Callie's POV

I arrived at their house and Jude was the first one to run to me. He hugged me tightly as if it were the first time I saw him again. Then Jesus came to say 'hello' while the other two completely ignored me. Stef showed me to Mariana's room, where I would be staying. Not too long after Lena called everyone to dinner and everyone sat down. I ended up at the end of the table, with Jude to my right and Brandon in front. Great, just perfect. I get to sit face to face with the 'Golden Boy', as Jesus would call it. Everyone seemed to be engulfed in conversation, me on the other hand remained silent. It didn't want to accidentally say something that would insult anyone. Well, anyone else of course.

After dinner, everyone seemed to settle down. Stef and Lena had asked me to join them in the kitchen to go over the rules. I was pretty annoyed at the amount of rules they had, I didn't even remember most of them. Soon after they let me go to sleep. Mariana was already in bed, she was sitting up working on homework, I assume.

"I'm not mad at you for holding a knife up to my mom, she's a cop she could've tackled you easily. I'm mad about who you were hanging out with at the party. Talia has heard the type of things that Devin does. I know he sells and does drugs, he also drinks and whenever he wants he gets violent." She told me, like I didn't know already. "I was at the party because I was doing him a favor besides it's not like I had a choice on who I live with. I didn't choose to live there." I informed her. "Besides, Stef would only be able to tackle me if she could catch me. No offense but I could outrun her." She chuckled at my comment.

"I'd like to see you try. Like honestly I don't think I've ever met anyone who had been able to outrun her. None of us even try, because she's a cop." "That sounds like a challenge I could get behind." I told her. A grin grew on her face, oh no, she's up to something. "Then we'll prove it tomorrow." She said before she went to sleep. What was she planning?

The next morning was a weekend day, I was the first one awake. I made breakfast and made myself coffee. Since no one was up, I went over to Devin's and we had a jog in the morning. He still wasn't fast enough, then we trained for a bit. Afterwards, we split ways, and I went back to the fosters'.

To my surprise, Stef and Lena were in the kitchen, eating the breakfast I made. "Morning, did you make this?" Stef asked with her mouth full. Lena smacked her arm, "Gross." I nodded my head, confirming their suspicions. "You didn't have to cook for us." Lena told me. "Did Callie make breakfast?" I heard Jude ask as he came from behind me. "Yep, didn't know she could cook." Stef told him. "Did I hear something about food?" Jesus said racing down the stairs and to the kitchen, Brandon and Mariana followed not too far behind. "Yeah, Callie cooked, you'll love it." Jude complimented my cooking.

"Mama, do you think we could use the school track?" Mariana asked Lena. Oh, so this is what she was planning last night. "Depends for what. Why, honey?" Her mother asked. Mariana looked at me with a smile. "Callie told me she's faster than mom. I want her to prove it." I couldn't help but smirk. Stef looked at me. "You think you can outrun an officer of the law." She said, also smiling. I shrugged my shoulders but Jude jumped in. "She can." Stef raised an eyebrow.

"I can't give you access to the track for that." Lena told us, we were a little disappointed.

"We can go to the park and race there." Stef suggested.

"Yeah, let's do it. Let's see who is better, maybe then finally Callie could admit I was right." Brandon said sure that Stef would win. Then I had an idea. "Ok, if Stef wins, I'll apologize to you and keep my opinions to myself, but if I win, you have to apologize to me." I told him. "You didn't apologize already?" Lena asked, confused. "I had no reason to apologize." He said it was so confidential. "Neither do I but I'm willing to if Stef wins." He thought about it for a second. "Ok fine." He finally agreed.

After they all finished breakfast, we headed to the park. We made the decision to attempt to run one lap around the entire park. Brandon was so sure Stef was going to win, he kept throwing micro aggressive comments at me. Stef and Lena had told him to stop, Jesus even jumped in at one point but he kept doing it.

They counted us down slowly, I started thinking, 'farthest away in the shortest amount of time.' The race started and Stef and I were at the same pace. The Fosters cheered for Stef, Jude hadn't said a word yet. That was until I heard him scream at the top of his lungs, "RUN."

Something in my brain clicked as if it were a switch. I was back in the forest, running. I knew he would get me if I stopped, so I ran faster and faster. I kept thinking the farthest away in the shortest amount of time. It felt like I was back there for a while, until I heard Jude again.

"CALLIE." He yelled but this time it wasn't from behind me. He was in front, just a few away. When I reached him I was able to come to a complete halt.

I took a few breaths before looking up. The Fosters were in a complete shock. I looked behind me and Stef was coming to a stop as well, she was more out of breath than me.

"I told you." Jude said confidentially. "Looks like you're getting out of shape." Jesus jokes. They laughed and after a few more breaths Stef responded. "I might not be able to catch her but I can still catch you."

We hung out at the park a few more minutes before heading back.

Everyone went their separate ways, I went to the kitchen and Brandon followed me.

"I'm not going to apologize." He told me. "Ok, but it was part of the deal." I reminded him. "Well just because you're faster doesn't make you right." He said with venom in his voice. "We both agreed, I would have apologized to you if Stef would have won." Despite me winning he didn't want to apologize."Would you have? Seriously Callie, with the way that you've been acting toward everyone I doubt you would've kept your word. You're acting like a sad little princess that everyone has to…"

Before I knew it my fist went straight into his face, causing him to scream. Oh no, I hit their son. I did the only thing that I could, I ran as fast as I could.

By the time I stopped I had noticed that I was on my way to Devin's house. I checked the time, it was almost time for my shift. I decided to head to work, I couldn't believe I let anger get the best of me.

I thought about why I ran, and I thought of someone, Jax. Him and I used to be close friends, I know where he is or at least was. I called Devin telling him to pick me up after work and to not tell them where I worked or that I worked. He agreed instantly. Stef and Lena had called and texted asking where I was at and asking me to go back. He instantly agreed.

Stef's POV

Lena and I were in our bedroom, I had just gotten out of the shower and changed when we heard Brandon scream. It seemed like everyone in the house heard it to, We reached Brandon just in time to see Callie run out the front door. I was tempted to run after her but remember that she was slightly faster than me earlier.

Lena went to check on Brandon while everyone else stood in shock. "What happened?" I asked him. "She punched me." He was nearly yelling. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!" Everyone turned their attention to Jude, surprised by his outburst. He was visibly angry. "DID YOU CALL THAT NAME? SHE WOULDN"T PUNCH YOU UNLESS YOU DID, YOU DID DIDN'T YOU?" He continued to yell at Brandon. I looked at Brandon. He had a moment of realization. "I'm sorry, I didn't think…" He tried apologizing but I've also had enough of his behavior.

"You're right you didn't think." "Stef." Lena tried calming me but I couldn't deal with him right now. Not when we had a missing runaway kid. Who by the way has proven to be faster than me, I'm going to have to increase my speed and stamina just to catch her.

"Brandon grab an ice pack and go to your room, you're grounded." I told him. He did as I told him. "Kids please go to your rooms." Lena told the rest of them, and despite how mad Jude he also listened.

For about the next half-hour Lena and I called and texted Callie. Until I decided to go check if she was with Devin. Lena, despite my anger and frustration, managed to convince me to approach calmly. We agreed she would stay here, in case Callie came back or there was another incident.

I drove to the Ashtons' house, when I arrived Devin answered. I questioned him and as expected he said he didn't know. I couldn't tell if he was lying or not, this guy seemed to be pretty good at that.

I headed back home and told Lena, all we could do now is wait.

Callie's POV

After finishing my shift Devin picked me up, and I asked him if he could drop me off at the Maine Forest. We arrived and he refused to let me go in there alone.

"Fine, but you have to be respectful and if I tell you to do something you have to do it." I told, he took a few seconds to respond but he could see how serious I was. "Ok, fine." He said before we hopped out of the car.

We walked for a few minutes, I could tell Devin was getting more and more uneasy. Soon enough we were at the tree with an 'X'. Wasn't just any tree, it was special.

"We need to pray." I told Devin, he looked at me like I had just grown three heads. I wasn't one to pray but this is one of the rules we came up with. He was religious and believed in a god. So we pray for him, we couldn't save him while he was alive, the least we can do is respect him in his death.

I got on my knees and put my hands together, Devin followed. I closed my eyes and began to recite a prayer out loud.

After I finished I heard, "I didn't think I'd have to wait almost a year to see you again." I turned to see Jax standing there, he was wearing a bow and spear on his back. He had a bag clipped to one of the hooks of his pants, that were on his waist. I smiled and stood up, Devin was now standing as well.

"Went to Juvie, for something completely different." I assured him. He looked at Devin, "Who's he?" "A friend, don't worry, he doesn't like cops." I told him, letting him know that his conversation would stay private.

"Alex came by a few days ago, he said that Jessie was looking for him." He told me, the only ones who knew that Jax was here was Alex, me and Jax himself. If Jessie knew she would probably try to convince him not to stay, and Jude would want to visit everyday. As much as Jax loved them, he couldn't leave and he needed his space from the rest of the world. Alex and I understood that, though Alex never knew the real reason.

That was because only Jax and I knew that Jax's brother was killed and buried here…the X represents Xavier.

"Why?" I asked Jax. "He said that this secret was killing her. She's been taking drugs and drinking too much lately." He explained. "Why now?" He shrugged. "I guess she wants some sort of closure. None of us know if he's alive or dead. Besides, I've been thinking a lot lately. I think Xavier and Mindy deserve a proper grave, wherever she is." He was right, he did deserve a grave. The only probably with that is, if he's still alive, I might be his next victim, maybe his last…

The reason for that is because I know the reason he killed Xavier. The entire time he went to look for Mindy because he fell in love with her, or so he thought he did. We were so young back then. I was only eleven when Xavier was killed.

See no one knows this but our foster father left Xavier small hints as to what happened and where she was. Early on he and I learned that she had been killed, it took us a while to find out where. Xavier told me in secret that he found where her body was, it was in the river that passed through the forest. He tried to look for her remains but to no avail.

The next day was when he killed Xavier, the worst part is I witnessed it. However, he didn't know that because he put Jax and I in a room with the remains. He had bragged about doing it like it was some kind of trophy. Jax and I managed to bury Xavier and make a small grave, without it being too obvious of what it was.

After a while, our foster father started giving me the same clues he had given Xavier. I knew at that point if he found out I knew where her body was, I would be next. I had to pretend as if I didn't figure out the last few clues.

"Do you have a way of contacting Alex?" I asked Jax. He nodded and began walking the way Devin and I came from. Once we were out of the forest he told us. "I have his number, I just need a phone." I began to pull out the phone Stef and Lena gave me, at this point it didn't matter that Devin knew I had a second phone. He didn't seem surprised by it either.

I turned the phone on and I had received a few more messages and calls from Stef and Lena. Oh shoot, I completely forgot that they had a curfew. "What's wrong?" Jax asked. "I forgot I was supposed to be back by now." I explained. "Well we can talk tomorrow…" "No, I'll just ask them if you guys can come over. One of my foster moms, Stef, is a cop. She could probably take our statements. Here, call Alex with this phone." I handed him my other phone. "Why do you have two phones?" He questioned but I didn't answer. Instead I called Stef, and he called Alex.

She didn't even let the first ring finish before she answered. "Where have you been? You had us worried sick. You can't keep running away like that. Where are you?" Stef asked practically yelling. I guess I should've expected that.

"Um… I know and I also know that this is out of the blue but I have to bring a few friends over. I'll explain when we get there but it's an emergency." I told her. She seemed to be having a conversation with Lena about it for a while. However they ended up agreeing and wanted me to return to their house right now. After hanging up I looked over to Jax, he had finished his conversation with Alex.

I told Jax they had agreed, and he told me we were going to have to pick Alex and Jessie up. Devin drove us to Alex and Jessie, the ride was mostly silent other than the greetings, no one really said anything. Jessie looked as if she had been a bit high. Alex looked tired as if he hadn't slept in days, and Jax was completely depressed. Which was reasonable, knowing your brother was killed and not being able to do anything about it. I kept my face expressionless, I needed to be strong for them one last time. Devin dropped us off at the Foster's house, I told him he should leave before they saw him, he did.

I knocked on the front door and Lena opened it. She looked at all of us, her expression saddened. She let us all in, and she guided us to the living room where Stef was sitting there waiting. "This is Stef." I told them as we sat around. Out of habit I stood in between where Stef and Jessie were sitting. I always protected them when we were together back then.

Lena sat next to Stef. "You're a cop, do you think we could tell you here or do we need to go to the police station?" Jax asked not wanting to waste time. "We haven't talked about what to talk about." I jumped in, we all agreed to not admit to certain things. "All of it, we're talking about all of it." Jessie said, but I couldn't if he ever found out that I knew where he hid her body this entire time he would find a way to make me pay for 'cheating' in one of his games. "I agree." Jax agreed, Alex nodded confirming his agreement as well. "Ok." Was all I could say.

"What's going on?" Jude was in the doorway. "I was wondering where you were." Jessie said as she went to hug him. "We're finally telling the truth." Jax told him. "Oh." Jude said sadly, he and Jessie and Jude sat next to each other. Ever since Mindy 'disappeared' her and Jude have been like best friends. "What is this about?" Stef asked, her and Lena looked at us confused. "About the cop with the gun." Jude told them.

"Wait, before we start, shouldn't we wait for your brother, Xavier? Where is he anyway?" Alex asked. Jax and I looked at each other, he looked as if he was finally ready to tell them. "He's not coming." I stated.

Stef's POV

Whatever it was they wanted to say, they clearly needed to say it. All the kids looked at Callie after she said that but she looked at Xavier's brother. "First of all, who are you all?" I asked. The kids looked at me then at Callie. "You didn't think to tell them who we were, on the phone?" Jax asked, confused. "No, I was panicked as to what you told me." "I'm Alex, this is Jessie." Introduced himself and the girl. "I'm Jax and my brother is Xavier." Jax introduced himself and his brother who has yet to appear,

"So what did you mean he's not coming?" Lena asked, returning to the previous conversation. "There's something you three don't really know." Jax looked at Alex, Jessie and Jude, then faced forward. "He's dead." All of us were shocked at what he said, except for Jax and Callie. Judging by her reaction, it's safe to say Callie already knew this.

"What makes you so sure of that?" Alex asked, I was just about to ask the same thing. "Because we buried him." He said with his voice shaking. What did they do? What are they confessing to? Did he kill his own brother? "We?" I was a little afraid to ask, because if my suspicion was right that meant… "Jax and I buried him." Callie said, avoiding eye contact with everyone by looking at the floor.

"What?" I said, shocked. Did she kill him? Or help cover it up? "We didn't kill him." She panicked, after realizing why I was shocked. "What happened to him then?" Lena asked. Callie looked at Jax, but Jax looked like he was on the verge of tears. "Our foster father killed him." Callie explained, she was trying to remain calm and keep her face expressionless but I could see the sadness and anger in her eyes, when she looked up at us. But she wasn't done talking.

"During a game of hide and seek or what he liked to call, 'hunting'. It's like hide and seek but if you get caught before time ran out, you'd get a beating with whatever he had. Only I made a deal with him, I would let him hunt me five extra minutes every time if he let Jude sit out the game. Oh and our foster father was always the seeker." She explained the game. It made me sick just hearing about it, I can't believe they had to do this. And of course Callie would protect Jude. I looked over at Lena and instantly I could tell she was horrified and near sick by what she heard.

I looked over at the other kids, at some point they had silently started crying. Jessie and Jude were hugging each other tightly. Alex had his hand on Jax's shoulder. They were all comforting each other, I can't help but wonder who comforted Callie.

"We all thought it was a regular game of 'hunt'. However, when our foster father found Xavier he had a gun. He got him in the leg, then covered his mouth and shot him in the head. He later made up a story that he had him move to a different foster house." She explained. "What? You never…" Jax was surprised, did he not know the full story? "We hid close to each other." She explained. "Did he see you?" I asked. "That's why he had you in the room too." Jax stated, while the rest of us were puzzled. "Yes, after a few days, he blindfolded and tied Jax and I's hands. He brought us to a room, where he showed us Xavier's dead body." She explained.

Jude and Jessie were sobbing, Alex listened intently and Jax had his hands covering his face.

"It's a good thing he's dead." Jax with hate spitting out with every word. Ok, I understand his anger but what did he mean by that?

"Actually, he's not." Alex told them. What is going on? Jax somehow looked even more angry. Suddenly he stood and said. "What do you mean? She shot him three times, he should be dead." He nearly yelled. What? Who shot him? Jax ran to Callie and grabbed her shoulders. "Tell me he's…Callie?" It wasn't until Jax had everyone's attention turned to Callie that I saw the look on her face.

She had a terrified look on her face. "Mindy's dead." Was all she said before she ran up the stairs. "What?" Jessie looked confused. "Xavier found out Mindy was killed by him. The last thing I remember him saying about her was that he was going to try and find her body." Jax explained.

These kids have seriously stopped keeping so many secrets, even from each other.

Callie came back with a key and a folded paper. "I need you to go to the cabin. There you'll find all the evidence you'll need." She handed me the keys and gave Jax the paper. "What's…" Jax stopped as soon as he opened it.

"It's the list of the victim's name I found on Xavier right after he died. Xavier was collecting evidence for the police and left it in the cabin. I'm not sure what's in there but he told me he had enough, he just wanted to find her body first." Callie explained.

Jax turned and held the paper up for the rest of us to see. "Is this why you're showing it to us now?" I didn't understand what he meant until I read the names. There were a few names, there was Mindy and a line under it was Xavier. They both had a line through it, but the name under it was circled. It was Callie's name, everyone looked at Callie.

"Xavier died only knowing the general area where Mindy's body was. He couldn't find her, and if Kennedy knew that I had already known the general area before he killed Xavier. He'd kill me too." There was a lot to unpack there, I don't think she noticed until Jessie asked. "Where's the general area?" "River." She said, "He looked but wasn't able to find her."

The more she talked, the more exhausted she looked. After that they told us more of the things he did. It wasn't as bad as what they had just told us but still bad anyway.

Callie's POV

It was already dark but we didn't want to wait any longer.

After heading down to the station and giving our statements. They had asked me to show them where Xavier had already searched, and they asked Jax to show them where the cabin was. That cabin had been an abandoned cabin so not many people knew about it. In fact Xavier and I stumbled onto it by accident. He found the key and kept it until he realized something could go wrong, so he had given it to just in case.

They split us into two groups, the group that went to the river consisted of two cops, Mike who was apparently Stef's ex husband and me. In the cabin group were three cops, Stef and Jax. I could tell Stef didn't want to leave my side because she was afraid he might come for me but there was an issue with it since I was her foster daughter. Apparently she wasn't even supposed to be on the case but the Captain made an exception.

I guided my group towards the river and began showing them a specific part of the river where Xavier had looked. I had this eerie feeling that I was being watched. It was worse because of how dark it was. The officer's looked around and helped as well, they had given me a flashlight too. We all spread out to help speed up the search, as I was moving my flashlight in the corner of my eye I saw a silhouette of a man…

Stef's POV

Jax showed us to the cabin, it was a ways away from the river. I wanted to make sure it was ok but I had to trust that Mike would protect her. As soon as it opened, we could see the amount of things that were collected as evidence. It went from pictures to the weapons he had used in the pictures. Something caught my eye, it looked like VHS tapes, next to it were a few cameras. The tapes had labels on them, it looked like each of the kids had one. Assuming Callie's was her initials.

"There's more over here." Jax said pointing to a room he had just come out of. I turned just in time to see him put something with a leather brown color in his pocket. Did he just take something? He is trying to hide something? If it's one thing I've learned after him and Callie is that they're secret keepers and like to deal with it alone. We go into the room. This is probably by far the most evidence of a crime that I've ever seen. Did this guy not notice his things were missing?

Jax's POV

As the police were looking around I decided to look as well. I went into a room and this looked like it was once a bedroom. I noticed something on the nightstand. It was a small journal, pocket size even. I opened to look inside, I knew I wasn't supposed to touch anything but curiosity got the best of me.

I don't know what I was expecting but it had a list of names and pictures of his victims. However the most disturbing part was that it had names and pictures of people who were still alive. Some of these people had been declared missing as well. I'm not sure what this sick bastard was going to do but I was going to find out myself if I had to. As I walked out of the room, I slipped the journal into my pocket.

"There's more evidence over here." I told them.
