now was a girl. That girl was about sixteen in age as she had fair skin with her having a set of brown colored eyes. As she had flowing red hair that reached her middle of her back. Along with that having a fit and pair of curvy hips to her.
Along with that she sported a pair of jeans with rips throughout them along with a pair of rattlesnake boots with spurs on the end. Their was also how she wore a tan colored plaid long sleeve with the sleeves rolled up showing off her arms off. Their was also how she had a dark grey vest on over it with a symbol of two revolvers over a hex like symbo. But she wore a belt with the symbol of texas on it as she wore a tan cowgirl hat on.
But she was busy humming to herself right now as she was using a wrench to fix up on the bike she was working on. While she did she kept twsitng it as she set it to the side grabbing some tubes making sure they where on tight but soon someone called to her
"Heyya kiddio you done fixing my ride?" a male voice called out as she looked up to the source
As it belonged to a man who had a well fit and toned appearance seeming in his mid thirties right now. Along with that he had fair skin with him having black colored eyes and black hair undenreath a white cowboy hat with a black bar around it. Their was also how he wore a pair of white pants with tassel on the thighs with a dark blue long sleeve coat similar to a western shirt from cowboy movies. With him sporting a red bandana around his neck
"Heyya greg nothing much almost done"the girl said getting up grabbing a rag spitting to the side as he chuckled
"Girly only my friends call me greg…but eh i knew your ma so its fine"greg said walking over to a fridge close by. Opening it he pulled out a couple bottle of sapsrilla as he groaned setting them down grabbing a bottle opener
Quickly he opened them as the girl walked over taking one
"Much obliged my mentor and well boss"she said offering her bottle to clink glasses as he took his clinking the bottles together as she drank hers
"Come on kiddio you gotta understand. Your a kid and well i mean this shop was your moms pride and joy. Besides jinny i know what you've been doing"greg said making her stop mid sip as she set her bottle down staring at him tipping her hat
"That would be what?"jinny aksed as greg stared at her for a long moment as he sighed taking his hat off to scratch his head for just a moment
"You know darling i may do the superhero work but…you…your just a kid and well….your ma would kill me"greg said as jinny scoffed spitting on the ground cracking her knuckles for a moment
"Come on. I mean not like anyone knows its me…besides i gotta keep up my old ancestor legacy as a lawman. This was his home"jinny said as greg sighed about to speak but someone laughed a little ahead of them right now
"Oh bueno, si eres un agente de la ley. Prueba suerte en encerrarme pepqueno(oh well if your a lawman. Try your luck on putting me away little one"a male voice spoke up getting their attention
Looking over they saw the source belonging to a fairly large hispanic man with dark brown eyes and a muscular appernace. Along with being taller than any average man as he wore brown cargo pants and a sleeveless muscle shirt tucked into his pants with a large buckle. Along with black gloves and boots. Along with wearing a white lucha libre mask
As by his side where a group of armed men with automatic weapons who was itchy on the trigger finger. But greg stood up staring him down scoffing as he spat on the ground
"Well it'll be my luck. When did the batman little wrestling partner decide to come and spar with little old me"greg said as bane laughed smashing his fist together as he cracked his neck smirking at him
"Oh i've been payed handsomely to deal with you. Now….little girl your coming with me to see your papa"bane said as jinny stared him down as she smashed the bottle in hand before pointing it at him
"Come at us…i aint going with my pa who abandoned my ma"jinny said as bane smiled tiwsitng a device that looked like a black guanlent. But as he did he growled as venom was flowing through his veins as he panted before smiling at them smashing his fist together for a good brawl right now.
September 23rd mount justice happy harbor 8:43am
At happy harbor more improtnaly in mount justice after a couple days of what happened in bialay. Right now enjoying some time to himself was superboy who actually found some solace in the form of that strange sphere they found back in the country right now
Because for some reason its like he understand the machine along with that he can hear it talk to him. Though its been great as a souenvrio and well team pet since he took it in. but hes taken a liking to the machine as he also taken up some other hobbies as of late mainly being some maintenance for the machine which was hard to figure out
As right now inside the kitchen of the hall right now he was enjoying some breakfast alongside the other who returned to gotham. Though deliah seemed down about something as she messed with her food for a bit
"So everyone here for today. So….how was gotham girls?"he aksed to be nice
"Not too bad. Didn't see the brooding dark knight or his kid sidekick who is chidlihs"Artemis jokingly replied making him laugh right now as robin was messing with his bo staff
"Come on i aint that annoying as kid mouth here"robin replied making kid flash eye him down for that comment right now
As kaldur sighed"You two are always like this. But we should be prepared for anything today"kaldur said as something tugged on his pant leg
Looking down he looked to see ghost who still is staying with them tugging on his leg for pets. As the atlaian picked him up staring at him rubbing his fur as m'gann sighed doing some dishes right now with a small pep in her step
"Well someone is getting friendly with a fluffy company"m'gann said as watching close by from below was sphere. As the sphere beeped and booped for a moment getting superboy attention as he stard at it rubbing his head
"I think sphere wants something'he said as they all walked over eyeing the strange machine that spun around in a circle for a moment as this confused wally heavily
"Uhhh does it wanna go outside and take a leak or something"Wally joked
But soon enough suddenly the speaker to the hall came on"team report to mission briefing we need to talk about something right now"nico voice rung surprising them as it died with robin humming in intiruge
"Wonder whats our new mission for today. Better not be us getting our minds wiped….again"robin said
"It'll be fine besides we could get another souvenir like the sphere again"wally added as they rushed down to the mission briefing with deliah slowing down a little which artemis picked up on for a moment
"Hey you good over here?"She aksed as the superherione flinched for a brief moment
"I'm fine…just tired is all and processing that my friends know i'm a superhero gotta keep that on the downlow is all"she replied quickly running ahead making artemis eye her with some worry for a moment
Once they got down to mission briefing they soon arrived as waiting for them was revanant/nico along with green arrow by his side as he sighed for a moment
"So for once i'm leading this team mission intel since bats is busy in gotham with arms dealers. So you kiddios wanna know your new mission today"green arrow asked
"Sure thing might be fun"wally replied placing his hands behind his head as nico pressed a button displaying greg on the screen with some staring at it
"A cowboy?"conner asked
"Not just any cowboy you all ever hear about the vilganlante a new none powered superhero going around in texas and my home turf of mexico"nico asked as robin went slightly wide eyed hearing that
"Wait thats him? Hes sort of like bats if i last recall along with that hes sort of a resident gunslinger in a way with his revolvers."robin said
"So he kills people"Artemis questioned but was siwflty corrected
"Not kill he stuns them with them and ties them up with his lasso. But me and him are good friends you know. Though something early happened and its bothering me right now"nico said playing the next image as it showed jinny their which caught some interest especially wally who whistles at the sight of the dame
"Well aint she a tall glass of cowgirl"wally joked making artemis narrow her gaze at him for that as nco chuckled
"Don't be fooled by the little lady here. Shes pretty much his sidekick in a way meet well jinny shes sort of a new lawwomen by his side. Along with that someone i've been considering adding to your team actually"nico said to their surprise right now hearing she could be a new member
"Wait you want us to go recruit his sidekick?"deliah asked puzzled
"No. recently we got a call from greg that something happened and recently it sounded bad. Because guess who they ran into and was visiting from santa prisca"green arrow said as it displayed the next image of bane before them as they eyed it with artemis sighing
"So were dealing with a roided out supervillain shouldn't be hard"artemis replied
"It shouldn't but your to go assist him and her in convincing them to seek the league help."green arrow said as kaldur stepped forward nodding to the man
"Agreed we shall go immediately get ready"kaldur ordered as they all stroemd off toward the bioship for their next new mission along with their potential new member for the team
Texas september 22nd 10:39 am dripping springs
The team sped off on bioship for their mission right now to the town dripping springs. But as they flew over their they landed off a bit away with them taking a spot near some ridgeline. As robin was scouting the area kaldur knelt by his side
"What do you see?"he asked as robin eyed the town seeing nothing but civlains moving around like nothing was going on as he looked up surprised for a moment
"Nothing much actually. I mean…everything seems normal"robin relayed
"Then we should head in and check it out but we might draw a bit attention in their"Artemis replied
"It'll be fine where superheroes besides it aint a covert op like the other ones. A few of us might stick out though"wally said eyeing the girl with green skin and superboy along with wraith getup who covered herself not liking him staring still
As they decided to head into town for the time being they got in rather quickly. Once their they examined the town before them looked very simple. But something was a little off right now which they noticed immediately. The entire place looked more like an old western style town which confused them heavily right now.
With a nearby resident passing them in a set of old western style clothing staring at them for a moment with superboy eyeing them down
"Is it me or does anyone else see someone in western clothing"he asked
"You aint the only one SB. all of them are wearing western clothing i expect to see this in texas but…all of them are and…their no cars even"wally commented on this discovery as robin eyed the surrounding noticing parts of the town was still modern right now with the resident coming through as their appearance shifted into a western style
"Seems that were dealing with magic which means we might be dealing with something more than a common brute"robin stated
"Oh great magic again i mean science has to confirm this"wally argued
"I thought you believed in magic since you used doctor fate helmet wally"m'gann reminded as wally looked away for a moment nerovusly laughing at that as he did do that. But as they were walking kaldur looked at the address they where given to meet their contact at
"We should hurry and find our contact if were quick enough we can help them and solve this issue"kaldur said as they continued on but watching from a distance was a few of bane henchman who nodded to each other as one grabbed a radio
"Boss we got eyes on those kids from the factory. Their are two new ones"the thug said as bane laughed on the other end
"A rematch….i will be their with our employer soon"bane replied
With the team they soon arrived at a mechanic shop that looked normal compared to the rest of the town. But one thing was noticeable their were bullet holes and sorch marks alongside the outerwall of the place. Along with that their were empty shell casing as artemis picked one up examining it
"A standard cartilage used for…rubber bullets"she commented as robin examined one scanning it as his holo glove displayed the bullets
"Yep you got it right. Seems our mysterious lawman used rubber bullets to fight crime smart if their expert marksmen"robin relayed as superboy eyed the shop for a bit staring at it before laying his eyes on the bike parked out front
As he walked over he examined the bike right now for a moment staring at it. Something felt right about this as he tried to reach out to touch it. But his hearing picked up the cocking of a gun as he cocked his fist back growling
"We got company!"he shouted but then the barrel of a gun was planted below his chin right now. All of them looked over to see jinny pressing a gun toward the clone jaw as she narrowed her gaze at him for a moment
"Now you all better start backing away slowly because i fully on planning filling this one here with rubber lead"jinny said but quickly kaldur stepped forward putting his hands up to seem less dangerous
"Wait! Your jinny your the student and partner of one greg sanders correct"kaldur asked surprising her for a moment but she dug the barrel deeper into the kryptoinia jaw right now with a narrowed gaze spitting to the side
"So what? Because right now you got five seconds. How do you know my ma friend"jinny questioned again as robin stepped forward smirking
"Well lets just say were on your side. Revanant sends his regards"robin said to the cowgirl surprise as she kept a steady eye on them waiting for one to make the first move. But she lowered her rifle before motioing for them to follow her right now
They did relucnelty as they followed the cowgirl through the town to their next deisnaiton. After a few minutes they arrived in the back of the mechanic shop at a simple two story house. That had a hog parked out front with it looking like the rest of the town. But jinny rushed over opening it motioing them to come inside
Quickly all of them rushed inside as she closed the doors locking it. Once inside it revealed a simple home witha maroon couch with a wool blanket on it. Along with that their was a ratty looking kitchen from the looks of it. Their was also a medium size tv for someone to watch with their being a coffee table. But their was also some stuffed animals in the room with a few posters of cars and bikes around the place. Their was also a tool kit on the side but one thing stood out
That being greg who was shirtless with him in the process of rubbing his side. As he was banagded up with their being bruises on his face along with him spitting into a bucket with a still slightly bloody mouth
"Greg we got visitors partner"jinny said as he looked up seeing who was here as the gunslinger laughed
"Well i'll be my buddy pulled through and sent me some backup"greg said getting up but winced heavily in pain clutching his side. As wally sped over making him sit down for a moment
"Hey easy old timer your hurt""he warned but this made the hero stare at him for being called old
"I aint that old kid! Just hurt from that dumb brute hitting me is all roughed me up pretty good"greg stated as they sat down with artemis keeping an eye on the window with them deicidng to get some answer right now
"So ummm we'd like some answers what happened here"m'gann questioned as the two got quiet with greg sighing as he rubbed his still sore jaw from his brawl as he explained
"Well if you got told what happen briefly. One night me and jinny here were just relaxing as she just finished up doing some maintenance on my hog. But thing is that night i had a esteemed visitor in the form of that venom addicted luchidor"greg started
"Bane….but why would he be after you? I mean you have no grudges with him at all"robin said surprised by this fact as the two where as well
"You don't know the half of it. Because i'm more pissed what he did to my hometown"jinny replied as they guessed on what he did
"Let me guess bane has magic and wanted to live his life in a western flick"wally joked as artemis bumped her shoulder against him as they corrected him
"Try my friend daughter pa guy by the name of jack duckett"greg explained to some surprise but that made robin eye widden a little as he took out his hologlove
"Wait hold on jack duckett his name sounds familiar"robin said typing away on his hologlove before he got a hit on it. As suddenly it showed a very old timey photo from the 1800s with deliah looking very confused right now
"Ummm are you interested in looking at old cowboy pictures"she asked
"No that name look. Says here that jack duckett was a good old friend of one jonah hex. A lawman from back in the day renowned for his gunslinging abilities along with being sort of like a superhero for that time"robin explained as jinny crossed her arms for a moment
"Along with being my great ancestor"jinny added to some surprise as they stared at her for a moment
"Wait your saying your…."artemis paused as she nodded with her sighing
"Last name hex i'm his great great great….grandaughter who decided to take up her grandfather legacy since my mom told me stories about him"jinny explained as wally looked puzzled staring at the other man in the phot. As he looked to be in his mid twneites with him having red hair like her as he stared at her for a moment
"Wait a minute you said your father name was jack duckett says here the guy was born in the 1800s. How is that possible"kid flash asked
"Becuase he aint really dead. That man is sort of like a immortal being if you will. For years hes been after one thing from the hex family something known as the godeye"greg explained
"The god what now?"deliah questioned
"The godeye a mythical artifact that can pretty much make you a god. But…it can also change reality if i recall which means what happened outside was because of him messing with the universe"robin deduced
"Good on yah kiddio. But this pa of hers was a legendary lawman himself back in the day went by the name of three eyed jack. But we need help keeping this little beauty safe and figuring out a way to stop her pa"greg said walking over to something
That being a trunk from the look of it as he grabbed a key close by inserting it as he twisted it unlocking the key. Once he unlocked it he opened it with a glow coming off the trunk right now as he reached inside pulling something out. That being a golden orb with a slit in the middle making it appear like some sort of eye in a way
The team stared in surprise right now as kaldur examined it from a distance right now.
"It seems this is the artifact that caused what it occurring in your town"kaldur mentioned
"It sure is kiddio. But we need to make sure the town goes back to normal he managed to twist some of it with this briefly. But well me shooting him in the leg worked just fine sucker was belly aching from miles away"greg said
"Good then we come up with a plan and deal with him then where done"wally said as they stood their superboy hearing picked up again as he eyed the windows near the front door.
Staring at it he went wide eyed immediately shielding some of them. Before suddenly gunfire started to come through the windows and door making m'gann scream as they all ducked for cover. With jinny flipping over a couch as they dashed for cover right now as artemis growled with a bullet narrowly hitting her in the head
"Dang it! They followed us!"she shouted as they waited for the gunfire to ceast for a moment before long it did. As slowly the sound of footsteps was heard as robin peeked outside to see someone familiar that being bane in the flesh right now with him having his goons close by but something else as well
That being a man in his late twneites with fair skin along with having black hair slicked back as it was tucked undenreath a black cowboy hat with a purple eye slit in the middle. Along with that he wore a full black wstern style outfit with a trench coat in the mix as he had purple eyes himself. But on his hips where a pair of revolvers with a rifle on his back as he spat to the side laughing
"Well aint this a surprise. My lovely little girl brought a few friends of hers….or well hired guns like i recokon"jack said with a grin as jinny growled
"You bastard! I aint calling you my pa now either leave or were calling superman!"jinny shouted back before staring at them
"You called him right?"she whispered as superboy growled with wally laughing a little gesturing to the clone
"You have superboy instead which is better i'm sure"wally said as jack stepped forward kicking some shell casing to the side as he scratched his chin for a moment staring at them
"Now i aint a betting man but uh you have an hour to come to the center of this here old town. Because you either give me the godeye or else"jack threatened as kaldur peeked slightly from cover staring him down
"And if we don't?"he questioned as the gunslinger smiled as bane laughed stepping forward
"My friend here has handosmly payed me plenty. But….we have incentive you see we planted a bomb in the center of town. I got the dead man switch you bring us what we want or everyone goes boom. Try anything else and my men will-"he was stopped
"Blow the bomb we get it! Fine we'll meet you in the center of town you muscle bond brute!"greg shouted back to their surprise as jack smiled walking away with his posey as the teens all slowly got up with them staring at the cowpoke who dusted himself off
"Okay buddy you insane because your kinda putting the town at risk. If you said that thing is powerful we need to keep it out of their hands"deliah commented as greg laughed tipping his hat a little
"Don't worry little lady i got us a plan. You are my issued deputies for now so listen up cowpoke we got a town to save"Greg said coming up with a plan to save this town from the immortal gunslinger of long ago.
with that we get introduced to bane and three new charater who are from the comics acutally. The first being jinny hex whos actually from the young justice comics believe it or not. Shes the great grandaughrer of jonah hex. While Viganlante is based off of well the charater viganlante. Though I based him off of the one from the show justice league unlimited. While three eyed jack is jinny real father in the comics. Thanks for reading!
