Welcome to February everyone! I am so glad to get January behind us. It always seems to drag after the business of December. This month I plan to get back on track with some things and that will be a relief. My January kinda got lost with the wisdom tooth extraction but I'm fully better now and hope to be writing lots this month.
Stay safe.
Lots of love,
LM xx
Finally Belonging Somewhere-Part 87:
It was one day when Narcissa was in the library that she was cornered by the Hogwarts Librarian.
"Your Aurora has been searching up Death Eaters for some reason. Anything to do with your sister's upcoming trial?" she asked and Narcissa sighed softly as she looked at Madam Pince.
"Probably. She's rather curious I think because of the trial but there are still some things that we want her to be kept from for now," Narcissa said sighing softly, "we still want to protect for a while longer. Her problems mean that she's still not understanding as much as she should."
"Can I offer some advice?" the Librarian asked and an uncertain nod came from the Malfoy mother, "don't shatter her curiosity but try and guide that curiosity but be prepared for her to ask questions about things that you may not want to tell her the answers to but she will want to know the answers. My parents made that mistake when they claimed me back off my grandparents and I never trusted them afterwards."
"Thank you Irma," Narcissa said softly before heading off in search of Draco, eventually finding him… and Astoria… tucked away somewhere in a deserted corridor working on Astronomy.
"When were you going to tell me about Aurora researching Death Eaters?" she asked her son and Draco's eyes widened as he looked up at his mother.
"How…?" the Malfoy heir stumbled as he looked at his mother.
"Madam Pince told me and gave me some advice whilst she was at it, but I'm surprised you never told me about it. This is the kind of thing that I should know about Draco," Narcissa said, "I trust you to keep an eye on her and you keep something like this from me and this is something that you really should not have kept from me Draco…"
"Please… Mrs. Malfoy," Astoria said, "Draco was more worried about trying to explain things to Aurora rather than explaining to you," she said.
"What did you tell her?" Narcissa asked, "I don't mind which one of you answers because you are clearly both involved in this."
Draco looked at Astoria as he struggled to find his words and he tried to speak but found that he couldn't.
"Draco explained that their father and grandfather had no choice but that Mr. Malfoy isn't a Death Eater any more. He's a good man who loves his children dearly," Astoria said as she knew Draco was struggling to find his words, "she appeared to accept that and we haven't heard her say anything or ask anything since."
"Thank you Astoria. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go and find my daughter and discuss this with her. Curiosity indeed. Be warned you both… she's reached the starting to as questions stage," Narcissa said before she headed to the Common Room and saw that Aurora wasn't there and then realized that her daughter could be outside with Charlotte.
She headed out towards the Great Lake; her eyes soon catching sight of her daughter… alone but reading a book. She sighed before walking over and sat by her daughter.
"Where's Charlotte?" she asked as she looked at the book her daughter was reading.
"She's in the Greenhouses helping Professor Sprout with the plants in there," Aurora said as she looked at her mother, "so I came out here with my book for a while whilst I waited for her. What are you doing here mummy?"
"Why were you reading about Death Eaters Aurora?" she asked her daughter and instantly pulled her onto her lap as Aurora went to move away from her, "you're not in trouble darling but I just want to understand why you were looking at them," she said.
"Because of the trial… I want to be able to understand everything that will be said. I want to be able to understand it because it could be important that I understand," Aurora said, "I also heard Daddy was one and… and I wanted to know what the Death Eaters were. Did I do something wrong?"
"Oh no! You've done nothing wrong at all," Narcissa said as she hurried to reassure her daughter, "I just had no idea that you were so curious about the Death Eaters… or that you knew your father was one…"
"Draco said Daddy and Grandfather never had a choice…" Aurora said, "why did they not have a choice?"
"Your Grandfather was one who believed in Purebloods ruling over everyone and he was a prominent member of society so he had no choice and Daddy had to follow into his father's seat when your Grandfather became too old to assist the Dark Lord…"
"But she had a choice didn't she?" Aurora asked, "and she chose to be one… why would someone do that?"
"Bellatrix had a choice and I also believe that she was in love with Tom Riddle as he was known at the time and that enabled her to follow him closely and learn what he was up to," Narcissa explained, "when he knew this and said that he could make her a powerful witch and master duelist she said yes instantly. You see my sister desired power as well as the Dark Lord so it was obvious that she was going to follow him. He was powerful with his words and he used them to persuade her to follow him and it was then that she began to change. She became dark and cold and started to go insane and I don't remember her much after that."
"Why not?" Aurora asked as she listened to what her mother was telling her. Narcissa sighed before remembering what the Hogwarts Librarian had said.
"She started to get a bit crazy and lost sight of what mattered to her and that was rather sad to see and she didn't care about anything but power, not even family. That is why I believe she took you in the end. The fact I had Draco angered her… but then, against the odds, I had you little darling and that angered her and she took you. But she will never hurt you again," Narcissa said before she held Aurora close and was relieved that she'd told Aurora as much as she wanted to without making things complicated. After all Aurora had the power to send Bellatrix from her life and the more prepared she was the more chance there was of that happening.
