"Oh, oh!" Mike hears as soon as he wakes up the morning after Smackdown, achy and uncomfortable. He's really getting tired of Shane constantly meddling in his life, wanting nothing more than to end the McMahon's dominance in the business he loves so much but unsure how to. "Damn," he whispers, before realizing Sara is sprawled out on top of him.
"Be careful, baby," AJ chides the little girl. "Daddy's a little sore right now, don't just jump on him like that."
Mike stirs, sits up. "Don't worry about it," he says, cradling Sara close as she pouts, thumb going towards her lips. "Daddy's fine. It's always good to be woke up by my two favorite girls." He kisses her forehead and she smiles a little, casting an uncertain glance towards AJ.
AJ smiles and runs a hand through her soft brown hair before leaning in to kiss Mike. "You looked really rough when you got home last night," she murmurs.
"I felt rough," he admits. "Still do. But I won't let him win."
"Good. I'm glad." She kisses him again and he hums, reaching out and brushing his hand over her stomach. "Everything's good here. We need to schedule an appointment soon, and try to do it at a time you can come, but my doctor seems pleased with everything so far."
Mike smiles up at her. "Great," he says softly. "I can't wait to see our little one for the first time."
"Me neither," she says, settling in next to him on the bed. "Well, I don't have any plans today, do we wanna just be lazy and relax here for as long as we can?"
"Um, yes. Sound good, Sara Lou?" he asks their daughter, who giggles and nods enthusiastically as she cuddles up between her parents.
After a few hours of peace and quiet with his family, Mike finds the energy to get up, go out to the beach for what's become something of a tradition with John whenever he's home, enjoying the peace and quiet of the waves lapping against the shore and trying not to freak out whenever John starts climbing rocks or diving into the deeper parts of the ocean.
"So how's AJ doing?" he wonders and Mike smiles a little.
"Well," he drawls, stalling as John stares at him, growing a bit worried as Mike stares off with a vague smirk on his face. "We were waiting to tell you until things were a little further along, but I guess it's ok to say so now. She's a little over three months pregnant."
John blinks. Slow. Then fast. Then laughs. "Really? You mean... I'm gonna be Uncle John again?!"
"Yep," Mike says, smile growing as his best friend drops back into the sand and stares at the sky, a dazed look on his face. "Happy?"
"Ecstatic. How is Sara taking the news? A little brother or sister?"
Mike shrugs. "I think it's still abstract for her, she doesn't fully understand, but she knows we're happy so she's happy too."
"Guess that's all you can really ask for," John says. "Man, I'm so happy for you both. And Taya is gonna be... she's gonna be so thrilled. This is great. "
Mike chuckles. "I think so too," he says softly. "Hopefully you won't have to work any magic on my wife during labor this time."
John huffs, smacking Mike on the shoulder before sitting up, shaking the sand out of his hair and off of his clothes. "So any opinion on what you want it to be?"
"Nah," Mike says softly. "Just want it healthy and happy, it can be anything it wants to be beyond that."
John nods. "You're a good dad, man."
Mike exhales. "I definitely try." They fall quiet, watching the sun slowly set, imagining the future with his two kids, playing in the sand and splashing around in the water. He can't wait.
