Worldkiller

Mid-December 2022

Ever since the Kryptonian symbols had first appeared across the city, Kara had been perplexed. So far, the person or thing responsible for it hadn't come forward and all the records she could access came up with nothing.

Unfortunately, she couldn't go to the biggest source of Kryptonian knowledge on the planet: The Fortress of Solitude. Clark was running a major update on the computer systems and upgrading the Fortress in a whole, so everything there was down for a few more days. It was frustrating to be cut off from it right now, especially as all the books her Aunt Astra had on their culture had proved fruitless for Kara – and with Astra off-world with her betrothed, the Green Lantern Ha-Pri, she couldn't turn to her relative for help.

She had tried to contact the multiverse, using the system in Alex's office, but that had been malfunctioning, while Cisco – who could open portals to other worlds – hadn't been able to get off this world either. It was odd, and Kara wondered if their sudden inability to visit the multiverse was linked to this new Kryptonian problem.

Being a Paragon of the Multiverse though, Kara didn't feel too worried about being strangely disconnected from the other worlds, or her fellow Paragons, as she knew they'd get this fixed one way or the other, but right now she needed to focus on the Kryptonian symbols.

An interesting consequence of these symbols appearing, not just throughout Central-National City, but across the United States now – with them appearing, seemingly out of nowhere on the Hollywood Hills, Mount Rushmore and even by Niagara Falls – was a lack of bad guys in the street. Obviously, there were still the petty crimes, like bank robberies, car theft and all that, but ever since the symbols had started appearing, the Justice League didn't seem to be needed for… anything.

That meant though, to Kara and Barry on their discussions, that a bigger threat was out there, somehow stopping the villainous meta human and vigilantes from making their presence known, and with something possibly worse out there – and Kryptonian – she needed to get to the bottom of it.

She had wondered if there was a link between it and the release of Astra Logue but given the magic user had spent all her adult life in Hell, and the last few months in the DEO prison before her jailbreak, this was a minimal theory with no connections.

Which was why she was now in the prison area of Fort Rozz.

Kara had just spent time with Mila, on the girl's request and hated to admit she was starting to warm to her. A trip to Fort Rozz immediately after was a warm welcome for Supergirl, though. The former prisoner ship-turned-League-headquarters had some interesting records, but it also had some interesting Kryptonian prisoners, some who could have knowledge of the symbols and their meaning. She had tried her late Uncle Non's records, the only true digitalized knowledge stored in the ship, when Non had taken it over, but these records had proved useless on the symbols, although did give her some more idea on what her former uncle and aunt originally wanted to do with the Myriad project. But that was for another day.

Now she made her way down one of the many cell corridors of the place, heading to the one Kryptonian she had hope on having knowledge of these strange symbols and who might be willing to talk: Jax-Ur. The former Champion of Galactic Conquest, older than her own grandfather but kept alive through her Kryptonian powers, and likely technology from the former gameshow, too.

"Hello again," Kara stated, at the cell window, the woman having not looked up until she spoke. Lara, her dog, was by Kara's side, too, and gave a low growl to the prisoner.

"Oh… I didn't expect you," Jax-Ur blinked putting down her book to take Kara in. "It's true what they say, you are a true emblem of Krypton."

"Thank you?" Kara wasn't sure if this was a compliment or not as Lara continued to growl.

"Is that… a Kryptonian dog?" Jax-Ur asked about Lara, her eyes were glowing slightly.

"She is. Her name is Lara but she goes by Super Dog in public," Kara stated, putting a hand on Lara to calm her. Lara stopped growling and sat down but still looked at Jax-Ur with glowing eyes, like she was ready to attack at a moment's notice.

"Lara? Lara Jor-El, your aunt," Jax-Ur nodded at this, a small smile on her face now. "I remember your grandfather wearing that symbol you both wear," both Kara and Lara were wearing the House of El symbol, known publicly as the Super symbol. "The House of El…. Rumor spread in my last days in Galactic Conquest that the House of El had endured beyond Krypton's destruction…" Jax-Ur mused. "I am more than pleased it did. The House of El was always among the greatest of our Houses. The heroes of the people. If any should survive, it's fitting the Els did."

"I'm sure my Aunt Astra has filled you in on Clark and myself," Kara stated, simply, not sure how to react to the woman.

"Clark… Kal-El, grandson of Seg-El," Jax-Ur mused at this. "His grandfather would be proud. Of both of you. I knew Seg-El before I was taken by Galactic Conquest, he was–"

"I didn't come for small talk," Kara interrupted the other woman, Lara yapping at this. While she found stories about her grandfather interesting and wondered what this woman could possibly know of him, she had more important things to ask about.

"Of course. My apologies," Jax-Ur nodded, surprising Kara at her politeness.

"I wonder if you know anything about a strange Kryptonian symbol?" Kara asked now.

"There are many Kryptonian symbols, many strange ones, and rumors of survivors beyond our world's destruction, you will have to be more specific," Jax-Ur pointed out.

"Then this," Kara had her phone on her, with the symbol of the side-on skull inside the diamond pattern, this one from social media, on the side of Mount Rushmore.

"Oh Rao…" Jax-Ur's eyes went wide at this. "She did it. She really did it…"

"Who did what?" Kara asked, pocketing her phone once more.

Barry had to go into the office today – and by that, he had to go into STAR Labs to work with Ray Palmer, to fine-tune their latest project. While WestAllen Tech had its own small offices and a lab to work in, it was nothing compared to what STAR Labs had. It was why, for this joint project, Barry was taking up space in one of the labs here working with Ray Palmer.

At the back of his mind though, almost constantly, Barry wondered if, when Ray was eventually let into the Justice League and Barry and Kara revealed the identities of the Flash and Supergirl, if Ray would feel betrayed by his friend, but that was a concern for another day. At the moment the group wasn't ready to let Ray in. As Mari would say, he's a little too green, still.

He didn't have much time to think on it though as a familiar red-headed young woman turned from speaking to Ray as Barry walked into the scientist's office.

"Hey Barry!" She moved over to hug him.

"Amber Jade Palmer," Barry smirked into the hug, looking at the smiling Raymond Palmer beyond.

"Oh please, I've told you it's AJ," the girl stated, pulling out of the hug.

"What are you doing here?" Barry asked the alternative sister to Ray – she was from a world called Legacy Earth, had her own brothers and mother there, was a magic user and had only recently discovered she was the first-born child of the Sphere of the Gods, one of the Seven Forces of the Universes, making her and Barry – who was a child of the Speed Force, the Sphere's sister – cousins in a way. It made him feel closer to Ray Palmer, too.

"Honestly, I was just exploring the multiverse with my new puppy, now that I have a better understanding of my power, and something sort of… called me here," AJ frowned. "I have a feeling I won't be leaving until whatever I'm needed for is finished," Ray knew his sister was from the multiverse, and this was shared with Barry, so it wasn't unusual for her to be so open in front of them both.

"That does sound… ominous," Barry frowned. "But hey, you can travel the multiverse, perhaps you can help… wait, did you say new puppy?"

"Oh damn. Where did that dog go to?" AJ looked around "Houdini!" She called for the dog. "I'll be right back," with that, she moved out of the office, her new puppy having had escaped from her.

"A puppy named Houdini disappearing. Appropriate," Barry said, chuckling to himself and wondering if this new dog was related to Lara. He knew Prime and Karry had a tendency of spreading puppies of Krypto and Powie into the multiverse so it would not surprise him if Houdini was Lara's little brother.

"Hey Barr," Ray spoke, drawing Barry attention, finally and using the rarely-used nickname of 'Barr'.

"Oh hey. Sorry. It's just AJ and I… never mind," as he hadn't told Ray he was the Flash, Ray didn't know the connection he and AJ kind of had – AJ had even promised not to tell Ray about Barry's secret identity until ready.

"It's fine," Ray waved it off. "She's very much a people person anyway. Could make a friend out of Enchantress if she wanted."

"Yes, well…" Barry decided not to react to this one – Ray not knowing the personal connection Barry also had to Enchantress, she having had taken over his former finance, to begin with.

"What's in the rucksack? I thought we had everything we needed here?" Ray asked, nodding to the backpack Barry had on his person, containing the last Totem to choose a Bearer he had intended to put into Alex's office later.

"Oh, just an old thing I thought I'd bring in for Kara's sister," Barry dismissed, taking the backpack off and putting it on the desk in front of Ray. "Now, we were going to talk a marketing ploy, right?" He took the seat opposite Ray's desk.

"Yes… we urm… we were," Ray began, but his eyes were on the backpack on the desk now. "Sorry, I… do you think you could put that away?" He asked, causing Barry to pause at this.

"Urm, okay," Barry frowned, taking the backpack off the desk to put on the floor, wondering why it was annoying Ray so much. It was just a bag. "Anyway, I was thinking we could start with internet advertisement, subtle references, letting the public know about the project, get the public wanting to know more before we look into TV advertisement. We're still in agreement with a launch next year?"

He and Ray were so close to launching their Programmable Matter project – a substance, sort of like nano technology one could form into a shape needed, say a chair, a bed, or even instruments or equipment; it had already been a gamechanger for the Palmer Tech division of STAR Labs, and Barry and Jesse Wells-West's own company.

"We're on the same page there," Ray smiled, "because I was thinking about using the–"

He stopped as the door opened, and AJ came in holding a white puppy with a black marking over one of its eyes, instantly reminding himself of the dog, El, from Mutant Earth when he was a puppy – this alone was confirmation to himself thinking this had to be a Krypto/Powie pup.

"Found him, he was in the superhero training area that Ba– the Flash and Supergirl work in. I think he may have destroyed one of Supergirl's training dummies though…" AJ stated, closing the door behind her and putting the dog on the floor. "You're a naughty boy, Houdini," she told the dog, who just wagged its tail and instantly began to run around the room.

"Urm, we were just starting a meeting, AJ," Ray pointed out. "Sorry, I wonder if you can… if you…" but he didn't get to say more as Houdini had grabbed hold of Barry backpack and was thrashing it about, the box containing the Totem flying out and hitting the wall, breaking open.

"Houdini!" AJ called, moving forward as Barry went to collect his backpack and went to reach for the Totem, but Ray had already grabbed it.

"What is this…?" Ray asked, looking at the droplet-shaped blue gem surrounded in little diamonds. It had fallen out of the box, thanks to Houdini's antics.

"It's a family heirloom of Kara's," Barry stated quickly as AJ scalded her dog – who now whined in his mistress's arms – as Barry went to take the Totem from Ray.

"It's… lovely," Ray remarked, moving back from Barry so he couldn't take the Totem; he seemed transfixed by it and Barry, who had just collected his thoughts after collecting the items Houdini had scattered, realized what had happened.

"Oh no…" he muttered, glancing at AJ now, who also realized what was going on.

"That's a Totem of Zambezi, right?" She asked Barry, quietly.

"Yep. And I think your brother maybe it's bearer," Barry sighed at this, but Ray did fit the clue they had been given for the Water Totem Bearer. Now, how to tell him what was going on?

Kara leaned into the cell window at Fort Rozz, where Jax-Ur sat, curious as to her wording.

"Who did what?" Kara asked the old Kryptonian soldier. Lara, by her side, gave another yap, as if telling the woman to explain more. "Who's this 'she'?"

"I'm surprised you haven't met her yet. She called herself Nyxlygsptlnz, a Fifth Dimensional Imp," Jax-Ur began.

"A Fifth Dimensional Imp? Like Mxyzptlk?" Kara asked at this.

"Of the same race. How do you know Mxyzptlk?" Jax-Ur asked.

"How do you?" Kara countered.

"Rox, the alien who ran Galactic Conquest, once encountered him. He was curious of the game and wanted to play. I was the only survivor of those challenges," Jax-Ur pointed out, causing Kara to frown. "Now, your turn."

"He was searching the multiverse for a mate," Kara pointed out, biting her lip, Lara whining now. "He'd focused on me, but I rejected him. I think he finally got with one of my multiverse alternatives," she mused at this.

"An Imp of many colors," Jax-Ur smirked at this, and Kara thought the woman must have found it funny Mxyzptlk had wanted to mate with her.

"But not the Imp we're on about. This Nix…?" Kara began but couldn't remember how to pronounce the name.

"Nyxlygsptlnz," Jax-Ur supplied, "she came to me a few weeks ago – at least, I think it was a few weeks ago, time really blurs when there's no indication of night or day – offering to free me in exchange of breaking her power-dampening cuff."

"Okay, a lot to unpack from that sentence," Kara bemused, "let's start with the most important – this power-dampening cuff?"

"She was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone on another world, I think, and then sent here, but with a prison of her own making – a cuff her people had put on her to stop her using her Imp magic," Jax-Ur explained. "The only power on any Earth to break it is Kryptonian heat vision, which is why she was offering my freedom to break it off. I refused."

"You refused the chance to escape?" Kara was impressed by this. Many would have taken the opportunity to break out of this place.

"I want to earn my freedom, not live my life on the run," Jax-Ur stated. "It's not Rao's will that those imprisoned be free before he grants it. In my case, he grants it through you."

"Indeed," Kara mused on this Kryptonian vision. Lara wagged her tail momentarily now aqs it seemed the dog had gotten over her dislike of this prisoner. "But what did you tell this Nyxlygsptlnz Imp?"

"I told her of the old Kryptonian witches and the Worldkiller project," Jax-Ur stated.

"The what project?" Kara paused at this. She knew of the Sisters of Juru, a Kryptonian cult, but only by childhood stories.

"I don't know much, just rumors that reached us in Galactic Conquest, but there was a project on Krypton, a means to grow the perfect warrior, to harness our abilities under different suns not our own. Why it was called Worldkiller, I do not know, but I learned that the project was hijacked, or something, by the Sisters of Juru in their hour of need and the surviving child of the project was sent to Earth," Jax-Ur explained. "That symbol, the diamond and side facing skull is their symbol, the Children of Juru."

"Oh, of course…" Kara groaned at this, now remembering where she'd seen the symbols before. "More magic," she now sighed, but should have expected it – her world was the most magical world in the multiverse, followed by New Justice, oddly enough. "But you told Nyxlygsptlnz that there was another, hidden, Kryptonian here?" Kara asked, folding her arm at this. Lara gave a bark as if sensing her mistress's displeasure with it.

"I… well… I didn't think it was true and that the Imp would actually find the child and unlock its powers. I thought I was sending her on a pointless chase," Jax-Ur protested. "But given the child of Juru is awake, it's more than likely that the Imp is free and that's more dangerous than a Kryptonian witch supervillain."

"Indeed," Kara sighed, stepping back, Lara moving with her. "Well, thank you, Jax-Ur, for giving me this information. It has been helpful – I think."

"Before you go," Jax-Ur spoke up. "I wonder… my release…?"

"You have been helpful and a model prisoner here," Kara mused. "And you've taken well to the psychological evaluations we've provided you," as a soldier of the Galactic Conquest, Jax-Ur had been a little messed up when freed from the game, but some very trained psychologists had seen to her since, and helped her process her trauma, all to allow her to be released to the public when the time came.

They had known they weren't going to keep her locked up forever, too, as her crime had been being a prisoner of a sadistic game show, after all, and nothing more. "I'll have a word with those that maintain Fort Rozz here on Earth, see if we can… speed up your release."

"Thank you," Jax-Ur smiled at this as Kara and Lara turned to leave.

-SuperEarth-

Ray Palmer was still holding the Water Totem as Barry and AJ looked to one another, the latter with a yapping puppy in her arms that seemed confused by the turn of events.

"Ray…" Barry began, forcing the man's attention to them. "That's… a special artefact."

"Do you know Vixen?" AJ changed tact for her brother, causing Ray to sigh at this.

"Yes, I know Vixen well," she'd been training him as a hero more than the other members of the Justice League – her nickname for him, Kermit, hadn't been dropped given he was still relatively green in the hero work. He frowned at the fact other members of the League had also taken up the nickname when they trained him.

"Well, her power is derived from the necklace she wears, one of the Totems of Zambezi, it allows her to call upon the spirits of animals to use their abilities," AJ informed her brother, Houdini now yawning in her arms; Barry deciding to let the girl explain, instead of him, for now – with Ray seemingly now a Totem Bearer as well the ATOM, maybe he would soon have to reveal he was the Flash to his friend?

"So, what does that have to do with this?" Ray asked, still holding the Water Totem.

"There were six Totems made," AJ continued to explain; being the daughter to the Sphere of the Gods, the Force that made the gems for all six Totems, AJ had an idea what to say to her brother, "Spirit, Death, Air, Earth, Fire and Water. That Totem is the Water Totem, one of the six and judging by your reaction, it chose you."

"Yes," Ray nodded at that. "I feel it's connected to me. I don't know why. Barry, why did you have it on you?"

"Well… I…" Barry didn't know what to say; he'd told Ray it was a family heirloom of Kara's before the Totem had chosen the man, but now that it had chosen him, Barry didn't have an excuse.

"I assume it's because you know Mari McCabe, right Barry?" AJ drew his attention to her. "And she entrusted you and Kara with the Totems?"

"Well… yeah, that's true," Barry frowned at AJ for this one. Houdini was falling asleep in her arms now and was a cute little distraction.

"Did you know she's Vixen?" Ray asked Barry.

"Urm… yeah," Barry admitted for this one.

"Then I suppose she's told you about the ATOM?" Ray now asked, actually putting the Totem down at this and looking a little hesitant.

"Yeah, she's been training him," Barry stated, a little puzzled by where this conversation was now going.

"Well… I'm him," Ray stated. "I'm ATOM."

"Okay," Barry wasn't sure how to react to this, so instead went with no reaction at all.

"And… well, if this Water Totem gives me control of water… imagine the possibilities – I could make a fog to shroud myself from enemies, I could make jets of water to knock enemies back, or put out fires, hell I could use the Totem to help those in need and integrate it into my ATOM suit… or, maybe I could… wait, you weren't too surprised to find I was ATOM?" Ray paused as he frowned to Barry.

"Oh. I… I already knew," Barry admitted.

"Mari told you," Ray groaned.

"I didn't want to spoil your surprise," Barry stated, not countering this response. At least Ray had come up with an excuse on his own instead of Barry having to lie. Barry was kind of shocked but pleased Ray hadn't jumped to the idea of him being the Flash yet. "But wow Ray, you seem to know what to do with the Totem more than most."

"Most? There are others?" Ray asked. "Aside from Vixen?"

"All Six Totems now have Bearers," Barry stated. "In fact, maybe we should get all six together at some point – the Totems are needed against some oncoming darkness, after all."

"Darkness?" Ray paused at this.

"Yeah, that's a whole other story," Barry shared a look with AJ, who was cradling her sleeping puppy now. He had to ask her what she knew about this darkness, given her connection to the Sphere of the Gods. Plus, given her ability to travel the multiverse, he had to see if she could connect to other worlds while they currently couldn't.

-SuperEarth-

Kara and Lara were now flying back from Fort Rozz, heading to Central-National City; Kara had informed Alex about what Jax-Ur had told her and done, and it seemed serious consideration was made in the old soldier's freedom moving forward.

The two Kryptonian were flying over the edge of the cities, Kara having decided to head home to her townhouse, when she was hit by a jet of heat, and sent flying sideways.

Lara instantly went to attack their attacker but was met with a jet of cold air as Kara recovered, quickly re-joining her dog to see who had attacked them.

It was a tall, thin, woman with black hair in a ponytail, wearing an all-black outfit and mask covering most of her face – made of a material that Kara couldn't see through – but it was the symbol on her chest that stood out to Kara: the now-familiar diamond patten with sideways skull in it.

"You!" Kara called, letting out her own heat vision on the woman, which she flew to dodge. Lara shot forward to attack the woman, but was knocked backward, Kara catching the dog. Kara looked at the woman for a moment. She seemed familiar for some reason, but Kara couldn't put her finger on from where or why.

"You are an abomination to all of Krypton," the evil Kryptonian called to Kara as she held on to her dog – Lara was winded, but seemingly okay.

"I'm the abomination? You're the experiment," Kara pointed out sending another heat vision at the woman which was counter with a freeze breath. The two meeting and exploding into a fog that made it even hard for Kara to see through,

"Life begins everywhere. Soon this world will burn, and you will be given a choice," the voice said through the fog and Kara knew she had moved right next to her on the right. Kara turned quickly to face the woman as the fog cleared. They were incredibly close to each other. If Kara wasn't holding onto her dog she could touch her.

"A choice?" Kara asked, her eyes still glowing red, ready to strike the woman again.

"Join me and my cause, or die with this world," the evil Kryptonian stated.

"I chose this world long ago," Kara stated, blasting the heat vision from her eyes again, taking the woman by surprise as she was shot backwards, but she quickly gained her balance again and flew back to Kara.

"Then you have chosen death!" The woman stated, flying right at Kara but she was able to dodge the woman easily enough. She was also taking the opportunity to learn her opponent's fighting style, and it was very… rough. She hadn't been training in any fighting style Kara was aware of and while her powers were strong, she wasn't used to using them.

At that, Lara jumped back in to fight, as well, but was almost instantly knocked back as Kara grabbed her dog.

"I always chose to live," Kara stated, Lara was running on adrenaline, instantly leaving her mistress's arms now; they were going to do a two-Kryptonian attack as Lara now flew away from Kara so the woman could distract the evil Kryptonian. "What do they call you?" Kara now called to the woman.

"I am the bringer of death," the woman called back, "the killer of worlds. And the resurrection. But you can call me, Reign!" She let out another blast from her eyes which Kara countered with her own laser vision, but at that moment, Lara struck the woman from the side, sending her flying as she had sent Lara.

Kara didn't wait to fly after the woman, ready to continue the fight, but just as suddenly as this Reign had appeared, she was gone – and not even Kara's enhanced Kryptonian vision could detect where she'd gone, like she disappeared into the air and Kara had to remember she had a connection to witches. It was very possible she could just disappear.

"Kara? Are you okay?" This was Alex on coms.

"I'm good. Lara's a little hurt but we're okay," Kara stated, Lara having flown back to Kara now, a little forlorn.

"I heard that… this new one's called Reign?" Alex asked.

"She is," Kara was hanging in the sky above the cities now, still scanning the environment just in case.

"I think you guys needs to head back here, we need to know more," Alex stated.

"On it," Kara stated. "Plus, you guys can have a look at Lara… I think Reign really hurt her," Kara was concerned for her dog as she now held on to Lara as she flew to STAR Labs.

-SuperEarth-

That evening, Kara and Lara had returned to their townhouse. Reign had proved a strong opponent as she had broken one of Lara's front legs and fractured the dog's ribs, but luckily a few minutes under yellow sun lamps had fixed the dog and she was back to normal.

Kara had also met up with AJ and met her hyperactive dog, but it had been brief, as Barry had been on the downlow, not wanting Ray to know that he was the Flash yet – as it seemed the last Totem had chosen its bearer in Ray, and now they were facing a tricker situation than before with the hero known as ATOM.

Right now, though, the family had had their dinners with the twins put to bed – Lara now protectively next to the crib, reminding Kara of the dog's own father in Krypto, who did the same with his 'human puppies' back in the day on Karry Universe – while the girls were watching TV in the living room. Kara and Barry were just relaxing on the couch.

She called herself Reign then, Barry asked Kara through the bond – not wanting to speak out loud with the girls present.

She did. She really hurt Lara, Kara pouted at this. But she's this thing called a Worldkiller…? I need to know more though. I think there's more to her, as well. She mentioned something about being 'the resurrection', too.

We need to know why she's been burning that symbol across the country but not starting a fight until now, Barry reasoned back.

Her fighting style was very… rough-and-ready. I wonder if she's not been ready to fight until now, Kara mused. Did AJ say anything about the multiverse? She was able to come here but we can't leave, and I can't talk to my fellow Paragons. If I could talk to them, they may know more.

AJ tried to head home earlier, but didn't get much luck. I don't know what's happening there, Barry sighed at this. It's almost like we've suddenly been locked out of the multiverse…

Or isolated from it, Kara mused, thoughtfully. It could be due to this Nixy Imp person, or Reign, or something else. I am sure we will get them back eventually, but I don't know when.

Whatever it is, we'll find out, stop it, and get the multiverse – and your fellow Paragons – back in our lives, Barry comforted Kara at this, knowing that she had a special bond with the other Paragons of the Multiverse. He could feel her sadness of being separated from them. She had also received no new messages in a few days on her Paragon group chat, which was odd for the seven of them. A clear sign they were cut off.

Anyway, what about Ray? Kara tried to stay positive now. He's the bearer of the Water Totem?

Urgh, I know right, Barry chuckled at this.

The Water Totem belongs to a scientist we're close to… Kara quoted the hint that Amaya Tyler had given them a few weeks back.

Yeah, and of all the scientists, it had to be Ray, Barry pointed out. It adds a complication, though, as I've agreed to hold the Air Totem when needed, until Zari comes of age and for this oncoming darkness, meaning I'm a fellow Totem Bearer with the others.

I've been thinking about that, Kara stated now, Barry momentarily turning to look to her. We need unity between the Totem Bearers. You six need to get together – like they did on Karry Universe. A proper bonding session.

With the Flash hiding his face the entire time… Barry pointed out – with his new best friend as a Totem Bearer, someone he wasn't ready to reveal he was the Flash to, he needed his identity to be secret.

You can do that easily, the cowl, a vibration of the face and vocal chords. You may need to explain to the others why you're doing it for now, but we might need to speed up telling Ray who we are. From what Karry has said, the Totems Bearers need to be in harmony with each other to work together, I'm not sure if you can be with keeping this secret, Kara pointed out and Barry had to agree. Sooner rather than later Ray would need to be brought into everything. And then there's Nora Ford, the Fire Totem Bearer.

It's all a little complicated, Barry sighed at that. I don't even know if the Air Totem will actually work with me though – especially after Rae tried to use the Death Totem on New Justice and it didn't work for her.

It didn't work for her because she's connected to the Speed Force, not the Dimensional Superstructure, Kara reasoned back; with the Death Totem being from the Dimensional Superstructure, one of the Forces of the Universes, it naturally wouldn't work for someone tied to another Force. The Air Totem is from the Speed Force. In theory it should work for you.

In theory, yes, but in practice… Barry bit his own lip at this.

We will work it out. Maybe you should try it out on your own before meeting with the other Bearers. Maybe Zari has some idea on how to help you from what her father said, Kara leaned in to kiss Barry on the cheek now.

"Mamma Kara!" This was Adri now; she was pointing at the TV, and it was showing a commercial for a doll. "That's the toy I mentioned!"

"Oh," Kara said aloud, Adri having mentioned earlier about wanting a toy but unable to articulate her words to explain what it was. "Sure thing, sweetie. Let's get you it," she looked to Barry who was smiling at this, glad of the distraction as he was already on his cell, looking it up to buy it for their girl.

Post-chapter Note: Well then, things are getting complicated, aren't they? The Totems all have Bearers, but most of them need training/bonding, while Reign has finally made herself known. And what's going on with the world being cut off from the multiverse? Hmm. More to be revealed in time…
