Three weeks have passed and it's been somewhat quiet. Derek still hasn't returned and I've gotten no calls or texts from him.
" Still no answer." I said as I was pacing my room. I woke up screaming about a half hour ago. The dreams kept getting worse as the days went by. I walked to my makeup desk and saw the light bags under my eyes. I huffed before I grabbed my black lipstick and put it on. I grabbed a black tube top and blue jeans before snagging my bag. I put my hair in a messy bun as I felt slightly hot. I grabbed my breathable flannel and groaned.
" It's going to be ok." I told myself as I shrugged it off and grabbed my keys. I got on my bike and drove to school. I saw Stiles and walked over to him. He gave me a small smile and placed a kiss on my cheek.
" Sleep better?" He asked as I shook my head.
" What about you?" I asked as he shook his head.
" Not even." He replied as I took his hand in mine.
" We will figure this out." I said with a small smirk before he kissed me. The heat on my cheeks was bright as he pulled me away. We walked side by side and I saw Scott running from his shadow.
" Hey! Hey, you all right?" Stiles asked as he got Scott's attention.
" You don't look all right, Scott. You look like you have seen a ghost." I said as he shook his head as if out of breath.
" I'm okay." Scott said as I heard his heartbeat. I shook my head at him.
" No, you're not. It's happening to you, too- you're seeing things, aren't you?" Stiles asked as I smelt a familiar scent hit my nose.
" How did you know?" Scott asked as I saw Lydia and Allison come up to the three of us.
" Because it's happening to all four of you." She said as I sighed. She was right after all. We walked with her.
" Well, well, well... Look who's no longer the crazy one." She said with a smile that spoke volumes.
" We're not crazy!" Allison said as she looked a little off.
" Hallucinating? Sleep paralysis? Vivid Nightmares? Yeah, you guys are fine." She said as she looked at me when she said ' Vivid Nightmares'.
" We did die and come back to life... That's gotta have some side effects, right?" Scott asked her before looking at me.
" And you did pass out when the ritual happened." Lydia said placing a sympathetic hand on my shoulder.
" We keep an eye on each other, okay? And Lydia? Stop enjoying this so much." Stiles said before taking my hand and dragging me with him.
" Have they gotten worse?" Stiles asked as I walked with him and Scott.
" It's the same nightmare. I don't know if it means anything." I said rubbing my shoulder as I recalled the fire and smoke that accompanied the screams of terror from my home.
" It has to." Stiles said before taking my hands in his.
" We will figure this out." He said as the warning bell went off. We went to history class, I trudged to my seat beside Stiles and laid my head on the desk. I looked up and saw our teacher's name on the board; Mr. Yukimura.
" Good morning, everyone. My name is Mr. Yukimura. I'll be taking over for your previous history teacher. My family and I moved here three weeks ago. I'm sure, by now, you all know my daughter, Kira?" Mr. Yukimura said before I heard a head slam on a desk. I looked back to see a girl look sheepishly up.
" Or, you might not, since she's never actually mentioned anyone from school...Or brought a friend home, for that matter...Either way, there she is! Now, let's begin with American history at the turn of the 20th century." He said before we opened our books. The bell rang out soon enough, I followed Stiles to his locker with Scott following.
" Maybe we need a little more time to get to normal?" Scott said as I felt hot again. I slid my flannel off my shoulders.
" Yeah, try not to forget- we hit the reset button on a supernatural beacon for supernatural creatures. There's a pretty good chance things are never going back to normal. Plus we still don't know what happened to Raven." Stiles said as he toyed with his lock.
" It's not normal to pass out during a ritual that I helped with now is it?" I asked as Stiles struggled with the lock.
" We will figure it out." Scott said as I saw his attention go elsewhere. I felt my head beginning to throb.
" Rave, your eyes! Glowsticks!" Stiles said as I looked at him and saw in the reflection that they were glowing.
" Fuck!" I said as I saw Scott's eyes glowing as well!
" They're starting to glow!" I said as Scott looked worried.
" You mean, like, right now?" Scott asked with anxiety. I tried to focus to get them to stop.
" I can't- I can't control it." Scott said as I felt my skin getting hot.
" I'm getting blasted by heat." I told him as he took our hands.
" All right, just keep your head down. Look down, come on" Stiles said as he took us to an empty classroom." He told us. I fell to my knees as the waves of heat kept hitting me.
" God!" I growled as I felt my fangs coming out. I smelt blood as I saw Scott pierce his hands with his claws.
" Pain makes you human." Scott's voice entered my head.
" Whoa. Whoa. Whoa!" Stiles called as I saw him come over to me.
" Breath. Raven, you gotta breath!" Stiles told me as I tried to calm down as the heat kept going.
" Fuck!" I growled before I felt it receding. I fell into his lap as I tried to catch my breath.
" Are you ok?" He asked as he helped me up.
" I think so. I just got hot. Like my skin was on fire." I said as he checked me over.
" This isn't just in our heads. This is real. " Stiles said as I gasped out loud.
" It's affecting us differently." He said as I took his hand in mine.
" I'm not just having nightmares- I'm having dreams where I have to scream myself awake. And sometimes, I'm not even sure if I'm ever waking up." He said as I recalled what had transpired for me in the past few nights.
" What do you mean? What aren't you telling us?" I asked as I looked at him, he looked worried, yet calm.
" You know how you can tell you're dreaming? You can't read in dreams. More and more, the past few days, I've been having trouble reading. It's like I can't see the words- I can't put the letters in order." He says as his gaze goes to the board.
" Like, even now?" Scott asked him as I smelt the fear in his scent. The worry flooded his body.
" I can't read a thing." Stiles told us. I pulled him into my arms and listened to his heartbeat.
" We will figure this out I promise." I told him as the bell rang. School went by as fast or as slow as it damn well pleased. I walked quickly to my bike.
" We still on?" Stiles asked me as I smirked.
" Duh, I haven't been all up for much. Now we can focus on us for just a small amount of time?" I asked as he smirked and pulled me in for a deep kiss.
" Now, I think that would be lovely." He said with a grin.
" Sounds good. Meet me at my place." I told him as I got on my bike. I rode off and got home. I locked up and went upstairs. As I shut the door, I felt something was off. I turned around and saw my loft was covered in smoke
" What the fuck!" I screamed out as I fell on my ass and scooted backward towards the door. The fog grew grey and more full of heat.
" Not fucking wanted!" I screamed as I shut my eyes tight. I covered my ears as it grew loud. I opened them and saw there was nothing there. I looked about before getting up and shaking slightly.
" The fuck?" I asked before arming the system and sitting on the couch. I did my homework for an hour after I finally calmed down. I had ordered some pizza and pop for us to down. I heard a knock on my door. I opened the large grate door and Stiles was there with his backpack.
" Thank god you are here. I'm bored with our history homework." I said as he looked kind of off.
" What happened?" I asked him.
" My dad was going over some cases as he has a new perspective on you know." He said as he followed me to the couch.
" What did he find?" I asked as he looked at his hands.
" A car wreck that killed three people. Except for the fact that A) One of the bodies, a girl, wasn't found. B) The sight had bites and slashes. And C) It was on the night of a full moon." He explained to me.
" So he's thinking werewolf?" I asked as he nodded. He opened the pizza box and took a slice. I grabbed one as well.
" That's one of the first normal things I've heard in weeks." I said as he nodded.
" Anything new?" He asked as I sighed.
" Besides the fact that I saw fog appearing in my loft and disappearing like the exorcist nothing." I told him as he looked surprised.
" I'll be ok." I told him before calmly taking a bite out of my slice.
" We always will be. We do what we can." He said putting his slice down. I put mine down and he kissed me. I've missed his touch, a moment for us to be us.
" Sti." I moaned into him. He looked at me as if asking. I nodded intently before he pulled me into his lap as he leaned back into the couch. His lips found mine with no hesitation.
" Christ." He groaned as I felt a part of him stiffen. I smirked into his kiss as he grinned. I sat up and he removed my top before I let my hands find their way to the bottom of his shirt. I pulled it off of him and let my hands feel his pectorals.
" Fuck." He groaned as he got my bra off with a little snag. His trails kiss down my cheek and to my neck as he starts to attempt to leave a mark.
" Ahh." I moaned before he looked at me and got me up so he could remove his pants. I took mine off as he sat back on the couch. His cock stood tall and proud as I felt myself getting wet. I got on him and sank down. I gasped as his length found every sensitive spot. His hands found my shoulders as I began to bounce. The gasps and moans that came out of my mouth were music to his ears as he kept me moving. No time to stop. I captured his lips in mine as I felt the coil begin to break.
" Stiles, I feel it." I moaned as the air was getting tight.
" I'm right there with you." He moaned. The friction of his cock hitting my Gspot struck in such a way that I half shifted as my orgasm hit me like a fucking truck. Stiles groaned as he came. The hot heat spurts deep inside of me. I felt lightheaded as I fell into his arms. My body shook as the endorphins filled me.
" I needed that." I told him as he rubbed my back. I felt him lift me and pull out. I moaned at the sensitivity.
" We need to get clean." I told him with a relaxed smile. He smirked and led me to the shower. As he turned on the hot water, I saw him take the bar of soap and lather my skin. He left ghosted kisses on my neck and shoulders. It was a little hard to get cleaned up without kissing each other. We hopped into my bed and just ended up holding each other. I let my eyes close and drift off into sleep.
The howls and screams echoed as the smoke and embers hit me one by one. Like I was being punched.
" I'm not giving in! I am going to keep fighting you even if it fucking kills me." I growled as I saw those teeth flash that silver color before the heat imbued my body as the control I had over my own body drifted.
" We won't lose to you!" I snarled as I let my body fling, I felt something go through my gut as I looked down. Blood fell as I struggled to get up from my hands and knees.
" Chaos has come again." It snarled before cackling with evil lacing its throat.
" Fuck!" I yelled out as I sprang forward. I fell on the floor. I shook my head as I saw I wasn't in my room. I was on the balcony. Did I sleepwalk?
" Rave?" Stiles' voice drew me out of my thoughts as I saw him holding a blanket.
" I woke up in a slight panic, and saw you were gone." He told me as he came over and wrapped me up. I didn't realize I was naked still. We went inside and back to my room.
" You ok?" He asked as I nodded.
" Yeah, it's been happening for a few nights. I am in my bed and I wake up somewhere else in the Loft." I told him as he held me. We stayed like that for a bit before the alarm for school went off. We were in economics, I saw Stiles looking at the board and writing something down. The fuck! Coach began to blow his whistle.
" STILINSKI!" Coach yelled as he snapped Stiles back to reality.
" Uh-huh?" Stiles asked as confusion hit him.
" I asked you a question!" Coach demanded as Stiles sat kind of still.
" Uh... Sorry, Coach. What was it?" He asked as Coch looked annoyed.
" It was, "Stilinski, are you paying attention back there?"" Coach said sarcastically.
" Oh. Well, I am now." Stiles said as Coach muttered under his breath before going back to the board.
" I'm okay. I just fell asleep for a second." Stiles said as he looked at Scott and then at me.
" Babe, you were wide awake." I said pointing my pencil at his notebook. It kept saying WAKE UP. The bell rang and we all found ourselves outside for lunch. Isaac, Lydia, Allison, Scott, Stiles, and I.
" Okay, so- what happens to a person who has a near-death experience and comes out of it seeing things?" Scott asked as we were a collective as of now.
" And is unable to tell what's real or not?" Stiles added to the pot.
" And is being haunted by demonic visions of dead relatives?" Allison quipped in the conversation.
" With dreams of violent intent and fear to end up waking up somewhere else?" I asked as Lydia perked at that.
" They're all locked up because they're insane." Isaac said as I rolled my eyes before biting into my pizza slice.
" Ha. Can you at least try to be helpful, please?" Stiles asked the beta, who smirked.
" For half my childhood, I was locked in a freezer... So, being helpful is kind of a new thing for me." He replied as I huffed.
" Hey, dude, are you still milking that?" Stiles asked him.
" Yeah, maybe I am still milking that!" Isaac replied before I saw that Kira girl come up.
" Hi… Hi, sorry... I couldn't help overhearing what you guys were talking about... And, I think I actually might know what you're talking about. There's a Tibetan word for it- it's called "Bardo." It means "in-between state." The state between life and death." She said as I saw Lydia turn to her.
" And what do they call you?" Lydia asked condescending.
" Kira. She's in our history class." Scott said as I saw her smile. Awe, cute.
" So, are you talking Bardo in Tibetan Buddhism or Indian?" Lydia asked the girl.
" Either, I guess... But, all the stuff you guys were just saying? All that happens in Bardo. There are different progressive states where you can have hallucinations. Some you see, some you just hear. And you can be visited by peaceful or wrathful deities." Kira explained. Well, that's more fucked than anything.
" Wrathful deities? And what are those?" Isaac asked her.
" Like... demons!" Kira said as Stiles lifted his arms.
" Demons. Why not?" Siles said with a tired tone.
" Fucking demons, like a fucking Halloween night!" I said with an annoyed tone.
" Hold on- if there are different progressive states, then what's the last one?" Allison asked her. Kira bluntly sighed.
" Death. You die." She told us before leaving. Scott, Stiles, and I got up and began to talk.
" The sign language in my dream has to mean something? Right?" He asked as I nodded.
" Something is speaking loud and I think we should listen." I said as Scott nodded.
" Deaton might know something." Scott said as Stiles perked up at that.
" Let's go see the vet." I said as the bell rang. The day was over. Stiles, Scott, and I rode over to the Animal Clinic.
" It sounds like your subconscious is trying to communicate with you." Deaton said after inviting us in.
" Well, how do I tell my subconscious to use a language that I know?" Stiles demanded as I could smell the frustration.
" Do you remember what the sign language looked like? The placement and movement of the hands?" Deaton asked as he had his arms crossed.
" You know sign language?" Scott asked his boss.
" I know a little. Let me give it a shot." Deaton said with optimism.
" Okay, the first one was like this." Stiles said as he showed all the signs.
" "When is a door not a door?" " Deaton said as I saw Stiles look annoyed.
" When is a door not a door?" Stiles said with confusion.
"...When it's ajar." Scott answered the riddle. What the hell? Why!
" You're kidding me. A riddle? My subconscious wants to tell me a riddle?" Stiles said as I patted his back.
" All kinds of weird hitting us." I replied to him.
" Not necessarily...When the three of you went under the water when did you cross from consciousness to a kind of super consciousness? You essentially opened a door in your minds." The vet calmly explained to us.
" So, what does that mean? The door's still open? What will that do to them? Kill them? Corrupt them?" I asked worried for my friends and my boyfriend.
" Ajar."Deaton clarified to us.
"...A door into our minds?" Stiles said emphasizing the sentence.
" I did tell you it was risky." Deaton explained it.
" What do we do about it?" Scott asked him.
" Well, that's difficult to answer." Deaton told us and I felt off about the whole situation.
" Oh, no! Wait a second, I know that look- that's the "we know exactly what's wrong with you, but we have no idea how to fix it" look!" Stiles said while interjecting his thought.
" One thing I do know is that having an opening like that in your mind? It's not good. You each need to close that door, and you need to do it as soon as possible." Deaton explained to both Scott and Stiles. We walked out of the building to find Stiles' dad waiting for us.
" Dad, what are you doing here?" Stiles asked as we saw the Sheriff in front of us.
" I'm here because I could use some help. Actually...both of your help." He said as I was confused.
" Why us?" Scott asked as I perked up.
" What can we do?" I asked him as he sighed.
" Because eight years ago, almost an entire family died in a car accident. One of the bodies, a young girl named Malia, was never found. There's enough evidence to have me thinking that a Werewolf could have caused the accident and dragged her body away. If you could somehow get a lock on her scent, if you could somehow help me find her body, it might provide the missing clue." He explained to us.
" But what if it was a Werewolf?" Stiles replied as the Sheriff nodded.
" Well, there's somebody out there that murdered an entire family- someone who still needs to be caught." He replied. We followed him to the Tate residence. We snuck in through an unlocked back door. We walked into the room and began to sniff about.
" All I'm getting is some animal smell…" Scott said as I sniffed a jacket.
" What kind of animal?" Stiles asked as the growls began.
" Dog." I said as a rottie was right in front of us, lowly growling at us.
" Hi, puppy." Scott said low to it.
" Get rid of it." Stiles whispered to us. Really!
" Stiles said as he looked at both of us. Yes, you! Glow your eyes at it! Something! Be the Alpha!"
" I can't... I don't have control." Scott said as the dog kept growling.
" Okay, buddy, you're going to have to try something." Stiles said as I saw Scott being nervous as hell.
" Let me try." I said as I made my eyes glow. He whimpered and came over, rolling on his back and showing his belly. I smiled and rubbed him.
" Good boy." I told the dog before he got up and walked away.
" Here, try that." Stiles told us as he gave us two stuffed animals. I inhaled and got nothing but that dog.
" Anything?" Stiles asked us. I sighed.
" All I'm getting is that dog." Scott said as I huffed.
" Same. I can't get anything else." I said with a bit of sadness. Fuck what do we do? We left the house as quietly as we could and met the Sheriff out front.
" I'm sorry. I tried as hard as I could. If it wasn't so long ago, I might have been able to do it." Scott told him. I shook my head as well.
" Too much dog. I couldn't snap anything that was her." I said as I rubbed the back of my head. He looked a little upset.
" It's okay. It was a long shot. It was a pretty terrible idea. I think I just ripped a wound open in that poor man. I never should have brought you guys here. I don't know what I was thinking. Thanks for trying, all right?" Noah said before solemnly heading to his SUV. I felt my heart break slightly. This shouldn't be happening to him!
" Aren't there a lot of cases that go unsolved?" Scott asked Stiles, who looked a bit upset with the outcome.
" Yeah, I just think this is one he felt like he could've figured out right now." Stiles said as I rubbed his back.
" Why is it so important now?" Scott asked as I looked at Stiles and shrugged. He's going to find out regardless.
" He wants to be able to solve one more... while he's still Sheriff." Stiles dreadfully told him. I saw Scott look confused.
" What do you mean, "still Sheriff?" " Scott asked us. Stiles explained to him what was going on. I saw the anger flare up in our friend before he left in a slight huff. I went with Stiles back to his place as night was beginning. I got on his bed as he came out of the bathroom brushing his teeth.
" It'll be alright Stiles." I said as he got in bed with me. Being in the loft alone sucks at times.
" I'm hoping 'cause this is fucking dumb." He said as he pulled me to him. We just lay in each other's arms till a knock pulled us out of our peaceful state. Scott came in holding a flashlight.
" Scott?" I asked as I sat up.
" Hey, what's going on?" Stiles asked as Scott looked firm.
" You, Raven and I... We're going to go out and find a body. A dead body." He said as I groaned.
" Well fuck me then." I said as Stiles and I got up and got dressed. I put on a red tank top and black pants before we headed out. We went to the area closest to the crash site as we could.
" You know, if my dad's right, that means there's another Werewolf in town that we haven't met yet." Stiles said as he had a flashlight illuminating the wooded area ahead.
" I know." Scott said as we all walked.
" If it turns out to be something, like, triplets that form into, like, a three-headed hound of hell, I'm seriously not up for that." Stiles said as I shook my head.
" I'd protect you." I told him as he let a small smile show.
" Yeah, me, either. Especially if I can't even control my transformation anymore." Scott told us before a coyote's yowl rang through the woods. Stiles grabbed his jacket and then grabbed my hand to stop us. I heard a plop and saw Scott's phone in a puddle down a small incline.
" Sorry, buddy. I hate coyotes so much- they always sound like they're mauling some tiny, helpless little animal. Makes me sick." Stiles said as I chuckled.
" Oh ease up." I said as we climbed down the small incline.
" It still works." Scott said as he pulled his phone from the puddle.
" Let me see the flashlight. I think we found it." Stiles said as I saw the car. The faintest smell of decay hit my nose along with dried blood and rust.
" Uh, why wouldn't they move it? Isn't it evidence?" Scott asked him. I snorted.
" Roads too damn far. I think they just said fuck it and decided to leave it here." I told him as Stiles shrugged. He looked intently at the shredded metal.
" Look at this- see those? Animal claws would be closer together, right? A lot closer." Stiles asked us. I flicked my claws out and let them slide on the edges.
" It's a match." I said as a chill ran down my spine.
" So, my dad was right." Stiles says as I see Scott reach inside. He shifts his hand a bit before pulling out this baby doll.
" That's not fucking creepy at all." I said nonchalantly.
" I'm hungry." The doll perked as it was activated, causing Scott, Stiles, and I to flip out and scream.
" I think I just had a minor heart attack." Stiles said as I gripped his shoulder during the startle.
" You did! I think I might have aged 30 years!" I said as my heart started up again.
" Hey, Stiles...? Raven? Please tell me you see that." Scott asked us. I saw slightly reflective eyes looking dead at us.
" That's not a friend." I said low before the thing took off. Fuck no! I felt my eyes heat up as the familiar sensation of the glow began.
" Wait, hey, Scott! Raven!" Stiles called out before I ran off.
" Scott!" I growled out as I let myself go into a half shift as I ran after the coyote. Scott caught up as we chased it. We soon cornered it across a ravine. It snarled at us as I saw in my peripherals Scott's eyes glowing. Its growls seized as it looked at both of us before I was surprised. I saw the coyote's eyes glow.
" Malia?" Scott asked as the coyote looked at him and me with those blue eyes of a darkened soul. She ran off into the woods.
" You have got to be fucking with me!" I growled in annoyance. Why now? How can this be? All we know is we have to change her back and fast!
