Chapter 94: Doc Brock!

Outside a Cabin...

Dawn practiced contest moves with Buneary while Ash and Pikachu sat down watching them.

"Now Buneary jump and use Ice Beam!"Dawn ordered.

Buneary jumped and fired Ice Beam at a tree, making it look sparkly and beautiful.

"Good work, Buneary."Dawn remarked with a smile. "That Celestic Ribbon is going to be ours real soon."

"Bun buneary!"Buneary replied with a nod.

"Wow, those two are super psyched."Ash commented.

"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.

"But we gotta keep up with a way to keep Fantina's attacks from getting in there."Ash said.

Pikachu nodded. "Pika."

"Then what do you think we should do about it?"Ash asked.

"Pikachu pika."Pikachu responded with a troubled look.

Pikachu notice Ash has fallen asleep causing him to sweat drop.

The Mouse Pokemon shook Ash to wake him up.

"I guess I shouldn't be nodding off while I try to think off to stay awake, huh?"Ash asked with a awkward smile.

"Pikachu."Pikachu mumbled with a shrug.

Then the cabin door opened and Brock came out.

"Hey Brock."Ash greeted. "So where are you headed?"

"You don't know?"Brock asked. "Didn't I tell you yesterday?"

"Brock's on his way to buy some medicine for our pokemon."Dawn said.

"Right."Brock agreed with a smile. "I've heard there is a pharmacy in the base of the mountain. It's a good time to stack up."

"Oh yeah."Ash remarked and placed his fists together. "Good thinking, Brock."

"So for now I need you two guys and Denise to hold down the fort while I'm gone."Brock instructed.

"Okay."Ash answered.

Dawn nodded in agreement.

"Alright, come on out!"Brock ordered.

Brock's pokeballs opened causing Happiny, Sudowoodo and Croagunk to come out.

"I hope you will be able to look after my pokemon too."Brock said.

"You can count on us."Ash assured.

"I went ahead and wrote everything down you need to know."Brock stated.

"Got it, Brock."Dawn replied.

Brock then began walking away from the cabin.

"Have a nice trip!"Ash and Dawn said in unison.

"Good-bye!"Brock responded.

Then the cabin door opened revealing a tired Denise.

"Hi everyone."Denise greeted with a yawn.

"Hey Dennie."Dawn replied. "Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, just over slept again."Denise said and rubbed her eyes. "But I'm totally fine."

Inside the Cabin...

Ash reads the list of chores and first up are showers for the pokemon.

"So what does it say?"Dawn asked.

"First we have to give the pokemon a shower."Ash replied.

"Sounds fun."Dawn complemented.

Ash and Denise took out their pokeballs.

"Okay, out everybody!"Ash ordered.

"That goes for you guys too!"Denise chuckled.

Ash's pokeballs opened causing Chimchar, Buizel, Gliscor, Staravia and Turtwig to appear along with Grotle, Vaporeon, Luxio, Kirlia, Hoothoot and Drifloon.

"Okay, it's time for a shower!"Ash announced.

All the pokemon cheered in joy and lined up outside the bathroom.

Ash washed Turtwig in the bathtub and Dawn dried the grass type pokemon with a towel.

Denise used her Sprayduck to wash Grotle and the two bush-like trees growing around his outermost ridges.

"Okay Turtwig and Grotle, you're all set."Ash stated.

"Turtwig."Turtwig replied.

"Grotle."Grotle remarked.

"And watch out for any dirt."Denise instructed.

Turtwig and Grotle walked out of the bathroom before Piplup came up to the doorway.

"Alright Piplup, you're up next."Dawn said.

"Pip Piplup!"Piplup said in joy.

Piplup went into the bathtub and Ash started washing him.

"When I'm done with you, you'll be sparkling clean."Ash admitted.

When Ash finished washing Piplup, Dawn dried her starter pokemon with a towel.

"Hey, we got this down to a science."Dawn commented.

Then a burning smell earned the three trainers attention.

"What's burning?"Ash asked.

"Uh oh!"Denise panicked and rushed out of the bathroom. "I left my acorns boiling for too long!"

Pachirisu appeared in the doorway.

"Okay Pachirisu, your bathing next."Dawn stated with a smile.

Pachirisu chirped happily and went to the bathtub.

"I'll clean you, slickety spick."Ash assured.

Ash accidentally sprayed Pachirisu with cool water causing the elesquirrel pokemon to shiver.

"It's too cold!"Ash said.

Ash quickly turns on the warm water to wash Pachirisu.

"Man...that must've been too cold, sorry about that."Ash apologised with a sheepish smile.

Pachirisu frowned at Ash.

"What happened?"Dawn asked.

"I kind of sprayed Pachirisu with cold water."Ash admitted.

"Come on Ash, be careful."Dawn instructed with a frown and smiled at Buneary. "Now it's you, Buneary. Let's make sure this doesn't get wet."

Dawn removed the orange vest that Buneary wore before the rabbit pokemon went to the bathtub to get washed.

In the Kitchen...

Denise threw the burned acorns in the bin.

"Great."Denise muttered in disproval. "I have to start all over now."

Denise went to the sink to wash a bunch of hazelnuts in a bowl.

When Denise began chopping the hazelnuts, she started having a vision of the shadow pokemon and the three spirits she saw before.

Denise shook her head and rubbed her forehead.

"Why am I seeing this all the sudden?"Denise thought in concern.

Then the door opened causing Denise to quickly focus back on chopping the hazelnuts as Dawn and Pikachu came in the kitchen.

"Hey Dennie, watcha doing?"Dawn asked.

"I planned to use some acorns to make baked acorn squash with brown sugar but now I am just going to make simple hazelnut pancakes."Denise explained.

"Great."Dawn remarked. "Since now is lunch time, I was planning to make a batch of pancakes for everyone too."

"Seriously?"Denise questioned. "You want to cook?"

"Hey, I learned by watching you and Brock, no need to worry."Dawn assured.

"Pikachu."Pikachu agreed.

"Fine."Denise answered. "You both can help."

Then Dawn, Denise and Pikachu began making pancakes together.

Pikachu mixed the ingredients while Dawn and Denise finished doing the first batch of pancakes.

"Are you done over there, Pikachu?"Denise asked.

"Pikachu."Pikachu responded with a nod.

"Let's see."Dawn suggested and tasted the batter. "Mmm...perfect great."

Then Dawn, Denise and Pikachu came out of the kitchen with a batch of pancakes.

"Alright, lunch is ready!"Dawn announced. "Come and get them while they're hot!"

"You gonna love them."Denise assured with a gentle smile.

Ash, Dawn, Denise and the pokemon started eating the pancakes.

"Your right, they're delicious."Ash mumbled before eating another slice of his hazelnut flavoured pancake.

Pachirisu showed it's empty plate to Dawn.

"You want more, Pachirisu?"Dawn asked.

Pachirisu nodded with a smile.

Denise smiled to see her sister, her crush and their pokemon enjoying the pancakes.

But when she looked down, a troubled look grew on her face when she remembered the strange dream she has been having recently.

Afterwards...

The pokemon were looking relaxing outside the cabin while Ash, Dawn and Denise remained in.

"Okay, it's time to think about how to deal with Fantina's attacks once and for all."Ash stated with his arms folded.

Not long after, Ash had fallen asleep in the sofa.

Denise used her hand to flick Ash's forehead causing him to wake up.

"Ow!"Ash groaned and rubbed his forehead.

"Hey, no sleeping on the job if you want to get your fifth gym badge."Denise reminded.

"Oh, right."Ash said with awkward smile. "I guess I shouldn't be snoozing when I should try to keep my pokemon awake..."

Then Pikachu came inside the cabin.

"Pika pika!"Pikachu said worriedly.

"Pikachu, what's wrong?"Ash asked.

Ash, Dawn and Denise rushed outside with Pikachu and saw Pachirisu was not feeling well.

"What's wrong with Pachirisu?"Dawn asked.

Ash placed his hand on Pachirisu's head.

"That's pretty hot."Ash stated.

"A fever."Dawn whispered as she picked Pachirisu up. "Pachirisu."

Pachirisu gives Dawn a weak expression.

The three trainers went back inside the cabin.

Dawn held Pachirisu safely in her arms.

"A pokemon center would make you feel better, but it's going to take a while to get there."Denise admitted.

"So now what are we going to do?"Dawn asked worriedly.

"Oh, I'm so used to having Brock doing this kind of stuff."Ash commented.

"What do we do? This is trouble."Dawn replied while pacing back and forth. "We gotta figure something out and we have to do it quick."

"That's it."Ash stated as he stood up. "We'll get Brock back here, he'll know what to do."

Gliscor went up to Ash.

"Gliscor."Gliscor suggested and pointed at himself.

"Great, go and get Brock."Ash insisted. "Thanks, Staravia."

"Staravia!"Staravia chirped.

Staravia flew off out of the cabin much to Gliscor's disappointment.

Denise tapped Gliscor's head.

"Don't worry, Gliscor."Denise assured. "Once you learned how to land properly, Ash will choose you next time."

"Okay but now what are we going to do when Staravia gets Brock to come back here?"Dawn asked as she paced backward and forward.

"First we gotta get that fever down."Ash responded.

"You're right."Dawn agreed and looked at Buneary. "Buneary use Ice Beam on Pachirisu."

Buneary prepared to use Ice Beam.

"If only that was easy."Dawn admitted.

Buneary lowered her ears down sadly.

Ash and Denise placed blankets on Pachirisu to keep her warm.

"Just hang in there for a little longer."Ash instructed.

"Everything is going to be fine, don't worry."Denise assured.

The other pokemon watched sadly as Pachirisu was groaning in pain.

Buneary gave Dawn her orange vest.

"Bun buneary?"Buneary asked.

"Huh? Give Pachirisu your vest?"Dawn said and smiled. "Oh Buneary, you're such a sweetheart."

Dawn placed the orange vest on Pachirisu's blanket.

"Hm...if we only had some ice."Ash commented and got an idea. "Buneary and Happiny, come with me."

Buneary and Happiny followed Ash outside to make ice in order to bring Pachirisu's fever down.

Outside...

Ash placed a bucket of water down outside.

"We're all set, Buneary."Ash stated. "Use Ice Beam."

"Buneary."Buneary answered with a nod.

Buneary fired Ice Beam on the bucket turning the water into ice.

Ash removed the small chunk of ice from the bucket.

"Your next, Happiny."Ash instructed.

"Happiny!"Happiny giggled.

Happiny used Pound on the ice making it crush into tiny ice cubes.

Inside the Cabin...

Dawn puts the ice on Pachirisu's head.

"Pachirisu, how does that feel?"Dawn asked.

Pachirisu gives a weak reply with a bit of electricity sparking on her cheeks.

Dawn gives Ash a glare.

"Ash! This is all your fault!"Dawn snapped angrily. "Since your the one who showered it with cold water in the first place!"

"But Pachirisu was totally fine afterward."Ash commented.

"Come on, guys."Denise reminded. "This is not the time to-"

"Poor Pachirisu properly had an upset stomach!"Ash argued. "Thanks to the pancakes that you feed it!"

"What!?"Dawn questioned.

"And the poor thing even asked for seconds."Ash said with a smile.

Denise frowned as one of her eyebrow started twitching causing Luxio to get nervous.

"Excuse me, mister smarty pants."Dawn retorted. "Everyone ate the pancakes and only Pachirisu got sick!"

"Well, your not laying this on me!"Ash complained.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!"Denise shouted in anger.

Dawn, Ash and the pokemon winced at Denise's shout.

"It doesn't matter how Pachirisu caught the fever, what's more important that we now help Pachirisu get better."Denise reminded and sighed. "This is not the time to be arguing with each other."

"Your right, Dennie."Dawn replied sadly. "Sorry."

"I'm sorry too."Ash added and rubbed the back of his head.

In the Sky...

Flying in their Meowth balloon, Team Rocket spotted a Zapdos flying past, and they want it.

James fired a Bazooka Gun, but Zapdos flew up.

The wad instead hits Ash's Staravia and Jessie told them they can change their sights to that one instead.

Team Rocket scour the forest carefully for Staravia, who had landed and trying to clean it's stuck wing of the glue.

Back in the Cabin...

Pachirisu's fever wasn't going down which caused Dawn to get more worried.

"The fever is not going down."Dawn said worriedly.

"I'm pretty sure whenever a pokemon gets sick, Brock gives them some sort of berry."Ash admitted. "But I'm not sure what berry it is."

"Pikachu."Pikachu responded.

"You mean oran berries?"Denise asked.

"Right."Ash agreed with a smile. "Let's go and find some oran berries."

Outside...

Ash, Dawn and Denise venture outside to find some oran berries to aid Pachirisu's recovery.

Pikachu, Drifloon, Sudowoodo, Buizel, Happiny and Piplup went to help the three trainers.

"I don't see a thing."Ash commented.

"Yeah, me neither."Dawn responded.

Drifloon and Pikachu notice blue fruits shaped as apples were on one of the trees.

"Pika!"Pikachu called out.

"Drifloon drif!"Drifloon said.

Ash, Dawn, Denise and the other pokemon rushed forward.

Denise picked up one of the berries from the tree.

"Hopefully this berry should do the trick."Denise complemented.

After picking a few fruits, the small group returned back to the cabin.

Ash stood outside with Gliscor next to him.

"What's Staravia up to?"Ash asked.

"Gliscor."Gliscor requested.

"Wow, you wanna help us find Brock too?"Ash said.

Gliscor nodded. "Gliscor."

Ash, Dawn and Denise brought Gliscor to a high hill near the cabin.

"Have a safe flight."Dawn remarked.

Gliscor took off in the sky.

"Gliscor to the right!"Ash protested. "To the right!"

Gliscor slammed into a tree on his head.

"Gliscor, oh no."Dawn said worriedly.

"Still needs to work on his flying."Denise replied.

"Gliscor, come on!"Ash demanded. "You gotta calm down!"

Gliscor began flying carefully to head to Brock's location.

Then the three trainers returned to the cabin to check on Pachirisu.

Dawn wiped Pachirisu's head with a towel, but it still didn't cool down the fever.

"We need another blanket."Dawn stated.

"Right."Ash agreed.

Turtwig and Grotle brought more blankets for Pachirisu.

"That's great, thanks Grotle and Turtwig."Ash said with a smile.

Croagunk croaked as he brought a blue towel.

Outside...

Brock was heading his way back to the cabin after getting the supplies he needed.

"Yes sir, we are stocked."Brock admitted proudly. "One thing for sure, we don't have to worry about medicine for a while."

"Gliscor!"

Brock notice Gliscor heading towards where he was standing and the fang scorpion pokemon crash landed where the breeder.

"Your really heavy."Brock muttered in pain.

"Gliscor."Gliscor remarked.

"Your Ash's Gliscor."Brock said. "What's up?"

"Gliscor gli gliscor!"Gliscor explained.

"Uh..."Brock started in confusion and realised something. "They're in trouble?!"

"Gliscor gli."Gliscor responded with a nod. "Gliscor."

"Then we gotta get home and fast."Brock stated firmly.

Brock and Gliscor started heading back to the cabin, only for Gliscor to drop in the ground in exhaustion.

"I forgot you can't fly in the sky unless the wind is in your back."Brock commented. "Okay, hop on my back."

"Gli."Gliscor answered in relief.

"Just do it."Brock instructed. "Hurry."

Gliscor hopped on Brock's back.

"Your much more heavier in my back as you are in my front."Brock grumbled.

Brock began to walk with Gliscor on his back, but ended dropping on the ground.

"Gliscor."Gliscor cried.

"Looks like I should go on my own."Brock said as he stood up. "See ya!"

Brock took off leaving Gliscor on his own.

Back at the Cabin...

Pachirisu groaned weakly since it's fever wasn't going down as Dawn, Denise and Ash watched.

"We've got to do something to get Pachirisu to eat but what?"Dawn asked.

"I know."Denise replied. "We could use the fruits we found to make something soft for Pachirisu to eat."

"Oh yeah, when we were little, I remember mum used to feed me mashed fruit when I was sick."Dawn said and smiled. "It tasted so good."

Dawn and Denise went to peel the fruits they found outside and then smashed them.

The two sisters then put the smashed fruits in a small bowl.

"Here, Pachirisu."Dawn requested.

Pachirisu looked away from the smash fruit.

"Uh oh."Ash whispered.

Then the door of the cabin opened and Brock showed up.

"Hey, what happened?"Brock asked.

"Brock, we gotta big problem."Ash replied.

"Pachirisu is running a fever."Dawn stated.

"Oh no."Brock said and walked forward to touch Pachirisu's forehead. "A high one."

"We put some ice on but it didn't..."Dawn started.

"I know one thing that might help."Brock said and removed the blanket to show Pachirisu's tail. "Watch we need to expose it's tail?"

"I've never heard of that."Dawn admitted.

"Wouldn't medicine help?"Denise asked.

Brock checked on Pachirisu.

"First thing first let's figure out what's wrong."Brock stated.

Pachirisu sparked electricity from it's cheeks.

"I wonder if maybe..."Brock started.

"What, Brock?"Ash asked.

"It's possible that Pachirisu is just having an electricity build up."Dawn said.

"Huh?"Dawn said in confusion.

"It happens from time to time to electric types."Brock responded. "Electricity builds up and causes a high fever."

"Your right."Ash admitted. "That happened before to Pikachu. I remember you were in really bad shape weren't you?"

"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.

"We've got to get that electricity out."Brock insisted.

Brock placed two wires on Pachirisu's tail causing the elesquirrel pokemon to shriek in pain but then calm down and blinked.

"This medicine will help you regulate your pain."Brock stated. "Now down the hatch."

Pachirisu ate the medicine and smiled.

"You'll start getting better right away."Brock assured.

Pachirisu fell asleep as Brock turned to look at Ash, Dawn and Denise.

"When a pokemon gets sick, you've got to stay calm."Brock explained. "They can pick up a trainer's anxiety and in the end it will make things a lot worse."

"I see."Dawn replied with a hint of guilt.

"I guess all we were doing was freak out."Ash commented.

Dawn looked at Pachirisu in shame.

"I'm so sorry, Pachirisu."Dawn sobbed. "I'm an awful trainer."

Denise gives Dawn a hug.

"Hey sis, don't cry."Denise instructed softly. "We all do mistakes, nobody is perfect."

"Right."Dawn said and dried her tears away. "We were trying to get something for Pachirisu to eat by giving it some mashed fruits."

"That comes a little later."Brock stated with a smile. "You feed it an oran berry first."

"We looked for oran berries but no luck."Ash replied.

The heroes headed outside to go to the tree where the blue fruits were.

"This is the place where we were looking for the oran berries."

"You won't find them here."Brock admitted. "This is not the right environment for oran berries to grow."

"Why is that?"Ash questioned.

"The problem is this soil is just too dry for them."Brock responded as he picked some dirt from the ground and looked at the other side. "Let's try over there."

The heroes rushed to a place where they found bushes that contained oran berries.

"Look."Brock remarked and picked a oran berry. "This what we need to feed Pachirisu."

"Brock that's great."Dawn complemented.

Afterwards...

Dawn and Denise had some oran berries sliced and smashed to feed to Pachirisu.

"Alright try this."Dawn suggested.

Dawn feed Pachirisu the oran berry mixer and the electric type became happy.

"Pachirisu is eating."Dawn giggled.

"That's a relief."Denise remarked.

"Awesome."Ash chuckled.

"Pikachu."Pikachu agreed.

Dawn placed her hand on Pachirisu's forehead.

"Pachirisu, your fever has gone."Dawn admitted.

"That oran berry really worked."Ash said with a smile.

"Things should be fine now."Brock stated.

Pachirisu stood up from the sofa and picked up Buneary's orange vest.

"Wow, your feeling that good?"Dawn asked in surprise.

Pachirisu began to run around the sofa.

"Looks like your all better, Pachirisu."Denise commented kindly.

Suddenly a rumbling sound was heard above the cabin, alarming the heroes and their pokemon.

"Whoa, what was that?!"Ash asked in shock.

Suddenly a net grabbed Pachirisu and took it away.

"Pachirisu!"Dawn called out.

The heroes and their pokemon rushed outside the cabin and saw Team Rocket's balloon above the cabin.

"What the heck?!"Denise scowled.

Team Rocket began reciting their motto.

"To see what's going, just look to the sky!"

"Not easy for twerps, but give it a try!"

"On the wind! Eek!"

"Past the stars! Yargh!"

"Hey, I can fly!"

"Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!"

"Dashing hope, putting fear in its place!"

"A rose by any other name is just as sweet!"

"When everything's worse, our work is complete!"

"Jessie!"

"And James!"

"Meowth's the name!"

"Putting the do gooders in their place!"

"We're Team Rocket..."

"In your face!"

"A slight change of plans."Jessie remarked.

"We were banking on bagging Pikachu, but we'll settle for this live wire instead."Meowth commented while holding the net that contained Pachirisu.

Pachirisu cried out in fear.

"What do you mean settle?!"Dawn demanded.

Then Staravia showed up in the scene.

"Staravia."Staravia greeted.

"Staravia, you came back just in time."Ash stated.

Jessie looked at James.

"If you please."Jessie ordered.

"With ease!"James answered and held up the Bazooka Gun. "Repeat the performance of the Bazooka Gun!"

"Quick Staravia, flap your wings to fly it away!"Ash ordered.

Staravia flapped it's wings sending the glue right back at Team Rocket.

"Get this stick off of us!"Team Rocket complained.

"Grotle use Razor Leaf on the net!"Denise ordered.

Grotle send Razor Leaf at the next causing Pachirisu to become free and land on Dawn's arms.

"Pachirisu, are you alright?"Dawn asked.

Pachirisu gave a happy respond and went on the ground.

"But Pachirisu your still recovering, so please why not let the others deal with them?"Dawn asked.

Buneary went next to Pachirisu.

"Now Buneary use Ice Beam!"Dawn ordered.

Buneary fired Ice Beam at Team Rocket causing them to freeze.

"Buneary, nice work!"Dawn remarked. "Now use Dizzy Punch!"

Buneary hit Team Rocket with Dizzy Punch.

Pachirisu spoke to Dawn.

"You really want to battle, huh?"Dawn asked.

Pachirisu nodded in agreement.

"Alright then Pachirisu use Discharge!"Dawn ordered.

Pachirisu fired Discharge at Team Rocket, sending them flying.

"I feel like a bubble gum popsicle."Jessie muttered.

"In a sticky mess!"James added.

"Speak for yourself!"Meowth retorted.

"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN AND STUCK!"Team Rocket screamed as they disappeared in the sky.

Pachirisu giggled and cheered in joy.

"You were great Pachirisu but that's enough for now."Dawn instructed.

"She's right."Ash agreed.

"You just recovered, remember?"Denise reminded.

"Something like this may happen again in the future and you might not have the luxury of locating a pokemon center nearby."Brock warned. "So I think it'd be best if you three learned about first aid. All three of you, just in case."

"Yeah."Ash replied with a nod.

"Brock is right, our pokemon needs us the most when they're sick."Dawn commented and picked up Pachirisu. "Come here, your all that we got."

Pachirisu chirped at it's trainer.

"Alright, who's ready for food?"Brock asked.

"My stomach is making all sorts of noise."Ash joked.

"Mine too."Dawn added.

"Same with mine."Denise remarked.

"Being hungry gives it away all the time."Ash chuckled.

"Great, so let's get on it."Brock insisted.

"Eat right and healthy, we'll never lose."Dawn complemented.

Pachirisu giggled in agreement.

Brock, Ash, Dawn, Denise headed back inside the cabin.

Just when the group went in, Ash remembered something.

"We forgot Gliscor!"Ash admitted in shock.

Brock, Dawn and Denise sweat dropped at their mistake.

Meanwhile...

Far away and close to tears, Gliscor continued his slow and lumbering journey back to the cabin.
