(3)-Carnival Concert.
As he stood on stage, Kyle-holding a wireless microphone in his right hand, a drum-set behind him, was a bit surprised at how many people were at this event.
While he knew there were other music performers people had come to see, it was incredible to know he would soon be performing to so many people. Kyle then spotted his mother, Phyllis, Charlotte and her divorced parents, Nick and Sharon, out in the audience. Knowing they were all there watching did put him at ease.
Phyllis's hair was still fiery red and went past her shoulders and stopped at her upper-back.
Sharon had blue eyes and blond hair that also went past her shoulders and stopped at her upper-back.
Nick had black hair, blue eyes, and thin black beard.
Kyle had some-what of a fanbase of sorts in town, thanks to putting his bands songs on YouTube. He was ready now. Sure, he and his band had done small gigs, but never a crowd like this.
His band-mates of four, all teen-boys, walked out on the stage and were quiet as they did, three of them with their guitars on, and the fourth one went over to his drums, carrying his drumsticks in his right hand. Kyle wasn't exactly close to them. He felt his band should be as close as family, but he had never really captured that essence. They were more like rowdy teens he found amusement with, but who were by in large co-workers.
Never-the-less, he was ready now.
He took a deep breath, looking out at the crowd. They were chattering among themselves, seemingly not paying attention, minus his mother, Charlotte and her parents, who were all looking directly at him.
The three boys on their guitars, and the fourth boy on his drums, were ready behind him. Kyle clutched his mic. "A 1, 2, 3, go!"
The band started blasting the music, playing their instruments. A cover of 'ONLY THE YOUNG' by the 80s band, Journey. Kyle hoped it would be enough to get the crowd hyped up, something that'd be more familiar.
"Hello, people of Prairie Grove!" Kyle shouted in the mic, "Are you ready to rock?!"
There were a few half-hearted whistles and cheers, but nothing substantial. Kyle's mother, Charlotte and her parents were among those who were cheering.
Kyle hoped he could turn the tides on the crowd. "Alright, let's do this!" He said before he started singing.
Another night in any town
You can hear the thunder of their cry
Ahead of their time
They wonder why, why, why, why why
In the shadows of a golden age
A generation waits...for dawn
Brave carry on
Bold and the strong.
Kyle used all the charisma he had, mustering up all his influences over the years to give it his all as he moved all around the stage. He interacted with the crowd, showing off his singing voice, which was, raspy, pristine and full of range. He was especially talented with rock, and he made sure to show off what he did.
Only the young can say
They're free to fly away
Sharing the same desire
Burnin' like wild fire.
*Music*
They're seeing through the promises
And all the lies they dare to tell
Is it Heaven or Hell?
They know very well
Only the young can say
They're free to fly away
Sharing the same desire
Burnin' like wild fire.
Kyle then began dancing all over the stage as his four band-mates took over, playing their instruments even louder. Once they were finished, Kyle ran back over to the front of the stage and resumed singing.
Only the young can say
They're free to fly away
Sharing the same desire
Burnin' like wild fire
Only the young can say
Only the young can say
Only the young can say
Only the young can say
Young can say
Only the young can say.
The band was then met with thousands of cheers, applause and some whistles from the crowd.
"BONES! BONES! BONES! BONES!" The whole crowd cheered, with Kyle's mother, Charlotte and her parents being among them.
Kyle grinned in amazement. He had succeeded in getting the crowd on his side.
But he soon realized...the validation he had felt from these strangers was not the same as getting validation from his brother.
He wondered if he would be as successful in that department.
Please review.
