It's impulse, a lot of the things that come out of Mike's mouth. He thinks it one second and says it the next without time to run it through his filter. So of course he says the first thing that comes to mind when face to face with Renee Young, and this is about her relationship with Dean Ambrose, which had gotten some awareness on Total Divas this season. His life too, to some extent, considering Maryse is on the show and it complicates matters, makes them have to spend more time together.
When Renee slaps him, he stands there blankly for a minute, licking at the sting, before laughing to himself. Kinda deserved that but still... Maryse is cooing over him, patting at his abused face while glowering at Renee's retreating back, before he cups her hand and draws her out of the ring, up the ramp to the back. He's fine, Renee doesn't hit that hard, but still.
AJ doesn't look too impressed when he answers the phone, raising an eyebrow at him. "You kinda deserved that, y'know?"
He grimaces. "I had the same thought as soon as it happened, trust me." He has a daughter, he can't imagine how angry he would be if someone would ever say something like that to her... Not that she's allowed to date until he's in the ground, but you know. "You know how my mouth is. It runs before I fully think it through."
"Oh, I know," she sighs. "You're lucky I like kissing that mouth sometimes."
"Only sometimes?" he pouts, batting his eyes hopefully at her, making her laugh. "So are you about ready to fly out to Florida?" Since Ricardo and Alicia had made the trip out to California, they're returning the favor by coming to them this time, spending Christmas in their apartment. He can only imagine how Alicia is going to spoil Sara while they're there.
"Yeah, getting there," she sighs. "I hope it's drama free. I don't want to get caught between Alicia and Paige or something ridiculous like that."
"I definitely understand," Mike sighs. "But I get the feeling that Del Rio is actually trying to do the right thing and give Ricardo his space, so we might not have anything to worry about."
"Just as long as Alicia doesn't invite Cedric or Noam Dar or anyone else," AJ says, both of them freezing as they think about that awful situation.
"Oh boy. Alright, sweetheart, I'll see you tomorrow," Mike tells her with a small smile. "Love you."
"Love you too," she tells him, the screen going black as he lays down and closes his eyes, hoping for the best this holiday.
