They're holding hands as Mike leads AJ up to the house he'd had his eye on, laying the groundwork with realitors to buy it. "What do you think?" he wonders, squeezing her fingers and smiling as she follows him inside.
She looks up at the ceiling, biting her lip. It's large, and he secondguesses his decision before she tilts her head, smiling at him. "I think it's a beautiful house," she concedes. "It'll take some getting used to... but... yeah. I think I'd like it. With time."
He exhales, leans forward and kisses her. "You're the best," he tells her softly. "I promise you this will make things much easier for us, I can stay at home with you more while we're filming season two of Miz and Mrs here."
She smiles. "That's the best selling point you could've ever offered me." She leans on him and looks around. "I think our kids'll be happy here. I hope Sara doesn't miss our current house too much though..."
Mike nuzzles close to her and kisses her shoulder. "We'll be there for her every step of the way, she'll be ok. It'll just take time for us all to adjust, but we will. And just in time too." His hands creep over her stomach and she smiles, resting her hands over his, feeling the baby shift and kick against their fingers. "I never get tired of feeling that," he tells her.
"Me too," she chuckles. "When Sara was born, I really missed feeling her there. Which was weird because I could hold her and look at her and everything, but it was just different when she was right here... does that make any sense?"
"Yeah," he says softly. "It does." He eases away from her, still holding onto her hand, and heads for the kitchen and the door leading to the backdoor. She follows him and smiles as he eases the doors open and leans against them, turning to look at her as she walks forward and peers outside, jaw dropping as she takes in just how large the grounds are. "Del Rio would die, wouldn't he?"
"Uh yeah, I'd say so," she chuckles. "It almost looks larger than his Florida grounds."
"It's close," he agrees, curling an arm around her and holding her close. "It wasn't my intention, but it's definitely an added bonus."
She chuckles and tilts up to kiss him. "I bet," she says with a fond look in her eye. "We'll have to bring Sara here and show her around, she might be amused by a house without furniture in it. She can run around and have some fun."
"Sounds good," he agrees, looking down at her with a small smile.
After losing to Baron Corbin on Monday, he turns his attention onto Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura, but the men have one up on him because of the numbers game, and after eating a kinshasa, Mike curls up at the bottom of the ramp, pain throbbing through his skull down his neck. He struggles up to his feet with some help from referees and gasps as pain stabs down his ribs, gritting his teeth. This sucks, he thinks, determined to make it up to the top of the ramp with as little assistance as possible.
He tunes out the trainer as he thinks about this situation, focusing on his breathing as he's poked and prodded, the trainer taking care with his neck after such a hard landing. Once he gets the all clear, he gingerly makes his way back to the locker room and changes clothes, eager just to get back to the hotel and get some sleep before he has to return to California, handle post-finale promotional business for Miz and Mrs, and signing more papers for their new house.
He only focuses fully when his phone rings, AJ's voice grounding him. "I'm ok," he promises her. "It'd take more than Sami and Nakamura to take me out. Don't worry, sweetheart." His body is sore and heavy against the mattress, his eyes are heavy, blinking slowly, and he drifts between one word and the next, AJ's voice gentle and warm in his ear as he falls asleep.
"I'll see you in the morning, husband," she says. "I love you. Good night."
