Chapter 83: A Christmas Special!
It was a snowy day at Alamos Town.
People in town were preparing for what was probably the biggest holiday of the year.
Ash and Denise gave money to a man dressed up as Santa Claus, who was holding a bucket that contained some money in it.
Ash wore a blue coat while Denise wore a dark red coat with fluffy white trim worn with her usual clothes and a dark red hat with a large fluffy white pom and a white brim on her head.
"Here you go, Santa."Ash commented.
"Much applied, you kids are just fine."the santa man chuckled.
"So which shop do you want to head first?"Ash asked.
"Well, I was thinking to-"Denise started.
"Look out!"Ash shouted.
Ash moved Denise out of the way as a limo rode by and stopped on the road.
Then two girls came out of the limo.
The first girl had dark pink hair that were tied in two long pigtails and red ruby eyes. She wore a white shirt with a large blue rose and green leaves painted in the lower left corner. She also wore a violet leggings and shiny red slip-on shoes.
The second girl had short orange hair and turquoise blue eyes. She wore short indigo overalls with thin straps in the back. She also wore white pale blue sneakers with magenta socks.
"Well look who it is, Mary-Kate and Courtney."Denise retorted bitterly.
"You know them?"Ash asked.
"They are Amy's best friends."Denise responded with a frown. "Let's walk quickly."
"Hey Neecy!"
Denise gritted her teeth as Mary-Kate and Courtney walked forward to her and Ash.
"My, it's so nice to see you after so long."Courtney chuckled.
"Now that I think about it, it was in kindergarten when we last saw you."Mary-Kate sneered.
"Yes and I assume you two are here to bother me?"Denise questioned.
"Oh no, the total opposite."Mary-Kate responded with a smile. "We're doing some shopping for ourselves."
"Shopping for Amy?"Ash asked.
"Not a surprise."Denise muttered.
Mary-Kate and Courtney looked at Ash.
"Oh, you must be Ash Ketchum."Courtney remarked. "Amy told us about you. Your were one of the guys travelling with Neecy."
"He is currently someone I wouldn't choose for a boyfriend."Mary-Kate commented smugly.
"Same with me, MK."Courtney giggled evilly.
Ash sweat dropped while Denise's face turned red in anger.
"Shut your rude mouths!"Denise snapped.
"Well have fun with your lower rate boyfriend, Neecy."Mary-Kate admitted.
"And be careful of the slippery slopes."Courtney joked.
Mary-Kate and Courtney walked away while laughing as Denise glared at them in pure rage.
A While Later...
Ash and Denise arrived in front of a house while carrying a bunch of sacks.
"So what is this place?"Ash asked.
"Don't worry, Ash."Denise assured and rang on the doorbell. "You will find out."
Then the door opened revealing a small group of kids.
"Hello, everyone."Denise greeted.
"Denise!"A brown haired boy named John said happily.
"Merry Christmas, Denise."A strawberry blonde haired girl named Sarah admitted.
"Merry Christmas."A girl with green haired ponytails named Tiffany commented.
"Merry Christmas, everybody."Denise replied kindly.
Then the kids moved away revealing a six year old boy with platinum blonde hair and hazel eyes on a wheelchair.
"Hello, Ben."Denise greeted.
"Merry Christmas, Denise."Ben remarked.
Denise carefully gives a warm hug to Ben, who hugged her back.
"Would you hug me, Denise?"Sarah asked.
"I want a hug, too."John added.
"All right."Denise chuckled. "Big group hug."
The kids giggled as they did a big hug with Denise.
"Everyone, this is my friend, Ash Ketchum."Denise introduced and looked at Ash. "Ash, these are the kids I was telling you about."
"Nice to meet you, Ash Ketchum!"the children said in unison.
"Hi."Ash greeted with a smile.
"Now is everyone ready for your Christmas carol costumes?"Denise asked as she stood up.
The kids gasped in amazement as Denise revealed a lovely green dress and a red suit from her bag.
"Yay!"Sarah cheered. "Hurray!"
"I love mine."John chuckled.
"Are there any more?"Ben asked.
"Oh, don't worry."Denise assured and took out a few more clothes from the bag. "I have one for everybody."
"Denise, did you get to tell Amy about us?"Tiffany asked with a smile.
"Will she come see our show?"Sarah asked.
"Will she, Denise?"Michael asked hopefully. "Will she?"
"I did tell Amy about you."Denise responded with a smile. "And she wanted me to tell you that she's very sorry she can't come, but she's so proud of all of you. And she personally wishes each of you a Merry Christmas."
"Hear that?"John said proudly. "Amy wishes me a Merry Christmas."
"It must be so amazing to see her perform on contests."Sarah complemented.
"It is really nice to see you after so long."Tiffany giggled.
"Yes."Denise replied. "But I am not here to just say hello."
"Then why have you come here?"Sarah asked in confusion.
"Because I came here to hear you sing."Denise replied. "Now, come on, everyone. People will be here soon. Time to put on your costumes and get ready for the show."
"Yeah, let's go!"Michael laughed.
The young kids cheered as they went back inside their home to put on their costumes.
"Denise, why did you to tell them Amy is proud of them?"Ash asked.
"These children seem to idolise Amy."Denise commented. "I didn't want to tell them how spoiled and rude Amy actually is."
Inside Alice's House...
Kirlia, Staravia, Drifloon and Hoothoot were putting christmas decorations in the living room.
"I can believe Amy assigned her own friends to buy stuff she wanted for Christmas."Leona scoffed.
"She's just a spoiled brat, who is greedy and jealous."Lucas commented. "And she doesn't care who she steps on to get her what she wants."
"That's true."Leona agreed.
Lucas held the star up to the tree.
"Like this?"Lucas asked.
"No!"Leona replied. "Move it more to the right!"
"Like this?"Lucas repeated moving the star to the other side.
Leona face palmed and groaned. "Can't you center it correctly? Is it that hard to do?"
"I can't tell!"Lucas reminded as he went down the ladder. "The branches are in my face."
"I'll do it."Leona sighed.
Leona reached the top of the ladder and set the star on the appropriate place.
"That's more like it."Leona chuckled.
"Ash and Denise should be back here soon."Alice said as she walked forward."So you should make sure you put enough chairs out."
Leona nodded and heaved the ladder up.
"Sure, I'll do that once I put this old thing away."Leona commented as she headed out of the house and into the garage to prop the ladder against the wall.
She clapped her hands to knock the dirt from them and put her hands on her hips.
"Well, I need to hurry before the guests arrive to finish up decorating for the Christmas party."Leona said.
Leona went back into the house and looked into the kitchen to see Dawn making a floury mess while Brock was stirring his homemade soup.
"Dawn!"Leona said. "What happened?"
"Well, I tried to make the Christmas cookies the way Denise makes them, but I sort of ended up making a mess."Dawn said sheepishly.
"Piplup."Piplup sighed.
"Bun."Buneary mumbled.
Lucas came by holding a tray of pumpkin pie, hot cocoa and cookies with Pikachu on his shoulder.
"Anyone hungry?"Lucas asked.
"Aw thank you, Lucas."Dawn giggled and ate a cookie.
Pikachu, Piplup, Buneary, Pachirisu and Ambipom started eating the cookies together.
"Is Denise arriving soon?"Lucas asked.
"Just as I suspected! You still have a crush on Neecy! The way you were looking at the picture of the school play you two performed together."Leona said smugly. "And judging by the looks of it, it seemed you had a crush on her even before you two even kissed at the school play, didn't you?"
"It's not like that at all."Lucas responded shyly. "It's just that she and Ash should be here by now."
"No need to worry, Lucas."Dawn assured. "Ash and Denise should be here real soon."
"Beside there are still more time left before sunset."Brock stated.
In the Streets...
Ash, Denise stood watching with Tonio and a bunch of other people seeing the children singing 'Joy to the world.'
"Thank you."Tonio admitted. "Thank you for this."
"Hey, it's the least I can do."Denise remarked. "Have you heard any more about the possible closing?"
"Only rumours."Tonio responded. "But they don't sound good. We can only wait and hope."
Ash and Denise looked at each other with a hint of sadness.
"Joy to the world~"
The people cheered and clapped at the children.
"Wonderful!"
"Bravo!"
"Sport on!"
Denise walked forward and handed a box of christmas ornament shaped cookies.
"Here you go, guys."Denise said kindly. "Something for all of you to enjoy eating as a treat."
The children looked at the cookies in amazement.
Tiffany gasped. "Oh look the ornaments!"
"They're tree cookies!"Ben chuckled.
"Thank you, Denise and Ash!"the children answered happily. "Merry Christmas!"
Ash and Denise smiled before walking away from the children.
"It's getting late, we should head back to Alice's place."Ash suggested.
"Yeah..."Denise agreed and gasped when she saw a photo booth. "Oh can we take some pictures together before we go back?"
Ash sweat dropped. "Okay, Dennie."
In the Photo Booth...
"Here goes nothing."Ash commented.
Ash inserted a coin into the photo machine.
On the first camera click, he and Denise smile at the camera.
On the second click, Ash looked over at Denise.
On the third click, Denise looked back at Ash.
Ash and Denise closed their eyes as they brought their faces closer to each other.
There was a fourth click heard in the background but the screen turns black so it doesn't show what happened.
The screen turns clear again as Ash and Denise blushed while staring at each other in shock.
"Uhhhh..."Ash and Denise said in unison.
Then colourful confetti dropped above them.
"Congratulations for the new couple!"the photo booth announced."Have a Merry Christmas!"
"I am sorry."Ash murmured.
"It's okay, Ash."Denise assured with a shy smile. "At least it can't get more awkward."
Suddenly the photo booth shook causing Ash to fall on Denise.
The duo look at each other and quickly left the photo booth.
In Alice's House...
Chimchar and Alice's Chimchar put on fire on the logs that lied on the fireplace.
Luxio lied down to relax next to the warm fire with some of his friends.
"Man that turkey was delicious!"Ash commented.
"It was very yummy, Alice."Leona stated.
"Your very welcome."Alice replied. "Now I am going to need help with the dishes."
"I will gladly help you, dear Alice!"Brock flirted. "And maybe then we can-"
Croagunk poison jabbed Brock and dragged him away.
Ash, Dawn, Denise, Alice, Tonio, Leona, Lucas and their pokemon laughed at the sight.
A moment after, everyone were opening their presents.
Denise notice one package left under the Christmas tree.
It was labeled for her, so Denise opened it to find a beautiful gold heart necklace for her to wear.
Denise smiled and looked at Ash, who was busy talking to Brock and Lucas.
"So what was your favourite part of today's Christmas, Dennie?"Dawn asked.
"Oh um...this Christmas day has been an interesting one."Denise remarked and blushed."But from now on I will stay away from a photo booth at all times."
Dawn stared at her twin sister in confusion while Vaporeon snickered quietly.
In the Streets...
The photo reel of Ash and Denise kissing was left behind in the photo booth's printer.
Then a figure's hand picked it up before leaving.
