Chapter 111: Cheers on Castaways Isle!
Ash, Dawn, Denise and Brock are on a ship from Iron Island continuing onward to Chocovine Town, where Dawn and Denise were going to have their next Pokemon Contest.
Ash and Brock were taking in the fresh ocean air near the bow.
"Being out to sea is great, you know?"Ash remarked. "The air is so fresh!"
"It is a whole different than Iron Island that's for sure."Brock agreed. "I suggest we enjoy it while it lasts."
"Right."Ash responded with a nod.
Then Dawn and Denise came around the corner.
"Hey guys, have you seen Piplup and Torchic?"Dawn asked.
"We've looked inside our rooms, but they weren't there."Denise admitted. "Are they out here?"
"No."Ash answered. "Come to think of it, I haven't seen Pikachu either."
In an Operations Section of the Ship...
Piplup was exploring as Pikachu and Torchic followed him from behind.
"Piplup piplup."Piplup tweeted happily.
"Pikachu!"Pikachu protested.
"Torchic!"Torchic said angrily. "Torchic!"
When Piplup hops on an exposed moving gear system and used it as a treadmill.
Pikachu and Torchic tackled Piplup off to the other side.
Piplup glared at Pikachu and Torchic.
"Piplup piplup!"Piplup complained. "Piplup pip!"
"Pika pika pikachu!"Pikachu shouted.
"Torchic torchic!"Torchic snapped. "Torchic!"
Pikachu and Torchic rebuked Piplup, pointing out the danger he had put himself in.
Just then a disguised Team Rocket approached Pikachu, Torchic and Piplup.
"Joy and rapture! Reunited at last!"Jessie cried as she picked up Piplup. "Day and after endless day I've been searching for you!"
"Plup?"Piplup asked.
James and Meowth went between Jessie.
"Milady!"James and Meowth protested in unison.
"Please! Calm yourself!"James insisted. "I fear this is not your Piplup, milady!"
Jessie becomes angry and held Piplup tightly.
"Excuse me, you brainless name!"Jessie scowled. "I know my long lost Piplup and this is it!"
This caused Pikachu and Torchic to protest at the lady that Piplup was her pokemon.
"Pikachu!"Pikachu protested.
"Torchic!"Torchic said worriedly.
Meowth went next to Pikachu and Torchic.
"Stifle it!"Meowth sneered. "We're well aware that's not her Piplup, but we'd appreciate it if both of you kindly play along for a short while."
Jessie smiled at Piplup.
"Dear Piplup, hy don't we go and play catch up?"Jessie suggested as she walked away. "Come, come, sweetheart!"
"Piplup!"Piplup called out. "Piplup!"
Pikachu and Torchic tried to help Piplup, but James picked them up.
"You two as well?"James asked happily. "Well, of course you two can come."
"Pika!"Pikachu protested.
"Torchic!"Torchic panicked.
"Chill out!"Meowth suggested with a smirk. "No need to be shy, little buddies!"
Ash, Dawn, Denise and Brock walk to the stern looking for the three pokemon.
"Where did Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic go?"Ash asked.
"The minute I take my eyes off of Piplup then this happens."Dawn said worriedly.
"I hope the three went to play somewhere close."Denise commented.
"You know, Piplup is a curious pokemon."Brock stated. "Maybe Piplup is just exploring the boat with Pikachu and Torchic."
The four heroes reach the stern and catch Team Rocket entering their Magikarp Submarine, which was standing on suction cup feet on the deck.
Pipulp, Pikachu and Torchic in a glass capsule clamped onto the back.
"Team Rocket!"Ash, Dawn, Denise and Brock shouted angrily.
Pipulp, Pikachu and Torchic started calling out for their trainers to help them.
"Pikachu!"Ash said.
"Piplup!"Dawn shouted.
"Torchic!"Denise gasped.
"You give them back right now!"Ash demanded.
"So you say!"Jessie taunted.
"Pikachu is here to stay!"Team Rocket sang. "Sinnoh is where we like to play! We don't like you anyway!"
The Magikarp Submarine started moving and it jumped into the water.
"We'll put a stop to them!"Ash retorted and took out a pokeball. "Buizel! I choose you!"
"Vaporeon, come out and help too!"Denise ordered and threw out her pokeball.
The pokeballs opened causing Buizel and Vaporeon to appear in the water.
"Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic!"Ash called out. "I'm coming!"
"Hang on!"Denise shouted.
Ash and Denise dived into the water.
"Ash!"Brock and Dawn yelled. "Denise!"
Ash held onto Buizel's back while Denise held onto Vaporeon as they swam towards the Magikarp Submarine.
Buizel and Vaporeon zoomed in quick speed to go after their captured friends.
"That's twerp tenacity!"Jessie retorted.
"So we'll show them all our narrow escape as it's given us our pedalling power!"James stated.
Suddenly the Magikarp Submarine was suddenly and violently pulled into a whirlpool.
"Which don't mean squat when the current gets crazy!"Meowth panicked.
Buizel and Vaporeon stopped short of the current since they couldn't go any further.
As Team Rocket tried to stay in control of the cub, the violent shaking causes the clamp of Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic's capsule to open.
The capsule was then thrown into the current and smashed open against the rocky seafloor.
Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic were quickly swept away in the current.
Ash, Denise, Buizel and Vaporeon watched the sight in shock.
"Pikachu!"Ash shouted out.
Ash cries out in alarm causing him to lose air to breath.
"We need to go up!"Denise murmured.
Buizel and Vaporeon quickly rushed their trainers to the surface.
Team Rocket were also swept away, but in another direction.
"CURRENT, ONE!"Team Rocket screamed. "PEDALLING, ZERO!"
Beyond two large whirlpools, Ash, Buizel, Denise and Vaporeon break the surface.
Ash started coughing causing Denise to look at him.
"Ash..."Denise started worriedly.
"I'm fine, Dennie."Ash assured and looked at the whirlpools. "Aw, man..."
"I can't believe we failed."Denise said sadly.
Then a siren caught the two trainers and their pokemon's attention.
A police boat piloted by an Officer Jenny comes up beside them.
"Officer Jenny!"Ash remarked.
"Are you two, Ash and Denise?"Officer Jenny asked. "Your friends; Brock and Dawn put an SOS on you."
Officer Jenny threw a water rescue rope, where Ash and Denise stood.
"Here, grab hold!"Officer Jenny instructed.
Ash and Denise aboard and meets up with the ship to pick up Brock and Dawn.
The captain agreed that his ship will continue on to Chocovine Town, and once the Trainers have rescued their pokemon.
"In that case, we will head to Chocovine Town as planned."the Captain replied.
"Once we rescued Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic, I will personally escort them to you."Officer Jenny admitted.
"I am counting on you, Officer Jenny."the Captain answered with a salute.
"They will be in good hands."Officer Jenny assured and saluted.
Officer Jenny starts her police speedboat and headed to the direction where the three pokemon disappeared to.
"Don't worry, Piplup, Pikachu and Torchic!"Dawn responded. "We're coming!"
"We'll save you, no matter what!"Ash vowed.
"You three don't be afraid!"Denise stated. "Help is coming!"
Meanwhile...
At a deserted island, Piplup runs out of the water and onto the beach with an unconscious Pikachu on his back while Torchic came out of the water and tiredly collapsed in the sand.
Pikachu and Torchic slowly stood up as Piplup looked at them.
"Piplup?"Piplup asked.
"Pika pika."Pikachu answered.
"Torchic torchic."Torchic replied.
As they examine their surroundings, Piplup's stomach started growling loudly.
"Piplup pip."Piplup whimpered as he sat down and touched his tummy.
"Pika pika?"Pikachu asked.
Torchic nodded. "Torchic."
Pikachu started quickly scaling a cliff face.
But when Torchic tried to follow the Mouse Pokemon, he ended up dropping into the ground.
Pikachu finds a grassy meadow with some Nosepass and Probopass at the top as some Wingull were flying by a forest on the other side of the meadow.
Further along was a small mountain looming above the forest.
"Pika!"Pikachu gasped excitedly and runs forward.
The Mouse Pokemon runs into the forest and easily finds an apple tree.
Leaping up into the branches, Pikachu picked several to fall to the ground and then jumps down to retrieve them.
Suddenly a mysterious twinkle of light catches his eye from the mountain.
"Pika?"Pikachu said in curiosity.
Piplup lied in the sand while groaning in hunger as Torchic let out a sigh.
"Piplup..."Piplup groaned.
"Torchic."Torchic mumbled.
Then Pikachu arrived with some apples for him and his friends to enjoy.
Pikachu smiled. "Pikachu."
After finishing eating their apples, the three pokemon started calling out for their trainers.
"PIKA PI!"Pikachu called out.
"PIPLUP!"Piplup shouted.
"TORCHIC!"Torchic yelled.
Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic's voices echoed throughout the area, but there was no sign of their trainers.
Then an idea came into Pikachu's head.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu responded.
Piplup and Torchic follow Pikachu to the cliff face.
Pikachu explained to his friends that if they fired their attacks into the sky, their friends might see where they are.
Pikachu fired Thunderbolt, Piplup fired Bubble Beam and Torchic fired Ember in the sky to signal their trainers.
However quickly turns into an impromptu competition of who can fire their attack the farthest as the Wingull fly out to the ocean, away from the growing storm clouds.
Neither Pikachu, Piplup or Torchic don't notice the dark clouds appearing in the sky.
Thunderbolt ends up bringing down a lightning strike on the trio, which knocked out Piplup and Torchic.
Pikachu shakes Piplup and Torchic to wake them up.
Suddenly rain started pouring down from the sky.
The three pokemon run into the forest for shelter, right on the heels of the Nosepass and Probopass.
With the thunderstorm brewing near the horizon, Officer Jenny and the heroes kneel over a topographical map of the area.
"Judging from the under currents, I'm sure they're somewhere in the general ocean vicinity."Officer Jenny explained. "The thing is..."
"The thing is what, Officer Jenny?"Dawn asked.
"You see the area has been called Diablo's Ocean."Officer Jenny admitted.
"Diablo's Ocean?"Ash repeated.
"Yes."Officer Jenny replied. "Within these waters, it's a deserted island. We have many reported cases of boaters getting near the island when suddenly, boat instruments and thermometers stop working or even break and these are the reasons."
Officer Jenny turns the page to a picture of large rocks underneath the water.
"You mean rocks?"Brock asked.
"Rocks that surround the island and they seem to give off of some sort of strange unknown energy."Officer Jenny explained. "They're planning a massive survey of that area very soon."
"Do you think maybe Piplup, Pikachu and Torchic could've ended up on the island?"Dawn asked.
"It's a possibility for sure."Officer Jenny responded.
This caused Ash and Denise to stand up and take out their pokeballs.
"Alright! Staravia and Buizel, come on out!"Ash ordered.
"You guys as well, Hoothoot and Vaporeon!"Denise ordered.
The pokeballs opened causing Staravia and Hoothoot to appear in the air while Buizel and Vaporeon appeared in the water.
"We want you four to head to the island!"Ash stated. "We gotta find Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic!"
Buizel and Vaporeon dived underwater while Staravia and Hoothoot flew to where the clouds were.
"Officer Jenny, I think we should follow them too."Brock suggested.
"Right."Officer Jenny agreed with a nod.
Back in the Island...
Underneath a tree beside a small river, Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic see a group of Mantyke going upstream with chunks of grey rocks on their backs.
Curious, the trio follow them further up the mountain to the bottom of a waterfall, where the Mantyke deliver the rocks to a Corphish beside the waterfall.
A Corphish piles the chunks of grey rocks around a purple oval crystal.
"Pika pika?"Pikachu said.
"Corphish."Corphish greeted happily.
As Corphish happily greets the newcomers as the purple crystal began to glow with an inner green light.
Corphish and the Mantyke become excited as energy comes out of the rocks and was absorbed by the crystal.
The purple crystal started floating up into the air.
"Corphish cor!"Corphish cheered.
Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic stared at the sight in awe.
But then the light faded and it fell back onto the rocks with a musical ring, confusing Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic.
When the sky cleared up, Corphish leads Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic to a different spot on the beach that was in front of a rocky overhang.
Corphish tells Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic that one day there was something flying and got struck by lightning.
The mysterious pokemon transformed into the glowing purple gem and landed on that spot.
When the pokemon transformed into the purple gem, one rock shined brightly and with the help of the Mantyke, Corphish began collecting them and putting them near the gem.
"Corphish cor."Corphish explained firmly. "Corphish corphish!"
Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic looked at the rocks that Corphish pointed at.
"Pika pikachu."Pikachu suggested with a smile.
"Piplup piplup."Piplup chirped.
"Torchic torchic."Torchic remarked happily.
"Corphish!"Corphish admitted and lifted his claw up.
Corphish dived into the water to get more rocks followed by Piplup and Pikachu.
Torchic nervously looked at the water, but then dived in since he realised it was better helping his friends than do nothing.
The pokemon swim down to the lower part of the grey rocks and get to work as the Mantyke using Water Gun to break up the rock.
Pikachu went forward to use Thunderbolt, but Piplup and Torchic warned him he would electrocute everyone.
Piplup used Bubble Beam and Torchic used Peck to crack some rocks.
Pikachu spotted a big boulder and goes up and dives before using Iron Tail to bring the boulder down.
Pikachu, Piplup, Torchic and Corphish head back to the waterfall with their chunks of rock and four Mantyke carrying Pikachu's boulder with him riding on top of it.
Staravia and Hoothoot flew in the sky to head to the island.
"Hoothoot!"Hoothoot said and pointed at something.
"Star?"Staravia asked.
Staravia followed Hoothoot's gaze and spotted their missing friends.
Buizel and Vaporeon brought their heads from the water and smiled seeing Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic were safe.
"Bui bui."Buizel said with a smile.
"Vaporeon."Vaporeon agreed with a nod.
Staravia, Hoothoot, Buizel and Vaporeon head back toward Officer Jenny's boat to tell their trainers what they saw.
"Look!"Dawn said. "It's Staravia! Hoothoot! Buizel! Vaporeon!"
"They've spotted something."Brock stated.
"It must be Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic."Denise commented.
Ash looked at Officer Jenny.
"Officer Jenny, please hurry!"Ash requested.
"Right, got it!"Officer Jenny responded.
Officer Jenny made her speedboat go quick to head to the island.
In the Island...
Pikachu, Piplup, Torchic, Corphish and the four Mantyke place the new rocks and the boulder beside the crystalline gem and wait.
The gem glowed again and floats in the air, absorbing the energy.
The also extends two tendrils of energy and rub Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic on the head in thanks as a pleased Corphish and Mantyke look on.
Suddenly Team Rocket's Magikarp Submarine surfaced from the river causing the gem to stop glowing and drop into the rocks again.
"Found you, Pikachu!"James laughed.
"Multiple years of catching practice makes perfect!"Jessie giggled.
"Wobbuffet!"Wobbuffet agreed.
"The rest of them lugs better watch out!"Meowth laughed.
Team Rocket's Submarine extend an arm to capture Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic,
Corphish leapt forward and used Crabhammer to destroy the arm.
"How dare you mess with the arm of our law!"James shouted angrily.
"You break it, you pay for it!"Jessie snapped.
"Wobbuffet!"Wobbuffet agreed.
"Well, if it's a handout those dopes are looking for, we'll just give them one!"Meowth retorted.
Team Rocket launches another arm, but this time it was one made of gold and Corphish got smacked away.
The golden arm grab a hold of Piplup, Pikachu and Torchic causing the three pokemon to scream for help.
Team Rocket laughed at their success.
"Three Pokemon in the hand is worth bunch of sand!"Jessie squealed.
"Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic isn't life grand?"James remarked.
"We'll be hogging out of them for the boss as soon as we get onto dry land!"Meowth laughed.
Suddenly Staravia comes out of the sky with Quick Attack and broke the arm causing Team Rocket to become shocked
Then Buizel and Vaporeon both fired Water Gun at the golden arm to free Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic.
Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic landed next to Corphish while glaring at Team Rocket.
Staravia, Hoothoot, Buizel and Vaporeon went forward to protect their friends.
Then Officer Jenny arrived in her speedboat causing the four heroes to jump and walk on top of the Magikarp Submarine before they landed on the ground, reuniting with Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic.
"Pikachu!"Ash chuckled.
"Pika!"Pikachu responded.
"Thank goodness you three are alright."Dawn remarked.
"Piplup."Piplup chirped proudly.
"Sorry that we didn't come sooner."Denise apologised.
"Torchic."Torchic assured with a smile.
Officer Jenny proclaimed to Team Rocket that they were under arrest.
"Alright, Team Rocket!"Officer Jenny called out. "You're under arrest for attempting to steal Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic!"
Team Rocket came out from their Magikarp Submarine.
"Alright, Team Rocket!"Jessie mocked. "You're under arrest for attempting to steal Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic! Blah! Blah! Blah! We don't subscribe to your rules!"
"What do you take us for? A bunch of fools?!"James snapped. "When it comes to rhymes, we've got the tools!"
Team Rocket began reciting their motto.
"On the wind!"
"Past the stars!"
"The twerp drools!"
"We're bringing aquatic chaos at a breakneck pace!"
"We're dashing all hope, and putting fear in its place!"
"A rose by any other name is just as sweet!"
"When everything's worse, our work is complete!"
"Jessie!"
"And it's James!"
"Meowth, now that's a name!"
"Putting the do-gooders in their place!"
"We're Team Rocket!"
"In your face!"
"Wobbuffet!"
"Oh shut up!"Denise scowled with a glare.
"Why don't you just give it up!?"Ash demanded.
"Why?"Jessie said smugly and took out a pokeball. "When we can show you what battling is all about instead."
"Taking Pikachu and Torchic are sure to shrink your swelled heads!"James insulted.
At that moment, the purple gem started glowing and Deoxys comes out causing it to earn everyone's attention.
"Who's that pokemon?"Dawn asked.
"That's Deoxys!"Ash admitted.
"As in the legendary pokemon from Hoenn?!"Denise said with a stunned look.
"It said that Deoxys comes from space."Brock stated. "It's a pokemon full of mystery."
Pikachu, Piplup, Torchic, Corphish and the Mantyke cheered seeing that Deoxys was restored.
"You know, both Pikachu and Torchic are fine in a yellow sort of way, but Deoxys is a whole nut of kettle of catch!"Meowth complemented.
"Our match and a beauty like me will accept nothing less than a rare Pokémon like that!"Jessie replied happily.
"Then let's aim high at the sky and give Deoxys a try!"James requested.
Deoxys lifted up some rocks to absorb them.
"The stones are glowing!"Ash commented.
"Amazing..."Denise said quietly.
"Those strange stones are found all around here."Officer Jenny responded.
As Deoxys draw as much energy as it can from the rocks and into it's crystalline organ, Officer Jenny noticed the instruments in her boat going crazy.
"Something is wrong with all the controls!"Officer Jenny shouted.
Team Rocket's sub began also get levitated out of the water and was floating in the same direction with the evil trio still on board.
"The ship is being attracted!"Officer Jenny replied. "It must be the energy coming from those rocks!"
"They must be meteors!"Brock suggested.
"Meteors?"Dawn asked.
"Officer Jenny!"Brock called out. "Get your boat out of here now!"
"Got it!"Officer Jenny answered.
Officer Jenny took off in her speedboat.
"What is going on?"Dawn asked.
"I think Deoxys is converting the meteorites energy into it's own power!"Brock replied. "It's also creating a strong magnetic field, which attracts objects towards them!"
Team Rocket's submarine continued getting attracted by the meteors magnetic field.
"Wanna play rough, eh!?"Jessie scowled and took out her pokeball. "Yanmega, show it how!"
The pokeball opened and Yanmega came out to attack Deoxys.
Deoxys stopped absorbing energy, dropping the meteorites and changed to Attack Forme to fire Zap Cannon.
The attack slammed into Yanmega and keeps pushing, slamming her into Pikachu's boulder and sending both into Team Rocket's sub marine.
The boulder was broken into two pieces on impact, while the attack fried the submarine and making it explode, shattering the boulder and sending Team Rocket blasting off again.
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"Team Rocket screamed as they disappeared in the sky.
The falling remained of the meteorite boulder and the submarine were falling towards the group.
Deoxys quickly flew over the Mantyke in the river, destroying and deflecting debris with it's arms and legs.
With the group safe, the DNA Pokemon used Speed Forme to rush over where the trainers were while changing into it's Defense Forme and dropping over them like a protective dome with the meteorite debris smashing to bits on its back.
With the danger over, Deoxys returned to Normal Forme.
"Wow!"Ash chuckled. "Thanks, Deoxys!"
"Pika pika."Pikachu thanked.
"Piplup!"Piplup chirped.
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted.
Corphish and the Mantyke thanked Deoxys as Officer Jenny's boat returned to the waterfall.
Deoxys looked up at the sky and created an aurora for everyone to enjoy.
"It's an aurora!"Dawn remarked.
"So beautiful."Denise chuckled.
The DNA Pokemon floated upward and prepares to leave with all of the Pokémon express their farewells.
Ash looked at Pikachu.
"Amazing, you three and Deoxys became friends?"Ash asked.
Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic all responded in agreement.
Later that Evening...
As the sun sets, Officer Jenny piloted the police boat across the ocean to take the heroes and their pokemon to Chocovine Town.
"I was thinking maybe the Deoxys used that area of the deserted island where the sunken meteors are to re-energise themselves."Officer Jenny responded.
"Well, meteors come from space and they say Deoxys comes from space too."Brock admitted.
"A pokemon that uses meteors to receive it's powers?"Dawn asked. "That's so amazing."
"You said it, sis."Denise chuckled with a nod. "I bet there are so many legendary pokemon out there for us to see."
"Your right."Ash agreed. "Think of how many more mysterious pokemon there are that we haven't come across yet."
Pikachu, Piplup and Torchic excitedly point out their destination.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu replied.
"Piplup!"Piplup cheered.
"Torchic!"Torchic remarked.
"They're right."Officer Jenny replied proudly. "It's Chocovine Town."
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise stood up and saw they arrived in Chocovine Town.
