AJ and Mike sit on the hotel rooftop, looking out over London. They'd be heading home soon, and Becky had demanded some time with Sara, so they'd escaped out here to take in the city. Before they had to return to California, with its smoke-choked air, and struggling inhabitants. Fingers interlaced, Mike nuzzles into AJ and smiles as he kisses her lazily. "Maybe we should come back here sometime, have another honeymoon."
She laughs. "How many honeymoons are we going to have before we're done, husband?"
"Eh," he sighs, nosing at her. "Every day feels like a honeymoon when I'm with you."
"Ooh, good line," she says, running her fingers over his stubble before drawing him in for another kiss. "I'm so glad you've gotten a haircut," she sighs, tugging lightly at his hair before running her fingers through it, scraping gently at his scalp. "You were looking like an absolute madman."
He makes a face at her before rolling over, pinning her against the cool surface, kissing along her jaw. "You didn't seem to mind having more to tangle your fingers in when I was..." He scrapes his teeth over her pulse point and she groans, arching up towards him, fingers trembling as she continues to run her fingers through his hair. "See what I mean?" he asks, laughing as she pushes at him with no heat behind the move. He hums and eases his fingers between her jacket buttons, teasing over whether he's about to unbutton it or not.
She sighs softly, staring up at the stars, as he kisses her again, pleasant little tingles traveling up and down her body from his touch even after all of this time. "I love you," she murmurs.
He beams. "I love you too." Resting their foreheads together, he watches the emotions traveling across her face. "I kinda wish we could spend Christmas here. Unfortunately I'm probably wrapping in a couple of days, so..."
"Raw is calling," she sighs dramatically.
"Yes, it is." He traces her lips with his fingers and smiles down at her. "I've loved seeing more of my girls the last few weeks though."
"We've enjoyed it too," she tells him with a small smile. "Sara loves her daddy."
"Well, her daddy loves her too." He kisses AJ's nose and then leans back, lost in thought. AJ cuddles up close to him again, the wind teasing over her skin, and he hugs her close. "Think things with Ricardo is going ok?"
"Paige said they had a good talk," she says softly. "So I think so. Maybe when you guys are back on a more even time zone difference, you could call him and make sure."
"Yeah, good idea," he agrees, kissing her shoulder. "Maybe now Absolution will stop targetting Alicia."
"In a perfect world," AJ sighs, feeling bad for her friend. Having to help Ricardo through a concussion and insomnia, just for that to keep happening. But she also feels bad for Paige too, still recovering emotionally and physically from everything, just to still have so much piled up against her. "Think they're all going to be ok?"
Mike stares down at her and then smiles. "Yeah, I think so. I mean, we probably won't be inviting all of them over for Christmas this year, but maybe next everything will be calmed down and we can be a proper group again."
"I'd like that," AJ sighs, turning her gaze back up to the glittering night sky overhead.
"Me too," Mike responds, choosing to watch her over anything else around them. He'll be targetting Roman Reigns and rewarding Bo and Axel for keeping his name out there, but for now,... for now he's enjoying holding his wife under the stars, talking to her like an almost normal couple. He smirks at the thought, then kisses her forehead when she glances over at him.
Yeah, right. Normal's overrated.
