Chapter 110: Saving the World from Ruins!

After succumbing to Team Galactic's low frequency energy, Lucario prepared to lash Ash and his friends with an Aura Sphere.

However Riley used his aura to protect him and the heroes from Lucario's attack.

Ash, Denise, Dawn, Brock, Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic stared at the shield in amazement.

"Is this an aura?!"Ash asked in awe.

Brock looked at Riley.

"You can work with auras too, Riley?"Brock asked.

"The truth is I have been training as a Aura Guardian with Lucario."Riley responded.

Lucario growled in pain while holding his head in pain.

"But why is Lucario acting that way?"Dawn questioned.

"Yeah."Denise agreed. "Wasn't Lucario protecting itself using it's aura?"

"Something far more powerful than Lucario's aura is coming from the ruins."Riley replied with a frown. "Too powerful for Lucario to protect itself against."

Lucario roared as he became possessed and activated Bone Rush to attack the Geodudes that were underground.

"Stop it, Lucario!"Ash demanded.

"Lucario, return!"Riley ordered.

Riley tried to recall Lucario into it's pokeball, but Lucario breaks it with an aggressive Bone Rush.

Lucario used his Bone Rush to hit Riley and prepared to hit him again.

"Lucario!"Ash shouted as he ran forward. "No!"

Ash rushed in and defends Riley from another strike of Bone Rush.

"Ash!"Denise cried out.

"Torchic!"Torchic gasped.

"Lucario, stop it!"Ash demanded.

Lucario deactivated Bone Rush and again held his head before letting out a roar.

Brock and Ash grab a hold of Lucario.

"Lucario!"Ash shouted. "Snap out of it!"

"Calm down!"Brock protested.

Dawn and Piplup went up to Riley to check if he was alright.

"Riley, are you okay?"Dawn asked worriedly.

"Plup."Piplup said sadly.

"I'm alright."Riley responded and looked at the two trainers. "Ash! Denise! Tell Pikachu and Torchic to use Thunderbolt and Fire Spin!"

"Huh?!"Denise said in shock.

"But Lucario is in pain!"Ash protested.

"Do it for Lucario!"Riley admitted.

Ash and Denise looked at Lucario quietly.

The beam that affects the Mount Coronet has attracted the attention of some scientists while the meteors from Veilstone City were firing the same beam.

"Use Thunderbolt and Fire Spin while you still can!"Riley demanded. "Hurry!"

Ash and Denise glanced at each other and nodded.

"Alright, Pikachu use Thunderbolt on Lucario!"Ash ordered.

"Torchic use Fire Spin on Lucario too!"Denise ordered.

Pikachu used Thunderbolt and Torchic used Fire Spin on Lucario.

However the Aura Pokemon continued to behave irately and runs directly to the wave-emitting ruins.

"After Lucario!"Ash stated.

"He must be going to the ruins!"Denise replied as she picked up Torchic.

The heroes and Riley began going after Lucario.

Lucario jump down and headed to the source of the beam which was where Team Galactic were.

"These Steel Types are so annoying!"Mars scowled. "Purugly, chase it away!"

Purugly and a bunch of Golbat rushed towards Lucario.

Lucario used Aura Sphere, but the group of Golbat attacked him using Shadow Ball.

Purugly used Fury Swipes on the Aura Pokemon, sending him slamming against a van and drop of the ground.

"Lucario!"Ash called out.

Lucario's eyes glowed blue as he tried to reach for the machine, but fell unconscious.

"Oh no!"Denise shouted.

"Riley, we got to do something!"Ash admitted.

"Not so fast!"Riley replied. "Let's destroy that machine first!"

"Riley, do you think that's what's causing all the Steel Types to all be in agony?"Brock asked.

"Not sure, but with Lucario going after it with such a vengeance then it's got to be worth a try!"Riley complemented.

"Right!"Ash agreed.

"Let's do this!"Denise commented firmly.

Riley, Ash, Denise and Brock leapt over a giant hole, where Barry and Team Rocket were.

"Ash?"Barry said. "Denise?"

Piplup tried to jump over the giant hole, he failed and ended up falling into it.

"Oh no, Piplup!"Dawn shouted.

Piplup fell into the giant hole and got caught by Barry.

"Whoa, Piplup?"Barry said in surprise.

"Barry?"Dawn asked.

"What do you know."Barry remarked. "It's Dawn!"

"Twerpett?!"James, Jessie and Meowth responded in unison.

"What's Team Rocket doing down there?"Dawn questioned quietly and looked at her companions. "I found Barry!"

Ash, Denise, Riley and Brock stopped running to look at Dawn.

"Is that who your looking for?"Riley asked.

"That's him."Ash agreed and looked at Dawn. "Do you need help?"

"No."Dawn responded. "I'll be fine. You guys just go on ahead."

"Okay but be careful, sis."Denise warned.

The group ran off as Dawn took out a rope before tying it to a rock to help Barry and Team Rocket out of the hole.

"What a gal."Jessie remarked.

"Quick! Grab on!"Dawn instructed.

Barry and Team Rocket grab the rope at the same time.

"What are you doing?"Barry demanded.

"What you're not doing!"Team Rocket scowled.

"It really doesn't matter who goes first, so somebody just-"Dawn started.

Suddenly a Steelix emerged from the ground causing Dawn to fall into the giant hole.

"Dawn!"Denise cried out in shock.

Dawn fell into the giant hole and landed on Barry.

"I'm going to fine you for falling on me!"Barry snapped angrily.

"Sorry."Dawn chuckled weakly.

Team Rocket sighed at the failed rescue plan.

"I should have known..."Jessie started.

"Never trust a twerp."Meowth finished.

Suddenly the Wild Steelix was coming towards the two trainers and Team Rocket.

"It's a Steelix!"Barry said in shock.

"Straight right us!"Dawn gasped.

James hugged Mime Jr and Carnivine in fear.

"No matter what happens, old chums!"James cried. "We're all in this together!"

"Mime mime."Mime Jr said.

"Carnivine."Carnivine replied.

Riley used his Aura to protect Barry, Dawn and Team Rocket from Steelix.

"Riley!"Dawn remarked happily. "Great!"

"I give, who's Riley?"Barry asked.

Ash, Pikachu, Denise, Torchic and Brock rushed up to Riley.

"Riley!"Ash called out.

"I'll handle this!"Riley assured. "But meanwhile, you guys go and take care of that machine!"

Ash nodded. "Okay!"

"We're counting you, Riley."Denise commented.

"Staravia, I choose you!"Ash stated.

The pokeball opened and Staravia appeared in the battlefield.

"Staravia!"

"Sudowoodo! Croagunk!"Brock shouted. "Let's go!"

Brock threw out his pokeballs causing Sudowoodo and Croagunk to appear.

"Kirlia, come out and help!"Denise stated.

Denise's pokeball opened and Kirlia appeared.

"Kirlia!"

"We'll distract Team Galactic while at the same time, you two blow that machine to bits."Brock instructed.

"Right, Brock!"Ash and Dawn said in unison.

Brock, Ash, Denise and their pokemon (minus Staravia) slide down to the crater and Mars recognises them.

"Not them!"Mars growled. "What do they want!? Don't let them get any closer!"

Purugly and the group of Golbat launched forward to attack the group.

Ash, Denise, Brock and their pokemon rushed passed where Lucario stood.

"Just hang in there, Lucario!"Ash begged. "Staravia, take Pikachu and get going!"

Staravia gets Pikachu to face the group of Golbat.

"Sudowoodo use Double Edge and Croagunk use Brick Break!"Brock ordered.

Sudowoodo's Double Edge and Croagunk's Brick Break get the Golbat away.

Torchic and Kirlia rushed to the other group of Golbat.

"Torchic, Hidden Power!"Denise ordered. "Kirlia use Psychic!"

Torchic used Hidden Power and Kirlia used Psychic to take out the other group of Golbat.

Mars notice Staravia and Pikachu going to the other side.

"What are they doing?"Mars asked.

Staravia and Pikachu headed towards the machine.

"Now I know what they want!"Mars retorted and took out her comlink. "Headquarters, this is G-2! There's a problem!"

In Team Galactic's Headquarters...

"Roger."Saturn replied and looked at Cyrus. "I regret to say this, but Mars reported that Level E is having trouble."

Cyrus gritted his teeth, knowing who were responsible for this.

"It's them."Cyrus muttered.

Back in Iron Island...

Riley was having trouble protecting Dawn, Barry and Team Rocket from Steelix until a pokemon using Flame Wheel attacked the wild steel ground type pokemon.

The Flame Wheel brushed away revealing to be a Monferno as Lucas rushed up to Riley.

"Are you alright, sir?"Lucas asked.

"I am, thank you."Riley replied.

The wild Steelix recovered and stood up from the ground, ready to attack again.

Monferno glared at Steelix.

"We can't let that Steelix go into that giant hole!"Riley stated.

"No problem."Lucas assured firmly and looked at Monferno. "Monferno use Flamethrower!"

Monferno leapt forward and used Flamethrower to attack Steelix.

In the Ruins of Iron Island...

"Quick, Staravia! Hurry!"Ash called out. "Pikachu, Thunderbolt! Go!"

Pikachu used Thunderbolt on the machine, but the Golbat protect it and get electrocuted instead.

"Stop them, Purugly!"Mars ordered.

Purugly activated Fury Swipes as she rushed toward to attack.

"No, you don't!"Denise scowled. "Kirlia use Ice Punch!"

Kirlia hits Purugly with Ice Punch.

"Purugly, Shadow Ball!"Mars ordered

"Dodge it, Kirlia!"Denise ordered.

Kirlia did a quick spin and dodged to avoid being hit by Purugly's ghost attack.

Staravia flew towards a bunch of Golbats that were guarding the machine.

"Staravia use Brave Bird!"Ash ordered.

Pikachu jumped off as Staravia used Brave Bird to take out the Golbats.

Kirlia attacked Purugly with Magical Leaf as the Tiger Cat pokemon hit her using Iron Tail.

"Hang in there, Kirlia!"Denise demanded. "Use Confusion!"

Mars was distracted by Denise before noticing Pikachu up in the air.

"What?!"Mars scowled.

"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!"Ash ordered.

"Torchic, Fire Spin!"Denise ordered.

Pikachu let out a Thunderbolt as Torchic leapt up from Denise's arm and fired Fire Spin to destroy the machine.

"No!"Mars growled.

"Yes!"Denise chuckled.

"Awesome!"Ash remarked.

A Golbat grabbed the artefact and handed it to Mars.

"As long as we have this, we'll be fine."Mars admitted.

With the machine destroyed, the ruins stopped glowing and the Steel-type Pokemon were no longer berserk.

Riley stopped using his aura when Steelix was no longer fighting Monferno and went away.

"It woke up."Riley said quietly.

"It looks like Dennie, Ash and Brock did it."Dawn complemented proudly.

"They did what?"Barry asked in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

Lucas let out a sigh of relief before looking underneath the giant hole.

"Are you all okay?!"Lucas called out.

"Lucas!"Dawn gasped with a smile.

"Piplup!"Piplup chirped.

"Way da go, Lucas!"Barry remarked and started to complain. "Wait a second! Where the heck were you?! I am so fining you for arriving late!"

"Glad I helped out."Lucas responded with a hint of annoyance.

"Ferno."Monferno snickered in amusement.

Ash, Denise and Brock smiled seeing Lucario and the other steel types were back to normal.

"Wow!"Ash remarked. "That machine really was the cause!"

"Now the Steel types are no longer out of control."Denise replied with a smile.

"I guess we did it."Brock chuckled.

Pikachu, Staravia, Torchic, Kirlia, Sudowoodo and Croagunk smiled at their victory.

In Team Galactic's Headquarters...

"The energy beam has been interrupted."Saturn stated. "We currently have 60% of Mount Coronet's scan, but as of this moment, we have yet to locate Spear Pillar."

"Instruct Mars to retreat, but also make sure that no one follows them."Cyrus ordered.

"But do we proceed as planned?"Saturn asked.

Cyrus smirked evilly. "Obliterate it."

In Iron Island...

"Retreat at once!"Mars ordered.

"Sir!"the Team Galactic Grunts answered in unison.

Ash, Denise, Brock, Riley and Lucario glared at Team Galactic, who were trying to escape.

"We can't let Team Galactic get away this time!"Ash retorted.

The group go after Team Galactic as Mars headed into a helicopter.

"Stop, Team Galactic!"Ash demanded.

"What are you doing here!?"Riley questioned. "What do you want!?"

"Alright, come any closer and I'll blow up the entire island."Mars warned as she held out a detonation button.

"Blow it up!?"Ash said in shock.

"You wired everything with bombs!?"Brock retorted.

"You monsters!"Denise growled angrily.

Riley glanced at Lucario.

"Lucario, find them all."Riley instructed.

Lucario closed his eyes to use his aura to search for the bombs.

"I'm not bluffing. I don't bluff."Mars responded. "We don't need your world, so we're simply going to destroy it! Understand? Meantime I'll press this when I feel like it. I hope you enjoy running."

Then Mars and the Team Galactic Grunts took off in their helicopter.

"Those jerks."Ash growled.

Denise glared at the helicopter in hatred.

"Darn them."Denise muttered coldly.

Lucario spoke to Riley.

"Good."Riley replied.

"So Riley did you locate the bombs?"Brock asked.

"No, Lucario did."Riley answered. "The explosives are all located below the ruins, but since you all saved Lucario and the other pokemon, I would say it's our turn now."

Lucario nodded in agreement.

"Lucario and I will take care of the bombs."Riley stated. "So you guys go and help your friends."

"Right!"Ash, Denise and Brock answered in unison.

Riley and Lucario went inside the ruins.

"Lucario, how many explosives?"Riley asked.

Lucario let out a startled growl.

"I can't even count them all!"Riley commented. "Dealing with the bomb is the last thing we need!"

Brock, Ash and Denise warn Lucas, Dawn, Barry and Team Rocket about the danger.

"WHAT?!"Lucas, Dawn, Barry and Team Rocket yelled out. "Dealing with the bomb is the last thing we need!"

Jessie looked at Seviper, Yanmega and Wobbuffet.

"You won't be safe out here."Jessie said worriedly. "Return!"

Jessie returned Seviper, Yanmega, and Wobbuffet into their pokeballs.

An idea came into Ash's mind.

"Oh, yeah!"Ash said in realisation and took out a pokeball. "Chimchar, come out!"

The pokeball opened and Chimchar appeared.

"Chimchar!"

Monferno became surprised seeing the pokemon which was his pre-evolved form.

"Would you use Dig to build a tunnel?"Ash asked.

"Chimchar."Chimchar responded happily.

"What a great idea!"Dawn called out.

"Good thinking, twerp!"Meowth remarked.

Monferno walked up to Chimchar.

"Monferno monferno."Monferno commented.

"Char?"Chimchar said in confusion.

"What is it, Monferno?"Ash asked.

Lucas realised what Monferno said to Chimchar.

"Wait hold a second, Ash."Lucas admitted. "I don't think Chimchar using Dig is not going to work."

"Lucas is right."Denise agreed as she bend down to touch the ground. "The ground is way too hard for Chimchar to use Dig."

"So that means we need a new plan."Brock complemented.

"Sorry, Chimchar."Ash apologised and took out the pokeball. "Return."

Ash returned Chimchar in it's pokeball.

"Aw, good idea too."Dawn sighed sadly.

"Piplup."Piplup chirped.

"Well, guess we're ka-put."Meowth groaned.

James hugged Mime Jr and Carnivine.

"I can't say goodbye to my mace with such a drastic course!"James cried in heartbreak.

James and Mime Jr began to cry as Carnivine quietly watched them.

Suddenly Carnivine began to glow green causing everyone in the giant hole to become surprised.

Then Carnivine used Vine Whip.

"Hey! That's Vine Whip!"Barry stated.

James and Mime Jr stared at Carnivine in amazement.

"Wow!"James cried in joy. "You learned Vine Whip, you crafty Carnivine!"

"Alright Grotle, pull up Carnivine now!"Ash ordered and threw out a pokeball.

The pokeball opened and Grotle came out.

"Grotle!"

Grotle grabbed the Vine Whip to pull Carnivine up.

Ash, Pikachu, Denise, Torchic, Lucas, Monferno and Brock smiled at Grotle.

"Yes!"Ash chuckled. "Good job!"

"Pika pika!"Pikachu cheered.

Then Carnivine used Vine Whip to help everyone out of the giant hole.

Piplup and Mime Jr were pulled out after Meowth.

"Your doing great."Ash assured. "Keep it up, Carnivine."

Brock sprayed Meowth's injured paw.

"There that would do it."Brock said gently.

"It pains me to say thanks."Meowth grumbled.

Denise looked at Lucas.

"So Barry called you to come and help out after you defeated Byron?"Denise asked.

"Yeah."Lucas responded and rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess he wasn't kidding when he said the steel types were going haywire."

Monferno nodded. "Monferno."

"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.

However when Dawn, Barry, Jessie and James were brought out of the giant hole, the ground started to shake violently.

"It's blowing!"Ash shouted.

"And what about Riley?!"Brock questioned.

Everyone dropped down and closed their eyes, waiting for the worst.

However the ground stopped causing the heroes and Team Rocket to become surprised.

"What happened?"Dawn asked.

"Piplup."Piplup replied gently.

"No boom?"Jessie and James said in unison.

"So it's over."Lucas suggested.

"Monferno."Monferno responded.

"How is it possible?"Brock asked in curiosity.

"Could it be..."Denise started.

Inside the Ruins...

Lucario and Riley used their Aura to encase the explosion.

"Come on!"Riley shouted. "Keep it up, Lucario!"

Ash, Denise, Lucas, Dawn, Barry, Brock and Team Rocket rushed to where the ruins were.

"What's going on?"Ash asked.

"What about Riley?"Dawn questioned.

"I hope he and Lucario are okay."Denise said worriedly.

Inside the Ruins...

Riley and Lucario were struggling to hold the explosion.

"Quick!"Riley shouted. "We have to get this out of the island now!"

Lucario growled in agreement.

"Okay!"Riley yelled out. "Let's go!"

Since it was hard to maintain, Riley and Lucario get the Aura up into the air and out of the ruins.

Then the explosion was spread in the air as the group watched in astonishment.

The island was safe!

James, Meowth and Jessie dropped in their knees in relief.

"Location, location."Team Rocket mumbled.

"Where's Riley and Lucario?"Ash asked.

"Look over there!"Dawn called out.

The smoke slowly cleared away revealing Lucario and Riley emerged from the ruins, a bit battered, but okay.

"They made it."Denise chuckled gently.

"Incredible."Lucas commented in surprise.

Riley was about to collapse but Ash caught him as he and his companions rushed up to him.

"Riley, are you okay?"Ash questioned.

"Yeah."Riley answered as he stood up.

"Was that the power of Aura?"Dawn asked.

"That's right."Riley agreed. "You know those bombs were powerful. But all's well that ends well."

Lucario spoke in agreement.

Suddenly the Steel-type Pokemon thank the heroes for their assistance.

Later that Evening...

The sun was slowly setting as Denise quietly stared at the horizon with Torchic in her arms.

The danger in Iron Island was gone, but Team Galactic was still out there.

"What are they trying to accomplish?"Denise thought with a glare. "I feel like there is something worse to come."

Ash walked up to Denise.

"Dennie, you okay?"Ash asked.

"Yeah, Ash."Denise assured as she turned around with a bright smile on her face. "Just admiring the sunset."

Suddenly a helicopter came down and Professor Carolina came out.

"Hey, it's Carolina!"Ash remarked.

Ash, Denise, Brock, Dawn, Barry, Lucas, Riley and Lucario rushed up to the old woman.

"If it isn't the upstarts."Professor Carolina commented.

"It's great to see you."Dawn commented kindly.

Professor Carolina glanced at the ruins.

"So that's it?"Professor Carolina asked. "The Iron Ruins. They really exist."

Then Carolina goes in the ruins with her team and discovered that the machine they used was made from the same material as the meteors from Veilstone City.

"Fascinating."Professor Carolina admitted as she checked her laptop. "This machine is made out of from the exact same compound as the meteors from Veilstone City."

"Veilstone City?"Ash repeated.

"Does that mean they made it out of the meteors they stole from the park?"Dawn asked.

"One of the Team Galactic's commander said they were going to create a new world when they attacked Veilstone City to steal the meteors."Denise stated.

"Almost certainly."Professor Carolina replied. "It's been said that Iron Island was originally an ancient meteor long ago."

"A meteor island?"Riley said and looked at the ruins. "Does that mean that the Iron Ruins were created from the meteor too?"

"I say so."Professor Carolina answered as she stood up. "Both the Iron Island ruins and this machine are giving off a special frequency. These frequencies have resonated creating a sound wave causing the Steel Types to go crazy."

"That's it."Ash answered.

"So you're saying that the entire island is made up of the same compound from Veilstone City meteors?"Riley questioned.

"Most likely Team Galactic was able to pinpoint the location of the Iron Ruins by using this."Professor Carolina explained. "This machine as a radar. Not only that, but it is also rumoured to reveal a location called the Spear Pillar which is now necessary to summon Dialga and Palkia into this world."

"The Spear Pillar?"Lucas said.

"Supposedly it's located somewhere in the Sinnoh region."Professor Carolina commented.

The group looked at Professor Carolina quietly.

"Your name's Riley, isn't it?"Professor Carolina asked as she turned to look at Riley. "I hear you've been on the island for a while. Would you be able to give us a little assistance while we survey the nearby areas?"

"Sure."Riley answered with a smile. "I'm always interested in learning more about this island."

The Next Morning...

It was time for Ash, Denise, Dawn and Brock to take the next boat to Chocovine Town.

Barry headed to the pier to say good-bye to his friends while Lucas went to see Riley.

"Sounds like you guys got caught up in something pretty complicated."Barry commented.

"Empoleon."Empoleon said.

"I guess we did."Ash agreed and became confident. "But my goal is to win the Sinnoh League! Getting my next badge is all I could think about!"

"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.

"Yeah, you sound like me. But I'm doing lots of training."Barry bragged. "You two just make sure you're in the Sinnoh League."

Both Ash and Denise nodded at Barry.

"Right."Ash agreed.

"And hopefully when we see you again you got the same out of badges like us."Denise remarked smugly.

"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever, Denise."Barry responded with a frown. "But I'll make sure to beat you next time."

"Good luck to you and Lucas, Barry."Dawn admitted.

"Piplup."Piplup chirped.

"Take good care."Brock stated.

Barry smiled and looked at Ash.

"If you happen to see Paul, you tell him there's a powerful opponent waiting for him and if you don't, I'll have to fine you."Barry warned.

Ash smiled sheepishly while Denise rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, right."Ash chuckled nervously. "See ya."

Ash shook hands with Barry and Pikachu shook hands with Empoleon.

Then Ash, Denise, Dawn and Brock went on the boat and waved good-bye to Barry and Empoleon.

The four heroes notice Lucas and his Monferno waving good-bye to them near a pile of rocks.

Denise notice Lucas holding something which appeared to be a Pokemon Egg causing her to become surprised a bit.

The Twinleaf Girl then simply smiled as she and her companions were now heading to Chocovine Town for the next Pokemon Contest.

Meanwhile...

Mars reported the failure of her mission to Cyrus, who sat between Jupiter and Saturn.

"I know our plans to obliterate the Iron Ruins was a failure and I ask for your forgiveness, Cyrus, sir."Mars apologised.

"A failed mission is nothing but a temporary setback. Regardless, we must move forward with our plan."Cyrus answered simply and looked at Saturn. "So Saturn, the excavation of the Spear Pillar will be led by you."

"As you wish, sir."Saturn responded.

Cyrus chuckled evilly as he looked at the screen that scanned on Mount Coronet.
