Chapter 79: The Thief That Keeps on Thieving!
As Ash and his friends were walking by a lake.
Dawn looked and admired the new ribbon she held on her hand.
"It isn't just a dream, my second ribbon."Dawn said in joy.
"Yeah, now is mine and Dennie's turn."Ash remarked. "It won't be long until we both get badge number 4."
"Pika!"Pikachu agreed.
Denise nodded while smiling and blushing a little.
Then a Yanma flies by and lands on Dawn's head.
"Aw, who's this?"Denise asked with a smile.
"It's a Yanma."Brock replied.
It flies over to Ash's head and Dawn checked it on her pokedex.
"Yanma the Clear Wing Pokemon."Dawn's Pokedex said. "It's eyes can see a full 360 degrees around without moving its head."
"Wow..."Dawn said softly.
Yanma flew over to Brock's head and lands briefly before flying over to Denise's head.
"Guess Yanma likes going on people's head."Ash commented.
Then Yanma flew away and went across the river.
A Trainer named Tyler comes running towards the gang.
"Excuse me, you guys haven't seen a Yanma flying around here?"Tyler asked.
"As a matter of fact, yeah."Dawn replied.
"It just took off over the lake."Ash responded.
"Okay, thanks."Tyler answered and started running.
"Let's go too."Ash suggested.
"Okay."Denise, Dawn and Brock answered in unison.
Tyler catches up with Yanma, who flew on top of a small rock.
"I finally found ya!"Tyler said. "Okay Pippy, go!"
His pokeball opened sending out Pippy, his female Piplup.
"Piplup piplup piplup!"
"Use peck, Pippy!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy uses Peck but Yanma dodged the attack.
Ash and his friends arrived from behind.
"His trying to catch that Yanma."Ash said.
"And he has a Piplup named Pippy too."Dawn added.
"Piplup piplup!"Piplup answered happily.
Yanma used Sonic Boom at Pippy.
Pippy gets knocked backwards.
"Aw man."Tyler said sadly.
"You gotta dodge more quick if you wanna catch that Yanma!"Denise called out.
"Pippy, are you okay?"Tyler asked.
"Piplup."Pippy replied.
"Okay, use Pound!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy used Pound, but Yanma dodged and used Wing Attack.
Pippy was knocked down and Yanma flew away.
"Another try and another mess."Tyler said sadly as he fell on his knees.
"Piplup."Pippy responded in shame.
"It's okay, it's not your fault."Tyler assured.
"Piplup."Pippy said looking down.
Ash and his friends sit with Tyler and start talking together while Pippy and Piplup were playing with each other.
"Cool, so you chose Piplup as your first pokemon?"Ash asked.
"That's right."Kyler replied. "I decided I would start out my journey with a water type."
"Piplup was my first pokemon too."Dawn remarked and looked at Pippy. "Pippy, nice to meet you."
"Piplup."Pippy responded and did a happy dance.
"My name is Dawn."Dawn introduced.
"I am Denise, Dawn's twin sister."Denise answered.
"Hi, I am Ash."Ash said.
"My name is Tyler."Tyler replied.
"It's a pleasure Tyler, my name is Brock."Brock admitted.
Tyler nodded in response.
The two sisters looked at Pippy.
"That tiara looks great on you."Dawn complemented.
"You look like a little princess."Denise giggled.
Piplup gives a respond at Pippy causing her to smile at him.
"Well, it's a gift from my mother for our journey."Tyler said.
"How long have you been on your journey anyway?"Ash asked.
"Uh...it's been about a week."Tyler replied.
Brock smiled. "Sounds to me that your journey have just begun."
Tyler nodded in response.
"See, right upfront, I decided I was gonna catch the very first pokemon I managed to touch and that was that Yanma you saw."Tyler explained. "I've been chasing that Yanma for three whole days now and it always seems to get away from me."
"Three days?"Ash repeated.
"Wow, your first catch."Dawn said softly. "I remember how long it took me to catch Buneary."
"That was my Caterpie back in Viridian Forest."Ash stated and looked at Pikachu. "I sure was happy, right Pikachu?"
"Pika Pika."Pikachu replied kindly.
"My very first catch was my Vaporeon while she was still an Eevee."Denise remarked.
The four heroes stood up.
"Tyler, how about we let us help you catch your first pokemon?"Ash asked.
"Wow, thank you."Tyler responded.
A While Later...
The group looked for Yanma and Ash's Staravia flew down pointing its wing to where it was.
"Staravia, spotted Yanna!"Ash announced.
Pippy went where Yanma was.
"Alright Pippy, Bubble go!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy used Bubble but Yanma dodged the water attack.
"Now use Peck!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy used Peck to hit Yanma.
"Yes!"Tyler cheered.
"That's it, Tyler!"Ash encouraged. "Keep it up!"
"Okay Pippy use Pound!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy uses Pound and hits Yanma again.
"Looks like Tyler is getting the hang out."Dawn said.
"It sure looks like it."Denise agreed.
Yanma flew up and charged at Pippy with Quick Attack.
"That's Yanma's Quick Attack!"Brock warned.
"Tyler intercept it!"Ash stated.
"Right, use Peck one more time!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy charged with Peck and Yanma was sent backwards seeming unable to battle further.
"Good job!"Denise chuckled.
"Now Tyler the pokeball."Ash commented.
"And make it a good throw."Brock added.
"Alright, go..."Tyler started as he took out a pokeball. "Huh?"
Then a Magikarp submarine came out of the lake and Team Rocket appeared causing the heroes to gasp.
Team Rocket perform their motto.
"Is that the sound of negativity I hear?"
"Bummer badgering is what I hear!"
"On the wind!"
"Past the stars!"
"In your ear!"
"Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!"
"Dashing all hopes, putting fear in its place!"
"A rose by any other name is just as sweet!"
"When everything's worse, our work is complete!"
"It's Jessie!"
"And it's James!"
"Meowth, now that's a name!"
"Putting the do gooders in their place!"
"Team Rocket..."
"We're in your face!"
The four heroes glared at Team Rocket.
"Team Rocket."Dawn muttered.
"Time to throw the hand, under hand."Jessie giggled.
She throws a pokeball and caught Yanma without any effort shocking the group.
"What?!"Tyler said in disbelief.
"Love when twerps do all the work."Jessie complemented.
"And we get the play!"James and Meowth said in unison.
Team Rocket escaped with their catch, leaving Tyler sad and falling on his knees again, crying.
"And I was about to get my first catch!"Tyler said sadly.
Piplup comes out of the water, not finding Team Rocket's Magikarp submarine.
"Piplup."Piplup replied sadly.
"No luck, huh?"Dawn asked.
"The nerve of those creeps."Denise mumbled bitterly.
"Team Rocket must be around here."Ash suggested.
"The problem is there are lots of lakes and ponds around here."Brock admitted. "And they can be on any underwater."
"I can't believe what Team Rocket did!"Ash said angrily. "Stealing someone's first pokemon is unforgivable."
"And after chasing that Yanma for the past three days."Tyler cried.
"Hey, don't do that."Ash said with a frown. "You can't quit after one defeat, your journey has just started! Believe me, you're going to have to face a lot harder stuff than this."
"You have nothing to worry about."Denise remarked. "If you stick with this, you and Pippy are going to be just fine."
"Yeah, this is, of course, no time for you to give up."Brock agreed. "Well, it's true that once a pokemon is captured and that's that. So now's the time for you to set your sights on a new pokemon."
"Yeah!"Tyler agreed confidently while standing up.
Then another Yanma flew past the heroes.
"Wow, another Yanma."Ash said in surprise.
"Hey, why don't you catch that one?"Dawn suggested.
"Great!"Tyler replied before taking his bag and began running after the wild pokemon.
"Hey Tyler, wait up!"Dawn called out.
The four heroes run after Tyler.
Later that Evening...
The heroes and Tyler were searching for the Yanma.
Then Staravia flew up to them.
"You lost track of Yanma, didn't you?"Ash asked.
"Staravia."Staravia responded.
"Well, the sun is setting and it's getting dark here."Denise stated.
"Maybe it's best if we call it a day, don't you agree?"Dawn asked.
Tyler nodded in agreement.
The heroes set up a table to have lunch.
"This is the first time I've ever camped out."Tyler remarked.
"And wait until you got a taste of Brock's cooking."Ash admitted.
"There's nothing better traveling with a good friend who's a great chef."Dawn complemented.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu agreed.
"I see."Tyler said.
Brock brought a tray that held warm bowls of soup to his friends to eat.
Afterwards Denise made some apple dumplings as desserts for her twin sister and friends to enjoy.
"Wow Denise, thank you!"Tyler responded with a smile. "Your apple dumplings were amazing!"
Denise smiled. "Thanks."
"When it comes to baking, Denise is a super genius."Dawn giggled.
Ash showed Tyler his gym badges.
"These are the gym badges I got in the Sinnoh region so far."Ash admitted.
"These are great."Tyler chuckled. "Good for you, Ash."
Dawn showed Tyler her contest ribbons.
"And take a look at the contest ribbons I won."She said kindly.
"Wow."Tyler remarked.
"Contest battles have their own unique styles and they are fun too."Dawn explained.
"Sounds cool."Tyler said. "I was planning on competing in gym battles but pokemon contests sound great too."
Denise took out her gym case and ribbon case to show at Tyler.
"Well, if you can't do decide which one to choose, you can choose to do both if you want."Denise complemented.
"Whoa, awesome..."Tyler said looking at Denise's gym badges and ribbons.
"Hey Tyler, how would you like to meet my pokemon now?"Ash asked.
"Ours too."Dawn and Denise said in unison.
"Me three?"Brock added while standing up.
"Would I?"Tyler asked happily.
The Next Morning...
The heroes and Tyler rose up from their slumber.
"Tyler, today that Yanma is going to be yours."Ash admitted.
"Alright!"Tyler responded.
"Piplup pip!"Pippy cheered.
"It's finally done."Brock stated.
"What's done?"Dawn asked.
"What better way to attract that Yanma by mixing the kind of fruit it loves in this pokemon food."Brock explained holding a pokemon food bowl.
"Wow, Brock."Tyler answered. "That's a great idea."
"Well now let's go find that Yanma."Denise stated.
A Moment After...
The group went to find another Yanma.
When a wild Yanma showed up, it started eating Brock's pokemon food.
Then Tyler chose to capture it.
"Now Pippy use Peck!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy hit the wild Yanma with Peck.
"Now Tyler throw your pokeball."Ash commented.
"Right."Tyler agreed and took out a pokeball.
Team Rocket stepped in front of the Yanma.
"Hold it, twerps!"Jessie demanded.
"Come on!"Ash said angrily. "Not you guys again!"
"That's denial, Yanma, let's go!"Jessie stated.
"When it comes to Yanma, life is better when they appear."Meowth said with a smirk.
"As if!"Denise scoffed angrily.
"You wouldn't pull another trick like that!"Ash replied with a frown.
"Tyler deserves that Yanma, and that's what's going to happen."Dawn added with a glare.
"Chimchar, I choose you!"Ash said.
His pokeball opened causing Chimchar to appear.
"Chimchar!"
"Kirlia, come join the party!"Denise commented.
Her pokeball opened causing Kirlia to appear.
"Kirlia!"
"Now Yanma use Wing Attack!"Jessie ordered.
"Dodge it, Chimchar!"Ash ordered.
"You too, Kirlia!"Denise ordered.
Chimchar and Kirlia dodged the flying attack.
"Use Flamethrower!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar fired Flamethrower at Yanma.
"What are you twerps doing, flaming our gorgeous new figure when it came straight from the boss!?"Meowth shouted.
"If that sort of insanity that needs to be paid, it's done!"James snapped.
"You best be prepared to dig deep!"Jessie growled.
"Because I'm digging deep too!"Meowth stated and made his nails grow sharp. "Feast on my Fury Swipes!"
"I don't think so!"Denise responded with a glare. "Let him have it, Kirlia!"
Kirlia moved forward as one of her hands glowed blue and punched Meowth hard on the face, sending the normal type crushing to the ground.
"Whoa, was that Ice Punch?"Ash asked in astonishment.
"Me and Kirlia have been doing some special training."Denise replied proudly.
"Carnivine, action!"James called out.
Carnivine came out and started biting his trainer on the head.
"One head hugging pokemon is enough!"James complained. "Use Bullet Seed!"
Carnivine fired Bullet Seed at Chimchar and Kirlia.
"Alright Yanma use Sonic Boom!"Jessie ordered.
Yanma fired Sonic Boom with its wings.
"Spin and dodge!"Ash and Denise ordered in unison.
Chimchar and Kirlia spun and dodged the attacks together.
"Use Flame Wheel!"Ash ordered.
"Use Magical Leaf!"Denise ordered.
Chimchar used Flame Wheel on Yanma while Kirlia did a ballerina spin to send Magical Leaf at Carnivine.
"Oh no!"Jessie panicked. "It's inproper to grill someone's gift!"
Yanma suddenly started doing a different attack.
"Yanma is using Ancient Power!"Brock stated.
Yanma fired Ancient Power at Chimchar, but Kirlia quickly grabbed the fire type before the attack could hit him.
Suddenly Yanma started glowing in a white colour.
"Uh, excuse me?"Jessie asked.
"I think Yanma is starting to evolve."Meowth replied.
The glowing stopped revealing a new pokemon.
"Yanmega!"
"Let's see...why that's a Yanmega."James admitted looking at the pokemon cards.
"Joy!"Jessie giggled.
"Yanmega?"Ash asked in confusion.
Dawn took out her pokedex.
"Yanmega the Ogre Darner Pokemon."Dawn's Pokedex said. "When it flutters its wings, it creates a shockwave that can cause internal damage to its opponents."
"Right Yanmega, let's try Sonic Boom!"Jessie ordered.
Yanmega fired Sonic Boom at Chimchar and Kirlia, sending them back.
"Chimchar!"Ash shouted.
"Kirlia!"Denise said worriedly.
Yanmega shoots several more Sonic Booms at the group knocking them all off their feet.
Team Rocket get happy that they beat the twerps.
"Smack down!"Meowth chuckled.
Then the wild Yanma gets up and flew away.
"Let's roll!"Jessie ordered.
"Right!"James agreed.
Team Rocket set off in their submarine to go after the Yanma.
"Since when did Team Rocket become so good?"Dawn groaned.
"Well, who knew?"Brock asked.
Tyler sighed. "Oh man...I goofed it up again."
"Hey, it wasn't your fault."Denise assured. "Those creeps are to blame."
Brock sets out the pokemon food again and another Yanma takes the bait as the heroes watched from the bushes.
"It worked."Tyler whispered.
"Brock's Yanma food is working like a charm."Dawn commented.
"Now's your chance, Tyler."Ash reminded.
"Alright."Tyler responded.
Pippy comes out of the bushes.
"Pippy, Pound now!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy attacked Yanma with Pound.
"Yeah that's the way!"Ash complemented.
But then Team Rocket appeared in their submarine.
"Hi!"Meowth greeted.
"Not to rain on your pathetic parade, but that Yanma has the boss' name on it."Jessie remarked. "Go be losers somewhere else."
"I had enough!"Ash stated. "Buizel!"
His pokeball opened and Buizel came out.
"Yanmega, treat those twerps with your Ancient Power!"Jessie ordered.
Yanmega fired Ancient Power at Buizel.
"Dodge it, Buizel!"Ash ordered.
Buizel dodged and used Aqua Jet to hit Yanmega.
"The boss' gift will shrink!"Meowth panicked.
"Okay, Buizel use Sonic Boom!"Ash ordered.
Buizel used Sonic Boom and Yanmega gets thrown back.
"If Yanmega's not on the press, I'll sue!"Jessie complained.
"You're not stopping Tyler again!"Ash admitted. "Alright, Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu fired Team Rocket to sent blasting off.
"Say, we could e-mail a picture shot of Yanmega to the boss to let him know that it's evolved you know?"Jessie asked.
"Yeah."Meowth responded. "That would already kick up our already first class credientials that would hit him up a notch for another trade."
"Though we all are blasting off."James reminded.
The three bad guys hugged Yanmega.
"One with Yanmega!"Team Rocket cheered. "IT'S A REAL BLAST!"
Then Team Rocket disappeared in the sky.
"Looks like they won't bother us for a while."Ash commented. "You ready, Tyler?"
"Sure am."Tyler answered and looked at Pippy. "Let's go, Pippy."
Pippy stood in a fighting stance.
"Alright, Pippy use Bubble, quick!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy fired Bubble, Yanma dodged and used Wing Attack.
"Dodge, Pippy!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy dodged and Yanma goes over the lake.
Pippy dived into the lake and swims to gain on Yanma.
"Look at that."Dawn said with a smile. "That's even faster than when Piplup's in the water."
"Pippy use Peck!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy launched out of the water to use Peck and hits Yanma.
"Wow, way to go!"Brock admitted.
Yanma fired Sonic Boom at Pippy.
"Now Pippy, dive!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy ducked under the water to dodge.
"Whoa!"Denise laughed.
"Quick Pippy use Bubble!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy surfaces and used Bubble which hits Yanma directly as it struggled to escape by flying to shore.
"It's working!"Ash admitted. "Great!"
"Alright then Pippy use Peck!"Tyler ordered.
Pippy launched for one more Peck and just having reached the lakeside, Yanma falls to the ground.
"Great!"Ash replied. "Now throw your pokeball quick!"
"Right!"Tyler answered. "Okay, go pokeball!"
Tyler threw a pokeball but Yanma pops out.
"Tyler, one more time!"Ash encouraged.
"Right!"Tyler answered and looked at Pippy. "Now Pippy use Peck one more!"
Pippy used Peck at Yanma, who dropped on the floor.
"Throw it!"Ash ordered.
"Right and this time is the keeper!"Tyler said and threw the pokeball.
He throws the pokeball again and this time Yanma got caught.
Tyler let out a happy gasp.
"You did it, Tyler!"Ash chuckled.
Dawn, Denise and Brock smiled in approval.
"Yes!"Tyler cheered and placed the pokeball up high. "I just caught a Yanma!"
Pippy cheered in victory.
"Wow, your fast catch."Denise said.
"Congratulations Tyler."Brock stated.
"That was such a great battle."Dawn complemented.
"Thanks to you, Pippy."Tyler responded. "You give it your all."
Piplup congratulated Pippy, who did a happy dance.
"And I will take good care of Yanma for sure."Tyler assured.
The four heroes smiled and nodded at the trainer's response.
A While Later...
When the sun was setting, it was time for Tyler to separate from the heroes.
"I'm heading over to Lake Valor."Tyler admitted.
"You take care of yourself."Ash responded.
Brock walked forward and handed a bag to Tyler.
"Here's a little something for the trip."Brock said.
"Wow, thanks!"Tyler answered. "That's so nice."
"Sure thing, Tyler."Brock said.
"Good luck with your gym battles, Ash and Denise."Tyler said.
"Hey, thanks."Ash replied.
"That's sweet."Denise answered.
Tyler looked at Dawn.
"And good luck at winning your next contest ribbons."He commented.
"Thank you."Dawn thanked.
"I really think you should get some buddies to travel with you."Ash suggested. "Know what I mean?"
Tyler smiled. "Yeah and find a cook like Brock does."
"That sounds like a plan."Dawn agreed.
Then Ash and his friends wave Tyler good-bye as they continued on to Pastoria City.
