(Today is 8th Birthday from The Loud House!)

WOW! In almost 1 month, this became the most favorite, followed and reviewed fanfic in the history of my FFN channel! Maybe I found the right tone, getting the Loud sisters to vent their problems and getting Lincoln's help to solve them!

I wrote this Luan chapter in just 2 days, like the previous chapters, and honestly, maybe I should stop being lazy and write all the chapters in series, publishing them one after the other. In the meantime, I'm still working on GIAL fanfic.

Saccharine Melody and Domik12: Thanks!

Quiet Waters: Yes, the more simplified, the better. Less is more. And I always abuse dialogue in fanfics, because I love seeing the characters extract what's going on in their heads. And yes, maybe Luna is a little irresponsible to be Lincoln's Mother, but Rita isn't far behind either.

Your Saving Grace is Here: Thanks for the tips and corrections. Perhaps Luna had already been fantasizing about this for some time, without purpose, but then the dream made her start to think seriously about the subject, in addition to making her question whether Sam would accept it. Personally, I imagine that Luna's rebellion, with the time, will lead her to see herself as a chameleon, dispensing with labels and genders so she can be everything at the same time. There's an interesting fanfic on AO3 called She Loves Them, where Luna sort of becomes a trans boy named Luke and Sam accepts them unconditionally.

Seanrudin, Mr. Haziq and Jvphcohcoogxoxt : I didn't know about VR Chat. I stopped at Second Life (I never played, by the way). And about Lincoln sucking Luna's nose, let me tell you my inspiration: a female judoka here in Brazil failed an anti-doping test a few years ago, and she defended herself by saying she had a habit of letting her baby nephews suck her nose, and in this contact, they may have passed the illicit substance into her body. Seriously, Google it!

Enjoy!

Chapter 04:
Luan

Knock Knock Knock Knock!

"Who is?"
"Luan."
"It's late. I'm Miss."
"Miss what?"
"Miss Placed. Get it?"
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha... Good, brother, good."
"Just 1 minute."

Luan (14 years) puts her ear to the door and hears her brother getting dressed and zipping up his pants.

Soon after, she hears the sound of the key in the lock.
The door opens and she is faced with her younger brother, Lincoln (11 years), wearing his trusty orange shirt and blue jeans.
"Go in and close the door."

After entering and closing the door behind her, Luan looks around the room.
All right

"Hey, Lincoln," Luan snaps. "Do you know why the clown dislike therapy?"
"No. Why?"
"Because the clown suffers from stress."
"And?"
"Then the psychologist says, 'you need to have fun!'"

They both laugh out loud!

"But doesn't he understand?!" Lincoln, good-naturedly, notices. "That's why the clown is stressed! He never stops having fun!"

The siblings try to contain themselves, but it's not an easy job.

"Anyway, what brings you here?" Lincoln asks.
"The foots," Luan replies.
Lincoln burst into laughter again, rolling on the floor.
"Shh, okay, Linc, that's enough," Luan crouches down and supports her brother. "I don't want you having a hilarysteria attack!"
Lincoln gives small blows to Luan's legs and knees, to try to reduce the laughter.
"Sure, you can take it out on me," Luan encourages him, smiling. "Just don't hit too hard, okay? I don't want you to be Lynn Boy Jr."
"Okay, okay…" Lincoln wipes away his tears of joy.

"I want to vent to you, Dr. Loud," Luan announces.
"Huh?" Lincoln still makes fun. "But I won't stress you out too much?"
"Not at all," Luan assures. "I want to be very serious now. No jokes and no puns."
"I doubt you'll go through the entire session without making a single joke," Lincoln crosses his arms, relaxed.
"Want to bet?" Luan frowns.
"If you falter, I'll throw a pie in your face," Lincoln challenges her. "And you post on your YouTube channel, Luan Out Loud."
"And if I stay serious until the end, you'll get the pie in the face," Luan retorts. "And you post on your channel Hot Lincs."
"Deal done," Lincoln accepts. "And don't worry: whatever we talk in this room will die here."

With that said, he picks up the broom and looks at the ceiling.

"Let me guess," Luan observes, still kneeling on the floor. "You're going to check to make sure Lucy isn't hear-OUCH!"
Without taking his eyes off the ceiling, Lincoln smacks Luan's face with the broom.
"Hey, what's wrong, Lincoln?" Luan complains, now very serious. "I can't prank you, but you can prank me?"
"If you're not happy, I'll throw you out of the room and lock the door again," Lincoln threatens, poking at the ceiling ventilation duct. "And the session ends before it begins."
"Grunf. As you wish. I stay," Luan mumbles, as she undoes her ponytail. "Guess I can't be the only cruel sibling in the family, after all."

After putting away the broom, Lincoln deepens his voice:
"Dr. Loud is ready to attend you now. You can lie down on the couch."
"Thanks, Doctor," Luan lays down on Lincoln's bed. She already has the habit of walking in socks around the house, as the noise of her shoes inhibits her surprise factor.

Lincoln drags the chair towards him, making an infernal noise, which bothers Luan.
Lincoln sits in the chair and announces:
"Now say everything and hide nothing."

"Okay," Luan begins. "As I said, I will avoid jokes and puns while we speak here. In fact, I'm seriously thinking about drastically reducing my comedic streak."
"Serious?" Lincoln wonders, poking his chin with his pencil.

"Yes, Doctor," Luan confirms. "My image as a clown is already starting to interfere with my interpersonal relationships, and I would even say intrapersonal ones."
"In what way?"

"You see: last week, I had to form a group in my class to do a school project about the strength of women in the job market. And my colleagues didn't let me be the group leader. Guess why?"
"Hmm…" Lincoln reasons. "Because they thought you were too comical to be taken seriously?"
"Exactly," Luan waves her hands. "Just because my focus is on comedy doesn't mean I'm alienated and not keeping up with the world around me."
"For sure. And nothing prevents you from studying Law or Administration when you are at University."
"So it is. It's important to always have a Plan B, in case your dream gets stuck. And a Administration degree would be important for me to know how to manage my artistic career."

"Any other negative consequences?" Lincoln insists.
"I already told you that I was almost expelled from school for playing a 'cruel' prank on a student who had offended my Muslim friend Parvana. You all know I'm hot-blooded. I can't bear to see an injustice that I already want to interfere with. My impulsive nature and vengeful streak take a heavy toll on me, in the sense that I am seen as nothing more than a funny girl who only lives by playing pranks on others. A Joker from High School. And I, who was never a sociable girl, end up pushing people even further away from me. And the same applies here at home. How many times do I irritate you with my infamous puns and inappropriate jokes, as well as the occasional pranks I pull on you? Don't be a hypocrite now: you yourself are uncomfortable not having me as a 'normal' sister."

"Maybe," Lincoln admits, rolling his eyes. "And what do you intend to do? Abandon the comedy?"
"No, nothing like that," Luan dismisses. "I almost retired from comedy after I felt sad about hurting all of you before my stand-up contest at the pub. I really came to believe that comedy was degenerating me, turning me into a terrible sister for my family. Today, I see that doesn't have to be that way. The problem is not with the weapons, but how you use them."
"Don't let Luna hear that," Lincoln warns.
"Yes, she is a disarmamentist," Luan acknowledges. "But what matters is our family, not ideological differences."

"So what's your alternative plan?" Lincoln wants to know.

Luan runs her hand through her loose hair:
"Maybe I have to stop joking about everything and start sounding like a more serious person. In fact, I'm starting to want this. I myself am having a crisis about my identity, as if I were eternally inside a character."
"Trapped in an invisible box, like in your mime pantomimes?" Lincoln suggests.
"More or less. I am gradually disbelieving in me. I think it's time to take myself seriously. And you, what do you think?"

Lincoln clears his throat before responding.
"Look, Luan: you are free to change and be any way you want. But don't think I love you less just because you're… playful."
"Irritating," Luan corrects.
"No, I wouldn't say that. Okay, you can fill our patience with your unpredictable pranks, but I understand this as part of your essence, of who you really are."
"What if I stop everything now? What will you think?"
"I won't think of anything. If you want to be a serious girl from now on, fine, I accept. On the other hand, if you want to keep tying my shoelaces together…" He chokes.
"You don't want that," Luan points out.
"No, I don't," Lincoln acknowledges.

"Alright, bro. I won't do anything else to upset or hurt you," Luan assures, turning to him, still lying in bed. "And okay, you can understand my clownish sister aspect... But what about the people at school? I can't just convince every one of them that I'm a sensible fool."
"Well…" Lincoln muses. "You may be right, but…"

"There are certain civilized rules that we need to maintain in the name of society," Luan ponders, sitting on the bed. "I'm not going to wear a bikini inside the court, nor squirt water on the boss in a management meeting. So, I feel that the right thing to do will be for me to remain serious outside the house... and debauched inside the house!" She shakes her arms. "I'll be the same person, just stepping into the right role at the right time."

"Well, if it makes you gain good morale among your peers and teachers at school... Go ahead. Trying it doesn't hurt at all."
"That's it!" Luan throws her arms up in the air. "Enough of being a full-time clown! Time to be less ludic and more lucid!" She realizes what she said. "Er... Does that sound like a pun?"
"I don't think so," Lincoln refutes.
"Good," Luan sighs.

Lincoln checks his watch:
"Well, we're done here."
"A little quick, but for me, that's enough," Luan assures, getting down from the bed.
"How do you feel, Luan?"
"I feel a lot more comfortable," She acknowledges, kneeling in front of her brother.
"Will you commit to being a more serious girl and stopping the cruel pranks at school?"
"Yes, I commit," She assures. "I'm content to play with just you guys here at home. And even then, in smaller doses. After all, less is more."
"For sure."

Luan exhales a deep sigh of relief.
And she gives Lincoln a big hug.
"Thanks so much, bro."
"Anytime, Lady Joker," Lincoln quips, making Luan laugh softly.

The two share a Peck Kiss.

"How about you open the door for me?" She suggests.
"Okay," Lincoln gets up from the chair and turns his back to Luan...

...that pulls his pants down!

"HEY!" He complains.

"Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Luan throws herself on the floor. "I accept falling of shame, but only if your pants fall together! Ha ha ha ha ha!"
"You lost the bet!" Lincoln announces, pulling up his pants.
"Yes, I know, I'm going to get a pie in the face..." Luan acknowledges, smiling from ear to ear. "Revenge is sweet!"
"And you better leave soon, otherwise I know who will turn a pie here!" Lincoln sneers, lightly kicking Luan in the face.
"OUCH, okay, Lynn Boy Jr... What can I do? My bad habits..." Luan gets up from the floor and cleans herself.

Just as she's about to walk out the door...
"Wait. There's one more thing," Luan warns.
"Speak."

Luan turns to her brother:
"Remember Maggie, that emo girl from the birthday party you almost ruined?"
"Yes."
"She met me in Central Park while I was running and said that she has been following me for a while on my YouTube channel and watching me at the comedy events I do. She told me that she admires my work and asked me if I could arrange a meeting with her so we could talk a little. I, somewhat jokingly, asked her if she thought I was beautiful, and she was speechless."
"Oh, gee," Lincoln smiles.
"I suspect she has a crush on me. And actually, I'm not against. Maybe it will prosper, maybe it won't."
"But what exactly did she see in you? After all, you two are so different. You are happy and positive, whereas she is so dark and negative."
"That is the question. Would our personality differences be a major obstacle to our friendship, or even courtship in the future?"

Lincoln scratches his head.

"Well, if our family life says anything... Lucy is the darkest girl in the family, and we all get along really well with her. In fact, she has a better concept of you after you taught her how to overcome her fear of public speaking. So, personality differences are not a big obstacle to love or friendship, or at least they shouldn't be. If you and Maggie love each other for who you are, regardless of your facades... The important thing is the two of you be honest, saying what you really see as value in each other."
"You're right, bro. And like you said: trying it doesn't hurt at all."
Lincoln nods.

She pulls the door handle and takes one last look at her brother.

"That's All, Folks!"

BLAM!

Since then, Luan has become a more serious girl, both at school and at home, prioritizing the morning and evening to act more fun with her family.

She calls Lincoln to record the video, and he throws 4 pies at her, leaving her totally covered in cream.

One day, Luan introduces Maggie to the Loud Family and announces that she is her girlfriend.

Everyone in the family welcomes them and gives them a collective hug.

Here it is! Yes, maybe you think I made Luan too nice in this chapter and miss me covering those infamous episodes of April Fools, where she almost murders the entire family with her cruel pranks. I haven't watched these episodes yet, and, honestly, I don't know if they are canon in this fanfic.

Luan temporarily retired from comedy in No Laughing Matter. She became Lucy's mentor in Head Poet's Anxiety. And she entertained Maggie's birthday party on Funny Business. The cruel prank to defend Parvana at school was an idea taken from fanfic Parvana's New Pal, by BigMoose01.

Next chapter will be about Lynn Jr.
