Pokemon: Friends to the End
Chapter 114: The Drifting Snorunt!
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise were walking through the Sinnoh's mountains, but were freezing from the strong blizzard that blew in the area.
"Aw man, I can't even tell you which direction we're headed."Ash complemented.
"Pika."Pika said sadly.
"I've heard the mountain weather can be unpredictable."Dawn responded. "But this is insane."
"Piplup."Piplup chirped weakly.
"T-T-Torchic."Torchic stuttered.
Denise notice Torchic was shivering a bit in her arms causing her to rub him slowly.
"Hang on, Torchic."Denise instructed. "We'll find somewhere warm to stay."
Brock checked on his guidebook for the location he and the others were, but couldn't find it.
"No use."Brock stated. "Without a landmark, this guide book is worthless."
"There are no landmarks out here."Dawn said worriedly. "There's nothing but snow and trees."
"One thing's for sure, we've gotta find some shelter and fast!"Ash complemented.
The group winced as the cold air and snow blew on them.
Denise notice one of the big trees had a small overhang of stone underneath it.
"Guys! Look!"Denise admitted and pointed at the small shelter. "We can stay there until this bad weather goes away!"
The four heroes headed to the small overhand to seek refuge from the freezing weather.
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise sat in a row of large rocks, but the overhang didn't shield them from the cold air outside.
"So cold..."Dawn shivered and took out a pokeball. "Buneary, come on out."
The pokeball opened and Buneary appeared next to Dawn.
"Buneary!"
Dawn hugs Buneary to gain warmth.
"Alright."Dawn remarked. "My very own cute little hot water bottles."
Denise sneezed a little as she took out one of her pokeballs.
"Hoothoot, come out too."Denise insisted.
The pokeball opened causing Hoothoot to appear next to his trainer.
"Hoothoot!"
Denise hugged Hoothoot and Torchic to keep herself warm.
"Just like two soft pillows."Denise chuckled lightly.
"Wow! That's great!"Ash responded and took out a pokeball. "I know! Chimchar, I choose you!"
The pokeball opened and Chimchar appeared near Ash."Chimchar!"
Ash got up and gathered some stray sticks around the cave for Chimchar to make a fire.
"Now Chimchar use Flamethrower!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar uses Flamethrower to make a fire, but just as the fire was up, some snow from above falls on it, extinguishing the flame.
The four heroes groaned at the sight.
Suddenly a voice echoed not far from where the group stood and a Froslass appeared out of the blizzard.
"Froslass."the mysterious pokemon said.
"Hey, what's that?"Ash asked.
"Looks like a Froslass."Brock responded.
"A Froslass?"Dawn repeated as she took out a pokedex.
"Froslass the Snow Land Pokemon and an evolved form of Snorunt."Dawn's Pokedex said. "It freezes it's opponents to temperatures nearly minus sixty degrees."
"Freezes it's opponents?"Dawn replied nervously.
Denise checked the type of pokemon that Froslass was in her pokedex.
"It's an Ice and Ghost type."Denise read. "That's really cool."
"Froslass."Froslass said gently as she slowly moved her hand.
Then within moments, the blizzard began to die down.
"It's dying down."Brock commented.
A cabin appeared behind Froslass and she beckoned for the four trainers to join her inside.
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise stood up from the rocks.
"A cabin!"Ash remarked.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu said.
"Where did that come from?"Brock questioned.
"Fantastic!"Dawn responded. "It's gotta be Froslass trying to help us out!"
"I am not so sure."Denise stated with a unsure look. "That cabin wasn't there before."
"Come on, Dennie!"Dawn encouraged. "It's better than staying out here!"
Inside the Cabin...
The heroes and their pokemon sat down next to the warm fire in the chimney.
Froslass gave bowls of pokemon food for Piplup, Pikachu, Torchic, Chimchar and Hoothoot to enjoy eating.
"Ah, nice and warm."Ash sighed.
"Froslass, thanks so much."Dawn thanked.
"You really saved us."Brock agreed.
"You sure know how to be hospitable."Denise complemented.
While a warm fire makes a homely atmosphere, Froslass prepared some bowls of hot soup for the four heroes to enjoy.
"Nice hot bowls of soup!"Ash chuckled.
"Thank you, Froslass!"Brock, Ash and Dawn said in unison.
Brock, Ash and Dawn each took a sip and taste of their warm soups.
"That's good!"Ash said with a smile.
"Warms you up from the inside out."Brock added.
"Tasty too."Dawn giggled.
Denise looked at her bowl of soup quietly and took a sip of it which made her eyes widen.
"Hey, your right."Denise agreed. "It's yummy."
Froslass runs a hot bath for the trainers' Pokemon.
"Froslass."Froslass encouraged. "Froslass."
"I think Froslass made a bath for the Pokemon."Ash commented.
Seeing the warm bath, Torchic quickly jumped into the tub.
Piplup looked at Dawn.
"Pip piplup?"Piplup asked.
"Alright, Piplup."Dawn answered. "You can go in too."
Piplup goes into the hot bath and began splashing in it with Torchic.
Suddenly as Torchic and Piplup splashed in the tub, they become frozen in blocks of ice.
Froslass ends her illusion and the group finds themselves sitting in an ice cave, eating shaved ice on leaves.
"What's going on?!"Ash demanded.
"This isn't a cabin!"Brock responded. "It's an ice cave!"
"This isn't soup!"Dawn cried. "It's shaved ice!"
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise gasped and tossed their shaved ice away.
Dawn picked up Buneary to keep herself warm.
"Back to freezing!"Ash and Dawn groaned in unison.
Denise hugged Hoothoot tightly as she glared at Froslass.
"But how can we thought this place was a cabin?!"Ash asked.
"I have a feeling Froslass is behind this!"Brock answered angrily. "It's causing us all to hallucinate!"
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise stood up from the floor.
"Your kidding!"Ash denied.
"But that doesn't explain why Froslass had to trick us like that!"Denise growled.
"Whatever the reason, it must have needed to bring us here in the first place."Brock suggested.
"We got to save Piplup and Torchic, quick!"Ash stated. "Alright, Chimchar use Flamethrower!"
Chimchar moved forward to attack, but Froslass uses Ice Beam as she does not want them near Piplup and Torchic.
"An Ice Beam."Brock replied. "I think Froslass is warning us not to get near Piplup."
"So what are we supposed to do?"Dawn asked and looked at Froslass. "How can you do something so awful?"
"Why are you doing this?!"Denise questioned. "We didn't do anything to you!"
"Pika!"Pikachu shouted.
"Hoothoot!"Hoothoot cooed in anger.
Froslass used Psychic to bring Meowth, who was also trapped in a block of ice like Piplup and Torchic.
"Meowth!"Ash and Dawn said in unison.
"So Froslass captured Meowth as well."Brock complemented.
Froslass placed Meowth in front of Pikachu, Hoothoot and Chimchar.
"Twerps!"Meowth responded. "So you suckers must've fallen for Froslass trap like us!"
"We're not the suckers since we're not the first to fall into the trap."Denise retorted with a frown.
"I never asked for your opinion, twerpette!"Meowth snapped.
"Where are Jessie and James?"Ash asked.
"You see, we were tracing around in the mountains and got lost in that blizzard."Meowth explained.
"That's what happened to us."Dawn said in realisation.
"Froslass led us to a cabin where we could defrost and recharge."Meowth explained.
"Just like us!"Ash added.
"And while we was getting up ta room temperature, we discovered this joint was just a Froslass made miragey!"Meowth admitted.
"Wow!"Brock commented. "I knew it!"
"Then Froslass told me that it's been trying to find it's good buddy Snorunt for the longest time!"Meowth stated. "But no matter how much she looked for her buddy, she would come up empty handed, so I'm being held hostage while Jessie and James is to go look for the little guy!"
"Ugh, blackmail."Denise retorted with disgust.
"Snorunt huh? Let's see."Dawn suggested.
Dawn pulled out her pokedex and searched up the pokemon that Meowth was referring to.
"Snorunt the Snow Hat Pokemon."Dawn's Pokedex said. "Snorunt is said to bring great wealth to whatever home it lives in."
"Fross froslass."Froslass stated.
"Now Froslass is saying that if you want Piplup and Torchic back, you're gonna have look for Snorunt too."Meowth stated.
"No problem."Ash answered.
"Fros?"Froslass said in surprise.
"You could've just told us you were having a little bit of trouble, right?"Ash asked and looked at the two sisters.
"Right!"Dawn and Denise answered in unison.
"You really didn't need to go through all of this."Brock reminded. "We would've gone to go look for Snorunt anyway."
"If we go look for Snorunt, can we have Piplup and Torchic back?"Denise asked.
Froslass shook her head in respond.
"Froslass froslass."Froslass replied softly.
"Okay. now Froslass is saying that once a human promised to help her out and he turned right around and tried to take her buddy pal away by force."Meowth translated. "Needless to say Froslass isn't into people trusting business these days."
"I get it now."Ash said sadly.
"The thing is not every person is bad like that."Dawn commented.
"That's true."Denise agreed. "You should never judge that all people are awful just because one person betrayed you."
Chimchar, Hoothoot and Pikachu looked down, knowing it will be hard for Froslass to trust their human friends.
"Wait, I got it!"Ash remarked.
"Froslass?"Froslass asked.
"We'll just bring Snorunt back here no matter what!"Ash vowed.
"So you just wait here and we'll be right back."Brock instructed.
Dawn and Denise looked at Piplup and Torchic.
"Piplup, Torchic, no need to worry."Dawn assured. "Cause we'll be right back."
"You'll be with us again soon once we find Snorunt."Denise remarked.
"Piplup!"Piplup chirped.
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted.
"We'll show you you can trust us 100%, people or not!"Ash complemented.
Brock looked at his friends.
"So shall we go?"Brock asked.
"Right!"Ash, Dawn and Denise responded in unison.
Buneary, Chimchar, Pikachu and Hoothoot all spoke in agreement as they all followed their human companions out of the ice cave.
"Hey!"Meowth called out. "If you twerps see Jessie and James out there, you tell them I'm hanging in and chilling out!"
Meowth fell over and was unable to get back up since he was trapped in a block of ice causing Piplup and Torchic to laugh at the sight.
"Hey, come on!"Meowth complained. "Someone help me! I ain't an ice cube by nature you know!"
Outside...
Ash, Dawn, Denise and Brock looked for Snorunt with Buneary, Chimchar and Pikachu while Hoothoot looked up in the sky with Staravia.
"Snorunt!"Ash shouted.
"Snorunt!"Dawn called out. "Where are you?"
"Please, come out!"Denise begged. "Don't be afraid!"
Ash and Denise looked at Staravia and Hoothoot as they flew forward.
"Staravia, Hoothoot, did you two find anything?"Ash asked.
Staravia and Hoothoot shook their heads at their trainers.
"Try looking in the north side of the woods, if you can find it."Denise instructed.
Staravia and Hoothoot headed to the north side of the woods.
"Thank you!"Ash admitted. "Let us know what you find!"
The four heroes continued looking for Snorunt on the ground.
"Snorunt!"Dawn called out.
"Hey, Snorunt!"Brock shouted.
Then Staravia and Hoothoot showed up and went in front of Ash and Denise.
"Did you guys find Snorunt?"Ash asked.
"Staravia."Staravia replied.
Hoothoot nodded. "Hoothoot."
"Great, lead us to the way."Denise requested.
Staravia and Hoothoot flew away causing the group to follow after them.
The heroes and Team Rocket run after Snorunt from opposite directions.
At a bend in the road, the two groups bumped into each other.
"Hey, Team Rocket!"Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise shouted.
"Twerps!"James and Jessie growled.
"Did you find it?"Dawn asked.
"What are you talking about, twerp?"Jessie retorted.
"Be a critic at someone else's watch!"James snapped. "We've got no time for games!"
Carnivine stood next to his trainer, ready to fight.
"This isn't a game!"Denise protested.
"Look we want the same thing as you!"Ash admitted.
"Pika pikachu!"Pikachu agreed as he went on Ash's shoulder.
"We are on a mission to find an enstranged Snorunt so we can thaw and reinstall Meowth on the double on the double!"Jessie stated.
"We already know that!"Dawn assured. "Piplup and Torchic have been captured by that Froslass as well as Meowth!"
"So that means you must've fallen for Froslass' warm and cozy fireside cabin illusion as we did."James said in realisation.
"Your right which means there is no time to argue."Brock replied as he walked forward. "I suggest we all declare temporary ceasefire and work together so that we can rescue our pokemon."
"Novel, a ceasefire."Jessie answered.
"We can always be at each other's throats afterwards."James commented and looked at Jessie. "Jess, the important thing is right now is to defrost Meowth. I concur with your plan."
"It's a deal."Brock said with a smile.
"I almost forgot, Meowth had a message."Ash stated.
"If you twerps see Jessie and James tell them I'm hanging in and chilling out."Dawn responded as she did her best impression of Meowth.
"Staravia!"Staravia spoke up.
"Hoothoot!"Hoothoot called out.
"Sorry, guys."Ash apologised. "You both said you found Snorunt over there right."
Staravia and Hoothoot nodded at their trainers before pointing at the direction on the left.
Denise looked at Ash.
"Okay, let's split up so that we can surround Snorunt on both sides!"Denise suggested.
"Good idea, Dennie."Ash agreed and looked at Team Rocket. "Okay, we'll go up and around to the right."
"Which leaves our gang to pursue the left!"James complemented.
"That covers everything!"Dawn said.
"Okay!"Jessie replied.
The heroes and Team Rocket split up to find Snorunt.
They soon corner Snorunt, who was running down the road.
"Snorunt!"Ash protested. "Hold on!"
Snorunt tried to go to the other side, but Team Rocket blocked it's path.
"Relax."Jessie instructed. "Your jogging days are over."
"Covering the base surely has it's perks."James responded.
Snorunt looked at each side and realised it was trapped.
"Look Snorunt, everything's fine."Ash assured. "You see, it's not like we're catching you or anything that's bad."
"We want you to come home with us and see Froslass."Brock stated.
"We promised her that we would find you no matter what."Denise commented.
"Froslass is so worried about you."Dawn admitted.
"Worried sick."Jessie added.
"All we want you to do is to partake in a pokemon reunion."James replied.
Snorunt looked at the two parties that surrounded it.
"Snorunt..."Snorunt said quietly.
Suddenly a Hyper Beam strikes everyone down.
"What was that?!"Ash demanded.
Out of the smoke comes a Glalie.
"Glalie!"
"Check it out!"Ash responded.
"It's a Glalie!"Brock admitted.
"Let me check it out."Dawn suggested as she took out her pokedex.
"Glalie the Face Pokemon and an evolved form of Snorunt."Dawn's Pokedex said. "Glalie protects itself by creating ice armor from airborne moisture."
"So Snorunt can evolve into a Glalie or Froslass?"Denise said in surprise. "That's wicked."
"I wonder if Snorunt and Glalie are friends."Ash replied.
Glalie attacks the heroes with another Hyper Beam causing them to move out the way and hide in a bunch of rocks.
"I don't think that Glalie is a friend to Snorunt, Ash."Denise responded with a frown.
"Why Glalie attack us out of no where?"Dawn asked.
Glalie used Leer on the defenseless Snorunt.
"Glalie used Leer and look what he did to poor Snorunt!"Ash growled.
"I guess it's safe to assume that Glalie and Snorunt aren't the best of friends."Brock added.
Glalie picked up Snorunt and goes off.
"Oh no!"Dawn gasped. "Where is Glalie taking Snorunt?"
"Properly no where good."Denise scoffed.
"Glalie, wait!"Ash shouted.
The heroes and Team Rocket follow after Glalie.
"Glalie, stop!"Dawn called out.
"Give Snorunt back!"Denise shouted.
"James, do something!"Jessie demanded.
"Carnivine, Bullet Seed!"James ordered.
Carnivine used Bullet Seed, which hits Glalie.
"Alright Chimchar, go help Snorunt!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar uses Scratch which hits Glalie as well, causing the Face Pokemon to drop Snorunt.
"Now Buneary use Ice Beam!"Dawn ordered.
Buneary tried to use Ice Beam, but Glalie dodges and uses Hyper Beam which hits both Chimchar and Buneary.
Ash and Dawn run up to Chimchar and Buneary.
"Chimchar, no!"Ash shouted.
"Buneary!"Dawn cried out.
"Quick Hoothoot use Supersonic!"Denise ordered.
Hoothoot fired Supersonic towards Glalie, but the ice type used Protect to shield himself from the attack.
Then a man drives up on a snowmobile, identifying himself as Glalie's Trainer.
"What's going on?"the man questioned. "What are you doing to my Glalie?"
"That's your Glalie?"Dawn asked.
"We didn't do anything to your Glalie!"Denise snapped. "He just attacked us out of nowhere!"
"Yeah and it was trying to take that Snorunt too!"Ash added.
"Well I know that, it was acting on my orders."the man admitted.
"Your orders?"Brock asked.
"But why?"James questioned.
"It's a no-brainer, look."the man answered and held up a piece of paper that listed all sorts of pokemon. "Snorunt always fetch top dollar on the Pokemon Black Market."
"Pokemon Black Market?"Ash asked.
"You're a poacher, aren't you?"Brock said with a frown.
"Guilty as charged. You see legend has it that having a Snorunt will make you rich, so plenty of people want them."the poacher explained smugly and glanced over to Snorunt. "I did manage to catch one around here just the other day, but it ran off on my way home."
The poacher picked up Snorunt and placed it into a cage towed behind his snowmobile which shocked the group.
"You don't think I'd let a goldmine like this get away?"the poacher sneered.
"Stop it!"Ash shouted with a glare.
"Give Snorunt back now!"Dawn replied.
"Sorry, but finders keepers."the poacher sneered and closed the cage. "Now stay out of my way."
"I'll bet when Froslass was telling us that somebody took away Snorunt by force it was you Froslass was talking about wasn't it?!"Dawn retorted.
"Of course, it must've been you!"Brock accused.
"No wonder Froslass lost trust in humans!"Denise scowled.
"Well your pokemon poaching days are over!"Ash snapped.
"Give Snorunt back right now!"Dawn demanded.
"Meowth will thank you for it, you jerk!"Jessie said angrily.
"That'll be a first!"James added.
"We're taking Snorunt back to Froslass!"Ash stated with a frown.
"In your dreams!"the poacher replied. "Glalie use Hyper Beam, quick!"
Glalie fired Hyper Beam towards the group.
"Chimchar use Flamethrower!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar counter Glalie's Hyper Beam with Flamethrower which caused an explosion.
"Now use Leer!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie emerged from the smoke and used Leer to immobilise Chimchar.
Buneary and Hoothoot rushed toward Glalie.
"Buneary use Dizzy Punch!"Dawn ordered. "Let's go!"
"Hoothoot, Aerial Ace!"Denise ordered.
"Use Protect now!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie protected himself as Buneary and Hoothoot attacked with Dizzy Punch and Aerial Ace.
Dawn and Denise gritted their teeth in anger.
"Next use Hyper Beam!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie hits Buneary and Hoothoot with Hyper Beam.
"Hoothoot!"Denise yelled out.
"No, Buneary!"Dawn shouted in shock.
"Quick, Carnivine use Vine Whip!"James ordered.
Carnivine rushed forward to Glalie.
"Yanmega!"Jessie called out. "You use Sonic Boom!"
Yanmega came out of the pokeball and released a Sonic Boom.
Glalie dodged Sonic Boom and Carnivine's Vine Whip.
"Now use Hyper Beam!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie attacked Yanmega and Carnivine with Hyper Beam.
"They can't lick you!"James said. "Carnivine, Bullet Seed!"
Carnivine fired Bullet Seed towards Glalie.
"Glalie, protect and use Gyro Ball!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie uses Protect and counters with Gyro Ball.
Glalie knocked both Yanmega and Carnivine into James, Wobbuffet and Jessie as Snorunt watched on.
"Chimchar use Scratch!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar scratched Glalie.
"Buneary use Bounce!"Dawn ordered.
Buneary bounced on Glalie.
"Hoothoot use Supersonic!"Denise ordered.
Hoothoot attacks Glalie with Supersonic.
"I can't lose!"the poacher bragged. "Glalie, Hyper Beam!"
Glalie used Hyper Beam, which caused Chimchar, Buneary and Hoothoot to dodge the attack.
"Next Gyro Ball!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie used Gyro Ball, making Chimchar and Hoothoot to dodge but the attack hits Buneary which knocked her out.
"No, Buneary!"Dawn cried out and picked up Buneary. "Are you okay?"
"I don't care what happens!"Ash stated. "We're taking Snorunt!"
"And we'll never give up!"Denise vowed.
Chimchar, Pikachu and Hoothoot shouted in agreement.
"Ha! So you still think you can beat my Glalie?"the poacher asked.
"Chimchar use Dig!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar rushed forward and dug into the ground.
"Where did it go?"the poacher questioned.
Chimchar jumped out of the ground and appeared behind Glalie.
"What the-"the poacher started.
"Now use Flame Wheel!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar hits Glalie with Flame Wheel.
"Nice shot!"James and Jessie remarked in unison.
"Flame Wheel is super effective!"Brock complemented.
"That's enough!"the poacher growled. "Glalie! Gyro Ball, go!"
Glalie recovered and fires Gyro Ball towards Chimchar.
"Chimchar use Dig and then use Flame Wheel!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar goes to dig on the ground to avoid getting hit by Glalie's Gyro Ball.
The Chimp Pokemon came out and hits Glalie again with Flame Wheel.
"Oh no, Glalie!"the poacher called out.
"Afraid so!"Ash chuckled.
"Way da go!"Denise remarked.
"Good work, Chimchar!"Dawn admitted.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu cheered.
"Chimchar use Dig!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar rushed toward the ground, but Glalie appeared beneath it.
"Oh no!"Ash shouted.
"Glalie use Hyper Beam!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie attacks Chimchar with Hyper Beam and the fire type landed on the ground.
"Chimchar, you gotta get up!"Ash encouraged.
Chimchar weakly stood up from the cold ground.
"Our turn!"Denise stated. "Hoothoot use Aerial Ace!"
Hoothoot flew forward and hits Glalie with Aerial Ace.
"Glalie use Gyro Ball!"the poacher ordered.
"Now Hoothoot use Reflect!"Denise ordered.
Hoothoot used Reflect to protect himself from Glalie's Gyro Ball.
Denise glared at Glalie and the poacher.
"You put a good fight, but your still going to lose!"the poacher taunted.
"Not going to happen!"Denise snapped. "Hoothoot use Aerial Ace! Go!"
Hoothoot flew forward in quick speed.
"Quick Glalie, Protect and use Hyper Beam!"the poacher ordered.
Glalie blocks Hoothoot's attack which send the the normal flying type back and hits him with Hyper Beam.
Smoke appeared from Hoothoot was.
"Hoothoot!"Denise shouted in fear. "No!"
"Looks like I win."the poacher said evilly.
Suddenly a glowing light appeared as the smoke cleared away which caused everyone to become stunned.
Unknown to the group and the poacher, Froslass has been secretly watching the fight from a nearby tree.
The light ended revealing an avian Pokemon that resembled an owl and his height was the same as an average human being.
The pokemon had light brown plumage with a darker brown pattern of triangles on his chest. His fan-like tail was the same dark brown, while his wings were a slightly lighter shade of brown with light brown undersides. He had red eyes with black rings around them and a second, cream-coloured ring around the first. Above his eyes were bushy, cream-colored feather 'horns' that resembled large eyebrows. His small beak and talons were pinkish and his feet were cream-coloured with three toes facing forward and one backward.
"Noctowl!"
"Hoothoot?"Denise said in surprise.
"Look at that!"Brock remarked. "Hoothoot evolved!"
"He evolved into Noctowl!"Ash admitted.
"That's awesome!"Dawn responded happily.
Denise checked Noctowl in her pokedex.
"Noctowl the Owl Pokemon and the evolved form of Hoothoot."Denise's Pokedex said. "It's eyes are specially developed to enable it to see clearly even in murky darkness and minimal light."
Noctowl landed between Chimchar and Pikachu, who stared at him in amazement.
"Wow Hoot- I mean Noctowl, you look amazing."Denise replied kindly.
"Noctowl."Noctowl responded with a nod.
"Whatever!"the poacher said rudely. "This doesn't change anything! Your pokemon is no match against my Glalie!"
Denise glared at the poacher as Noctowl spoke to Chimchar.
"Noctowl noctowl."Noctowl instructed firmly.
Chimchar looked at Noctowl with a surprised expression before nodding and standing up.
"Chimchar!"Chimchar agreed confidently.
"Chimchar?"Ash asked.
"Ash, it looks like Noctowl wants Chimchar to help him out."Denise stated proudly.
"Hey that's great!"Ash complemented. "Let's do this for Froslass!"
"Stop wasting my time!"the poacher replied aggressively. "Glalie use Gyro Ball!"
Glalie moved forward to use Gyro Ball causing Noctowl and Chimchar to move out of the way.
"Chimchar use Flamethrower!"Ash ordered.
Chimchar attacks Glalie with Flamethrower.
"Now Noctowl use Aerial Ace!"Denise ordered.
Noctowl quickly hits Glalie with Aerial Ace.
"Keep going you guys!"Ash encouraged. "Do it for Piplup and Torchic!"
"Are you ready to give Snorunt back yet?"Denise asked with a smirk.
"Never going to happen!"the poacher snapped angrily.
Chimchar and Noctowl rushed toward Glalie as Froslass moved passed them.
"Now what?!"the poacher questioned.
"It's Froslass!"Ash responded.
Froslass charged forward and scratches Glalie.
Snorunt became happy to see Froslass.
Froslass went next Chimchar and Noctowl.
"Thanks Froslass!"Ash thanked.
"Does this mean you wanna help us?"Denise asked.
Froslass nodded at Ash and Denise causing the two trainers to smile at her.
"Awesome!"Ash chuckled and looked at Chimchar. "Quick Chimchar, Flame Wheel!"
Chimchar and Froslass attacks Glalie with Flame Wheel and Shadow Ball.
Then Noctowl attacks Glalie by exhaling hot breath to knock out the face pokemon.
"That move..."Denise started.
"Noctowl learned Heat Wave!"Brock remarked.
The fainted Glalie landed on the poacher and they hit against the cage.
This caused the cage to open which made Snorunt to get freed and re-join with Froslass.
"I'm so glad Snorunt is safe now."Dawn said with a relieved smile.
"Maybe after all this, Froslass will realize that there are some people, who can be trusted in this world."Brock stated.
Ash and Denise smiled at Chimchar and Noctowl.
"Thanks, Chimchar."Ash replied with a smile. "You and Noctowl were great together."
"You both sure put up a good fight."Denise chuckled.
Froslass floated over with Snorunt in her arms.
"Sorry it took so long."Ash apologised. "But we've kept our promise to you about Snorunt. Can we have Piplup and Torchic back? That was the deal."
"Froslass froslass."Froslass answered happily.
James and Jessie smiled while nodding before rushing forward.
"We worked hard!"Jessie reminded and looked at Wobbuffet. "And we had a deal too, right Wobbuffet, dear?"
"Wobbuffet."Wobbuffet said in agreement.
James placed his head on Carnivine and the bug catcher pokemon bit on it.
"Yes, observe!"James commented with a smile. "I trust my pokemon with my head! So, may we please have our dear Meowth back?"
Froslass and Snorunt sweat dropped at the sight.
Then the group placed the knocked out poacher and his Glalie in the cage.
"Officer Jenny will be here soon."Ash commented with a frown.
"So you two behave yourselves."Dawn instructed.
"Or you'll get a bigger punishment."Denise warned bitterly.
"Well, it looks like learning crime doesn't pay is tough for some."Jessie commented.
"Do tell."James requested.
"Wobbu!"Wobbuffet agreed.
In the Ice Cave...
Froslass unfreezes Piplup, Torchic and Meowth from the ice blocks she trapped them in.
"That's a load off!"Meowth said in relief.
Piplup rushed up to Dawn's arms while Torchic snuggled against Denise.
"Piplup, you're free!"Dawn giggled.
"Aw Torchic, glad to have you back."Denise chuckled.
Meowth smiled at Jessie and James.
"Thanks for the thaw."Meowth admitted.
"All in a day's work for the giving."Jessie replied.
"But worth every selfless second of it to keep our team intact."James added.
"Fros froslass fros."Froslass apologised.
"Urgent news flash from Froslass!"Meowth announced. "Even if my intentions to find my pally Snorunt were good, I never should've put your buddies in to deep freeze because of it and I'm sorry!"
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise smiled at Froslass.
"It's fine."Dawn assured. "We understand."
"Piplup."Piplup chirped.
"Froslass froslass."Froslass answered.
"As a token of Froslass' appreciation, here's directions to town!"Meowth stated.
"Thank you, Froslass."Denise thanked. "We definitely need directions for our next location."
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"Now this is how people and pokemon should get along, right?"Ash asked.
"You bet."Brock said.
"Pikachu."Pikachu agreed.
"Piplup."Piplup chirped.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
Later that Evening...
The heroes were saying good-bye to Froslass and Snorunt.
"Thanks, Froslass."Ash replied. "We'll take it from here."
"Froslass."Froslass remarked with a smile.
Denise looked at Snorunt.
"Now make sure to stay next to Froslass at all times, Snorunt."Denise instructed. "She was worried that she might not ever see you again."
"Don't get split up again."Dawn reminded.
"And take good care."Brock commented.
"Snorunt."Snorunt answered with a happy grin.
The four heroes waved good-bye to Froslass and Snorunt as they headed to their next destination.
