Finally Belonging Somewhere-Part 78:

Narcissa was laid in Aurora's bed with her daughter's head on her chest. A dream she'd almost given up on was now coming true. Her daughter waking up in her arms on her birthday was making the mother feel rather emotional. Running her hand through her daughter's blonde waves, just watching her sleep hugging onto her bear and unicorn teddy thrilled Narcissa in ways almost lost forever.

"Happy birthday my darling girl," Narcissa said as she felt Aurora finally waking up in her arms and she looked at her before kissing her forehead.

"It's my birthday? It's really my birthday?" Aurora asked and Narcissa nodded softly before laughing softly and beginning to cry causing Aurora to sit up, "Mummy don't cry! It's not a sad day! Daddy! Daddy!" she called out in a panic and it wasn't much longer before Lucius came crashing into his daughter's room.

"Oh Aurora!" he sighed softly, "mummy's happy and that's why she's crying, not because she's sad," he explained as he hugged his daughter close to him, "it's your first birthday with us and that is something that we'd never thought we'd ever have," he said softly as he stroked Aurora's blonde hair, "happy birthday darling," he said and Aurora just giggled before Narcissa found her slipper boots and said that it was time for Aurora's birthday breakfast.

Narcissa looked at Lucius before hearing her daughter squeal as she was soon having a piggyback ride on her father's back. Narcissa walked alongside making sure that Aurora wasn't going to slip and hurt herself. That was the last thing Narcissa needed, especially on Aurora's birthday.

Lucius placed her carefully onto the floor and let her walk in the last few steps before she ran over to Draco and hugged him and then went to hug everyone in the dining room before gasping as she saw all the strawberries she could eat, waffles and pancakes and syrup piled high.

"Where's the usual…? I thought you didn't like me easting this…?" Aurora asked confused.

"Well it's you birthday so today and tomorrow this will be breakfast," Narcissa explained and Aurora hurried to her seat and sat in it and Astoria reached out and placed two pancakes and two waffles and some strawberries onto Aurora's plate and poured some syrup over the lot before Aurora began to eat her breakfast.

After Aurora had been cleaned up Narcissa took her upstairs to get her ready and the gasp and look on her daughter's face as she saw her dress and tiara and shoes.

"We will go outside and you can open your presents outside and then we will have lunch," Narcissa explained as she used her wand to curl her daughter's hair and then placed on the tiara on her daughter's head. She looked at her daughter one last time before beginning to lead her downstairs and outside to where everyone was gathered.

The plan had been to reveal one section at a time but everything was on display and Aurora gasped and smiled before she saw her presents and hurried over to them and began to open them without asking first. Nobody had the heart to tell her that she should have waited. The girl had probably never had a birthday… a proper birthday before and she was just so excited and unable to wait as she'd seen all the presents laid there.

She thanked everyone constantly for what she'd got and even when she found another present she'd thank them again. Everything was such a delight to her and never had she received anything on her birthday before. She smiled and looked at everything in such detail before moving onto the next thing. Lucius and Narcissa were hoping that Aurora wouldn't realise that there was nothing from them as of yet. They didn't want to give her the book on the foal and ruin the surprise.

"Let's have lunch and then we can start the main afternoon activity," Draco said before Aurora could realise that there was nothing from her parents.

Lunch was a tea party fit for a little princess's birthday. Narcissa watched her daughter eating her jam sandwiches and soon decided that her daughter really was a princes, one who had suffered so much but she was still so innocent and she was every bit Narcissa's daughter. Lucius watched as Aurora had some tea and smiled as he saw the delight on her face as she was finally able to drink what she had longed to try for ages. She looked delighted at that fact and grinned throughout lunch and it delighted Narcissa and Lucius so much to see their daughter happy and smiling.

After lunch the parents revealed the treasure hunt to their daughter and allowed her some freedom and sat back watching as she dashed from place to place finding her figurines. Things were going well and then the group heard a frustrated scream and Astoria hurried over to help her. Lucius and Narcissa had checked the clues and knew that there was one that might take a little work and they both guessed that Aurora had reached the clue that would give her trouble.

Eventually the two witches returned and Aurora showed off all her figurines and she gasped as she learnt what the notebook was for before finding out that she would be able to take her tow favourites back to Hogwarts with her.

"I will have such a choice to make," Aurora said before looking as her parents said they had a couple of things to show her. They excused themselves and Aurora before they headed towards the Secret Garden, "why are we going to mummy's garden?" she asked.

"Because there's some special things inside there for you as well as everything you have in the main garden," Narcissa explained before passing Aurora her own key and stood back as she opened the door and walked in before gasping.

"It's another treehouse! And a unicorn carousel and a swing!" the girl gasped as she rushed in and began to have a look around everything and looked, "but who ride the carousel with me?" she asked.

"We all will. The Secret Garden will grant you special permission for someone to ride the carousel with you otherwise it's just me, you and mummy who can come in," Lucius explained as he watched Aurora get on the princess unicorn. He waited until Narcissa had joined her before starting the ride going and he allowed Aurora a few rides before silently deciding with Narcissa that they had to go and tell Aurora about the foal.

"Aurora sweetheart. We need to go to the stables as you haven't had our present from us yet," Narcissa nodded and Aurora smiled softly before carefully getting off her unicorn and then heading with her parents across to the stables.

"Where is my present?" she asked before Narcissa passed her a book and she looked at it, "taking care of a foal?" she asked before Lucius took his daughter over to the pregnant foal.

"This female is pregnant and she is going to give birth in a month to the foal that your mother and I will help you to look after," Lucius explained, "would you like that?"

"So I would have a horse… pony that I help grow up?" she asked as she tried to understand what her father was saying.

"That is correct and it would just be me, you and mummy helping you with it," Lucius said before a squeal and then the tears fell. Narcissa had been waiting for it and she scooped Aurora into her arms and soothed her before the three joined the rest of the party and Narcissa shook her head at the grandmothers.

"Let her sleep for a little and then we'll let her have the heirlooms," Narcissa said, "I'm surprised she even lasted as long as she did. Maybe give her them another time. Tomorrow would work better," she said before Druella went to stroke Aurora's arm but Narcissa moved Aurora back. Her protection mode was high and she allowed Aurora to sleep for a bit so she could enjoy the rest of her special day without feeling too tired for it was a long day for her but she'd been made to feel so special, like a princess, that she'd remember that birthday for years to come.
