Chapter 108: Denise's Sixth Gym Battle and Stray Pokemon?!
Denise was going to have her battle against Byron while Brock, Ash, Dawn and Lucas sat down to watch.
"Denise, you've defeated my son. But that's no surprise."Byron stated. "He still has much to learn. In place of my son Roark, I, Byron, will take your challenge!"
"That's good!"Denise assured. "Because I'm not backing down from this!"
"The battle between Denise the challenger and Byron the Gym Leader is about to begin!"Roark announced. "This will be a three on three battle! When all three pokemon on one side are unable to continue, the match will be over. Furthermore, only the Challenger may substitute pokemon! Let the battle begin!"
"I love Magneton!"Byron shouted and threw out a pokeball.
The pokeball opened and a Magneton appeared in the battlefield.
"Magneton!"
This caused Brock, Ash and Dawn to become surprised causing Lucas to look at them.
"What's wrong?"Lucas asked in confusion.
"I thought Byron was going to send out Bronzor as his first Pokemon."Ash admitted.
Dawn checked Magneton in her Pokedex.
"Magneton the Magnet Pokemon."Dawn's Pokedex said. "It is actually three Magnemite linked by magnetism. A group can set off a magnetic storm."
Denise looked at Magneton in silence.
"An electric and steel type."Denise quietly and then smiled. "Alright Drifblim, come on out!"
The pokeball opened and Drifblim appeared in the battlefield.
"Drifblim!"
"Why is Denise picking Drifblim?"Dawn asked. "Magnetom is an Electric type which has an advantage against a Flying type?"
"Piplup."Piplup said.
"Magneton use Thunderbolt!"Byron ordered.
Magneton fired Thunderbolt towards Drifblim.
"Drifblim use Thunderbolt too!"Denise ordered.
Drifblim used Thunderbolt and it collided with Magneton's.
"Cool move at cancelling a Thunderbolt with a Thunderbolt."Lucas remarked.
"Tri Attack!"Byron shouted.
Magneton created a series of orbs made of fire, ice and electricity around itself before firing them towards Drifblim.
"Drifblim, spin to dodge!"Denise ordered.
Drifblim dodged the normal type attack by quickly spinning around Magneton before flying back to her spot.
"Good dodge."Byron complemented. "I can see why you managed to beat my son back in Oreburgh. Now Magneton use Metal Sound!"
Magneton unleashed a loud metal sound causing Drifblim to cry out in pain.
When the sound ended, Drifblim was slowly breathing.
"Hang in there, Drifblim!"Denise protested. "Fly up in the air!"
Drifblim headed up in the sky.
"Let's finish this!"Byron stated. "Magneton use Flash Cannon!"
Magneton sent a Flash Cannon towards Drifblim.
"Drifblim use Will-O-Wisp!"Denise ordered.
Drifblim unleashed bluish flames at Magneton causing the electric steel type to get burned.
"Magneton is burned by Drifblim's will-o-wisp!"Ash commented.
"Pika!"Pikachu remarked.
"Magneton, Thunderbolt!"Byron ordered.
Magneton fired Thunderbolt towards Drifblim.
"Drifblim dodge and grab Magneton!"Denise ordered.
Drifblim spun around to dodge the thunderbolt before flying in front of Magneton and grabbing it with her arms.
"What?!"Byron shouted.
"Drifblim use Astonish!"Denise ordered.
Drifblim attacked Magneton while shouting in a startling fashion.
"GAH!"Byron shouted in anger. "Fight through it and use Flash Cannon!"
Magneton gathered all it's light energy and hit Drifblim with it.
"Drifblim, Ominous Wind!"Denise ordered.
Drifblim created a gust of repulsive wind which hit the Magnet Pokemon and knocking it out when it hit the ground.
"Magneton!"Byron shouted in shock.
"Magneton is unable to battle!"Roark announced. "Drifblim wins!"
"Alright!"Dawn cheered. "Dennie defeated Magneton!"
"Piplup piplup!"Piplup chirped in joy.
"Despite the disadvantage, Denise had Drifblim attack and dodge just like she was in a contest battle."Brock complemented.
Byron returned Magneton in it's pokeball.
"Return, Magneton. Take a good rest."Byron responded and looked at Denise. "Not bad. You defeated my Magneton while using your pokemon to attack and dodge to avoid by using your contest skills."
"Well, I happen to compete in contests not just gym battles."Denise admitted with a small smile.
"But let's see if you can defeat this!"Byron stated and threw out a pokeball. "I love Steelix!"
The pokeball opened and Steelix appeared in the battlefield.
Steelix let out a roar at Denise.
"Now it's Steelix."Ash said firmly.
"The one who took out your Buizel?"Lucas asked.
"Yeah."Ash answered. "This is now going to get tight for Dennie."
"Pikachu."Pikachu responded.
Denise returned Drifblim in her pokeball.
"Good job, Drifblim. You done well."Denise assured and took out another pokeball. "Okay, Vaporeon! Your up next!"
The pokeball opened and Vaporeon came out.
"Vaporeon!"
Roark recognises Vaporeon since he remembered her being an Eevee when battling his Onix.
"Hey Denise, is that your Eevee?"Roark asked.
"Yep."Denise answered with a nod. "But since evolving, Vaporeon has become a lot stronger."
"Vaporeon."Vaporeon said with a smile.
"Let's start off!"Denise replied. "Vaporeon use Water Gun!"
Vaporeon fired Water Gun towards Steelix.
"Steelix use Screech!"Byron ordered.
Steelix let out a Screech causing Vaporeon to wince at the uncomfortable sound.
"Vaporeon!"Denise shouted. "Use Aurora Beam to stop the sound!"
Vaporeon leapt up and hits Steelix with a rainbow-coloured beam.
Steelix roared in pain.
"Steelix use Bind!"Byron ordered.
Steelix grabbed Vaporeon with his tail before it began strangling the water type pokemon.
Denise gasped at the sight.
"Steelix use Iron Tail!"Byron ordered.
Steelix throws Vaporeon into the air as it's tail began to shine white.
"Now it's our chance!"Denise said. "Vaporeon, Water Gun!"
The Bubble Jet Pokemon opened her eyes and hits Steelix with water gun to prevent the steel ground type from hitting her.
"A direct hit!"Dawn commented.
"Piplup!"Piplup tweeted.
"Steelix use Gyro Ball!"Byron ordered.
Some of Steelix's spikes glow light blue and spin around fast with a light-blue ring surrounding Steelix.
Steelix attacked Vaporeon in quick speed causing the water type to hit the ground.
Dawn, Ash and Lucas gasped at the sight.
"Vaporeon!"Denise shouted in worry.
"What move was that?!"Lucas asked in surprise.
"Gyro Ball."Brock answered. "The user tackles the opponent with a high-speed spin. The slower the user, the greater the damage."
Vaporeon carefully stood up despite the small injuries she had on her body.
"Ha! Ha!"Byron laughed with a smirk. "You didn't think when I took out Steelix, I was going to make it easy for?"
Denise gritted her teeth a little bit, but remained calm.
"We are not giving up!"Denise vowed. "Vaporeon, go behind Steelix!"
"Use Iron Tail!"Byron ordered.
Vaporeon ran in quick speed headed behind Steelix while avoiding being hit by it's tail.
"Steelix use Screech!"Byron ordered.
Steelix sent a screech towards Vaporeon.
"Vaporeon jump onto Steelix!"Denise ordered.
Vaporeon went onto Steelix's rock-like sections.
"Steelix get Vaporeon off of you and use Bind!"Byron ordered.
Steelix began to shake itself causing Vaporeon to struggle to hang onto it.
"Vaporeon climb onto the top and use Hydro Pump!"Denise ordered.
Vaporeon climbed onto of Steelix's head and blasted a huge volume of water on Steelix causing Byron to become shocked.
The Bubble Jet Pokemon landed safely back down as Steelix fainted and collapsed on the ground.
"Steelix is unable to battle!"Roark announced. "Vaporeon is the winner!"
"Alright!"Dawn cheered. "Two down and one to go!"
"But don't forget Denise now has to deal with Bastiodon's defence."Brock reminded.
"When did Vaporeon learned Hydro Pump?"Ash asked.
"Vaporeon learned Hydro Pump when Denise used her to battle against my Monferno."Lucas admitted.
Denise took out Vaporeon's pokeball.
"Vaporeon, return."Denise instructed. "I'm proud of you. Well done."
Denise returned Vaporeon in her pokeball.
"Return, Steelix."Byron ordered.
Byron returned Steelix back into it's pokeball and took out his last pokeball which alarmed Denise.
"Oh, what's this? My last one!"Byron said with a smirk. "This is where we make our stand!"
A big explosion appeared behind Byron.
"I love Bastiodon!"Byron shouted and threw out the pokeball.
The pokeball opened and Bastiodon appeared in the battlefield.
Denise took out a pokeball.
"Okay Drifblim!"Denise stated. "Your up again!"
The pokeball opened and Drifblim appeared in the battlefield.
"Drifblim!"
"Your ghost flying type again?"Byron asked and smirked. "Give us all you got!"
"We will!"Denise assured. "Drifblim use Thunderbolt!"
Drifblim unleashed her powerful electric attack causing Bastiodon to get paralysed.
"Bastiodon is struggling to move!"Ash chuckled.
"Use Astonish!"Denise ordered.
Drifblim prepares to make Bastiodon flinch.
"Fight through it with Iron Head!"Byron ordered.
Bastiodon hits Drifblim with Iron Head.
"Quick, Drifblim use Ominous Wind!"Denise ordered.
"Block it with Iron Defence!"Byron ordered.
Drifblim used Ominous Wind, but Bastiodon prevented itself.
The Blimp Pokemon frowned at the sight.
"That defence seems to never run out."Denise muttered. "Drifblim fly behind Bastiodon and use Will-O-Wisp!"
Drifblim flew behind Bastiodon and send bluish flames towards it.
"Flash Cannon, Bastiodon!"Byron ordered.
Bastiodon turned around and hits Drifblim with a Flash Cannon causing her to prevent her from using Will-O-Wisp.
"I got you now!"Byron stated. "Use Metal Burst!"
"Thunderbolt, Drifblim!"Denise ordered.
Bastiodon unleashed Metal Burst towards Drifblim, who used Thunderbolt to counter it.
However the Metal Burst went through the Thunderbolt and hit Drifblim.
"Drifblim!"Denise cried out.
Drifblim dropped on the battlefield and fainted.
"Drifblim is unable to battle!"Roark announced. "Bastiodon is the winner!"
"Aw man."Ash mumbled. "Drifblim lost after all that..."
Denise placed Drifblim away in her pokeball.
"Take a long rest, Drifblim."Denise instructed. "Don't worry. I'm not giving up."
Denise puts Drifblim's pokeball away and became a bit troubled.
"What's the matter, Denise?"Byron taunted. "Bastiodon's defence seems to be really bother you a lot now?"
Denise frowned and took out her third pokeball.
"It's all up to you now."Denise said gently and threw out the pokeball. "Grotle, it's your turn!"
The pokeball opened and Grotle appeared in the battlefield.
"Grotle!"
Grotle and Bastiodon stared at each other.
"A grass type?"Byron asked. "Interesting."
"This is great."Brock said. "Choosing Grotle is the best option for battling Bastiodon since their both heavyweights."
"Your right, Brock."Ash remarked.
"Use Iron Defence!"Byron ordered.
Bastiodon used Iron Defence to defend himself.
Denise bit her lip at the sight.
"We've got to lower Bastiodon's defence somehow."Denise thought and said. "Grotle use Take Down!"
Grotle charged towards Bastiodon.
"Bastiodon, Iron Head!"Byron ordered.
Bastiodon and Grotle bashed against each other.
However Bastiodon was able to sent Grotle tumbling on the ground.
"You okay, Grotle?"Denise asked.
Grotle carefully stood back on his feet.
"Grotle!"Grotle assured.
"Now Grotle use Seed Bomb!"Denise ordered.
Grotle slammed a barrage of hard-shelled seeds down on Bastiodon.
"Seed bomb seems to effect Bastiodon a little bit."Dawn said.
"That was bold using Grotle."Lucas complemented with a smile. "She may win this battle yet."
"Grotle, Solar Beam!"Denise ordered.
Grotle gathered sunlight from the sun and blasted a bundled beam towards Bastiodon.
"We're not done yet!"Byron shouted. "Bastiodon! Iron Defence!"
Bastiodon activated Iron Defence to protect itself from the beam.
Denise gritted her teeth at the sight.
Bastiodon's Iron Defence was really starting to annoy her.
"Bastiodon use Metal Burst!"Byron ordered.
Bastiodon glowed as it formed a white ball and blasted it at Grotle causing smoke to rise.
"Grotle! No!"Denise shouted in worry.
When the smoke cleared, it slowly revealed Grotle still standing, but was looking a bit exhausted.
"Grotle, can you still battle?"Denise asked.
Grotle winced a little and then started glowing.
"What?"Denise whispered.
Amazed looks appeared on Ash, Dawn, Lucas, Brock, Pikachu and Piplup's faces.
"Is that..."Lucas started.
"Grotle is evolving!"Brock stated.
Then the glowing stopped and it revealed a new pokemon.
"Torterra!"
"Whoa!"Denise remarked in astonishment. "Grotle! You've evolved to Torterra!"
"Terra."Torterra answered with a nod. "Torterra. Terra."
Denise smiled confidently at her starter pokemon.
"Your right!"Denise agreed. "We won't give up! Let's show them your new power!"
"So Grotle evolved, but this is not the end!"Byron warned. "Bastiodon use Iron Head!"
Bastiodon charged forward to hit Torterra.
"Torterra, do it now!"Denise ordered. "Use Earthquake!"
Torterra lifted his front two legs into the air and slammed them down into the ground.
When the Continent Pokemon did that, two pulses of energy erupt from his legs for a moment.
A crack then travelled long the ground and towards Bastiodon.
When it reached Bastiodon, the ground under it began to shake violently.
This caused Bastiodon to cry out in pain since it was weak against ground type moves.
"Let's end this!"Denise stated. "Use Solar Beam!"
"Bastiodon use Flash Cannon!"Byron ordered.
Torterra gathered energy from the sun and fired Solar Beam at Bastiodon, who fired Flash Cannon towards him.
The moves combined which caused a big explosion which blinded everyone.
When the smoke cleared, it showed Torterra and Bastiodon both still standing.
Suddenly Bastiodon collapsed on the battlefield and fainted.
"Bastiodon is unable to battle! Torterra wins!"Roark announced. "Which means the victor is Denise from Twinleaf Town!"
A happy gasp escaped Denise's mouth.
"Oh my gosh!"Denise cheered and rushed to hug Torterra. "Torterra! We did it! It's all thanks to you!"
"Terra."Torterra answered simply.
Pikachu and Piplup cheered at Denise's victory.
"Dennie did it!"Dawn squealed.
"That was great!"Ash laughed.
"I knew they could win this!"Lucas chuckled.
"Despite the odds, Denise and her pokemon were able to Byron's defence tactics."Brock admitted.
Roark smiled and looked at Byron, who returned Bastiodon in it's pokeball.
"Your okay, dad?"Roark asked.
"Hmm...my sturdy pokemon defeated!"Byron replied and cackled. "Either way, it was a great battle!"
Later that Evening...
Byron gives Denise her sixth gym battle while Torterra, Vaporeon and Drifblim stood behind her.
"Denise...you were strong enough to take down my prized team of pokemon."Byron stated. "In recognition of that power, I give you this: the Mine Badge."
Denise picked up the Mine Badge.
"Thank you, Byron."Denise responded and held up her sixth badge. "Yes! We got Number Six! The Mine Badge!"
Torterra, Vaporeon and Drifblim cheered at their victory as Ash, Pikachu, Lucas, Dawn, Piplup and Brock watched in approval.
"Gwahahahaha! The Sinnoh region is vast! Tough Trainers like you and your rival crops up constantly to challenge the old guard!"Byron commented. "With more young trainers like my son and you three taking charge, the future of pokemon is bright."
"It sounds like your planning to step aside."Lucas said.
"I'm not stepping aside just yet."Byron answered. "I merely need to rededicate myself to training on Iron Island before battling you."
"Just make sure you actually train this time, dad."Roark reminded.
Denise, Ash, Pikachu, Lucas, Dawn, Piplup and Brock laughed lightly at Roark's respond.
The Next Morning...
Ash and his friends prepared to head to Chocovine Town for Dawn and Denise's next Contest.
Ash looked at the sign which said none of the boats were planning to sail out.
"What?"Ash said sadly. "The boats aren't moving?"
"And the fastest way to get to Chocovine Town is by boat too."Dawn added.
"Piplup piplup."Piplup chirped sadly.
Denise folds he arms before she and her partners see a business man pass by.
"Excuse me."Dawn said. "Do you know why the boats aren't running?"
"Yes."the man answered. "It's because of them."
The man pointed at something and the heroes see a group of Wailord which blocked the Canalave harbour.
"Look at all the Wailord!"Ash and Dawn said in unison.
Dawn took out her Pokedex.
"Wailord the Float Whale Pokemon."Dawn's Pokedex said. "Wailord can dive nearly ten thousand feet on one breath."
"Unbelievable."Denise commented. "It's been almost a week and they are still there. Does anyone know why they are here?"
"Nobody really knows why, but those Wailord won't leave the harbour."the man commented.
"So the boats can't leave until they do, right?"Brock asked.
"Right."the man answered. "And I can't tell you what a headache it is to get to work now. Take care."
The business man walked away leaving Brock, Denise, Ash and Dawn alone.
"Thanks very much for your trouble."Brock said.
"What do we do?"Dawn asked.
Ash thought for a moment before his stomach started growling.
"My belly thinks we should get some food."Ash said sheepishly while blushing a little bit.
Brock, Dawn and Denise laughed nervously while Pikachu and Piplup sweat dropped.
A While Later...
The heroes decided to have a picnic to wait out the blockade.
Brock prepared lunch while Denise brought out a packet of homemade macarons from her backpack.
"It's good to take a break sometimes."Ash said.
"Plus it is a nice day."Dawn agreed.
"And the air is refreshing too."Denise chuckled.
"Right, lunch is served."Brock stated.
"Great!"Ash remarked. "I'm starved!"
"Pikachu."Pikachu agreed.
A pair of eyes were watching the group while hiding in the bushes.
"I've got my special pokemon food for Pikachu and Piplup."Brock said.
"And I've got my delicious macarons for all of us to enjoy too."Denise remarked.
Suddenly the packet that Brock held vanished, which surprised everyone.
Dawn, Ash, Denise, Brock, Pikachu and Piplup see the figure who stole the packet was a Luxio.
"Luxio?"Denise said in confusion. "How did you get out of your pokeball?"
Suddenly a pokeball from Denise's backpack opened and her Luxio came out.
Luxio glared at the wild Luxio.
"Luxio!"Luxio growled.
"Lux."the wild Luxio muttered.
"So that one is a wild Luxio."Ash said.
Then the packet that Denise held disappeared as well.
"What the?!"Denise started.
A little figure went next to the wild Luxio while holding Denise's packet in it's beak.
It was a small chick pokemon with stubby, downy, yellow wings. It's body was covered with orange feathers. There was an orange and yellow crest on it's head that resembles a flame. It's two thin legs and short beak were a light brownish yellow and the feet had three toes in front and one in the back.
"Who is that pokemon?"Denise asked.
"That's a Torchic!"Ash replied.
Denise took out her pokedex to scan the fire type pokemon.
"Torchic the Chick Pokemon."Denise's Pokedex said. "A fire burns inside, so it feels very warm to hug. It launches fireballs of 1,800 degrees F."
Piplup launched forward, only to get hit by the wild Luxio's spark.
"Piplup!"Dawn shouted.
"You can't do that!"Ash snapped. "Pikachu go get'm!"
Torchic dropped Denise's packet and fires Ember at Ash causing the Pallet Town Trainer to drop on the floor.
"Ash!"Denise cried out and looked at Luxio. "Go help Pikachu, Luxio!"
Luxio nodded and followed Pikachu to catch the wild Luxio and Torchic.
Pikachu caught the wild Luxio while Luxio pinned Torchic down.
However a Whismur and a male Nidoran attacked Pikachu and Luxio, which caused the wild Luxio and Torchic to flee.
"Come back!"Ash demanded.
"That's not your food!"Denise snapped.
Whismur and Nidoran sticked their tongues out at the heroes before following the wild Luxio and Torchic.
"Stop, thieves!"Brock shouted.
The heroes started chasing after Whismur, Nidoran, wild Luxio and Torchic.
Denise helped Ash up as Dawn picked up Piplup.
"They act like they're some sort of team."Ash said.
"It sure looks that way."Brock agreed.
"The wild Luxio must be the leader."Denise suggested.
Piplup woke up and started angrily chirping before chasing after the stray pokemon.
Pikachu and Luxio followed after their friend.
"Piplup!"Dawn shouted.
"Pikachu!"Ash called out.
"Luxio!"Denise yelled.
The heroes started running to go after Piplup, Pikachu and Luxio.
Whismur, Nidoran, wild Luxio and Torchic escaped through a manhole that lead to the sewers.
Suddenly Team Rocket showed up in front of the heroes while riding on another machine.
"Team Rocket!"Ash scowled.
"Move out the way, creeps!"Denise retorted. "We got no time for this!"
The claws of the machine launched forward to grab Pikachu and Luxio.
"Pikachu!"Ash shouted.
"Luxio!"Denise gasped.
Ash grabbed Pikachu while Denise held and rolled Luxio out of the way.
Ash ended up falling into the man hole to avoid the machine.
"Oh no, Ash!"Denise gasped.
Denise and Luxio jumped over the claw to go into the manhole before the cover closed.
"It's no holes barred!"Jessie snickered.
"Yeah!"Meowth agreed evilly. "We eat manhole covers for lunch!"
Meowth made the machine claw lock the manhole tight.
"Hey! Turn it loose!"Jessie complained. "Don't bend it!"
"We didn't bring a can opener!"James reminded.
"Now Piplup use Whirlpool!"Dawn ordered.
Piplup did Whirlpool to trap Team Rocket's machine.
"AHHH!"Team Rocket yelled out. "Brain Drain!"
When the machine got trapped in the Whirlpool, it exploded which send Team Rocket blasting off.
"Not another machine!"Meowth complained.
"Those twerps are so mean!"Jessie and James shouted.
Team Rocket disappeared into the sky along with Wobbuffet.
Brock, Piplup and Dawn rushed over to the bent.
"Ash! Dennie!"Dawn shouted. "Are you two okay?!"
Inside the Sewers...
"Yeah!"Ash called out. "We're alright!"
"But it looks like we're stuck down here!"Denise stated.
"We've got to get this manhole open."Dawn suggested.
"Piplup piplup."Piplup volunteered confidently.
Piplup tried to open the manhole, but it was shut tight.
The Penguin Pokemon dropped on the floor in exhaustion.
"You've tried, but it's the thought that counts."Dawn said simply.
"The manhole is so bent and this could be a problem."Brock responded.
"Ash! Dennie!"Dawn shouted. "The manhole is so mushed! It won't open!"
"It's okay!"Ash's voice assured.
"We'll find another way out!"Denise replied.
Inside the Sewers...
Ash and Denise walked together as Pikachu and Luxio stood closely next to their trainers.
"Wow, I guess this whole canal is beneath the whole town."Ash commented.
"Pika."Pikachu said.
"Do you think maybe those four thieves steal and escape using the sewers?"Denise asked.
"Maybe, Dennie."Ash replied. "This place is so huge, I think we could get lost here big time."
Ash and Denise took out the pokeballs that contained their water types inside.
"Alright, Buizel!"Ash stated. "I choose you!"
"Vaporeon!"Denise said. "You come out too!"
The pokeballs opened causing Buizel and Vaporeon to come out.
"Bui bui!"
"Vaporeon!"
Buizel and Vaporeon landed into the water.
"Hey, you two!"Ash called out. "We need you to find us a way out of here, okay?"
Both Buizel and Vaporeon nodded before they started swimming to the right causing the young trainers and their two pokemon to follow after them.
Suddenly Whismur, Nidoran, wild Luxio and Torchic showed up from one of the entrances.
"Hey, look!"Ash said. "It's those guys!"
The wild Luxio launched a Spark causing Luxio to go forward and counter it with his own Spark.
"Hey, come on! We didn't do anything wrong!"Ash snapped. "So what was that for?!"
The wild Luxio used Iron Tail and Torchic used Fire Spin.
"You ask for it!"Ash warned. "Buizel use Aqua Jet!"
"Quick, Vaporeon use Water Gun!"Denise ordered.
Buizel use Aqua Jet to counter the wild Luxio's Iron Tail while Vaporeon used Water Gun to stop Torchic's Fire Spin.
Nidoran fired Poison Sting at Ash and Denise causing the two trainers to duck down.
When the smoke cleared, it showed the stray pokemon were gone.
"Great."Denise scoffed. "They got away again."
"Man, those four can sure move past."Ash commented.
Ash and Denise started running on the side with Buizel and Vaporeon swimming in the water.
Suddenly there was a strange sound that echoed in the sewers.
"Did you hear that?"Ash asked.
"Pika?"Pikachu said.
"Whatever it is, it sounds like it's close."Denise responded.
"Luxio."Luxio agreed.
Buizel and Vaporeon pointed where the noise was coming from.
Ash, Denise, Pikachu, Luxio, Buizel and Vaporeon peeked their heads to the location of the noise.
There they saw Whismur, Nidoran, wild Luxio and Torchic next to a Wailmer.
"It's a Wailmer and those guys again."Ash said.
"Now it makes sense."Denise stated. "They stole our food so that they can feed that Wailmer."
Whismur, Nidoran, wild Luxio and Torchic started pushing the Wailmer, but the ball whale pokemon was too heavy.
When the Whismur, Nidoran, wild Luxio and Torchic saw the group, they went in their fighting positions.
"Hey guys, we can help you take the Wailmer back into the water."Ash requested.
"Yeah, we're not going to hurt you."Denise assured kindly.
Ash, Denise, Pikachu, Luxio, Buizel and Vaporeon began to push Wailmer in order to bring it back to the water.
Luxio started talking to the wild Luxio.
"Lux luxio."Luxio explained.
The wild Luxio stopped growling and decided to help along with Torchic, Whismur and Nidoran.
The group and the stray pokemon began to work together in order to bring Wailmer in the water.
However the poor Wailmer stood where it was.
"No, good."Ash stated. "This Wailmer is not budging a bit."
"So what can we do?"Denise asked.
"Let me think..."Ash started and took out his pokedex.
"Wailmer the Ball Whale Pokemon."Ash's Pokedex said. "It spouts water out of it's nose and becomes lethargic when it's body becomes dry."
"Lethargic when it's body becomes dry? Hey! That's it!"Ash remarked. "Let's get Wailmer some water and that'll do the trick."
"Is it okay, if you two give Wailmer some water?"Denise asked.
Buizel nodded. "Bui bui."
"Vaporeon."Vaporeon agreed.
Buizel and Vaporeon both used Water Gun on Wailmer to make it's body wet.
Wailmer happily bounced on the floor and splashed into the water causing everyone to get wet.
"That worked like a charm!"Ash laughed.
"Looks like Wailmer is all better now."Denise giggled.
Denise notice Torchic shaking the water off his body.
"You don't like getting wet?"Denise asked with a smirk.
"Torchic torchic!"Torchic chirped angrily.
Ash gave a smile at the wild Luxio, who gave a smirk, only for it to turn from a smirk to a frown.
"But what is a Wailmer doing way out here?"Ash asked.
"Wailmer wailmer."Wailmer said sadly.
"I wonder if it has something to do with the Wailord hanging out in the harbour?"Ash said and looked at Wailmer. "Did you get separated from those group of Wailord?"
"Wailmer."Wailmer cried.
The wild Luxio, Torchic, Whismur and Nidoran began walking away and Wailmer began following them.
"The wild Luxio must be leading the Wailmer back where the Wailord are."Denise commented.
"Great!"Ash admitted with a smile. "Let's finish where we started and help them out!"
"Pikachu!"Pikachu chuckled.
"Luxio."Luxio responded.
Meanwhile...
Happiny tried to make the manhole, but it was shut tight.
"Not even Happiny can open it."Brock said.
"I know!"Dawn remarked. "Let's get Mamoswine to solve this!"
The pokeball opened and Mamoswine came out.
"Now Mamoswine I want you to open up the manhole cover!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine didn't listen to Dawn.
"Not again!"Dawn complained. "Mamoswine would you please listen for a change?!"
Dawn sighed and brought out a basket of poffins.
"Well, I tried. I guess that leaves me with no choice."Dawn commented and smiled. "Look Mamoswine, if you open the manhole cover, you can have all these delicious Poffins."
Mamoswine happily charged at Dawn and stomped on the ground, opening the manhole cover and sending Dawn and her Poffins into the air.
"Dawn!"Brock shouted.
Mamoswine eats the Poffins as they fall while Happiny caught Dawn.
In the Sewers...
Ash, Denise, Luxio, Pikachu, wild Luxio, Torchic, Whismur and Nidoran walked together while Wailmer, Buizel and Vaporeon swam in the water.
The group arrived to area where there were lots of wild pokemon like Mothim, Zubats, Spheal, Venonat, Teddiursa and Rattata.
"Whoa, Zubat and Mothim!"Ash said in awe.
"There are so many wild pokemon down here!"Denise complemented. "Who would've thought?"
Ash and Denise watched watched as some of the Nidoran and Rattata gathered around the wild Luxio, who gave them a smile.
"Luxio, I get the feeling that you're their leader, right?"Ash asked.
"Luxio lux luxio."the wild Luxio answered.
"Well that explains why you wanted to help Wailmer when it wondered down here."Denise chuckled. "Then again my Luxio can be a general in my own team."
Luxio blushed a little at Denise's respond while Vaporeon giggled mischievously.
"Everybody's helping each other..."Ash said.
"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.
"Bui bui."Buizel replied.
"So let's make sure we help them out with Wailmer."Denise stated confidently.
"Luxio!"Luxio remarked.
"Vaporeon."Vaporeon answered gently.
The group arrived near a small waterfall drop.
"So you're telling me you fell all the way down from there?"Ash asked.
"Wailmer."Wailmer responded.
"I guess we need to figure out how to get you back up there."Denise suggested.
"Yeah, but it won't be easy."Ash commented.
Torchic looked at Denise.
"Torchic torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"You got an idea, Torchic?"Denise asked.
"Tor torchic."Torchic replied confidently.
Torchic's plan turned out to be the group using a rope to pull Wailmer up.
Buizel and Vaporeon were underwater to push Wailmer from the bottom.
"Hang on tight, okay?"Ash instructed.
"One, two, three...pull!"Denise shouted.
Everyone began to carefully pull the rope together to lift Wailmer up.
"Harder!"Ash yelled.
With a rope and the help of the stray pokemon, the two trainers and their pokemon were able to pull Wailmer over the drop.
The wild Luxio, Torchic, Whismur and Nidoran cheered that the plan has worked.
"Wow!"Ash chuckled. "We did it!"
"Now Wailmer can go home!"Denise remarked.
However when the group continued walking in the sewers, they got blocked by a drop which was much bigger than the last one.
"You've got to be kidding!"Ash groaned.
"Not a bigger one!"Denise scowled.
Torchic sweat dropped and looked down causing Luxio to simply pat his head.
Wailmer began to cry in sorrow.
"Listen, we promised you that we get you back to your group and we meant it!"Ash reminded and looked at the wild Luxio. "Do you think you can get all of your friends to help us, Luxio?"
"Lux luxio!"Wild Luxio answered firmly.
The group started heading back to where the other stray pokemon were.
Piplup, Brock and Dawn arrived at the top drop.
"Piplup piplup!"Piplup said.
"Piplup, are you sure we're heading the right way?"Dawn asked.
Brock and Piplup looked around.
"There is nobody here!"Dawn reminded.
Piplup sighed sadly as he walked away with Brock and Dawn.
Ash asked the stray pokemon to help get Wailmer back to it's group.
"Okay, you get it?"Ash asked. "That's why we need everybody to help us!"
"Pika pika!"Pikachu said.
"Lux luxio!"Wild Luxio commented.
All the Mothim, Zubats, Spheal, Venonat, Teddiursa and Rattata all agreed to help the group out.
"Yeah!"Ash remarked with a smirk. "We'll definitely do it now!"
The wild Luxio zaps Ash with electricity causing the Pallet Trainer to chuckle sheepishly.
"I guess your saying we should thank them first."Ash responded.
"Luxio."Wild Luxio agreed.
"Silly Ash."Denise joked.
Torchic, Luxio and Vaporeon all spoke in agreement.
A while later, the stray pokemon gathered around the group.
"Ash and I are gonna tell all of you our plan."Denise admitted. "So listen very carefully."
"First the Spheal are going to use Ice Beam to make an ice ramp that leads straight to the top. We're going to make a slide."Ash explained. "Next we'll make a sledge using the furniture we get from the Teddiursa. Then Buizel, Vaporeon and the Spheal are going to push the sledge with all their might while Wailmer is riding on top of it. And once the sledge really gets moving, it's Pikachu and wild Luxio's turn."
"You two will unleash a couple of powerful Iron Tails on the sledge so that it starts moving."Denise stated. "Once the sledge will have enough speed to shoot up the ice slide right along with Wailmer. When that is done, Wailmer is back to it's group."
"So are we good everybody?"Ash asked.
Luxio, Vaporeon, Pikachu, Buizel along with wild Luxio, Torchic, Whismur, Nidoran and the other stray pokemon all shouted in agreement.
"Cool!"Ash replied. "Let's do this!"
"Yeah!"Denise chuckled.
The two trainers and the group of pokemon began working together to make the slide and shape it, then they craft the sledge.
"Nice!"Ash replied. "Now that's one frozen slide!"
The Zubats placed the sledge into the water.
"Looks like we're all set!"Denise announced before looking at Pikachu and the wild Luxio. "Are you two, ready?"
"Pika pika!"Pikachu answered.
"Luxio!"Wild Luxio called out.
"Okay! Buizel! Vaporeon! Spheal!"Ash said. "Push Wailmer as hard as you can!"
Buizel, Vaporeon and the Spheal pushed the sledge and get Wailmer on the slide.
"Keep it up just like that!"Ash encouraged. "But give it more power!"
Buizel, Vaporeon and the Spheal brought the sledge into the ice slide.
"Pikachu! Luxio!"Denise shouted. "Your turn! Use Iron Tail!"
Pikachu and Luxio use Iron Tail to power up the sledge.
The plan seemed to be working until the ramp crumbled half-way and Wailmer was struggling air-born.
The wild Luxio used another Iron Tail and a Venonat jumped into the Wailmer.
A Venonat asks Luxio to hit it up, which knocked Wailmer the rest of the way up the drop.
Ash, Denise and the pokemon cheered at their success.
Ash, Denise, Pikachu and Luxio continued walking with Wailmer swimming in the water while the wild Luxio and Torchic.
"Things got a little hairy there, didn't it?"Ash asked.
"Wailmer."Wailmer agreed with a smile.
Something ahead caught Denise and Luxio's attention.
"Luxio!"Luxio replied.
"Ash, look!"Denise insisted.
Ash and Pikachu followed their friends gazes and saw the exit ahead.
"That must be the exit!"Ash complemented.
"Pika!"Pikachu gasped excitedly.
Piplup, Dawn and Brock came out from a nearby entrance.
"Come on, Piplup."Dawn begged. "That's enough. I'm exhausted."
"Dawn and Brock!"Ash remarked.
"You found us!"Denise chuckled.
"Ash! Dennie!"Dawn called out.
"Piplup!"Piplup cheered and frowned at Dawn. "Piplup piplup!"
"Okay, Piplup."Dawn giggled and bend down. "I deserve that and thank you."
Ash and Denise began explaining to Dawn and Brock of the situation.
"Now I get it."Brock stated. "So Luxio and Torchic stole the pokemon food for the Wailmer."
"Wow."Dawn replied. "I bet the Wailord are wondering what happened."
Suddenly Luxio and the wild Luxio became alarmed since they sensed something was close to them.
The wild Luxio gives a little electricity to Ash while Torchic hid behind Denise's legs in fright.
"Torchic torchic."Torchic whimpered.
"Is something wrong?"Denise asked.
"It seems the wild Luxio and Torchic are trying to tell us something."Brock commented.
"Is there something going on we need to be concerned about?"Ash questioned.
When the group were in sight of the exit,
"Swampert!"A creepy voice said. "Swampert!"
An angry Swampert comes out of the water.
"A Swampert."Ash said quietly and took out his pokedex.
"Swampert the Mud Fish Pokemon."Ash's Pokedex said. "Swampert is a powerful Pokemon that can drag even a large ship, as well as inflict critical damage to its enemies with one blow."
Swampert fires Mud Shot causing the group to dodge the attack.
"You and Torchic were trying to warn us that we arrived to Swampert's territory, isn't Luxio?"Denise asked.
"Luxio."Wild Luxio answered.
"Swampert, we didn't come to mess in your territory!"Ash protested.
Swampert didn't listen and continued attacking with Mud Shot.
"Ugh! We got no other choice!"Ash growled. "Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Don't do it, Ash!"Brock shouted. "Swampert is a ground type! Electric attacks won't have any effect on it!"
"Your right!"Ash agreed and threw out a pokeball. "Stand back, Pikachu! Grotle, I choose you!"
The pokeball opened and Grotle appeared in the area.
"Grotle!"
Grotle gets hit by Swampert on the head.
"Grotle use Razor Leaf!"Ash ordered.
Grotle defeats the Swampert with Razor Leaf.
Seeing their chance, the group quickly ran past the fainted pokemon.
"Sorry about that Swampert!"Ash apologised.
The group brightened up when they were out of the sewers.
"Finally!"Ash responded. "It's great to be outside again!"
"Go on Wailmer."Denise encouraged. "You free to go."
"Yeah, your friends are waiting."Dawn agreed.
Wailmer began swimming to the drawbridge.
"It's going to be just fine."Brock said.
Suddenly Wailmer started evolving right before he gets past a bridge which astonished the group.
The glowing stopped revealing Wailmer had evolved into Wailord.
"It evolved into a Wailord!"Ash commented.
"It can't fit under the bridge!"Dawn replied sadly.
"I'm sure that it's a drawbridge, so the span is able to lift up."Brock complemented.
"We need to get the control room and fast!"Denise said firmly.
The group headed to the control room.
"Can you move it?"Ash asked.
"No."Brock responded. "I'm afraid we can't get the bridge to open, if we don't have a key."
"Okay, go Pikachu!"Ash ordered.
"What are you doing?"Dawn demanded.
Pikachu went off of Ash's shoulder and removed the small door where the wires were.
"That's crazy!"Dawn argued.
"True, but we have to try, sis!"Denise reminded and looked at Luxio. "Luxio help Pikachu out!"
Luxio charged electricity in the wires to help Pikachu.
The screen showed the small hand moving a little from 0.
"It's moving!"Ash said.
"Yeah, but we still don't have enough power!"Brock admitted.
Wailord let out a sad whimper as Swampert was approaching it.
"Oh no!"Ash shouted. "Not again! Swampert!"
Ash headed out of the control room.
"Brock! Dawn! Dennie! You take care of things here!"Ash instructed. "I'll stop Swampert!"
Ash went into the water and swam next to Wailord to protect it.
"Swampert! Stop!"Ash protested. "We are trying to bring Wailord back to it's group!"
Swampert continued swimming towards Wailord and Ash.
The Wild Luxio went next to Pikachu and Luxio to put electricity in the wires as well.
"Now Pachirisu help us!"Dawn ordered.
The pokeball opened and Pachirisu appeared in the room.
Using Pikachu, Luxio, Wild Luxio and Pachirisu, the four pokemon try to override the controls with electricity to raise the bridge, but they weren't enough alone.
The drawbridge slowly started to move up.
"Good!"Brock remarked. "Just a little bit more!"
Torchic watched the sight in worry before an idea popped into his head.
"Torchic! Torchic!"Torchic shouted out. "Torchic!"
Torchic lets out a cry, calling all the sewer pokemon to come and help.
Male Nidoran and Rattata come and power the machine as well by using Shock Wave.
The power of the drawbridge went higher and straight to maximum power.
"Now that's what I call power!"Brock chuckled.
With so much power, the drawbridge rose up and made a big entrance.
"It opened!"Ash called out. "Wailord get moving!"
Wailord passed underneath the drawbridge and the wave it leaves behind caused Swampert to be engulfed and leave the area.
"Yeah!"Ash laughed and punched the air.
Pikachu, Piplup, Luxio, Wild Luxio, Torchic, Nidoran and Rattata cheered at their victory.
Denise helped Ash back to the surface.
The Wailord rejoined it's friends and they spray water to make a rainbow for the group.
"Wow!"Brock commented. "It's beautiful!"
"Piplup."Piplup chirped.
"Maybe that's their way of thanking us for helping them."Dawn said kindly.
"We all did such a great job."Denise chuckled proudly.
"Yeah."Ash agreed with a smile and looked at the wild Luxio. "Luxio, I won't forget any of you guys as long as I live."
Luxio gives Ash a spark pat causing the Pallet Town Trainer to laugh lightly.
"Hey, your welcome."Ash laughed. "If that's a thank you."
Later that Evening...
The heroes watched as Wailord swam away with it's friends.
"Well, guess we can get back to the road now."Brock admitted.
"Right."Ash replied and rubbed his stomach. "But my stomach is saying we ought to take a little break at the Pokemon Center, you know?"
"When it comes to Ash's stomach, missing lunch is a no-no."Dawn giggled.
"That is totally true."Denise said with her arms folded.
"No! I mean yeah!"Ash argued.
Brock, Dawn and Denise burst out laughing.
"Torchic."
The four heroes and Pikachu notice Torchic standing not far from where they stood.
"It's Torchic."Ash said.
"Pika."Pikachu responded.
"What's it doing out here?"Dawn asked.
"Torchic."Torchic chirped with a smile and went up to Denise. "Torchic."
Torchic started snuggling against Denise's legs.
"Uh..."Denise started.
"It looks like Torchic wants you to catch him, Denise."Brock remarked.
"Is that true, Torchic?"Denise asked as she bend down. "You want to join my team?"
"Torchic tor!"Torchic chirped happily.
A bright smile grew on Denise's face as she stood up.
"Okay then. In that case..."Denise started and took out a pokeball. "Go, pokeball!"
Denise launched a pokeball and Torchic got into it.
The pokeball shook a little bit and then stopped.
Torchic was caught!
Denise chuckled as she picked up the pokeball.
"Yes!"Denise laughed in joy. "I got a Torchic!"
Suddenly the pokeball vanished from Denise's hand.
"Huh?!"Denise said in surprise. "It''s gone?!"
"What happened?!"Dawn asked in shock. "Where did it go?"
"Piplup!"Piplup gasped.
"Oh right."Ash chuckled. "A trainer can only keep six pokemon, so Torchic got transported to the place where you got your pokedex."
"So Torchic got transported to Professor Rowan's lab?"Denise questioned.
"That's right."Brock agreed with a nod. "So Torchic is in safe hands."
"Okay."Denise said with a smile and started running away. "Last one to the Pokemon Center is sleeping on the ground!"
"Dennie! Wait up!"Ash protested.
"No fair!"Dawn complained.
"We can't run as fast as you!"Brock argued.
Denise, Ash, Dawn and Brock raced to the pokemon center as the sun was setting down in the horizon.
