Epilogue
It would be almost comical, Jake Wheeler-Byers, Spider-Boy, leader of the Avengers, one of the heroes who defeated Venom and ended the Symbiote invasion, was nervous about the upcoming school event.
"I don't know, I don't think this looks-" He began.
Will shook his head, trying not to laugh. "Jake, you need to relax son, you look great, Jess is going to love it."
Jake bit his lip, but nodded, taking a deep breath.
Finally he sighed. "Unreal, look at me, big superhero...scared of a school dance."
"Hey, it's natural to be nervous, you're a superhero yeah, but you're still a teenager." Will reassured him.
That was when Mike entered from outside. "Okay, we're all ready, got the car started...are you ready, Jake?"
Jake smiled and nodded. "Yeah, yeah, sorry for the wait. Was a little nervous, I'll be fine. I'm ready."
His dads smiled warmly, reassuringly, before they hugged their son.
"We're proud of you, for everything you've done, never forget that." Mike said warmly.
Will then added. "Don't worry, everything is going to be fine. We'll be there but don't worry, we won't embarrass you. None of the others will too."
Jake just laughed but was grateful upon hearing that. Taking a deep breath, fixing his suit, Jake followed his dads outside to their car to head to the school for the school dance.
Arriving with his parents, Jake smiled as, after some more reassurances to ease his nervousness, his dads stepped off to join the other parents who were chaperoning the event, while doing things like running the snack tables and such. Jake paused for a moment and then laughed seeing some more familiar faces. Thomas, Barbara, Jeff, Olivia, Stephanie and Matthew were all present too, doing the exact same things as their parents and the other parents. He knew why they were there however and smiled in gratitude when he caught their eyes. They all nodded and began subtly directing him. He made his way through the crowd of students, all of them chatting and laughing, the music hadn't started yet but it was clear it would be soon and they were all eagerly waiting in anticipation.
"Hey, glad you made it."
He turned to see Eddie there, grinning, an arm around Tanya, even her dress held to her punk aesthetic with a few stylish rips here and there, along with her dark makeup.
"Hi Eddie, Tanya, yeah...I admit I was a little nervous getting ready but, I'm good now." He explained.
Tanya grinned. "That's great, well, you should see the others as you go but, best hurry...Jess is waiting."
She winked at that and Jake blushed, smiling but did so and soon made his way onwards.
After waving to Kelsey who was manning one of the tables along with her mother, Kelsey waving back with a grin, Jake made his way over to where the agreement had been made earlier.
"Go for it Jake." Terry encouraged him.
Michelle was with her and winked. "You're gonna love her dress."
Jake nodded in anticipation and quickened his pace slightly, also passing Amanda and Nathan who both were also looking forwards to the dance beginning. Then he saw her and his eyes widened.
"Jess."
"Hey Jake." She greeted him with a delighted smile.
They were right, she was stunning, her hair had been neatly styled into a wavy style, her makeup was light, barely noticeable and her dress, it was a light blue colour, with very thin straps and the long skirt was sheer from the middle of her thighs down, and patterned with blue ribbon shapes, a pair of simple heels finished the outfit and the effect was stunning.
"Jess...wow…" He finally managed to articulate.
She giggled and gently reached out, taking his hands in hers. "I knew you'd like it."
She moved closer and Jake didn't even hesitate and they kissed, all under the delighted gaze of the other Avengers, their loved ones and their families, as well as a number of other students who couldn't help but grin themselves, which was the cue it seemed for the music to finally start, much to the great delight of everyone present.
It was roughly midway through the night of the dance and a beautiful slow dance played, all the Middle-School Avengers were slow dancing with their respective loves while their parents and Kelsey watched with happy smiles. Without any protests from the teachers or other students, the high school Avengers had even joined the dance. In the midst of all of this, Jake and Jessica still slow danced, their eyes not leaving each other as they swayed gently to the music.
"I'm just sorry you had to go through such a hard and dangerous time for us to come together." Jake said. "But I'm glad we are."
"As am I." Jess agreed. "I wouldn't change it for the world, I'd gladly endure anything for us to be together."
They both smiled and once more kissed, getting lost as the music swept over them and they knew, all was well.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
