If Mike was sore last week, it has nothing to how he feels this week. As pleased as he was to announce himself the host of Wrestlemania, it had quickly gotten diminished by Seth Rollin's interruption and subsequent demand for his phone to call Logan Paul. When he had tried to refuse, Seth had taken the phone by force, leaving Mike dizzy and uncordinated against the ring ropes.
But that hadn't been enough, even after Seth got through to Logan and had gotten what he wanted out of the situation, he then returned just to curb stomp Mike once more into the mat.
"I can't even have that moment in peace," he grouses to AJ, slumped down on their couch, arms crossed over his chest, a pout on his lips. "I hate that man so much. Like it's my fault that people would even rather talk to me than him."
AJ consolingly rubs his arm, watching as he tips his head back and pinches his nose. "Poor baby," she says. "I know, that should've been your moment."
"I don't know why I'm always the target," he whines. "I'm so sick of getting curb stomped! My poor face."
AJ bites her lip, reaching up to ghost her fingers over his cheek, slightly reddened from ring mat burn. "You want another massage?" she offers, unsure how to handle this. It should be a happy time, she knows- Wrestlemania season is here, and although Mike isn't actively wrestling on the card, he has a big role to play in the event and she knows it's important to him. Unfortunately Seth isn't giving him a minute to breathe.
"No," he mumbles, still pouting.
"Alright," she says, choosing instead to kiss him before cuddling up close to him, waiting to see what he wants to do. When he shifts and wraps an arm around her, holding her even closer, she smiles and presses her face into his neck. "It'll be ok," she reassures him quietly.
He nods. Finds her hand and squeezes it, smiling a little when she laces her fingers with his. "Thanks, sweetheart," he murmurs, turning slightly to press a kiss to the side of her head. "For always having my back. Means more than I can say."
She smiles at him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Always," she responds.
