Pokemon: Friends to the End
Chapter 97: Double Team Turnover!
Ash, Dawn, Denise and Cynthia battle Saturn and Mars in the Celestic Town Historical Research Center.
"I don't care who you are, Team Galactic!"Cynthia stated. "You're not getting a thing! Gastrodon, come forth from the seas!"
Cynthia's pokeball opened and Gastrodon appeared in the battlefield.
"Gastrodon!"
"Gastrodon use Stone Edge now!"Cynthia ordered.
Gastrodon used Stone Edge to easily defeat the multiple Golbat sent out by Team Galactic.
"Whoa..."Denise said.
"Check it out."Ash commented.
Dawn took out her pokedex.
"Gastrodon the Sea Slug Pokemon and the evolved form of Shellos."Dawn's Pokedex stated. "Gastrodon inhabits the shallow tidal pools of the ocean and it's sturdy shell serves to protect it's body."
"Well now that was pathetic."Professor Carolina admitted and glared at Mars. "Now get out of the way before we move you out!"
"I really don't like to be showing off, but I guess we have no choice."Saturn replied. "The burden of great power."
Toxicroak let out a croak.
"Oh please, well I'm just fine with showing off."Cynthia answered.
Garchomp and Gastrodon yelled out in agreement.
"We're behind you all the way!"Ash assured. "Let's go, Chimchar!"
Ash's pokeball opened and Chimchar appeared.
"Chimchar!"
Pikachu and Luxio went next to Chimchar.
"Okay Vaporeon, come out and help!"Denise instructed.
Denise's pokeball opened and Vaporeon appeared next to Luxio.
"Vaporeon!"
"Pachirisu!"Dawn said. "We need you too!"
The pokeball opened and Pachirisu appeared next to Piplup.
"Purugly, come out and use Shadow Ball!"Mars ordered.
Purugly appeared and fired Shadow Ball.
"Toxicroak, Dark Pulse!"Saturn ordered.
Toxicroak used Dark Pulse.
"Alright, Pikachu use Thunderbolt and Chimchar, Flamethrower now!"Ash ordered.
Pikachu fired Thunderbolt and Chimchar used Flamethrower to counter with Purugly's Shadow Ball and Toxicroak's Dark Pulse.
The Golbats shot out Air Cutter.
"Luxio use Spark and Vaporeon use Aurora Beam!"Denise ordered.
"Quick, Piplup use Bubble Beam and Pachirisu use Discharge!"Dawn ordered.
Luxio, Vaporeon, Piplup and Pachirisu fired their attacks at some of the Golbats.
The other Golbats used Air Cutter as well.
"Garchomp, Dragon Claw and Gastrodon, Muddy Water!"Cynthia ordered.
Garchomp and Gastrodon fired their attacks to get rid of the Air Cutters.
The attacks from the pokemon caused a big smoke screen in the area.
"I'm going to break through all of this."Ash stated. "Dawn, Dennie, cover me!"
Dawn nodded. "Alright, Ash."
"Understood."Denise responded.
"Piplup and Pachirisu, attack together!"Dawn ordered.
Piplup and Pachirisu attacked causing them to damage most of the Golbats.
"Purugly use Fury Swipes!"Mars ordered. "Bronzor use Gyro Ball!"
Purugly and Bronzor charged forward with their attacks.
"Luxio use Night Slash!"Denise ordered. "Vaporeon use Water Gun!"
Luxio attacked Bronzor while Vaporeon used Water Gun on Purugly.
"Pikachu use Volt Tackle!"Ash ordered.
Pikachu charged towards Toxicroak using Volt Tackle.
"Stop it now!"Saturn ordered.
Toxicroak prepared to use Poison Jab on Pikachu.
Chimchar moves forward and takes the Poison Jab that was meant for Pikachu.
Ash quickly grabbed Chimchar with his arms.
"Chimchar!"Dawn shouted.
"Oh no!"Denise gasped.
Pikachu, Luxio, Piplup, Vaporeon and Pachirisu notice Chimchar got injured.
Team Rocket snatch the Lustrous Orb, only to be caught in the act by Officer Jenny.
"Hold on, where are you three going?"Officer Jenny asked.
Jessie, James and Meowth stopped in their tracks.
The Lustrous Orb dropped from James head and began to drop down.
"It's falling!"Officer Jenny warned.
"Not for long!"Meowth responded.
Meowth quickly grabbed the Lustrous Orb before it hit the floor.
"That was some fancy paw work."James commented.
Jessie sighed. "Time to breath."
"Did I just hear that Meowth talk?"Professor Carolina asked.
Jessie, James and Meowth froze and realised their disguises have now failed.
"Busted!"Jessie, Meowth and James panicked.
"Not again..."Dawn said.
"Afraid so, Dawn...Team Rocket!"Ash growled.
"Team Rocket?"Cynthia asked.
"They are nothing but a bunch of idiotic pokemon thieves, who are always butting into our lives."Denise replied bitterly.
"Yeah?!"Jessie scowled. "What lives?!"
"Whoever's got the Orb develops a ball!"Meowth laughed.
Cyrus scoffed in annoyance.
Team Rocket removed their disguises and began reciting their motto.
"Seems what you've want, is what we've got!"
"Team Galactic's not so hot!"
"We grabbed the gusto, because we're Johnny on the spot!"
"You're not funny!"Ash snapped.
"Give us back the Lustrous Orb while you can!"Cynthia demanded.
Team Rocket continued their motto.
"You're quite the Champion, hurling empty threats too!"
"Though one sticks to pokemon, if I were you!"
"Zip it! We've got work to do!"
"Wobbuffet!"
Team Rocket began heading to the exit door.
"You dopes make one wrong move and there'll be Lustrous Linguine all over this lobby, capiche?"Meowth threatened.
The group or Team Galactic didn't move a muscle.
"Good."Jessie remarked. "You're only as half as dumb as you look."
"Although we do love to continue this funfest, we do have a boss to attend to."James admitted.
Saturn glanced at Cyrus, who nodded making him walk forward.
"Freeze, weirdo."Meowth retorted.
"I think that you should leave."Saturn suggested.
The suggestion left everyone, but Cyrus and Team Galactic shocked.
"Excellent, fashionable and generous to a fault."James commented.
Team Rocket ran out of the Research Center with the Lustrous Orb.
"Time to vault!"Jessie, Meowth and James remarked.
After Team Rocket leave, Saturn sends the Golbat after them and flee by crushing through the windows.
The group and Officer Jenny notice Team Galactic were gone.
"Where's Team Galactic?"Officer Jenny asked.
"They're probably going after the Lustrous Orb."Cyrus replied.
Denise looked at Officer Jenny.
"Officer Jenny, are you and the other officers going after them?"Denise asked.
"Absolutely."Officer Jenny assured. "We'll get the Lustrous Orb back, don't worry."
"Cynthia, we should go after them too."Ash suggested.
"Hold on, Ash."Cynthia instructed. "What about Chimchar?"
"I know just how you feel, but right now shouldn't you help out these brave pokemon of yours, who battled for us all?"Cynthia said.
Ash looked at Chimchar.
"Oh, Chimchar."Ash said sadly.
"Chimchar."Chimchar mumbled weakly.
"Cynthia is right."Officer Jenny agreed. "You just leave getting the Lustrous Orb back to us."
Officer Jenny rushed out of the place as Brock went up to the group.
"Ash! Dawn! Denise!"Brock called out as he ran forward. "Is everything alright?"
"Brock!"Ash said.
"How's Croagunk?"Brock asked.
"I'm really sorry, Brock."Dawn apologised.
Dawn handed Croagunk to Brock.
"You really put up a great battle, Croagunk."Brock admitted. "I'm so proud of you. What about the Orb?"
"Team Rocket stole it."Denise answered with a frown.
"I don't believe it."Brock said.
Professor Carolina went up to the heroes.
"We've got everything here under control."Professor Carolina stated. "You all should head to the Pokemon Center. Cynthia, you should go too."
"I will."Cynthia replied and looked at her two pokemon. "Garchomp, I'd like you to handle everything with the Orb, please."
Garchomp nodded and flew off into the sky.
"Then I know what to do."Ash commented. "Staravia, come on out!"
The pokeball opened and Staravia appeared.
"Staravia!"
"I want you to with Garchomp and find Team Rocket now."Ash ordered.
Staravia nodded and flew out to follow after Garchomp.
"We're counting on you, Staravia."Ash whispered.
"You know Cyrus, I'm so sorry that your visit had to turn out like this..."Cynthia apologised.
"Don't be."Cyrus responded. "It's all my fault for asking to see the Lustrous Orb, forgive me."
"You're both wrong. The fault is mine."Professor Carolina admitted. "Don't forget that I'm the one who took out the Orb and put it in harm's way."
Afterwards...
The heroes retreat to the Pokemon Center to get help for Chimchar and Croagunk but also so that they can plan their next move.
"Ash, Brock, have Croagunk and Chimchar take these after breakfast and after dinner as well."Nurse Joy instructed and held out two small bags.
Brock and Ash took the small medical bags from Nurse Joy.
"Right."Brock and Ash replied in unison.
"If you need me just call."Nurse Joy stated.
"Chansey."Chansey said.
Nurse Joy and Chansey walked out of the room.
"Now Croagunk, I know you are still very upset but you got to rest."Brock ordered.
Croagunk let out a weak croak.
Ash checked on Chimchar.
"Chimchar, thanks for looking out for Pikachu."Ash responded.
"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.
"Chim..."Chimchar said softly.
"If only I haven't told to use Volt Tackle in the first place."Ash scowled.
"Come on Ash, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself."Dawn reminded.
"Piplup."Piplup agreed.
"Why are you saying that, Ash?"Denise asked.
"Because Dennie, I was so wrapped up in getting that orb back I wasn't thinking about Chimchar at all."Ash answered in shame. "I'm sorry, Chimchar."
Chimchar smiled and gently placed his hand onto Ash's cheek.
"Chimchar…"Ash said quietly.
Denise and Vaporeon smiled at the sight.
"You see Ash?"Denise asked with a soft smile. "Chimchar knows you wouldn't do anything to hurt him."
Vaporeon nodded. "Vaporeon."
"Ash, I've been wanting to ask if your Chimchar was actually Paul's Chimchar once."Cynthia admitted.
"Yeah."Ash answered with a nod.
Cynthia bend down and placed a comforting hand on Chimchar's.
"You certainly have been through a lot, haven't you my little sweetheart?"Cynthia asked. "I want you to remember that Ash and Paul have been through quite a lot of experiences with you. I know they walk different paths pursuing their dreams, but it's important to watch over them both as you all go into the future."
"Watch over us?"Ash said. "What do you mean?"
"Remember I said, 'When every life meets another life'…"Cynthia started.
"Of course, I remember."Ash admitted. "Something will be born."
"But what does that have to do with Ash, Paul and Chimchar?"Denise asked.
"I think that's a question that only Ash can answer."Cynthia responded and looked at Ash. "So Ash, what do you think you and Paul have discovered through the two of you meeting and working with Chimchar?"
Ash looked down and didn't respond.
The heroes and Cynthia then sat down in the Pokemon Center.
Denise suddenly winced causing her to rub her forehead.
"Dennie, are you okay?"Dawn asked.
"I got a bit of headache."Denise answered and looked at Cynthia. "Cynthia, you know those Lake Guardians you were telling us about? I have been recently seeing them in my sleep.
This caused Cynthia, Ash, Dawn and Brock to become surprised.
"You saw Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie all together, Denise?"Brock asked.
"Yeah."Denise agreed with a nod. "But there was another pokemon with them, but it looked like something that lives in the shadows."
"A pokemon that lives in the shadows?"Ash asked.
"Pika..."Pikachu said.
"Cynthia, does there happen to be a legendary pokemon that fits my description?"Denise asked.
"As a matter of fact Denise, when this world was made, Dialga and Palkia appeared."Cynthia explained. "But there was one more pokemon that appeared at the same time. A pokemon with as much power as those two pokemon but lives in a world different from us. Perhaps this is the pokemon you have seeing along with those Lake Guardians."
"I guess so."Denise responded and looked down.
Dawn hugged Piplup gently.
"I don't know why, but I'm scared."Dawn stated.
"Scared?"Ash asked.
"What is this new world Team Galactic keeps talking about?"Dawn questioned. "And what are they trying to do?"
The group fell quiet for a moment before Cynthia spoke up.
"I'll say this."Cynthia replied. "Whatever it is, I'm fairly certain it'll mean nothing but disaster for all of us."
"I think your right."Ash commented.
"And we don't even have a clue what's happening."Denise added with her arms folded.
"No, but although we don't know what their new world is, it's obvious they don't like this one."Cynthia complemented. "Of course, they're not the kind of criminals that are ever going to give up without a fight. We saw now that Team Galactic's managed to steal the Adamant Orb and are going after the Lustrous Orb with a vengeance."
"I'll just bet they're really targeting Dialga and Palkia through the orbs."Brock said in realisation.
Ash, Denise and Dawn gasped in shock at the revelation.
"That's just what I'm thinking as well."Cynthia admitted and a glare appeared on her face. "Team Galactic has big plans for those two orbs, something that will affect the world of people and pokemon. A challenge like none before."
Ash stood up from his seat.
"We can't just sit here when there's stuff to do."Ash stated calmly.
"Ash, you need to calm down."Denise reminded.
"Hey, look out the window."Brock instructed.
Ash looked out the window and saw Staravia flying towards the center.
"It's Staravia!"Ash replied.
The group ran out the door to meet up with Staravia.
"Wow, you found Team Rocket back there?"Ash asked.
Staravia nodded and pointed in the direction he found the three bad guys in.
"Great Staravia, let's go!"Ash suggested.
Afterwards...
Cynthia and the four heads headed to the research center riding her jeep.
Garchomp and Staravia was leading them to Team Rocket's location.
"It can't be!"Dawn said. "Are we going to the research center?"
"Maybe either that or to the ruins."Cynthia answered and looked at Garchomp. "Garchomp, fly on ahead and make sure Team Rocket stays put!"
Ash looked at Pikachu.
"Pikachu, I want you to go with Garchomp, okay?"Ash instructed.
Pikachu nodded and went on Garchomp's back.
"Be careful."Ash warned.
Piplup went on Staravia's back.
"Piplup, you too?"Dawn asked.
"It looks like Piplup wants to help."Brock stated.
Vaporeon went off of Denise's lap and went on Garchomp's back as well.
"And so does Vaporeon."Denise chuckled.
"Ok, we're counting on all of you!"Ash reminded.
Pikachu, Vaporeon, Staravia, Piplup and Garchomp headed to the ruins.
"Purugly use Body Slam and Bronzor use Hypnosis!"Mars ordered.
"Wait!"Team Rocket shouted. "We need our bodies!"
Purugly and Bronzor move in to attack Team Rocket but Pikachu, Vaporeon, Staravia, Piplup and Garchomp interfere.
"Purugly, no!"Mars said and glared at the five pokemon. "You can't do that to my pokemon!"
Vaporeon simply huffed. "Vaporeon."
Purugly hissed angrily at Vaporeon.
"Dis scene reeks of twoip."Meowth commented.
"But that can only mean one thing…"Jessie started.
"We're under the Pikachu Protection Plan!"James finished.
Then the four heroes and Cynthia arrived into the ruins.
"Uh oh, Team Galactic!"Ash said.
"Carolina and Cyrus too!"Dawn added.
"I would say you showed up not a moment too soon!"Professor Carolina called out.
Team Rocket went behind the ancient wall.
"To prove it's not just word of mouth, focus your eyes on the Lustrous prize!"James instructed.
Carnivine opened it's mouth and the Lustrous Orb was revealed to everyone.
"They're crazy!"Mars retorted.
"One wrong move and this Lustrous treasure turns into lunch."Jessie threatened.
"And I sincerely doubt dat Lustrous lasagna's gonna do you yo-yos any good."Meowth added.
"We win!"Jessie chuckled. "Just like I knew we would."
"Wobbu!"Wobbuffet agreed. "Wobbu!"
Ash growled with frustration.
"Cynthia, what are we going to do now?"Dawn asked worriedly.
"They're so desperate they just might go through with it."Professor Carolina replied with a frown.
This prompted Cyrus to explode in anger at Team Rocket.
"Don't you realize how important the Lustrous Orb is? Idiots!"Cyrus snapped angrily.
Team Rocket grew nervous at Cyrus sudden outburst.
Both Denise and Cynthia glared at Cyrus, but quietly watched his attitude.
"You! Look behind you!"Cyrus growled in fury and pointed towards the ancient wall behind Team Rocket. "I trust you fools know that the Adamant and Lustrous Orbs give great power to Dialga and Palkia! But it is when the orbs are combined together with the three Lake Guardians that their full power emerges! To put it in simple terms even you can understand, the three guardians plus the two orbs will gloriously bring forth nothing less than legends!"
Cyrus let out a mad laugh while Dawn, Brock and Ash were completely surprised.
Denise, however, was just suspicious at Cyrus revelation.
"Did he just say bring forth legends?"Ash asked nervously.
"Cyrus, calm down!"Professor Carolina ordered.
"Don't you see that if we don't make them understand what's happening, they'll do something foolish like shatter the orb? I refuse to let that happen at all costs!"Cyrus scowled as he clenched his fist and turned to look at Team Rocket again. "I'm sorry if I seem so upset, but when the stakes are this high, our strongest weapon is the truth! Now listen well the Adamant Orb is in fact Dialga and the Lustrous Orb is Palkia! The orbs will bring them to this world!"
Cyrus let out a loud shout as a large group of Golbat appeared to attack Team Rocket.
"Listen up Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"Ash ordered.
Pikachu fired Thunderbolt at the Golbats.
"Alright, Piplup use Bubble Beam!"Dawn ordered.
Piplup fired Bubble Beam at a bunch of Golbat.
"Now Vaporeon use Aurora Beam!"Denise ordered.
Vaporeon hit the other Golbat group with a rainbow coloured beam.
"Garchomp, Dragon Claw, let's go!"Cynthia ordered.
Garchomp hit the Golbat with Dragon Claw.
Cyrus quietly snickered as a Skuntank jumped from the roof and took the Lustrous Orb from Carnivine.
"Look Ash, the orb!"Dawn protested.
"Who's that pokemon?"Ash asked.
Skuntank used Hyper Beam to sent Team Rocket flying.
"THE HEART BREAKER IS BLASTING OFF!"Team Rocket screamed as they disappeared in the sky.
"Vaporeon use Aurora Beam one more time!"Denise ordered.
Vaporeon a bigger version of her ice attack causing the army of Golbat to fly away from the ruins.
"Oh no!"Cynthia said. "If we don't get that orb back..."
"Come on, let's move!"Ash protested.
The group ran out of the ruins and saw a Team Galactic van taking off.
They were too late.
Later that Night...
Professor Carolina apprised Officer Jenny of the day's events while Cynthia and Ash's group mourn their failure to protect the orbs.
Vaporeon was sleeping on her trainer's lap.
"It's painfully obvious that Team Galactic knows a lot more about Dialga and Palkia than we do."Professor Carolina said. "What could they be after, knowing they stole the Veilstone meteorites as well."
"I wish I have been more help."Cyrus admitted.
"No."Cynthia replied.
"I blew it bad."Ash scowled and punched his fists together.
Dawn and Piplup looked down in sadness.
"No, no, all of you were absolutely great."Cyrus assured. "You got to remember that, excuse me."
Denise gives Cyrus a cold glare as he walked out of the pokemon center.
Ash notice Cynthia was looking at Cyrus.
"Cynthia, something wrong?"Ash asked.
"Huh? No."Cynthia assured with a smile.
The Next Morning...
The four heroes and Cynthia were both departing Celestic Town to go their separate ways.
"So Ash, where are you all headed next?"Cynthia asked.
"The Hearthome Gym."Ash responded.
"Good luck and remember I'm routing for you."Cynthia remarked.
Then Nurse Joy walked outside the center.
"Cynthia, we just received a call from the office, concerning a schedule for the upcoming title battles."Nurse Joy admitted with a smile.
"So the next challenger have been decided?"Cynthia asked.
Nurse Joy nodded. "Right."
"Next challenger?"Ash said.
"The next challenger for the title of champion."Cynthia answered. "Tricky getting back to normal living after all."
"Regular living?"Dawn asked.
"I think I know what you mean."Brock assured.
"Too bad we couldn't stop Team Galactic."Denise commented with a small frown.
"Team Galactic must be dealt with, but it's important for you to live your normal lives and working to realise your hope and dreams."Cynthia explained. "I thank you all so very much until we meet again."
"Right!"Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise said in unison.
"Pikachu!"Pikachu chuckled.
"Piplup!"Piplup chirped.
