Pokemon: Friends to the End
Chapter 135: An Egg Scramble!
Ash held his stomach that kept grumbling which caused him to complain as he and his friends walked into a village.
"Man, how hungry can you get?"Ash complained.
Pikachu nodded. "Pikachu."
"Prinplup."Prinplup agreed.
"Prinplup, you too?"Dawn asked.
Dawn blushed shyly when her stomach started growling as well.
"There must be a restaurant around here somewhere."Denise insisted with a frown. "It's not healthy to walk with an empty stomach."
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"Sounds like all of you could go for some lunch."Brock suggested.
"Yeah!"Ash, Dawn and Denise agreed in unison.
Suddenly the heroes spotted a Marill stuck between two buildings causing the heroes to rush up to it.
"Hey!"Ash said. "Check it out!"
"It's a Marill!"Dawn exclaimed. "Wow!"
"It looks like it's stuck too."Brock commented.
Pikachu and Prinplup struggle to pull it out, but Marill eventually used Water Gun to force itself out, but ended up getting the group wet.
"Torchic!"Torchic complained angrily. "Torchic!"
"Easy there, Torchic."Denise chuckled. "At least now you're nice and clean."
Ash and Brock checked on Marill.
"Marill!"Marill responded happily.
"Marill, are you okay?"Ash asked.
"It doesn't look hurt."Brock responded.
Dawn took out her Pokédex to scan Marill.
"Marill the Aqua Mouse Pokémon and the evolved form of Azurill."Dawn's Pokédex buzzed. "It's floating tail allows it to remain steady against the strongest of water currents."
Suddenly two Trainers, Lyra and Ethan, rushed toward Marill.
Lyra was a young girl with brown hair tied into low bunched pigtails, and brown eyes. She wore a poofy white hat with a big red ribbon, a red quarter-sleeved hoodie with a white collar (under which she wore a black undershirt) and dark blue overalls. On her feet, she wore very long white socks with black borders at the tops and cutesy red shoes with white soles.
Ethan was a young boy with black hair and amber coloured eyes. He wore a red hoodie with a collar, black shorts, red and white sneakers and a yellow black backwards cap on his head. On his left wrist was a blue Pokégear and had a grey satchel behind his back.
"There you are, Marill!"Lyra complemented. "How did you get here?"
"You shouldn't have gone off like that."Ethan said with a frown. "We were getting worried."
Dawn looked at Lyra.
"Does this Marill belong to you?"Dawn asked.
"It sure does."Lyra answered. "But it just disappeared."
Lyra took out a Poké Ball to return Marill before she and Ethan introduced themselves to the heroes.
"Hi, I'm Lyra."Lyra replied.
"And my name's Ethan."Ethan answered. "We're both Trainers who're trying to be in the Johto League and become Pokémon Masters."
"My name is Dawn."Dawn said and gestured to Prinplup. "This is my partner Prinplup."
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Hello, my name is Denise."Denise responded. "I'm Dawn's twin sister and that's Torchic.
Torchic smiled. "Torchic."
"Hi, my name is Ash and this is my partner Pikachu."Ash answered.
"Pika pika."Pikachu remarked.
"Hi, I'm Brock."Brock replied. "And I'm a Pokémon Breeder."
"Well, it's very nice to meet you all."Lyra declared and took out her pink and white Pokédex. "You're a Prinplup, huh? Let's see."
"Priniplup the Penguin Pokémon and the evolved form of Piplup."Lyra's Pokédex buzzed. "A strike from its wings can be dangerous as they are strong enough to knock down trees, so trainers watch out."
"Let me check you out, Torchic."Ethan suggested.
Ethan took out his red black Pokédex to scan Torchic.
"Torchic the Chick Pokémon."Ethan's Pokédex said. "Inside its body is a place where it keeps a small flame. Hug it! It will be as warm as a hot-water bottle."
"Are those Pokédexes?"Denise asked in surprise.
"Yep."Lyra agreed. "Straight from the Johto Region and they're brand new."
"So, both of you are from Johto?"Ash questioned.
"We sure are."Ethan agreed with a nod. "Are you guys here for the Festival?"
"Festival?"Dawn said.
"There is a Johto Festival going on now as we speak."Lyra complemented and winked at Dawn. "So ready to go, Dane?"
Dawn sweat dropped at the name Lyra just called her.
"Dane?"Dawn repeated with a sheepish smile. "Okay."
Lyra and Ethan lead the heroes to the center of the village, which was where the festival was in full gear.
"Check that out."Ash remarked.
"Yummy."Denise chuckled and licked her lips. "They got sakura dango."
Suddenly a phone rings causing Ethan to take out answer his Pokégear.
"It's a Pokégear."Lyra explained. "It's gotta a phone, a map and everything built right in. There are different styles of pokegear such as Ethan's but most prefer to carry it in their bag."
Ethan answered his Pokégear to talk to his friend Khoury.
"What's up, Khoury?"Ethan asked.
"What's up?"Khoury repeated."Where did you and Lyra go?"
"We went to find Lyra's Marill after it ran away, but we found it."Ethan replied. "We'll be back soon."
Ethan ended the call on his Pokégear as Lyra spoke to their new friends.
"This is the Johto festival."Lyra explained. "We've been traveling all over and we've gotten great results everywhere we've went!"
Suddenly Lyra's image appeared on it and started talking about the wonders of the Johto Region.
"Look at that!"Ash remarked. "It's you, Lyra!"
"I guess that means your on staff."Brock suggested.
Ethan smirked. "That's true."
blushed bashfully and rubbed the back of her neck.
"When you hear the name Johto, most people think of the legendary Ecruteak City."Lyra stated. "After you spend a little time learning about the burned tower, people and Pokémon bonded in ancient times. So how about having a Pokémon battle with one of these Kimono girls?"
"Wow, Johto."Ash said with a smile. "Great memories."
"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.
"More than great!"Brock said in a love struck expression.
Denise and Torchic both sweat dropped at Brock's usual behaviour as Lyra on the screen showed another part of Johto.
Then Lyra and Ethan lead the heroes to a Moomoo Milk stand that their friend, Khoury with his dad runs.
"Hey, Khoury."Ethan greeted with a wave. "Sorry for the wait."
"Hey, Ethan and Lyra."Khoury responded.
"Welcome to the festival."Khoury's father declared.
Denise notices a Totodile in the stand.
"Whoa, a Totodile."Denise remarked with a smile.
Denise took out her Pokédex to scan Totodile.
"Totodile the Big Jaw Pokémon."Denise's Pokédex buzzed."Totodile has a habit of using its highly developed jaws to chomp on anything in sight, so Trainers beware."
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic greeted Totodile, but the Big Jaw Pokémon doesn't respond to their friendly responds.
"What's up with Totodile?"Denise questioned.
"He looks a bit distant."Dawn said.
"That's Totodile."Khoury admitted. "He's always acting like that. What's worse, he wouldn't eat any of the Pokemon food we gave him."
Brock spotted a bowl of untouched Pokémon food sitting next to Totodile and he took a piece for himself to taste it.
"I think it may be a tad too sweet,"Brock exclaimed. "Do you have any Chesto Berries?"
"Chesto Berries?"Khoury repeated. "Uh yeah."
Khoury went behind the counter and hefted up a basket filled with blue berries.
Then Brock grinds up some Chesto Berries into powder with a mortar and pestle, then adds it to the food.
"Here you go."Brock complemented.
The food was now more appealing to Totodile and he started to chow down.
This caused Khoury to smile in amazement.
"Impressive isn't?"Ethan sneered.
"We were the ones who brought them here."Lyra remarked. "Pretty neat, huh?"
"I want to be the greatest Pokémon Breeder in the world."Brock admitted confidently.
"That's an awesome goal!"Khoury stated.
"Thanks, I'll give you some of the recipes if you like."Brock replied.
"Thank you so much."Khoury answered with a grateful expression.
Khoury's father walked forward holding four cones of Moomoo milk ice cream.
"These cones are freshly made from Moomoo Milk."Khoury's father remarked. "Give them a try."
Khoury's father handed Ash, Denise, Brock and Dawn each a Moomoo milk ice cream cone to try out.
"Tasty."Ash complemented.
"It's delicious."Dawn added.
"So good."Denise murmured.
"Glad you like it."Lyra replied. "And you can get free samples of anything they sell here, so try all of it!"
"Yes!"Ash cheered and rose up his hand that held his ice cream cone. "I just happen to be starving as well! Let's get this show on the round!"
Ash slowly his ice cream cone in one gulp causing him to wince a little.
"Careful, Ash."Denise declared smugly. "Eating an ice cream too quickly will lead to brain freeze."
Ash chuckled shyly while Khoury's father looked at Ethan and Lyra.
"Are they friends of yours?"Khoury's father asked.
Ethan nodded. "We met them today."
"They helped us find Marill."Lyra explained. "Their names are Ash, Brock, Denise and Dane!"
"Uh actually it's Dawn."Dawn corrected while sweat dropping.
"Hello."Denise greeted.
"Nice to meet ya."Ash responded.
"Hi."Khoury replied. "My name is Khoury."
"And I'm Khoury's dad."Khoury's father answered.
Lyra suddenly hummed a little fanfare before gesturing towards Khoury's father.
"See, Khoury's dad is the one responsible for the entire Festival including the recipes we're letting everyone sample."Lyra explained and then pointed at Khoury with a cheeky grin. "And I guess you can call Khoury a Pokémon Breeder, if you stretched it."
"What you guessed?"Khoury said and frowned. "Hey, that's cruel."
Ash looked at Ethan.
"So, Ethan, didn't you say you and Lyra are Trainers who're trying to be in the Johto League and become Pokémon Masters?"Ash asked.
"That's right."Ethan said. "We're visiting all of the Johto Gyms and are gonna continue once we get back. What about you, Ash and Denise?"
"We're working on getting into the Sinnoh League because we want to become Pokémon Masters too."Ash replied.
"We've already got seven Badges to show for it as well."Denise remarked.
"Whoa, I only got two so far."Lyra complemented and opened her badge case. "I've got the Zephyr Badge from the Violet Gym and also the Hive Badge from the Azalea Gym!"
"And I've got three Badges because I also got the Plain Badge from the Goldenrod Gym."Ethan exclaimed as he showed his three Badges and looked at Dawn. "How many Badges do you have, Dawn?"
"I'm a Coordinator."Dawn responded. "And my next Contest is the one they're having in Lilypad Town."
"I'm actually a Coordinator as well."Denise exclaimed. "I do Gym Battles and Pokémon Contests because in addition to wanting to be a Pokémon Master, I also want to be a Top Coordinator since Dawn's and my mother is one."
"You take part in both?"Ethan said in surprise.
"That's amazing, Denise!"Lyra remarked. "Since Ethan and I specialize in battling, you and Dane are the first Coordinator friends we've made so far."
Totodile jumped up and landed on Khoury's shoulder.
"Hey, Totodile, what's up?"Lyra asked.
"I think it's trying to let you and Ethan know that the show is going to start."Khoury declared.
This caused Ethan and Lyra to become alarmed.
"We almost forgot!"Lyra gasped.
"A show?"Dawn asked.
It's an exhibition on Johto Pokémon."Ethan explained. "Me and Lyra are the ones that are supposed to run it."
"Here's an idea."Lyra insisted. "Why don't you guys check it out?"
"Yeah!"Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise agreed in unison.
Brock, Ash, Dawn, Denise and Khoury gathered around with the crowd in the center of the Festival.
"Hello people of Sinnoh!"Lyra announced. "Are you feeling great?!"
The crowd cheered at Lyra and Ethan as the two Johto Trainers stood in the stage.
"That's the spirit!"Ethan chuckled with a small smirk. "My name's Ethan and this is my best friend Lyra! We're from Newbark Town in Johto! Now please direct your attention to the big screen and we'll get started with our Johto Pokémon exhibition!"
Ethan and Lyra gestured towards the big screen and it immediately lit up with an image of a Chikorita, a Cyndaquil and a Totodile, who were the starter Pokémonin the Johto Region.
"In Johto, new trainers have a choice between Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile for their first Pokemon."Lyra explained. "All of which are pretty rare in Sinnoh as I'm sure you're all aware."
"Then let's get this show on the road!"Ethan encouraged and took out a Poké Ball. "Cyndaquil! Go!"
Ethan's Poké Ball opened and a Cyndaquil came out.
"Cyndaquil!"
"Chikorita!"Lyra remarked and took out her Poké Ball. "Come out as well!"
Lyra's Poké Ball opened causing Chikorita to come out from it.
"Chikorita!"
"Look at that!"Dawn said and took out her pokedex. "A Cyndaquil and a Chikorita!"
Dawn scanned Chikorita in her Pokédex.
"Chikorita the Leaf Pokémon."Dawn's Pokédex responded."Chikorita uses the leaf on its head to scan for warmth and humidity in its surroundings and loves to sunbathe."
Denise scanned Cyndaquil in her Pokédex.
"Cyndaquil the Fire Mouse Pokémon."Denise's Pokédex said. "It has a timid nature. If it is startled, the flames on its back burn more vigorously."
Lyra and Ethan brought their attention on Dawn and Denise.
"You two with the Prinplup and Torchic!"Lyra responded.
"Who us?"Dawn and Denise asked in unison.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"Would you two like to have a battle with our Chikorita and Cyndaquil?"Ethan questioned.
"Come on!"Lyra encouraged. "Don't be shy!"
The crowd cheered and clapped at Dawn and Denise.
"Go, Dawn and Denise!"Ash insisted. "It will be fun!"
Dawn and Denise went on the stage with Prinplup and Torchic as everyone continued cheering at them.
"Thanks for volunteering."Ethan remarked.
"And if you win, we've got a fabulous prize to commemorate the occasion for you!"Lyra admitted.
"Prize?"Dawn said with a smirk.
"I like the sound of that!"Denise sneered.
Prinplup and Torchic stepped forward to face off against Chikorita and Cyndaquil.
"You both got it, Dawn and Denise!"Ash called out.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu cheered.
"Alright, this is really a duel between four trainers from Johto and Sinnoh in the match of the century!"Lyra stated.
"Chikorita has the advantage against Prinplup and I doubt Torchic will be effective against Cyndaquil since they are both fire types."Brock complemented with his arms crossed.
"This is a double battle between Prinplup and Torchic vs Chikorita and Cyndaquil!"Khoury's father announced and raised up his hands. "Begin!"
"Chikorita use Razor Leaf!"Lyra ordered.
"Cyndaquil use Quick Attack!"Ethan ordered.
Prinplup got hit by Chikorita's Razor Leaf while Cyndaquil attacks Torchic with Quick Attack.
"Prinplup, Bubble Beam!"Dawn ordered. "Now!"
"Torchic use Hidden Power!"Denise ordered.
Prinplup fired Bubble Beam and Torchic used Hidden Power at their opponents.
"Light Screen!"Lyra ordered.
"Protect!"Ethan ordered.
Chikorita and Cyndaquil protected themselves from the attacks using Light Screen and Protect.
"Both Light Screen and Project just blocked out the attacks."Brock commented.
"You can do it, Dawn and Dennie!"Ash encouraged.
"Now Prinplup use Peck!"Dawn ordered.
"Torchic, you use Peck too!"Denise ordered.
Prinplup and Torchic both hit Chikorita and Cyndaquil with peck.
"That's what I am talking about!"Dawn remarked. "Now use Whirlpool!"
"Use Fire Spin, Torchic!"Denise ordered.
Prinplup activated Whirlpool as Torchic unleashed Hidden Power once more.
"Light screen!"Lyra ordered.
"Cyndaquil use Flame Wheel!"Ethan ordered.
Chikorita activated Light Screen as the shield went up just as the Whirlpool hit while Cyndaquil and Torchic bashed into each other with their fire attacks.
"Use Peck to break through!"Dawn ordered.
Prinplup's Peck attack breaks the shield and knocks out Chikorita.
The flames around Torchic and Cyndaquil started to dance around a bit as everyone watched in awe.
Then Torchic bashed Cyndaquil away, knocking it out as well.
"Chikorita and Cyndaquil are unable to battle!"Khoury's father announced and moved his hand to where the two sisters were. "The victory goes to Prinplup and Torchic! Which means our winners are Dawn and Denise!"
"We did it!"Dawn cheered.
"Alright!"Denise laughed.
Dawn and Denise high fived each other as the crowd cheered loudly at them.
"That Light Screen may have held up against Prinplup's Bubble Beam, but it was no match against his other moves."Brock declared.
"Man, seeing Torchic and Cyndaquil going head to head was amazing!"Ash remarked.
"Looks like both Dawn and Denise's strategy worked."Khoury stated. "I'm impressed."
Lyra and Ethan returned their starter pokemons into their pokeballs.
"I guess my judgment was a little off, Chikorita."Lyra complemented. "That strategy was so unusual, but you still did a good job."
"Cyndaquil, you did a great job."Ethan assured. "Have a good rest."
Dawn and Denise rushed up to Prinplup and Torchic.
"Prinplup, nice work."Dawn remarked.
"You too, Torchic."Denise chuckled with a wink. "Well done."
Prinplup and Torchic smiled at their trainers as Lyra walked forward with Ethan holding a large white box that had a red ribbon tied on it.
"Congratulations, Dane and Denise."Lyra declared.
"You both gave us an awesome battle."Ethan remarked.
"Thanks, Lyra and Ethan."Dawn thanked.
"Both you gave us a great battle."Denise admitted.
"Here you go."Lyra said and handed the box to Dawn. "And the big prize goes to our winners, Dane and Denise!"
"It's Dawn, Lyra."Ethan whispered with a frown. "Not Dane."
Lyra sweat dropped and smiled sheepishly as Denise smiled at Dawn.
"Come on, Dawn."Denise encouraged. "Open it."
Dawn opened the box and finds a Pokemon Egg in an Egg case.
"As you all can see, Dawn and Denise's prize is a fabulous Pokemon egg!"Lyra addressed.
"Awesome..."Dawn said in amazement.
"I wonder what little cutie is gonna hatch from it."Denise giggled.
"Well, you girls have to wait and see."Ethan clarified. "Not gonna give any hints."
Suddenly a loud rumble was head and Team Rocket appeared in their balloon, packed up with food from the festival.
"Who in the world are they?!"Lyra demanded.
"Team Rocket!"Ash snapped.
"Hey!"Khoury shouted. "That's the food for the festival!"
Jessie stopped gulping down a bottle of Moomoo Milk when she saw the group below.
"Whoa, twerp land."Jessie scoffed.
"Give that food right now!"Ethan demanded.
Team Rocket began reciting their motto.
"So sorry sap, but you're a dollar short and a day late!"
"Though I'll say the vittles taste great!"
"On the wind!"
"Past the stars!"
"Put your grub there, mate!"
"Filling our tummies at a breakneck pace!"
"Dashing hunger with a smile on my face!"
"Go ahead and ask me if I've got milk!"
"We're members of the satiation ilk!"
"Jessie!"
"And James!"
"Meowth's the name!"
"Putting the foodless in their place!"
"We're Team Rocket!"
"In your face!"
"The same old idiots."Denise muttered with a disapproving look.
"I thought that slapstick routine would never end." Lyra scoffed.
"Brilliant prose is not measured in length, twerpettes, but in content!"James shouted.
"Now now, big words will get you nowhere."Jessie said happily as she waved at James. "Besides, they're famished and we're not."
Jessie swallowed another pastry as James covered his eyes with his arms to cry.
"Such beautiful words to live by!"James cried.
Meowth spotted Dawn's Pokémon Egg and an evil smile grew on his face.
"Take a look at what the young twerpette's got in her grasp!"Meowth sneered. "Dig, bagging it for the boss as a gift!"
Meowth fired an robotic hand and it snagged the egg right from Dawn's hands before he held it in his own paws.
"Dig it, the egg was calling my name, what could I say?"Meowth cackled.
"I say hooray!"James exclaimed.
"That's the way!"Jessie insisted.
"Have a nice day!"Team Rocket said in unison.
Then the evil trio waved goodbye as their balloon floated out of range.
"My egg!"Dawn shouted. "No!"
"Give it back right now!"Ash demanded.
"In your dreams, twerps!"Team Rocket called out.
Team Rocket proceed to escape, but they run into a tree and puncture their balloon, sending them crashing away from the village in the forest.
"They went down in the forest!"Brock shouted.
"Let's get that Egg back!"Denise insisted.
The four heroes ran out of the village causing Lyra and Ethan to follow them.
"We'll come too!"Ethan stated.
"Do we have to?"Khoury asked nervously.
Lyra and Ethan glanced behind them and frowned at Khoury.
"Your coming with us and that's that!"Lyra stated.
"Don't be chicken, Khoury!"Ethan retorted.
Lyra, Ethan and Khoury followed the heroes to the forest to find Team Rocket and the Egg they stole.
In the Forest...
Ash and his friends find the deserted crash site of Team Rocket, but no sign of the bad guys.
"Now where they go?"Ash questioned.
"They couldn't have gone far."Dawn suggested.
"Those creeps are probably hiding as the cowards they are if you ask me."Denise scowled.
"Come on, Khoury!"Lyra retorted when she notice Khoury still acting nervous. "Put it together!"
"It's just that this forest is such a big place."Khoury said.
"Hey, Johto has big forests too."Ethan reminded. "There's nothing to be afraid of."
"Ash, let's split up."Brock insisted. "We'll head that way. Ethan and Khoury, you come with us."
"So I guess that means Dane, Denise and I will head this way?"Lyra asked.
"Straptor, I choose you!"Ash stated.
"Noctowl!"Denise shouted. "I need your help!"
The pokeballs opened causing Straptor and Noctowl to appear above their trainers.
"Staraptor!"
"Noctowl!"
"Fly and look for Team Rocket!"Ash ordered. "We're counting on you!"
"Call us if you find anything!"Denise declared.
Staraptor and Noctowl flew off in separate ways to find Team Rocket as the girls and the boys split up in two groups to go to different ways in the forest.
Ash, Brock, Ethan and Khoury along with Pikachu, Cyndaquil and Totodile ran to find Team Rocket.
"They've got to be here somewhere!"Ash insisted.
"Ash, look!"Brock said and pointed below. "Down there!"
The boys follow Brock's gaze, just in time to see James walking with Meowth while holding Dawn's Egg.
But when they headed down, James and Meowth were nowhere to be seen.
"They were here."Ethan scoffed. "They couldn't have just vanished."
"I'm sorry, guys."Khoury apologised. "But I guess I am not that much of a guide."
"Staraptor!"
The group looked up and saw Staraptor arrving towards them.
"Staraptor, any sign of Team Rocket?"Ash asked.
"Staraptor."Staraptor answered with a nod.
Brock looked at Ethan.
"Ethan, why don't you give Lyra a call?"Brock suggested.
"Right."Ethan agreed and lifted up his left wrist to use his Pokégear to call Lyra. "Lyra, we found them!"
In another side of the Forest...
Dawn, Denise and Lyra were running as Prinplup and Torchic followed next to them.
"Thanks, Ethan."Lyra thanked and placed away her Pokégear."Dane, Denise. Looks like they found them!"
Denise notice Noctowl flying towards her and her companions.
"Noctowl, did you find them?"Denise asked.
Noctowl nodded. "Noctowl!"
The Owl Pokémon began leading the girls to their destination as they followed after him.
"I think we should confirm our position!"Lyra remarked and took out her Poké Ball. "Marill! Come on out!"
Lyra's Poké Ball opened and her Marill appeared.
"Marill!"
"Marill use Water Gun and aim to the sky!"Lyra ordered.
Marill used Water Gun to signal the boys as Totodile unleashed a Water Gun as well to signal the girls.
"Noctowl!"Noctowl chirped out.
"We see it too, Noctowl!"Denise assured.
"Let's move, girls!"Lyra encouraged.
"Right!"Dawn and Denise answered in unison.
Staraptor and Noctowl spotted James and Meowth as Marill and Totodile kept using their Water Gun attacks to pursue the evil duo.
Then the guys catch up with James and Meowth to catch them.
"Gotcha!"Ash shouted.
"We found you!"Ethan snapped.
"Oh no, it's a twerp bust!"James panicked.
"We've gotta find Jess, twerp or no twerp!"Meowth reminded. "Bonzai!"
Denise, Dawn and Lyra appeared to the other side to prevent James and Meowth from escaping with the Egg.
"Hold it right there, villains!"Lyra demanded.
"You're not going anywhere!"Denise growled.
"Give me back my egg right now!"Dawn ordered angrily.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped.
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted.
James and Meowth glared at their enemies as they looked between the two groups.
"We're surrounded by twerps, the stench of it!"James mumbled.
"We'd better battle them before they suck up all the air!"Meowth suggested.
"Carnivine, assistance!"James ordered and took out his Poké Ball.
Carnivine appeared and latched onto James' head as he usually.
"Ow!"James cried out in pain. "I can comb my own hair thank you very much!"
"Cool!"Khoury remarked and took out his green and orange Pokédex. "A Carnivine!"
"Carnivine the Bug Catcher Pokémon."Khoury's Pokédex buzzed. "Carnivine latches onto trees in marshes and lures its prey with its sweet smelling saliva."
"Khoury!"Lyra groaned and face palmed. "Don't you think there are better times for that?"
"Carnivine, do the deed with Bullet Seed!"James ordered.
Carnivine fired Bullet Seed towards the boys.
"Cyndaquil, Protect!"Ethan ordered.
Cyndaquil activated Protect to protect his trainer and friends from the grass type attack.
This caused Totodile to sneak up and take the Egg back from James and Meowth.
"Way da go, Totodile!"Khoury remarked.
"Your turn, Pikachu!"Ash declared. "Thunderbolt, let's go!"
"Prinplup use Bubble Beam!"Dawn ordered.
"Torchic use Fire Spin!"Denise ordered.
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic attacked the evil duo with Thunderbolt, Bubble Beam and Fire Spin.
"Marill/Totodile!"Lyra and Khoury shouted in unison. "Use Water Gun!"
Marill and Totodile fired Water Gun at the same time, sending James and Meowth off.
"I suppose tomorrow we strap off the old feedbag."James sighed.
"Speaking of which, maybe Jess went to a dina."Meowth suggested
"While we blast off again!"James and Meowth shouted in unison.
James and Meowth crashed to another side of the forest as Dawn picked up her Egg.
"Well, I guess that settles things."Lyra declared.
"The Egg is fine."Dawn replied with a smile. "What a relief."
"Dawn, you should have the Egg."Denise suggested kindly. "It suits you to have it more than me."
"Alright, Dennie."Dawn answered with a nod. "Thanks."
Suddenly Dawn's Egg started to glow causing the group to gasp in awe.
"The Egg..."Denise started.
"It's starting to glow!"Ash remarked.
Afterwards...
The group returned to the village to talk to Khoury's father and tell him what happened when they were in the forest.
"I'm glad everyone is okay."Khoury's father declared.
"Well, you can thank Lyra for that."Ash admitted. "She helped us find our way in the forest."
Lyra and Ethan looked at Khoury's father.
"I heard there's going to be a Pokémon Contest in Lilypad Town."Lyra commented.
"And we would really like to see it."Ethan responded.
"Dad!"Khoury spoke up. "I'd really like to spend some time travelling around with Brock! I want to learn more about being a Pokémon Breeder and you can teach me!"
"I see..."Khoury's father said and looked at the group. "Would you like to take these three along with you for a little while?"
"Sure."Ash agreed with a nod. "That would be just fine."
"Alright!"Lyra, Ethan and Khoury cheered in unison.
Lyra rushed up to Dawn and Denise in excitement.
"I can't wait, you two!"Lyra stated. "I'm finally going to get the chance to see a Pokémon Contest!"
"We're definitely looking forward to see which one of you'll be the winner."Ethan chuckled.
"Thanks, Ethan."Dawn thanked.
Denise smiled. "That's really kind of you."
Suddenly Dawn's Egg started to glow brightly in a white colour.
"Is it time already?"Dawn asked.
Dawn put the case down and pulled the lid off of it before a second later the Egg wobbled and began to glow much brighter.
Then a newly hatched Fire Mouse Pokémon appeared before the group.
Dawn's Egg hatched into a Cyndaquil!
"A Cyndaquil!"Dawn gasped in joy.
"Aw, it's so cute!"Denise cooed. "Just like Ethan's!"
Dawn picked up her newly hatched Cyndaquil.
"Hi."Dawn greeted. "It's nice to meet you, Cyndaquil. My name is Da-"
Suddenly, Cyndaquil showed affection to Dawn by lighting his back fire which torched his Trainer's hair.
"That's hot."Dawn mumbled.
Dawn coughed a bit from the smoke.
Everyone was quite for a moment before they started to laugh lightly.
Dawn blinked and laughed along her friends as she held her new Pokémon in her arms.
Ethan suddenly widen his eyes when he remembered something.
