It's weird, watching Mike's more vicious side come out. Yes, AJ knows he has one- has seen him use it a handful of times over the years. Against Ziggler, Shane, Morrison a time or two. But for him to successfully use it against someone like Tommaso Ciampa, who has had his own long list of physical altercations with various wrestlers and generally come out on top, she's a little in awe, and a little concerned.
Of course she's relieved that so far Mike is walking away victorious from these fights, but it still makes her wonder where he's at mentally, that he's able to shut off his compassion and consideration and go to such a dark place. Tapping her fingers against her phone, she bites her lip and mulls things over before finally dialing #9.
Three rings in, Morrison answers and she exhales slowly, relieved that he was available. "Hey."
"Hey," she says. "Um, do you have time to talk?"
"For you? Always," he responds. "Is, uh, this about Mike? I just finished watching his match against Ciampa. I can imagine you have concerns."
"You know me too well," AJ says dryly. "I just... don't know where his head's at right now. And I think with me so busy between the kids in school, and working on my various projects, he doesn't want to weigh me down with more."
"But he might be willing to unload a little on his best friend," Morrison says. "Right?"
"Yes," AJ says simply. "Do you think so too?"
"It's likely," John says. "Look, it won't be right away, Mike needs to fly home, and he'll want to spend a day getting caught up with you and the kids, then I have AEW stuff to take care of. How about this weekend? Does that sound ok? I'll get ahold of him, we'll set something up, I'll see where his head's at."
AJ nods. "Yes, that sounds perfect. Please, John."
"I'll do it, just... try to relax," Morrison tells her. "I know you're worried, I have a few things I'm curious about myself, but I'm sure he'll snap out of it, he always does after awhile."
"Yeah." AJ exhales. "Yeah. I'll hold on to that. I just... worry about him, sometimes. He keeps himself so busy, I would hate to miss something that I could help him with, you know."
"Oh, I definitely get it. But you try to relax, and I'll make sure everything's fine in a few days."
AJ closes her eyes, nodding slowly. "Thank you so much, John."
She says a quick goodbye and hangs up, biting her lip as she stares out of the window, watching as the sky slowly darkens. She just hopes that waiting that long isn't a mistake, that whatever's going on with Mike will be easily managed.
