Chapter 101: Barry's Busting Out All Over!
Ash and his friends have returned to Hearthome City for Ash's fifth Gym battle.
Luxio stood next to Denise as they walked with their companions.
"There will be no more waiting around for me!"Ash remarked. "The Fifth Gym Badge is as good as ours!"
"Pi pikachu!"Pikachu agreed.
"Alright!"Ash cheered.
Ash runs off to the Hearthome Gym in excitement as his friends followed from behind.
"Hey Ash, wait!"Dawn called out.
"Piplup!"Piplup said.
"Don't leave us behind!"Denise protested.
"Lux!"Luxio growled.
Ash continued running and headed towards the Hearthome Gym.
"Fantina!"Ash shouted excitedly. "I am ready for our Gym Battle!"
As Ash steps up to the Gym's front doors, but someone on the inside opened the door on Ash, knocking him and Pikachu down the stairs.
"Ow, my head."Ash groaned and looked at Pikachu. "Are you okay, Pikachu?"
"Pikachu."Pikachu replied.
The blonde haired boy also fell and manages to get up in a hurry.
"Why didn't you look where you were going? I am going to have to give you a fine."the boy admitted and looked at his Poketch. "You have 10 seconds to pay up."
Ash and Pikachu looked at the boy in confusion.
"9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3-"Barry counted and glared at Ash. "Don't just stand there! I am going to be the strongest trainer in the world, you know! You got that? Later!"
The trainer ran off just as Ash and Pikachu watched him go.
"What's his problem?"Ash asked.
Pikachu and Ash notices a orange badge case that the guy dropped.
"It's a badge case."Ash said.
Ash checked the Badge case and saw three Badges inside.
"Hey, Ash!"
Ash notice Denise, Dawn and Brock rushing forward.
"What is the big rush?"Dawn asked.
"Piplup."Piplup said.
"Luxio."Luxio scowled.
"You may be prepared for your battle, but you don't have to wear all of us out first."Brock stated.
"Ugh Ash, seriously?"Denise said in disproval. "You should learn to always watch your steps. Otherwise, there will be consequences."
"Right."Ash chuckled and rubbed the back of his head.
"Alor, it's Ash!"
The heroes looked up and saw Fantina in the entrance with her Mismagius.
"Wow, Fantina."Dawn remarked.
"Bienvenue mes amis."Fantina said with a smile.
"It feels like forever since I've witnessed your graceful dancing so please won't you take my hand and let's trip the light fantastic!"Brock flirted in a lovey dovey mood.
Fantina spun out of the way and bend down to talk to Ash causing Brock to hit the floor.
"Ash, I have waited for your return."Fantina commented.
"So have I."Brock muttered in pain.
"Of course, all good things come to those who wait."Fantina stated. "Bon, allons-y mes amis."
"That's great Fantina, thanks."Ash responded.
"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.
"Alor, what is that?"Fantina asked and looked at the orange badge case that Ash held. "It belongs to my previous challenger."
"Challenger?"Ash said.
"Oui."Fantina agreed. "Twinleaf Town is where he comes from and I'll say this, he's a challenger who's full of life!"
"Twinleaf Town?"Dawn asked.
"Qui."Fantina replied and winked. "But make no mistake, he's no match for me."
"I think I am!"Ash stated confidently. "How about a battle right now?"
Pikachu nodded. "Pika?"
"Quel dommage."Fantina admitted sadly. "Today is no good for me."
Ash became shocked and dropped himself on the floor causing Dawn, Denise and Brock to smile sheepishly.
Afterwards...
The heroes decide to head to the Pokemon Center to rest there.
"Man, after all this time."Ash said sadly. "Back to square one."
"Not much you can do."Dawn reminded. "Fantina has been fighting Gym Battles all day long."
"Gym Leaders's pokemon need to relax too."Brock commented. "We can do the same thing you know at the Pokemon Center."
"Well not to worry, Ash."Denise assured. "Once Fantina's pokemon are powered up again, you can have a battle with her before you know it."
"I sure hope so, Dennie."Ash complemented and took out the orange badge case. "I really need to give this back to that trainer."
"Hey!"A male voice rang out. "Coming through!"
The same Trainer Ash saw at the Gym runs straight into Ash again, both getting knocked down.
The orange badge case landed next to the blonde haired boy.
"Ash, no!"Brock shouted.
"Are you okay?"Dawn asked.
"Your not hurt, are you?"Denise questioned worriedly.
"Another dope not looking where he's going."the boy groaned as he rubbed his head and notice Ash. "Huh? Not you again!"
Dawn and Denise notice something familiar about the boy.
The boy notice his badge case below him.
"My badge case!"the blonde haired boy said and stood up. "I see your a klutz and a thief!"
"A thief?"Ash asked and stood up.
"No, no, you got it all wrong."Brock reminded.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu snapped angrily.
"I know you!"the blonde haired boy admitted. "You were in the Tag Battle Contest, right? You were teamed up with Paul! I watched the battle on the tube. Oh man! You couldn't even hold a candle to Paul! I was laughing out loud!"
"Oh yeah?!"Ash questioned.
"Barry!"Dawn said with a smile. "Now I remember!"
"Oh my gosh, it has been forever since we last saw you!"Denise chuckled.
"Huh?"Barry asked in confusion.
"So who's Barry?"Ash asked.
"I'm Dawn Berlitz."Dawn introduced. "I know your the guy who did the duet with the Exploud at the town festival, right? It's like it was yesterday."
"And I'm her twin sister, Denise."Denise commented. "We are both from Twinleaf Town just like you. Your mum and our mum know each other."
"Really?"Barry asked in confusion. "I don't really have a clue who you two are."
"Surely you remember me, Barry."Denise suggested. "I used to always play with you and Lucas when we were kids. We even watched your dad's battles whenever he was in town."
"Let see...Denise, huh?"Barry said and shrugged. "Sorry, I don't remember."
Denise simply walked forward and pulled Barry's ear hard causing the blonde haired boy to cry out in pain.
Luxio snickered quietly at Barry's misfortune, finding it funny.
"Does this refreshes your memory?"Denise questioned with a frown.
"Ow! Yes! Yes! Yes!"Barry replied and rubbed his ear. "Now I remember us and Lucas used to play a lot while my dad was watching us. Not to mention you were the little girl, who loved pulling my ear a lot."
"Bingo."Denise responded simply. "I did that everytime you forgot bringing your toys or when you forgot things such as not remembering me right now."
"Hey, nobody is perfect."Barry reminded with a nervous smile.
Barry let out a nervous chuckle and a realisation hit him.
"Wait, I remember something else!"Barry stated and pointed at Dawn. "You've got to be that hopelessly geeky trainer who lost in the semi-final of the Tag Battle Contest, of course!"
"Geeky, huh?"Dawn said with a frown.
"I was in that Tag Battle Contest as well, Barry."Denise complemented.
"Really, Denise? Then I guess your either the girl who got defeated by Paul in the finale or just like him."Barry admitted.
This caused Denise's face to become bright red and upset.
"Like him?!"Denise asked in anger. "I rather gamble than go out with that jerk!"
Ash, Brock and Dawn sweat drop at what Denise just said.
"I never thought I would expect to meet you three all in one place."Barry remarked with a smile.
"For your information, I was at the Tag Battle Contest."Brock reminded.
"Wow, I don't remember you at all."Barry admitted. "What's your name?"
"It's Brock."Brock grumbled.
"Well that's not exactly ringing a bell."Barry commented and realised something. "Now I know! You're the one who couldn't keep up with Paul!"
"Ash is my name!"Ash growled.
"Ash, Ash, Ash."Barry said and smiled. "Let's have a battle!"
"A battle?"Ash asked in confusion.
"Come on, let's see your pokemon!"Barry encouraged and looked at his poketch. "You've got ten seconds! Nine, eight, seven, six..."
Dawn gasped and checked the poketch on Barry's wrist.
"Oh, cool."Dawn remarked. "It's a brand new Poketch! I've just got to have one of those!"
"Nice, isn't it? I got it over Jublife City just last week."Barry explained and glared at Dawn. "Hey! Now I've lost track on how much time's gone by! Look, you trainer geek! This is your fault!"
Dawn glared at Barry while Denise simply face palmed.
"The only trainer geek is you!"Dawn scowled. "My name is Dawn! D-A-W-N!"
"Yeah, right. Whatever you say, Dawn it is."Barry said as he tapped his head and looked at Ash. "Stop stalling! Get the lid out and call your pokemon!"
"What a pain in the neck!"Ash retorted and took out a pokeball. "Chimchar, let's go!"
The pokeball opened and Chimchar appeared.
"Chimchar!"
"Hey that looks like Paul's Chimchar."Barry commented and smiled. "You guys trade or something?"
"Afraid not."Ash answered. "Paul abandoned Chimchar so I took over."
"Puh-lease, Paul's too good a trainer for that nonsense and you're lucky you got to make a trade."Barry complemented. "I know why! You're trying to be strong like Paul!"
"What?"Ash growled. "Come on!"
"I want to get strong too."Barry said. "So I've been working like crazy and battling a whole bunch of trainers and Gym Leaders from all over the place. I've already gotten three badges. What about you?"
"Three? I've got four."Ash replied.
"And I have five."Denise responded.
"Four and five, huh?"Barry said with a startled expression and frowned. "Whatever. Numbers don't mean anything. When it comes to the stronger trainer, I'm the man! It's battle time! Now..."
Barry notice he didn't have his pokeballs with him.
"What's wrong?"Ash asked.
"I kind of left my pokemon in a storage."Barry admitted. "I'll be right back! Don't move or you'll be sorry!"
Barry took off and went away from Ash, Denise, Dawn and Brock.
"Hey, wait!"Ash protested.
"Classic Barry."Denise muttered.
The four heroes ran after Barry and they arrived to a storage that was run by Team Rocket.
"Excuse me, I would like to get my pokemon back if you don't mind."Barry requested.
"Now, hear this, punk!"Jessie said angrily. "Know what finders keepers and losers weepers means!?"
James and Meowth cover Jessie's mouth.
"It's obvious that our busy schedule is wreaking havoc in her poor rattle-brain."James replied nervously.
"Look I'm in a hurry."Barry admitted. "So you have ten seconds to get them. Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three-"
"We can count too!"Meowth assured. "Just cool your jets!"
James, Jessie, Meowth and Wobbuffet went at the back of the storage.
"Good, now we can finally get to battle already."Barry commented confidently.
Denise sighed at her childhood friend.
"Your still braggart as ever, Barry."Denise said.
"Why thank you, Denise."Barry responded with a smile.
"Luxio."Luxio mumbled.
"You know there is something strange about this place."Brock admitted.
Fantina and her Mismagius walked up to the heroes.
"Alor."Fantina replied. "It is Ash and the challenger from before."
"Hey Fantina."Ash greeted.
"Doing some shopping?"Dawn asked.
"Mais oui, mes amis."Fantina answered cheerfully. "I'm on my way to prepare a great feast! For all of my magnifique hard working pokemon, oui?"
Fantina notice the storage next to the group.
"What kind of storage is this?"Fantina asked.
"It's a storage service."Barry answered.
"Now that is very strange."Fantina responded. "I've never even heard of a place like."
This caused Ash, Denise, Brock and Dawn to become alarmed.
Barry went up to the storage.
"Come on, people!"Barry called out. "Let's go with my poke balls and make it quick!"
Suddenly the storage falls apart as Team Rocket goes up in their balloon.
"Alright, who are you really?!"Barry demanded.
Team Rocket began reciting their motto.
"Yet another twerp, who doesn't know what's real!"
"You'd think by now, that it's no big deal!"
"On the wind!"
"Past the stars!"
"Look at 'em squeal!"
"Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!"
"Dashing all hope, putting fear in its place!"
"A rose by any other name is just as sweet!"
"When everything's worse, our work is complete!"
"Jessie!"
"And James!"
"Meowth, that's a name!"
"Putting the do gooders in their-"
"Stop, enough already."Barry suggested impatiently. "I've got it. Jessie, James and Meowth, wow."
This caused Team Rocket to become annoyed.
"Skip manner class, did we?"Jessie questioned.
"And what is it that these people exactly do?"Fantina asked.
"Team Rocket is so nasty, they steal other people's pokemon."Dawn replied.
Fantina gasped. "No!"
"Now that's a fair synopsis!"James remarked. "As we will be stealing all of yours!"
"Upsy daisy!"Meowth laughed.
Team Rocket began to escape in their air balloon.
Denise and Luxio glared at the evil trio.
"Hey!"Barry protested. "You can't leave!"
"They won't!"Ash assured and threw out a pokeball. "Go, Gliscor!"
The pokeball opened and Gliscor appeared in the sky.
"Time for a face off, Carnivine!"James stated.
Carnivine appeared and bit on James head.
"It's a battling face off!"James complained. "Not a biting face off!"
"Quick Seviper, let's right this wrong!"Jessie insisted.
Seviper appeared and launched forward to attack.
"I would be honoured to handle zis!"Fantina replied. "Now Mismagius use Psybeam, tout suite!"
Mismagius uses Psybeam, hitting Seviper and confusing it.
"Alright Gliscor, X-Scissors!"Ash ordered.
Gliscor uses X-Scissor to make the balloon pop and Team Rocket falls down.
A bag of pokeballs landed on the floor and Barry checked inside it.
"Oh no! My pokeballs!"Barry panicked. "Where are you?! I'm going to find you!"
Barry managed to get his pokeballs back.
"Awesome!"Barry chuckled. "I found them!"
Team Rocket dusted away the dirt on them.
"We're not going to let some large Gym Leader throw us off on our game!"Jessie argued.
"Your problem is this!"Fantina laughed. "It's obvious that you just don't know how to dance!"
"Now that's setting me below the belt!"Jessie snapped.
"We're stealing back our honour and your pokemon!"Meowth retorted.
"Though we never did have any honour!"James admitted.
Denise, Ash and Dawn prepared to battle.
"You've got that right!"Ash said.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu agreed.
"The honour you got is twisting my stomach!"Denise scowled.
"Luxio!"Luxio growled.
"Prove them wrong, Seviper!"Jessie ordered.
"Go to the assist, Carnivine!"James demanded.
"Stop them cold, Pikachu!"Ash ordered.
"In their traps, Piplup!"Dawn stated.
"Give them their justice dessert, Luxio!"Denise encouraged.
Pikachu, Piplup and Luxio moved forward to attack.
"Carnivine, Bullet Seed!"James ordered.
Carnivine fired Bullet Seed towards Pikachu, Piplup and Luxio.
"Quick Seviper use Bite, full blast!"Jessie ordered.
Seviper moved forward to attack Pikachu, Piplup and Luxio.
"Oh no!"Dawn gasped.
"Look out!"Ash warned.
"Night Slash, Luxio!"Denise ordered.
Luxio slashed Seviper with Night Slash.
"I'll help too!"Barry said and held out a pokeball. "Empoleon, show 'em what's for!"
The pokeball opened and Empoleon appeared.
"Empoleon!"
"Now, Hydro Cannon, let's go!"Barry ordered.
Empoleon uses Hydro Cannon to hit Seviper.
Seviper landed next to it's companions.
"Don't let a twerp pose you down!"Jessie argued.
Denise looked at Barry.
"Whoa..."Ash said.
"That's powerful."Dawn remarked.
"Nice."Denise chuckled.
"Your Empoleon knows Hydro Cannon?"Brock asked.
"You bet! Pretty cool, right?"Barry bragged. "You see that little gem of a great move earned us the Forest Badge."
"That means you have been in the Eterna Gym."Fantina responded.
"So he battled Gardenia."Dawn commented.
This caused James to become surprised.
"I've got to admit, that Cacnea of hers was pretty strong."Barry admitted. "Dealing with that Drain Punch was no cakewalk, I'll tell you. Isn't that right, Empoleon?"
Empoleon nodded in agreement.
"It must be! Wow!"James cried in joy and went up to Barry. "That Cacnea is mine, you see!"
"Huh?"Barry said in confusion.
"Did my dearly and missed Cacnea seemed happy and well-fed and was it heatlhy and was it making new friends? Oh please, tell more about my Cacnea?"
"The thing is I had stuff to do..."Barry said nervously.
James stood up with a proud look on his face.
"So Cacnea mastered Drain Punch with it's talents and Gardenia's teaching skills, they couldn't lose!"James remarked. "I knew Cacnea was destined for greatness!"
Meowth and Wobbuffet dragged James away.
"If you were any softer, you would've been melted all over the ground."Meowth mumbled.
"Wobba wobba..."Wobbuffet agreed.
Meowth and Wobbuffet brought James back with Jessie and the others.
"Come on!"Meowth challenged.
"No more, Mr Nice Crooks!"Jessie reminded.
"So Cacnea this one's for you!"James stated. "Carnivine, old chum, use Bite!"
"Seviper, Poison Tail, let's go!"Jessie ordered.
Carnivine and Seviper moved forward to attack.
"Now Piplup, Bubble Beam!"Dawn ordered.
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!"Ash ordered.
Carnivine and Seviper gets stopped by Pikachu's Thunderbolt and Piplup's BubbleBeam.
"Use Spark, Luxio!"Denise ordered.
"Now Empoleon use Hyper Beam!"Barry ordered.
With Luxio's Spark and Empoleon's Hyper Beam, Team Rocket blasted off.
"Bravo!"Fantina cheered and placed her hands together.
"Those stinkers stole our storage and steal!"Jessie argued.
"And no bucks and yucks for our clucks!"Meowth stated sadly.
"But now that I can live by curiously through Cacnea's success, who cares if life's a mess?"James asked happily.
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"Team Rocket screamed as they disappeared in the sky.
"Alor, it's time to give everyone back their pokemon."Fantina said.
"Great, thanks Fantina."Ash remarked.
"It looks like you've gotten much stronger Ash."Fantina commented. "I'm so looking forward to our Gym Battle."
"Me too and I'm going to win it no doubt!"Ash stated confidently.
Pikachu smirked. "Pika pika!"
Ash, Barry, Denise, Dawn and Brock walked around town together.
"So your going to have a match with Fantina?"Barry asked.
"You bet and you're gonna have a rematch with her, aren't you?"Ash said.
"You bet Ash! If Empoleon's no good, I'll get a stronger pokemon and if it's no good I'll just get an even stronger one."Barry commented. "Then I'll be able to beat any Gym Leader, you know?"
"I wonder just because you have a bunch of strong pokemon doesn't mean you'll always going to win."Ash admitted.
"Huh?"Barry said in confusion.
"I think it's just as important to train together with your pokemon so you learn what makes them tick."Ash explained. "You know to bond with them."
"I'm not sure what you mean by bonding with them."Barry commented.
"Seems to me that no matter how weak a pokemon may be now, if you work hard together then you'll grow strong together and win together."Ash stated.
"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.
"I wanna win now."Barry admitted. "The truth is my goal is to become as strong as I can and as quickly as I can as strong as Paul."
"As Paul?"Ash said and frowned when he looked down. "That jerk."
"Paul is the coolest trainer ever."Barry remarked with eyes sparkling. "You must think so too right?"
Ash didn't respond and simply looked down.
"Earth to Ash?"Barry asked. "Hey, why are you all spaced out?"
"See Ash has battled Paul several times already."Dawn said.
"And things never end well."Denise retorted.
"You battled with Paul?"Barry asked in shock. "What happened? Did you win or did you lose?"
Ash remained silent.
"I guess you lost."Barry commented smugly. "I should've known it from the start. I mean, after all, you were up against a giant."
"What was that?!"Ash questioned with a glare.
"Oh please! Forget about it man!"Barry bragged. "It's time to battle so come on, let's rock!"
"Okay, you got a deal!"Ash snapped.
At the Pokemon Center...
Brock officiated the three on three battle.
"Each trainer will use three pokemon."Brock instructed. "When all three trainer's pokemon are unable to continue, the battle is over!"
"Right!"Ash and Brock said in unison.
"Wow Dennie, they're really into it."Dawn commented.
"Let's hope Ash is able to beat Barry."Denise complemented.
Piplup looked at Luxio.
"Piplup."Piplup chirped.
Luxio nodded. "Luxio."
"Let the battle begin!"Brock announced.
"Alright Chimchar, I choose you!"Ash remarked.
The pokeball opened and Chimchar appeared.
"Chimchar!"
"Let's go, Staraptor!"Barry instructed. "Show them what you're made of!"
The pokeball opened and Staraptor appeared in the battlefield.
"Staraptor!"
The first round pits Ash's Chimchar against Barry's Staraptor.
"Use Tackle!"Barry ordered.
"Dodge it, Chimchar!"Ash ordered.
Staraptor uses Tackle as Chimchar dodges the attack.
"Whoa!"Barry said in shock. "What the-"
"Chimchar use Flamethrower!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar fires Flamethrower towards Staraptor.
"This is bad!"Barry panicked. "Staraptor do something!"
Staraptor dodged Chimchar's Flamethrower causing Ash to grit his teeth.
"Awesome! Now it's our turn Staraptor!"Barry stated. "Close Combat!"
Staraptor comes around to use Close Combat.
Chimchar dodged most of the strikes, but Chimchar takes a few hits and gets thrown back.
"Hang in there, Chimchar!"Ash called out.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu protested.
"This is a good time for Wing Attack!"Barry said confidently.
Staraptor charged forward with Wing Attack.
Barry smirked. "Our battle's as good as done!"
"Chimchar use Dig!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar uses Dig to escape Staraptor.
"Huh? What was that?"Barry asked.
"Chimchar, Flamethrower, let's go!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar came up and fired Flamethrower to knock out Staraptor.
"Staraptor is unable to battle!"Brock announced.
"Alright!"Ash chuckled.
"Pika!"Pikachu cheered.
"Looks like Ash is starting off on top."Dawn complemented.
"Keep it, Ash!"Denise encouraged. "Your doing great!"
Barry returned Staraptor in it's pokeball.
"Just getting warmed up!"Barry retorted and took out a pokeball. "Now your up, Roserade!"
The pokeball opened and Roserade appeared in the battlefield.
"Rose roserade!"
"Roserade use Poison Jab!"Barry ordered.
Roserade hits Chimchar with Poison Jab.
"Chimchar!"Ash called out.
"Poison Jab! More Poison Jab!"Barry ordered. "Keep it coming!"
Chimchar does Roserade's Poison Jab.
"Dodge and get out of there, quick!"Ash instructed.
"Roserade use your legs!"Barry ordered.
Roserade uses it's legs to lower Chimchar's guard and managing to get in clean strikes.
"Get it together, Chimchar!"Dawn called out.
"Pip Piplup!"Piplup shouted.
"Now for the big bang!"Barry instructed.
Roserade knocks out Chimchar with one powerful strike.
Denise and Luxio gasped at the sight.
"Chimchar is unable to battle!"Brock announced.
"So there!"Barry taunted.
Ash returned Chimchar in it's pokeball.
"Thanks, Chimchar."Ash commented. "You were great."
Ash took out another pokeball.
"Okay Gliscor, your up next!"Ash stated.
The pokeball opened causing Gliscor appear.
"Gliscor use X-Scissor!"Ash ordered.
"Roserade use Poison Jab!"Barry ordered.
Gliscor and Roserade leapt to the air and attacked each other.
"Keep it up, Gliscor!"Ash encouraged.
"Roserade, keep it up too!"Barry instructed.
Gliscor and Roserade kept defending with X-Scissor and Poison Jab.
"Looking good, Gliscor!"Ash remarked.
"Only thing we need to do to win is to attack, Gliscor!"Barry argued and looked at Roserade. "So Roserade, go!"
Gliscor and Roserade stop defending and go for complete offense, eventually winding up with both of them getting knocked out.
"Oh no!"Ash and Barry said in shock.
"The results is a tie!"Brock announced. "Both are unable to battle!"
"Whoa, a tie."Denise thought. "Just like my first battle with Paul."
Barry returned Roserade back in it's pokeball.
"Roserade, return."Barry ordered.
Ash returned Gliscor in his pokeball.
"Thanks, Gliscor."Ash said with a grateful expression. "Now take a good rest."
Ash placed Gliscor's pokeball away.
"I'll never beat Fantina if I lose here."Ash commented and looked at Pikachu. "Pikachu, do you feel like winning this?"
"Pika!"Pikachu assured and went into the battlefield.
"Alright Empoleon, your up last!"Barry stated.
The pokeball opened and Empoleon appeared.
"Empoleon!"
"Barry's choosing a water type against an electric type?"Dawn questioned. "That doesn't make a bit of sense to me at all."
"Empoleon happens to be a steel type as well, sis."Denise admitted. "But Ash still has the upper hand."
"Compatibility means nothing to me and my Empoleon!"Barry called out. "What matters most is how much powerful Empoleon is!"
"Pikachu, let's go and use Thunderbolt!"Ash ordered.
Pikachu charged with Thunderbolt.
"Empoleon, Hydro Cannon!"Barry ordered.
Empoleon uses Hydro Cannon.
"Dodge, Pikachu!"Ash ordered.
Pikachu dodges the blast.
"It's the perfect time for Steel Wing!"Barry stated.
Empoleon rushes forward with Steel Wing.
"Hit right back with Iron Tail!"Ash ordered.
Pikachu countered the steel attack with Iron Tail.
"Attack and attack some more!"Barry ordered. "Now use Steel Wing!"
"We're not losing this time, so use Iron Tail!"Ash ordered.
Empoleon uses Steel Wing again as Pikachu repeats Iron Tail.
Pikachu lands a few hits before getting knocked back.
"Oh no, Pikachu is starting to look weak."Dawn said worriedly.
"Don't give up, Pikachu!"Denise protested.
"Piplup piplup!"Piplup chirped.
"Luxio lux!"Luxio snapped.
Piplup and Luxio shouted at Pikachu to stay strong.
"Let's wrap it up with Hyper Beam!"Barry ordered.
Empoleon fires Hyper Beam as Pikachu gets hit, flying up in the air, seemingly defeated.
"Bingo!"Barry chuckled.
"You can do it, Pikachu!"Ash shouted.
Ash's plea for courage snapped Pikachu back to action, ready to continue.
"Yeah! Empoleon can't move after using Hyper Beam!"Ash stated. "We'll use Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu attacks with Thunderbolt, knocking Empoleon down.
"Now use Volt Tackle!"Ash ordered.
Pikachu uses Volt Tackle, knocking out Empoleon and giving Ash the win.
"Hey Empoleon, stand up!"Barry demanded.
Empoleon lied on the ground, completely defeated.
"Empoleon is unable to battle!"Brock announced. "The winners are Pikachu and Ash!"
"Alright!"Ash cheered.
Pikachu rushed forward to give his trainer a hug.
Barry dropped on his knees and closed his eyes.
"No way."Barry complained.
Piplup, Dawn and Brock went up to Ash, Pikachu, Denise and Luxio.
"I have to admit that battle was awesome."Denise replied proudly.
"I knew you would win this."Dawn giggled. "Great battling, Ash."
"Piplup."Piplup responded with a nod.
"Luxio."Luxio remarked.
"You and Pikachu really demonstrated just how important bonding with your pokemon is."Brock admitted.
"Thanks a lot, you guys."Ash replied.
"Pika pika."Pikachu answered softly.
"Oh give me a break! What are you so happy about?"Barry questioned and smirked. "You just got lucky that's all, but I guess I'll cut you a little break on this one time."
"You'll what?!"Ash demanded.
"Now don't you forget."Barry reminded with a smirk. "I'm oh so much stronger than you both ever going to be."
"Okay, why don't you come to the Gym tomorrow?"Ash suggested. "You can watch me beat Fantina. The Gym Leader you lost to."
"I'll come to see your match, Ash."Barry replied. "I'm sure I can have the time to watch you go down."
"Go down?"Denise questioned. "Hey Barry, how about you and me have a battle after Ash gets his fifth badge?"
"Sure Denise, why not?"Barry said and smiled. "I'll enjoy demonstrating it to you how tough I am."
Denise glared at her childhood friend and now rival.
"Don't get so cocky."Denise warned bitterly.
