Heroes POV
"Can we trust her?" Tsukauchi asked once they were in the car.
"Should that not be a question we ask you, Detective," Nezu asked from where he sat in the back row of the car. Eraserhead sitting in the drivers seat.
"She didn't lie after I caught her," Tsukauchi hummed as he leaned back in his seat, pulling his notebook out to review the notes cleared out.
"But she's afraid," Eraserhead chipped in. Starting the car and the drive to their next destination. "This is more than just a stumble upon. She went so far as to dye her hair and wings and her name not even mentioned."
"You think she has hunted them here," Nezu asked looking to the review view mirror making eye contact with the prohero.
"I don't know," Eraserhead answered honestly with a sigh propping his elbow on the side of the car before propping his chin on his fist. "But she knows them far more intimately than just a one time meeting."
"She knows where she would go," Tsukauchi spoke softly, tapping the paper with his pencil. Silence reigned for a long moment as this sunk in.
"One thing is clear no matter the case, Izuku Midoriya is asking for help, and if we turn her away she do not believe she will ever reach out again." Nezu hummed with a bowed head thinking of the girl who had fled after using her name and asking a likely far to sensitive question. "We shall look into this case, but we will proceed with caution."
"We should use Manuel's agency," Tsukauchi spoke up, "he has a look the other way policy with vigilantes so long as they don't go to far, and can officially ask us to be here."
"Fat Gum and Ingenium would also be helpful allies. Fat Gum does have a way with difficult children. Ingenium with organizing resources and people." Eraserhead volunteered other heroes that he wouldn't mind working with. "They would also be helpful in calming any and all victims we come across."
"That would take care of any territory disputes, and needed resources," Nezu hummed pulling out a tablet from seemingly somewhere. "We may also need a ranged aspect, as Midoriya did express concern about getting close. While this could be metaphorical I do wish to show we are taking what little warning she has shared about this group very seriously."
"Snipe has been complaining about downtime," Eraserhead huffed, and that got Nezu to giggle.
"Yes, I suppose he has, well I suppose we shall fix that." Nezu chirped as they arrived at the Manual Hero Agency.
"Well, let's see how this goes." Tsukauchi sighed as he took off his seat belt. The group of three all got out of the car, though Nezu did quickly climb up his employee's legs to get up onto the taller man's shoulders so he could be eye level with most of the world.
"Ah, wonderful, I am glad you brought us here, Aizawa, right on point as always." Nezu happily approved of the underground heroes actions.
"It would be illogical to waste time," Eraserhead grunted as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
"You know, it may not matter if we believe the girl or not," Tsukauchi looked up at the unassuming building that blended in with all the others. Manuel was known for his simplicity and actively encouraged it with everyone who would listen. "If Manuel doesn't invite us, then there is nothing we can do."
"Yes, I do suppose you are right," Nezu hummed softly. "I suppose we will need to be really persuasive."
Eraserhead POV
I moved over the rooftops silently. Not wanting to draw attention, the vigilantes had left the apartment they had settled into after being there two nights. It was the second night that they had done this and we were taking the chance this time. It had taken some convincing to get Manuel to accept the case, it had taken far less work to ask to assist. The normalcy hero always happy to take the simplest road. 'Why deny experienced heroes that already know the case?' he had responded. Ingenium spoke by my side, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Nezu, sure they are going to gone long enough for this?" Tensei asked at my side once we had gotten to the right building, and I was kneeling before the roof entrance and picking the lock. He was dressed in his stealth uniform, it wasn't able to handle his full speed, but it was dark and not made of the plate armor that his family had been using for 3 generations now.
"Seems to, why else would you be here?" I snipped back at my friend.
"Haha Sho, ha ha," Tensei laughed dryly, but the smile was still there under his helmet. A few more moments and the door clicked and we were in. Quickly we made our way through the building. It was a shit shty with the wall paper peeling, doors that looked moments from falling apart. Dirt and smog in every crevice. It looked like a place only the desperate and those on the wrong side of the law would be. It fit well for a base for a group of vigilante's no one would question their comings and goings. Using the paper with the apartment number on it to find the right door. When I moved to pick that lock too, the door instead popped open, leaving us both to freeze for a long moment before Tensei reached out, placing his hand flat on the door and slowly pushed it open to reveal an empty room, well, a room with no people, there was a table with abandoned noodle cups and a pot with scorch marks on the bottom. Stepping into the space there was close to nothing, it was a stuffy studio apartment that had been clearly part of a subdivision. In the corner opposite the door close to the window there were two sleeping bags, set up looking like a nest with some ratty pillows, and grocery bags on the counter in the tiny kitchen. Peeking into the bags to find more noodle cups and snacks.
"According the the manager, they are only paying for water," Tensei spoke softly as he shut the door silently behind him.
"Illegal," I grunt as renting the property they should have gas, electricity, and water, but really it should be expected in this setting.
"Not much we can do about it now," the idiot agreed, it was smart, saving the money and pretty much leaving no trail. If we didn't know what Izuku's disguise was we wouldn't have been able to learn anything from the building manager. A brown haired girl with green eyes, the manager didn't see wings, but he did say she had a hunch, so close enough knowing the girl went so far to willingly bind her wings at times.
"Let's hurry up, they could be back at any moment," I grunted and we quickly started laying out what bugs we could, with the lack of furniture the places to hide mics and cameras were lacking heavily. A mic in a light, a camera in a shadow between the cabinet and fridge. Tensei almost put a bug in the bedding before i could stop him. My watched chirped once and we were moving. Needing to leave before we were caught, making our way from the front door. Once we were out of the multistory apartment building and a few blocks away, Tensei sighed as I pulled out my phone and called Nezu. The phone rang twice before it was answered.
'Aw, Aizawa, did everything go to plan?' Nezu asked over the line in that stupidly chipper voice.
"Yes, they left the door open for us," I said as Tensei reached up and pulled off his helmet, a smile resting on his face.
'Did they, hmm, interesting, well, that is all for tonight, please return safely.' and with that, the rodent hung up the line.
"What he say," Tensei asked softly as I lowered the phone.
"Nothing of value, head home, get some rest." I looked over to him.
"Can't need to go pick up Tenya, was supposed to watch him tonight," he pulled his helmet back over his head and the engines in his arms started up as he prepared to run. "Though it is fun sneaking around again. I'll see ya tomorrow." and with that my friend was gone. Zooming down the street as I watched him leave.
"You finally get a team together?" Hearing Midoriya behind me was a surprise for certain, it took everything not to jump and attack as I turned to look at the girl. She looked bad, not that she had been attacked, but still, it had only been two days since the coffee shop and there were now bags under her eyes that rivaled my own, and she was covered in dirt, and a metallic scent was in the air, so even blood was a possibility.
"What are you doing here kid," I hissed at her as I calmed myself back down, watching as she tilted her head at me, her eyes flicking over me in a way that reminded me of career criminals or heroes, ones with heavy affiliations.
"Heading to the apartment, we been waiting for you," She pushed her hands into her pockets, no doubt fiddling with the knife hiding there.
"So, you have been waiting for us," It was surprising even, I had never encountered vigilantes willing to let us in like that. Let us access their base knowingly.
"I told you, well, Nezu, we are giving this a shot, so we are making this easier on you. Just keep your eyes on the shared problem." She looked towards where Tensei ran away too. "It is only one chance. I don't know what you know about the deal, but…. If you fail, if you do not meet expectation. I am leaving, and I will not be looking back this time."
"And where will you go?" I ask softly intending to dig out any information I can out. I was rewarded with a shrug.
"Somewhere outside of Japan." Was all I got before she turned heading back to the building. "I hope you prove the others wrong Eraserhead. I am tired of loosing." and it seemed that was the kid's goodbye as she walked away.
