Memories Of Her-Ch 27
The BAU family enjoyed the next several days there together and then all too soon the family, everybody except Derek, Penelope, Hank and Fran headed back home to Virginia, it was sad to see them all leaving but Derek and Penelope knew they had to get back for work and for Jack and Henry to go back to school.
Hatch had called about a week later and informed Derek and Penelope that Savannah and Sam would both be spending the rest of their natural lives behind bars, Savannah had been given a total of 125 years and Sam 115 years for everything that they had done to Derek and Penelope.
Hearing that news brought smiles to Derek and Penelope's faces because they knew that neither Sam nor Savannah would be able to hurt them ever again, Hotch had also learned that both Savannah's and Sam's family refused to take the baby after it was born so Hotch asked Derek if he and Penelope still wanted to pursue custody of the child to which he was told yes.
Time passed by quickly after that and soon Derek and Penelope were planning to head back to Virginia, they still had the weekend before they would be cleared to go back home and they were sitting playing with the baby when Fran's cell started ringing, she pulled it from her pocket and smiled as she hit talk.
She then said, "hello", Dave said, "hello Bella, how's everything going?", Fran said, "we're all good here, how's everything there?", Dave said, "things are good, we're all here at the BAU and Aaron just got a phone call from Judge Cade and he informed Hotch that Savannah had given birth to a daughter".
Fran said, "so she's here in town still?", Dave said, "yes, but she'll be heading back to prison tomorrow and she has been informed that neither her family nor Sam's family want anything to do with the baby".
Derek and Penelope looked at Fran and Derek said, "what's up ma?", Fran said, "Savannah is in the hospital, she had the baby, a little girl and she is going to be heading back to prison tomorrow".
Penelope said, "what about the baby?", Fran then put the phone on speaker so that way both her and Derek could hear what Dave was saying, after a few seconds Dave said, "you're on speaker", Hotch then said, "you and Derek have been given legal custody of baby girl Hayes, errr, Morgan".
Derek grinned and said, "so does that mean that we can go get her?", Hotch said, "she's not been cleared to be released yet, she was like 6 weeks early so it will be a few more days to a week before she'll be ready to go home but when she is she will be coming as your daughter".
Penelope looked down at her son and said, "did you hear that buddy, you're getting a sister", Fran said, "what are you two going to do about a name?", Penelope smiled and said, "I have the perfect name for her", Hotch said, "and what name is that Garcia?", she smiled and said, "Sophia Grace Morgan", Derek grinned and said, "Sophia Grace, I like it goddess, I like it".
Fran said, "so what are we going to do about coming home, we were suppose to leave Monday morning?", Dave said, "you can either come home on Monday and keep in touch with the hospital about your daughter or stay there and go see her, give her name to the hospital and bond with her, the choice is up to you".
Derek said, "what about Strauss?", Hotch said, "don't worry about her, she's already been filled in on the situation so she knows that you won't be in for a few more weeks and after what you've been through she's fine with it".
Derek looked at his wife and mother and said, "so I guess we're just gonna stay then, right?", Penelope and Fran both nodded their heads yes, it was then that Dave said, "if we don't have a case by next Thursday we'll be flying down to spend some time with the newest member of the family".
Penelope said, "but won't we have to stay here even longer, because she won't be able to fly till she's at least a few weeks old?", Hotch said, "we'll inform them that Sophia's grandmother is a nurse and would be there with you guys to take care of Sophia and see what they say".
Derek sighed and nodded his head and said, "is Savannah and the baby both at the hospital baby girl and I were in?", Hotch said, "yep, so getting in to see Sophia won't be a problem for you", Penelope said, "does Savannah know that Derek and I are adopting her daughter?", Dave said, "yes and to say that she wasn;'t happy would be an understatement".
Fran laughed and said, "after everything she put my child through, she doesn't deserve to even get to see hers", Dave said, "oh she wasn't and the second the baby was born she was stripped of her parental rights to the baby, so Sophia is now and will forever be Sophia Grace Morgan, welllllllllll after Aaron makes it official that is".
Everybody laughed and then Derek said, "well sweetness, how about we get dressed and go check on our daughter?", Penelope said, "sounds good to me", Fran said, "you two go, me and Hank will be fine here", Penelope said, "thanks Fran", Fran said, "you're welcome honey".
Derek and Penelope stood up and made their way toward the stairs but Penelope stopped and said, "thanks papa bear, thanks bossman, thanks everybodyyyyy", they all laughed and said, "your're welcome Garciaaaaaaa", she grinned and headed up the stairs with her husband leaving Fran and Hank downstairs with him now sleeping and Fran still talking on the phone with the gang.
