Chapter 21 Confessions
Edelgard had to approach this situation carefully. Monica was back in the monastery, and they wanted to question her. Where was she who kidnapped her? There was a huge risk that she was considering. Would it be worth it? She had no idea that stakes were high if she cut her alliance with Those Who Slither in the Dark it could be a recipe for disaster, but she saved Monica.
The girl was asleep in her arms. She had been through so much Edelgard knew tactically it would have been better to let her die. She had lost so much of her sisters and brothers, her father barely able to hang on; she did not want to lose another person if she could help it.
What would be the correct decision to make? How could she have plausible deniability? She could not think of a way that did not end in disaster she could convince Monica not to reveal who kidnap her by lying that she doesn't know in order to delay the inevitable. Though that wasn't without its risk her dual identity that she is expected to embrace was the flame emperor was something she had to consider as well.
There were multiple choices, and none of them were right. Which choice was the right one? She hated the fact that destiny was even a concept; was her destiny really already decided, even though she had altered the destiny of Monica by saving her life?
In frustration, she wanted to slam her fist against the wall, but she couldn't do that. Not only would it wake Monica, but everyone in the monastery who was near her. There had to be a way; she remembered a lesson that Hinata had once told her about when it came to Shinobi: one of their greatest weapons and their arsenal in deception.
Flashback 15 days after the shy girl squad victory
Hinata and Edelgard were alone; they weren't doing anything in particular. They were just enjoying the weather, and she had wanted to talk to him. However, the opportunity never presented itself, and it happened very rarely. There was something about the Bell Test that she heard from a Jonin about one of the methods on how to test their students and see if they were capable of being ninja at all.
"I was wondering if you don't mind me asking Hina-chan, what is the point of the Bell Test?" she asked in Hinata's language.
"Oh, you mean where there's two bells, but there's three people; what is the point of the test? The answer is simple: if you know how to spot deception." Edelgard was curious.
"The test exists to see if we are capable of working together and see through traps sent by the enemy. If we're willing to put our differences aside and sacrifice ourselves for our village and for each other, teamwork is obvious, but a lot of people fail the test because they cannot see through such deception. The two bills exist to see if the students will see past it. Most of them fight amongst themselves because they believe in 'survivor of the fittest', that only they and they alone should be allowed to be Shinobi."
Hinata answered. Edelgard thought it was a really good idea to weed out those who would be troublemakers, though not in her homeland, it wouldn't work because the culture is different. But if you're doing a three-man cell, it's a good idea to test if the team can see past such deceptions and work together.
"There are multiple kinds of deception to be a proper Shinobi. We must be able to see through it and have the ability to use deception to our advantage. One effective way to weaken an enemy is to put them against each other, whatever it takes to make them fight among themselves. If the enemy is stronger than you, and there's another enemy who works with one of your enemies, it's best to set them against each other while they're too busy fighting each other to notice you coming. You could strike where they're both at their weakest; they won't see you coming until it's too late."
Hinata finished her explanation, which could be useful in the future; she thought.
"You have given me something to think about there's so much I don't know about Konoha despite us spending time together there, I don't feel like know anything"Edelgard admitted.
"Deception can be a powerful tool, but you have to be careful; it can also be turned against you." Hinata warned.
Edelgard understands too well from her experiences in the cutthroat court politics that manipulation and deception are necessary, whether you're in the war-torn political arena or on the battlefield. It's an essential weapon in both places.
"You know people don't give you enough credit, you are far wiser than you appear." She blushed at the compliment.
"I'm sorry, but I don't want to keep Naruto-kun waiting. I'll see you tomorrow in class."
Hinata left and went straight to her boyfriend, who was laughing with her at a prank that he pulled for what Edelgard was able to gather when she observed them..
This conversation was something she would come back to someday, if she ever had any doubts about what to do.
Edelgard knew what the right choice was: deception. That's what she would use against her enemies.
Monica would tell them as little as possible. She would lie and say she doesn't remember anything now. She is not strong enough to do anything; she has to bind her time to see them play a dumb act of ignorance.
When the time is right, she will strike, and when she does, she will take control of her own destiny; nothing will get in her way.
They were back on shore. Naruto was glad he hated being on that boat, holding Dorothea's hand much to the confusion of everyone in their class.
" Well, we're back finally I was getting sick of being on that damn boat."Naruto said, glad to finally be back on land and at the monastery. He wondered if Hinata was back from her mission.
"Wow, so this is the monastery I've heard so much about." remarked Gaara, his brother and sister being alongside him.
"Interesting; so we're going to go there, brother?" asked Kankuro, who looked extremely interested.
"I must say it will be interesting to see the kind of people we will interact with here, if the Golden Deer class is anything to go by." remarked Temari.
"Well, I'm looking forward to it, especially to having a one-on-one talk with Gaara at some point." Claude said happily that they're finally back after being gone for almost a month.
"I'm looking forward to seeing Hinata Chan and Ingrid Chan." Naruto said happily that he was finally home.
The monastery wants to kill you. I mean, three girlfriends; are you suicidal? What a drag! One is enough as far as I'm concerned." remarked Shikamaru who just wanted to relax.
"I won't join a house until I speak to the other leaders."
Gaara said, looking at Naruto and Claude.
Claude remarked, "You know whoever has you will be the most powerful house in the monastery if they have all of you."
The sand siblings, who are often collectively referred to as the Three Gods, are an unstoppable force, and it is rare to see one lose.
"Well, I'm joining the house that I feel the most comfortable in; I think I like the Golden Deer a lot.
Kankuro enjoys his interactions with most members, but he dislikes Lorenz because he always says foolish things.
"A puppet master in our class now - that's something interesting!" Claude remarked.
"It doesn't matter as long as I can spread the power of youth, I don't care who joins our class," said Lee.
Naruto wondered what Dorothea was thinking. They had spent a lot of time together since their first meeting, so he didn't need to read her mind to know what she was thinking.
"Kakashi-sensei, I've been thinking about what you told me. I've made my decision."
Naruto wondered what she was talking about.
"That would be?" he asked her as they were walking, they were close to the entrance.
"I wish to transfer to the Golden Deer." This shocked everyone, especially Naruto. Out of everybody, she was the last person They expected. He knew why, though: because of her powers that had awakened and wanted it to keep it a secret so she could train and use it.
He couldn't tell his girlfriend Hinata why she was transferring, or Ingrid either. It would have to be Dorothea who tells them he can't do that.
"Are you sure, Dorothea?" Kakashi asked her wanting her to consider what she was saying.
"I'm positive I like the people here and it's not like I can't still be friends with my classmates from the Black Eagles. Naruto dates Hinata despite not being in the same class; it will work itself out." Dorothea said with a smile.
"Wow Dimitri is certainly going to have a field day with this."said Claude who had his hands behind his back.
The gatekeeper did a salute.
"We've been worried about your mission taking longer than expected, Kakashi Hatake. Your presence is being requested by the Archbishop, along with the brown-haired boy who is with you."
Naruto looked at his sensei, who only nodded. Haku didn't say much since the battle on the bridge.
He left with Kakashi to meet up with Rhea.
"Well consider this your day off for today."he left everyone there.
"I don't know about you but I'm hungry,"said Naruto.
"I can certainly use some food after that adventure."said Raphael.
"I could certainly use a bath though it wouldn't hurt to go to the cafeteria,"said Hilda.
"I'm looking forward to meeting my peers from the Black Eagles and the Blue Lions so I can show the power of youth to them."Rock Lee said enthusiastic about meeting new people.
"Well this gives you three a chance to meet with the house leaders."Naruto along with everyone in the group headed to the cafeteria.
Naruto and Dorothea walked side by side today. They would talk to Hinata and Ingrid. Today he would know the truth about his parents about what happened with the village. Part of him was terrified of what he would learn.
Hinata was eating lunch with her friends, but Marianne was silent. Bernadetta was looking at her with worry. Petra, along with Edelgard and her girlfriend Monica, had no idea what to say because of her newly awakened powers that no one knew she had. Marianne had barely spoken to anyone.
She wish she could say anything to make her feel better but she just doesn't know what to say she doesn't want to overstep.
"you know Hinata it's a shame we haven't had a chance to spar one-on-one yet."said Petra trying to start a conversation.
"Things have been so busy since I arrived here Petra San it's a shame that we couldn't talk more I would like to be your friend."
The girl smiled warmly at Lysithea, who was eating the sweet treat given to her byHinata, who had baked a chocolate cupcake.
"Did I mention you're a good cook, Hinata?" said Lysithea.
"It's not encouraged by my clan for someone of my station to cook like I do."The girls at the table were curious, even though Marianne, who hadn't spoken, wanted to know why she didn't have to listen to her speak well. This would distract her from what had happened.
"It's because they believe it should be a servant that does the cooking not the heir to a clan they think it's beneath them."She resisted ranting at how much she hated the arrogant and stuck up nobles that she had to deal with but she held her tongue otherwise she would go on for hours.
"Sounds like they're a bunch of idiots, strip those spoon-fed nobles of your lands; it applies here too of their servants, and they wouldn't know how to feed themselves. Cooking is a useful skill, only an idiot believes otherwise." said Petra in disgust.
"I can speak from personal experience about being there, and they are exactly what Hinata said they are." said Edelgard.
"Don't get me started on the arrogant, stuck-up, good-for-nothing elders who have never left the compound for an extended period of time for most of their lives, and most of them never even set foot outside of Konoha. They are worthless, useless good-for-nothings."Hinata then realized she was about to go on a rant and stopped herself.
"Hinata I can understand your anger but this isn't like you you shouldn't be holding your anger inside it is not healthy for your spirit."said Petra concerned.
"Take it from me, Hinata: vent every now and then; you're snapping more lately. You're with friends, so you don't have to suppress your feelings." said Edelgard, concerned.
"A Shinobi full of anger and rage will not be able to fully function as a warrior." said Shino.
"I agree with our classmate Hinata. I've never seen you so aggrieved." Kiba chimed in.
"your clan is awful please if you need a vent Hinata it's okay you're not going to scare me if you do so"said Benedetta.
"Keeping your anger bottled up is not healthy," Ferdinand said, "that every once in a while, we're there for you." The man that she had recently started to connect with as a friend.
"It's not good for you to hold your anger in like that, Hinata. It's not healthy." Monica said, concerned about the anger she has been holding inside for years.
"Especially what happened yesterday you are not the kind of person that loses your cool that easily not that I blame You I mean Sakura is a bitch after all."Lysithea added.
"You don't have to talk about your clan Hinata if you don't want to."Petra as if knowing she would go on another rant.
"Maybe at a different time when Dorothea is around so I don't have to repeat myself."then the everything went silent.
"I think she'll be okay, the goddess will protect her."Marianne said the first thing that she had said in days.
As if Hinata's prayers were answered everyone looked and saw the Golden Deer enter the cafeteria along with some new faces.
Not caring that everyone saw when she saw Naruto and Dorothea she ran to both of them hugging them both tightly.
"I was worried about both of you," Hinata said, barely able to keep control of her emotions. She felt two arms wrap around her: Naruto and Dorothea.
"I'm sorry for worrying you Hinaa"Dorothea said to her soothingly.
"I'm sorry Hinata Chan,"Naruto added.
She looked at both of them; she noticed something changing between Naruto and Dorothea. As if she would put that thought aside for now. She was just happy to see them both. Naruto didn't care that the whole monastery saw him kiss Hinata on the lips.
Under normal circumstances, she would faint in embarrassment, but she didn't care; he was alive. He was in one piece, and he was safe in her arms once again.
"I love you, Hinata-chan," Naruto said as he pulled back.
"I love you too Naruto Kun"Hinata replied.
There was a silence.
"We need to have a talk all of us."Dorothea said ending the moment too soon for her liking but she knew she was right.
It wasn't fair to Ingrid or Dorothea; they had to talk, she has feelings for all three of them; she wasn't sure if Naruto was the same.
"Yeah, I'd rather do it sooner than later. We don't have to do it this second, but tonight, let's meet at my quarters and then we'll talk." Naruto said to Hinata and Ingrid.
This was it; she thought they were going to share each other, but then she noticed something about Dorothea: the way she looked at her was different.
"I was wrong about him, Hinaa. I'm sorry." Why was she apologizing?
As if they knew where this was going, Naruto and Ingrid decided to leave the two alone. Hinata and Dorothea headed to Dorothea's quarters.
Hinata and she had a lot to discuss; she couldn't hold back her feelings any longer. Tonight, they would all talk; she wondered what would happen; she was excited but also scared of what might happen.
She believes it will work out. She loves Ingrid and Dorothea, and Naruto, but she wonders if they feel the same way. No, she'll focus on the moment. She leaves Naruto and Ingrid alone so they can have some privacy.
"Do you think those two will be alright?" asked Naruto. It had been almost a month since he had last seen Ingrid. It was hard for him.
"I think things will work out, Naru-kun. I mean, Dorothea has loved Hinata since the beginning of our time here; it'll work out."
That's not what Naruto was concerned about; he wanted them all to be happy.
"You love them both, don't you?" This shocked Ingrid. How did he know?
"I know things have changed between you two in the past 2 months. I could feel it in your chakra energy. I'm not mad, in fact, it makes it easier." Naruto said with his trademark smile.
"What do you mean?" she wanted to know.
"Well, things happened between me and Dorothea during the trip. The short version is that I really care about her too, and I want to make her happy as well." This surprised Ingrid.
"I don't understand," Ingrid said.
"Then let me show you instead of telling you."
Naruto kissed her on the lips, not caring if everyone saw.
"Are you fucking kidding me? He has two girlfriends now!"
Said one of the disgruntled students who wasn't happy that Naruto was dating Hinata and now Ingrid was added to their harem.

Naruto looked at them with a death glare, as if they were pieces of meat. They backed down.
"That was unexpected." Ingrid couldn't help but comment.

"So you have two girlfriends now? The idiot can do it." Sasuke said with a smile that he only shows to Naruto when he's teasing him.
"Wait, is this true, Ingrid?" asked Mercedes, shocked at the recent developments.
"Well, yes, well, it just happened; she admitted."
Then she noticed the way Mercedes was wrapped her right arm around Sasuke's , and then it clicked: they were together now. She wasn't going to say anything; it was no secret that Sasuke and Mercedes spent a lot of time together outside of class. The fact that they're now official doesn't surprise her, but of course Naruto had to run his mouth.
"Well, is she your girlfriend now?" Naruto asked, which caused Sasuke to become annoyed and Mercedes to blush red.
"Damn it, can you not shout that so the whole damn monastery can hear it?" Sasuke stuttered, trying but failing to hide his embarrassment.
"It's not like I'm embarrassed, or anything; it's just that we want to keep it between ourselves for now." said Mercedes, quickly salvaging the situation.
"Fair enough, but I'm happy for you, Sasuke; she's a good woman." Ingrid said, being happy for her former classmate.
"She's too good for me, if I have to say so myself. Now I know how you felt and why you had cold feet around Hinata San Naruto."Sasuke said, reminiscing about Naruto's reluctance to tell him her feelings.
"You better treat her well, Sasuke" Ingrid warned.
Mercedes was about to say something, but thought better of it.
"When you two are comfortable we should go on a double date or should we say quadruple date."Naruto said stupidly.
"what is he talking about Sasuke Kun"Mercedes asked her boyfriend not knowing what he's talking about.
"Naruto thinks he'll have three girlfriends."Sasuke answered.
"Three? oh my"Mercedes said in disbelief.
"Well, as long as everyone is happy, that's all that matters. You have my support, Naruto. But only if you don't hurt my friends." She said in a serious tone, almost threatening. Then it passed as soon as it appeared.
"I would never do such a thing; I love Hinata Chan and Ingrid Chan with all my heart." Naruto said proudly.
He looked at her in the eye, almost ignoring Sasuke and Mercedes.
"Well, you and I certainly dodged a bullet Sasuke not dating the banshee." Naruto joked
As if the world hated them and the universe wanted to torture them, Sakura appeared. Ingrid was clenching her teeth in annoyance.
"Oh Sasuke-kun, I was wondering who you're seeing?"
Sakura asked, ignoring Mercedes' existence.
"Sasuke-kun can see whoever he wants"
Mercedes said with barely controlled anger at her presence.
Sakura looked at the older woman with jealous rage.
"who are you to Sasuke Kun?"Sakura asked her.
"It's none of your business."Mercedes responded with hostility.
"If it involves my man it is my business."said Sakura in her delusion.
Her man? Mercedes, wanted to put this bitch in her place. Sasuke was her boyfriend, not an object or trophy like this crazy delusional banshee believes.
"Sasuke Kun doesn't belong to you; he can see whoever he wants." Mercedes said, barely able to control her anger; it was difficult.
Who are you to Sasuke Kun? What did you do? Are you one of his whores?"Sakura said insultingly.

"You should worship the ground Sasuke Kun walks on, he isn't a worthless orphan he's an Uchiha he's royalty."
Mercedes had enough; she slapped Sakura hard across her face, not caring if she drew attention from everyone in the room. Everyone looked on.
"I tolerated your annoying screeching disrespectful voice for far too long, I can't stand you. I can't stand how you treat Sasuke-kun like a trophy and not a person, and your insensitive comment about orphans. There are many students here who are orphans, Sasuke-kun himself being an orphan. I'm not even from your village; I wasn't born in your village, and I know more about Sasuke-kun than you ever will. Leave my friends alone, or next time I'll do more than just slap you." She said, with an implied threat.
"Fine, but you haven't heard the last of me. I will find out the truth about Sasuke and who he's seeing."
She stormed off, leaving everyone speechless because of Mercedes, of all people, losing control. Sasuke put his hand on her shoulder.
"It's okay, my angel." Sasuke said softly to her.
Mercedes had to take a deep breath. spoke as, she could.

"Because Hinata is now my girlfriend it looks like you were right."Naruto had no words.
" I love you"Ingrid said as she pushed Naruto down to the bed.
