Chapter 137: A Rivalry to Gible On!
Ash and his friends stopped in front of a Pokemon Center with their new friends from the Johto Region; Lyra, Ethan and Khoury.
"Anybody here?"Ash asked.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu called out.
"Oh, hi everyone."Nurse Joy greeted with a smile.
Brock immediately started flirting with Nurse Joy.
"Nurse Joy! Wowee!"Brock said lovingly. "Such pretty eyes! Your Celestic Town Nurse Joy's cousin and Chocovine Town Nurse Joy's sister am I right?"
"Why yes."Nurse Joy said with a sheepish smile. "How do you know?"
"It's a gift."Brock bragged. "I happen to know everything about each Nurse Joy and in any given moment all over the world!"
Ash, Pikachu, Dawn, Prinplup, Denise and Torchic looked at Brock with sheepish smiles while Lyra, Ethan and Khoury were completely surprised.
"Brock's amazing!"Khoury complemented as he wrote down his notepad. "What a memory."
"Yeah, but I think that memory would be better use as a Pokemon Breeder."Dawn replied.
"Nurse Joy, I suggest continuing this over dinner for two."Brock flirted. "Nice table, soft candle lights-"
Croagunk suddenly poison jabs Brock to stop him from flirting with Nurse Joy.
"Maybe. I'll. Just. Stand."Brock muttered in pain.
Croagunk dragged Brock while the others sweat dropped at the sight.
"That was weird."Ethan stated.
"I know."Denise agreed with her arms crossed. "This thing happens almost every single day."
"Torchic."Torchic mumbled.
Suddenly, three younger kids along with their fainted Mankey, Eevee and Farfetch'd run in and consult Nurse Joy.
"Nurse Joy!"the first little boy shouted.
"Please help us!"the second girl begged.
"You three didn't go to Mount Shady, did you?"Nurse Joy questioned.
"We were only trying to catch it."the small boy responded.
"Do they mean catching a pokemon?"Ash asked.
"That's right."Nurse Joy agreed with a fist over her chest. "There's a wild Gible there. It's dangerous, so please stay away!"
Nurse Joy then looked down at the trio of rookie trainers.
"Let's take care of your pokemon!"Nurse Joy insisted.
"Right!"the three small kids agreed.
"Nurse Joy!"Brock spoke up with a serious tone. "I would like to help too!"
"Thanks, Brock."Nurse Joy thanked gently. "That's very sweet."
Nurse Joy and Brock rush off to treat the three fainted pokemon as Dawn looked at her friends.
"That rogue Gible sounds really scary."Dawn complemented.
"If it's a rogue pokemon, I bet it's a strong pokemon!"Ash remarked with a smirk.
"Pika!"Pikachu cheered.
"Then let's go have a look too!"Lyra insisted.
"Right!"Ethan agreed.
"I don't know guys."Knoury said with an unsure look. "Isn't that dangerous?"
"Khoury, do you have to be afraid of everything?"Lyra asked.
"Let's go catch that rogue pokemon!"Ash declared excitedly.
Ash headed out of the Pokemon Center with Dawn, Denise, Lyra, Ethan and Khoury following after him.
"Ash!"Dawn called out. "Slow down!"
"There's no need to rush!"Denise argued.
When the six trainers were further into the forest, they started slowly walking together.
Ash walked with Ethan and Khoury while Dawn and Denise walked with Lyra.
Lyra looked at Dawn.
"Dane, tell me what do you think of Khoury?"Lyra asked.
"What do you mean?"Dawn said with a smile.
"I mean what do you think of him as a boyfriend?"Lyra admitted.
"As a boyfriend?!"Dawn repeated in shock.
Dawn's shout earned Ash, Ethan and Khoury's attention.
"Something wrong?"Khoury asked.
"No! No!"Dawn panicked nervously. "No! Not a thing!"
Dawn groaned in defeat as Denise chuckled lightly at her twin's misfortune.
"Now Khoury may not seem like much. But I know as a couple you two'd be great."Lyra declared and became determined before punching the air. "That's right! Look out Dane and Khoury because for this matchmaker it's cupid playing time!"
"No! You don't have to do that!"Dawn panicked. "Really you don't!"
"I never thought of you having a boyfriend, sis."Denise remarked. "Maybe Lyra's idea wouldn't be bad."
"Don't encourage her!"Dawn argued.
Lyra headed after the boys causing Dawn and Denise to follow after her.
Suddenly a big rock fell from the sky causing the trainers to quickly move out the way from being hit by it.
"What was that?!"Ash demanded.
"Gible! Gible!"
"Up there!"Ethan shouted.
The six trainers looked up to see that the Boulder was thrown by a wild male Gible.
"Hey!"Denise gasped. "That's the rogue Gible that Nurse Joy was talking about!"
"Hang on."Khoury instructed and pulled out his Pokedex. "I'll check it out!"
"Gible the Land Shark Pokemon."Khoury's Pokedex buzzed."Gible once lived in the tropics and to avoid cold it lives in caves warmed by geo-thermal heat."
The wild Gible uses Strength to pick up another big rock.
"Whoa!"Ash said in shock. "Gible is using Strength!"
Gible throws another big rock at the group, but they quickly jump out of the way.
The Land Shark Pokemon then leapt up and uses Rock Smash to destroy the rock.
"Gible used Rock Smash!"Ash complemented and took out a pokeball. "Now that's power! I like it! I'm catching Gible for sure!"
Ethan, Denise, Dawn, Khoury and Lyra each took out a pokeball.
"Decide on that later, Ash!"Ethan insisted.
"Khoury, this is dangerous, you better stand back!"Dawn warned.
"I wanna raise it!"Khoury responded and looked at Gible in amazement. "Just look at that Gible! I just know I can raise it into an awesome Gabite!"
Lyra and Ethan smiled at Khoury's enthusiasm.
"It looks like that Gible is bringing out the breeder in Khoury!"Lyra stated.
"Well good for him, but I'm gonna catch it!"Ash declared and threw out his pokeball. "Buizel, I choose you!"
"Two can play at that game!"Khoury exclaimed as he took out his own pokeball. "Totodile, give me a hand!"
The wild Gible then used Sandstorm at the heroes and their pokemon before quickly escaping by using Dig.
"Awesome!"Ash remarked. "I gotta catch that Gible!"
"Pika pika."Pikachu whispered.
Lyra suddenly placed her hand on Ash's shoulder.
"I help you too!"Lyra replied and looked at the two sisters to wink at them. "Dane, Denise, why don't you two keep an eye on Khoury and Ethan, okay?"
"Okay."Dawn answered.
"Right."Denise mumbled.
"That Gible is going to be mine!"Khoury vowed in deep determination.
"You're on!"Ash challenged.
"Right, Ash!"Khoury agreed.
"Just remember not to get too overconfident, Khoury."Ethan reminded.
The six trainers went to their next destination to find Gible.
The group were now out in a field of tall grass.
Ash and Lyra were with Buizel to continue to look for Gible.
Lyra spotted and pointed at Gible, who was running in the tall grass in quick speed.
"There!"Lyra shouted. "And Gible is moving fast!"
"Buizel use Aqua Jet!"Ash ordered.
Buizel was about to hit Gible's dorsal fin with Aqua Jey, but Gible completely hides the fin down in the grass.
"What a dodge!"Ash responded.
Gible changed course with Lyra spotting it the second time.
"That way!"Lyra warned.
"Quick, Buizel use Water Gun!"Ash ordered.
Buizel aimed Water Gun at the fast pokemon, but failed when it dodged the attack using the same strategy.
Denise and Ethan stood together in the tall grass with Vaporeon and Poliwhirl next to them.
Gible suddenly burst out of the grass and shouted at the two trainers.
"There he is!"Denise responded. "Vaporeon use Water Gun!"
Vaporeon fired Water Gun at Gible, but the Land Shark Pokemon easily dodged the attack.
"Our turn!"Ethan declared. "Poliwhirl, Ice Beam!"
Poliwhirl fired Ice Beam causing Gible to panic and quickly leapt to use Sandstorm again at the four trainers before disappearing once again.
"His gone again!"Denise gasped.
Ethan frowned. "He sure knows how to escape beside attacking well."
"Man, catching Gible is harder than I thought."Ash grumbled.
"You can say that again."Lyra admitted.
Dawn saw that Ash, Lyra, Denise and Ethan were having a hard time catching the Land Shark Pokemon while Khoury decided to wait for Gible on a large rock above the grass.
"Looks like Ash, Lyra, Denise and Ethan are having a rough time."Dawn stated.
"Instead of chasing Gible, I'm gonna catch it by standing and waiting righthere."Khoury admitted.
"Waiting?"Dawn questioned.
Khoury takes out a fishing rod and gives Dawn one.
"I'll catch Gible with this and pokemon food!"Khoury remarked and gives a fishing rod to Dawn. "Here. This one is for you."
"Hey."Dawn said with a smile. "This might be fun."
Dawn and Khoury threw their fishing rods into the grass to wait for Gible to bite one of it.
"Remember to get ready to fight Gible, Totodile."Khoury instructed.
"I wish Gible would hurry."Dawn said.
"Patience is the name of this game."Khoury chuckled.
Khoury's rod suddenly shakes causing the breeder in practice to pull the string.
"A bite!"Khoury shouted.
"That's great! Hold on!"Dawn instructed. "Hold on!"
"Are you ready to battle Totodile?"Khoury asked.
Totodile grumbled in agreement.
Khoury lifted up his fishing rod to reveal Prinplup, who caught it with his wing causing Dawn, Khoury and Totodile to sweat drop.
"Prinplup."Prinplup said in embarrassment.
"What were you doing down there, Prinplup?"Dawn questioned.
Ash, Denise, Ethan and Lyra come up with a different plan of catching Gible; they each take two sticks and walk about calling, beating the grass to make lots of noise.
"They can do whatever they want!"Ash commented. "We are chasing Gible!"
"And are you sure this plan will work, Ash?"Denise asked with a unsure look.
"Postive!"Ash answered and looked at Buizel. "Buizel! When we chase it to you, Vaporeon and Poliwhirl way, you guys battle!"
"Bui bui!"Buizel responded.
"Vaporeon!"Vaporeon agreed.
Poliwhirl smiled. "Poliwhirl!"
Buizel, Vaporeon and Poliwhirl all responded in agreement.
"Lyra, Ethan, are you guys ready?"Ash asked.
"Okie dokie!"Lyra answered.
"Let's do it!"Ethan insisted.
Ash, Denise, Ethan and Lyra started tapping their sticks to annoy Gible and make the wild Pokemon come out.
"Come out! Come out!"Ash and Denise shouted. "Wherever you are!"
"Face the music and dance!"Lyra and Ethan called out.
"Gible!"Gible growled.
Then Gible suddenly appeared with a very annoyed look.
"There it is!"Lyra remarked.
Gible started rushing toward Lyra.
"Get away from me!"Lyra shrieked.
"Lyra!"Ash called out. "Jump into that rock!"
Lyra jumps onto the rock before Gible breaks straight through the rock, knocking her down.
"Lyra!"Ethan shouted.
Ethan jumped forward and caught Lyra in a bridal style just before she could hit the ground.
Poliwhirl went to Ethan's side as his trainer carefully placed Lyra down.
"Are you guys okay?!"Denise asked.
"We're fine."Ethan answered. "You guys go catch that Gible!"
"Right!"Ash agreed. "Come on!"
Denise nodded. "Okay!"
Ash and Denise started going after Gible with Buizel and Vaporeon.
The duo spotted Gible coming at Dawn and Khoury.
"Dawn! Khoury! Heads up!"Ash warned. "Gible's coming your way!"
"It is?!"Dawn and Khoury shouted in unison.
"Buizel use Aqua Jet!"Ash ordered. "Quick!"
Buizel surrounded himself in water and charged towards Gible.
"Totodile!"Khoury shouted. "Aqua Tail! Let's go!"
Totodile used Aqua Tail and aimed at Gible at the same time as Buizel.
Gible however leaped out of the way at the last second, causing the two water Pokemon to crash into each other.
Buizel and Totodile clearly blame each other and start a brawl.
"Buizel!"Ash snapped. "Knock it off!"
"Totodile!"Khoury protested. "Stop that!"
Denise and Vaporeon sweat dropped at the sight.
"That Gible is really mischievous for a wild pokemon."Denise complemented.
"Vaporeon."Vaporeon sighed gently.
"I got a bite!"Dawn remarked.
Dawn gets something on her rod, but it turned out to be Prinplup again.
"Prinplup, this is getting old."Dawn murmured.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped with a sheepish smile.
Ash and Khoury eventually break up the brawl between their pokemon.
Soon after Ash, Denise, Ethan and Lyra tried Khoury's way of catching Gible by using rods, joining the other two on the large rock.
"All this waiting around is making my legs hurt."Ethan groaned.
"But I guess this wasn't really such a bad idea after all."Ash admitted.
"I say there is a better chance for this working."Lyra complemented.
"We'll see if it does, Lyra."Denise responded.
"It will work, Denise."Khoury assured with a confident smile. "And maybe if I add the flavours that ground types and dragon types pokemon food."
"But I thought you said Totodile didn't like the pokemon food you made, Khoury."Lyra reminded in a teasing tone.
"Give me a break, Lyra."Khoury replied. "After all, I learned a lot about cooking from Brock. Here you go."
Khoury brought out some pokemon to his companions before they cast out their fishing rod lines.
"Wow, thanks Khoury."Ash thanked.
"It's always important to have a bait to use when fishing."Denise complemented.
After a while of waiting, Dawn's fishing rod soon attracts the wild Gible.
"Here we go!"Dawn announced. "Got it!"
"I guess it's Prinplup this time..."Lyra started.
Lyra notice Prinplup busy munching a poffin that Dawn gave him.
"If it's not Prinplup that means it is Gible this time!"Ethan commented.
"There he is!"Ash called out.
Dawn started pulling her rod, but soon realised that he was very strong.
"Man, he is strong!"Dawn said with a frown.
Dawn struggled with Gible as Khoury jumped in to keep the rod steady.
"Don't let go!"Ash shouted. "Reel it in!"
"Come on, Dawn!"Denise encouraged. "Pull!"
"Don't give up!"Ethan protested.
"I can't!"Dawn complained. "Gible is too strong!"
"Okay!"Khoury replied. "Try reeling it in!"
Lyra is quietly thrilled to see that Khoury and Dawn were getting closer.
"Dane and Khoury make such a lovely couple, don't they?"Lyra thought.
When Dawn started to reel the line in, Gible grabbed the line with one hand and yanks it, throwing Dawn and Khoury right off their feet and the rock.
Gible suddenly popped out from the grass.
"There it is!"Ash sneered. "Reel it in!"
Gible breaks a gouge through the middle of the rock causing the others to move out the way before he runs off at full speed with Ash and Pikachu following after him.
"That's it!"Ash called out. "I got you now!"
"Ash, wait!"Denise demanded. "Don't leave us!"
Denise, Vaporeon, Dawn, Prinplup, Ethan, Poliwhirl, Lyra and Khoury followed after Ash, but soon lost sight of Gible once again.
Khoury uses a stethoscope on the ground to hear Gible's digging
"Now where did it go?"Ethan questioned.
"It's faint, but I can hear Gible digging underground."Khoury answered.
"I know!"Lyra said in excitement and took out a pokeball. "Marill! Come on out and give us a hand!"
Lyra's pokeball opened and Marill appeared in the area.
"Marill!"
Marill held onto Lyra's arm and used her ears to detect Gible's location before pointing at a direction.
"Marill said Gible is over there."Lyra declared.
The group went to Gible's location and soon arrived in a nearby cave, but saw no sign of the Land Shark Pokemon.
"I say Gible went into that cave."Khoury suggested.
"Great."Dawn responded with a smile. "Let's go have a look."
"Wait a second."Khoury warned and took out his Pokedex to check for information. "It's dangerous around here. We need to be careful."
Ash, Denise, Ethan and Lyra notice Khoury and Dawn headed towards the cave.
"Look!"Lyra spoke up. "Dane and Khoury!"
"I wonder if they are onto something!"Ash commented and rushed passed his friends. "See ya!"
"Ash!"Khoury protested. "Hold on!"
Ash, excited to catch Gible, runs past them with no worries but then falls into a Trapinch's Arena Trap.
"It's Trapinch's sand trap!"Ash panicked.
"Ash!"Denise shouted as she rushed forward. "Grab onto this!"
Denise quickly takes out an escape rope from her bag to pull Ash out of the trap.
"Thanks, Dennie."Ash thanked quietly.
"What were you thinking, Ash?!"Denise scowled with her hands on her hips. "I know you are desperate to catch Gible, but that doesn't mean you should act like a no brainer and get yourself hurt! You make me scream out loud you know!"
"Give it a rest already."Ash retorted. "Knock it off. I don't need any advice from you."
This caused Denise to become angry.
"Excuse me?!"Denise snapped. "I can give you advice when I need to!"
"Give a rest!"Ash repeated.
"No! You do!"Denise shouted in anger.
"Now, now, you two."Khoury said nervously. "There's no time to fight."
"Yes! It is!"Denise growled in anger. "Ash, here doesn't understand that I care about him and want to help him out!"
"I don't need any help!"Ash argued.
Dawn face palmed at the sight while Lyra lightly giggled, finding the scene adorable.
"Nothing like two people that really care."Lyra giggled.
"Guys, come on. Enough of that."Ethan sighed. "You two are arguing like an old married couple."
Lyra suddenly realised something and looked at her arguing companions.
"Hold on...do Khoury and I act like that?"Lyra said quietly.
Inside the Cave...
The group were walking together to look for Gible.
"Wow."Ash commented. "This is a really big cave."
"Do you think Gible is in here, Khoury?"Lyra asked.
"I can almost guarantee it."Khoury answered. "My Pokedex says Gible really likes to live in caves."
Soon, the heroes arrived in an area of a cave that had lots of tunnels from top to bottom.
"So many tunnels."Denise commented.
"In a place like this Gible could be anywhere."Dawn added.
"Let's start there."Khoury instructed.
Khoury and Dawn walked to the left while Ash smiled at Lyra.
"Lyra, why don't we go too?"Ash asked.
Lyra nodded at Ash before looking at Marill.
"I need you're help again, Marill."Lyra declared.
"Marill."Marill giggled.
Denise glanced at Ash and Lyra with a hint of jealousy before simply huffing and looking at Ethan.
"We'll go with them too, Ethan."Denise stated.
"Sure."Ethan replied.
"Alright, Monferno!"Ash responded and threw out a pokeball. "I choose you! Use Dig!"
Ash threw out a pokeball and Monferno appeared in the cave.
"Monferno!"
Monferno uses Dig to create lots of holes on the ground, only for a bunch of Diglett and Dugtrio to appear with angry looks on their faces.
"Look at all the Diglett!"Lyra said.
"And Dugtrio too!"Ash added.
The group of Diglett and Dugtrio grabbed the four trainers to sent them into deeper portions of the cave as they screamed in terror.
"What the?!"Ethan shouted.
"Well done, Ash!"Denise scowled. "You've done it again!"
Dawn, Ethan and Prinplup gasped seeing their friends being taken away.
"Ash!"Dawn called out. "Dennie!"
"Ethan!"Khoury yelled." Lyra!"
Dawn, Prinplup and Khoury chased after their captured friends but failed to follow them and lose their tracks.
"This cave is a real maze for sure."Dawn grumbled.
Prinplup notice a pair of glaring glowing eyes in the distance causing him to panic a little.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped in shock. "Prinplup!"
"What is it, Prinplup?"Dawn asked.
Khoury, Dawn and Prinplup were then chased by the angry Onix causing them to make a run for it.
"What do we do, Khoury?!"Dawn panicked.
"I think we should split up!"Khoury insisted.
The two trainers split up and Onix hits the wall, awaking bunch of Zubat.
Ash returned Monferon in his pokeball before sighing in defeat.
"Man, that was tough."Ash stated.
Denise frowned. "You think?"
Ash, Denise, Ethan and Lyra hear Dawn's screaming echo in the cave.
"That is Dawn's voice!"Ethan said.
Then Khoury's voice was heard in the other side.
"And that's Khoury's voice!"Lyra complemented. "What happened?"
The four trainers suddenly get attacked by a swarm of Zubats causing all of them to run in separate directions.
Dawn and Prinplup stood next to each other in a side of the cave.
"Where is Khoury?"Dawn asked nervously. "Being alone in the cave can be pretty scary."
"Prinplup!"Prinplup reminded with a frown.
"You're right."Dawn agreed in relief. "You're here with me."
Dawn and Prinplup suddenly spotted Ash and Denise coming their way.
"Hey Dawn!"Ash called out.
"Hi, sis!"Denise greeted.
"It's Ash and Dennie."Dawn remarked.
Prinplup smiled. "Prinplup."
Lyra and Ethan stood together while calling out for Ash and Denise.
"Ash! Denise!"Lyra called out. "Where are you?!"
"Guys!"Ethan shouted. "We are right here!"
Lyra sat down on the ground with Marill next to her.
"When we add it all up, we're totally alone."Lyra admitted sadly and started to panic. "I hate this! Come and save us, please!"
Ethan sweat dropped. "Lyra. Calm down."
"Marill."Marill responded with a sad expression.
Suddenly Lyra was contacted by Khoury through her Pokegear.
"Lyra?"Khoury asked. "Ethan?"
"Hey Khoury, come and rescue us!"Lyra begged.
"Okay, you two stay put."Khoury ordered. "I don't know where you are. But I promise I'll find you both."
"Please hurry, Khoury."Ethan insisted. "Otherwise, Lyra is gonna start crying again."
"Hey, you!"Lyra snapped with a glare.
"Lyra!"Khoury called out. "Ethan!"
Lyra and Ethan looked in the distance and saw Khoury rushing towards them.
"Are you guys okay?"Khoury asked.
"We're fine."Ethan replied. "Thanks for finding us."
"Khoury, you found us!"Lyra remarked in joy and got angry. "You're late though!"
"Sorry."Khoury said in embarrassment.
"And here comes the others."Ethan chuckled.
Ash, Dawn and Denise rushed up to their Johto companions.
"What a relief you found us."Lyra said.
"Are you three alright?"Dawn asked.
"We're all fine."Khoury assured.
"That means we can all go back on finding that Gible."Ash admitted.
"Seriously?"Ethan said in disbelief.
"Of course."Ash agreed. "That's why we're here."
"When something comes to Ash, there is no stopping him."Denise sighed.
"First we should find an exit."Khoury suggested. "We'll deal with catching Gible after that."
"So how do we find it?"Lyra questioned.
Khoury licked his finger to feel which way the wind was coming from.
"If I can detect the slightest breeze, it will be where the exit is."Khoury stated and pointed at the left. "That way."
"Yes!"Ash cheered.
"We don't know what's outside the cave, Ash."Khoury reminded. "So be careful."
The others walked away as Lyra stared at Khoury in amazement.
"Wow. Khoury sure is different from when we were at the Windworks."Lyra remarked.
Ash, Dawn, Denise, Ethan, Lyra and Khoury all headed out of the cave.
"We're out!"Ash laughed.
"Finally!"Denise chuckled.
"It's great to be free!"Dawn remarked.
Ethan and Lyra smiled at Khoury.
"And we all owe to Khoury."Lyra admitted.
"Great job, dude."Ethan commented.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped.
"Guys, look!"Dawn shouted.
The heroes spotted the rude Gible ready for battle and was all fired up.
"Gible is ready for a fight."Lyra stated.
"I'm ready too."Ash remarked while holding a pokeball.
"I'm sorry, Ash but I would like you to leave this to me."Khoury suggested and took out a pokeball.
"No way!"Ash argued. "Khoury!"
"Ash, I think it's best if you set this one out."Denise stated.
"Huh?"Ash said in confusion.
"Come on, Ash."Dawn encouraged. "Let Khoury have a turn."
"His really into it."Lyra agreed.
"Yeah."Ethan agreed. "Give him a chance."
Ash and Khoury are ready to capture the wild Gible, but Dawn and Lyra convince Ash to let Khoury have a shot.
"Totodile!"Khoury shouted and threw out his pokeball. "I need your help now!"
Khoury's pokeball opened and Totodile appeared in the area.
"Aqua Tail!"Khoury ordered. "Let's go!"
Totodile tried to use Aqua Tail but Gible stopped it with his Sandstorm.
Gible quickly uses Strength and aimed a rock at Totodile.
"Now Gible is using Strength!"Khoury exclaimed. "Totodile use Crunch!"
Totodile caught the rock and use Crunch to completely shatter the rock.
"If this is a battle of brawn, then Totodile use Superpower!"Khoury ordered.
Totodile uses Superpower to throw a rock back, but Gible catches the rock and breaks it.
Khoury gritted his teeth at the sight.
"Khoury, what's wrong?"Ash asked.
"Khoury go for it!"Dawn encouraged.
"Don't give up!"Lyra remarked.
"You can do it!"Denise chuckled.
"Show Gible what you got!"Ethan insisted.
The others cheer for Khoury, while Gible grabbed a large nearby rock with Strength and shattered it on his head to show off how tough it is.
Totodile takes up this challenge and uses Superpower to match it.
Then Totodile and Gible continue to one up each other, shattering increasingly bigger rocks, then boulders on their heads, with tears of stinging pain in their eyes as both refuse to back down.
While huffing and puffing, Gible pulled up a massive boulder that shocks everyone that he might crush Gible as he held it up above himself.
"Oh my gosh!"Denise gasped.
"No way!"Dawn shouted.
"Gible just lifted up that rock!"Ethan responded.
"It can't be!"Lyra denied.
"That rock is too big!"Ash protested.
"It will crush Gible!"Khoury panicked.
Gible lets the giant boulder drop onto his head, which splits into two halves but leaves the dragon/ground type pokemon exhausted.
Weakened, Gible tried to escape using Dig.
"Gible used Dig to escape!"Khoury retorted.
"And you were so close."Dawn said sadly.
"Get Gible out of there quick!"Ash insisted.
"Totodile use Water Gun in the hole!"Khoury ordered.
Totodile used Water Gun into the hole, the attack hits Gible and drives it out of the ground.
"Now use Aqua Jet!"Khoury ordered.
Totodile use Aqua Tail, which directly hits Gible and the wild pokemon hits the ground.
"Alright!"Khoury said and throws out a pokeball. "Go, pokeball!"
Khoury throws a pokeball at Gible to trap him inside it.
After shaking a few times, the pokeball stopped moving.
Gible was caught!
"I did it!"Khoury cheered and help up his new pokeball. "I caught Gible!"
Ash, Denise, Dawn, Ethan and Lyra congratulate Khoury of his success.
"You did it, Khoury!"Ethan laughed.
"Yeah."Ash agreed. "Nice going!"
"I was wrong."Lyra admitted. "You are a lot tougher than I thought."
"Now you got a new pokemon friend to train."Denise remarked.
"Wow, Khoury and Totodile."Dawn complemented. "You two make a great team."
"Well, I got all of you guys to thank."Khoury declared.
Pikachu smiled. "Pikachu."
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
Later that Evening...
Ash, Brock, Dawn and Denise have their dinner along with their Johto friends outside the Pokemon Center.
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic sat down together to eat food in their bowls with Gible and Ethan's Cyndaquil.
"So good."Ethan said as he ate a few pieces of delicious salad in his plate.
Lyra handed a plate of salad to Khoury.
"Here you go, Khoury."Lyra said kindly.
"Thanks, Lyra."Khoury thanked.
"Okay, folks."Brock announced. "Next stop is Lilypad Town."
Ash spoke with Dawn and Denise.
"Your contest are coming up soon, Dawn and Dennie."Ash stated.
"Yeah and now that Khoury caught Gible, now is the perfect time for to earn my next ribbon."Dawn responded.
"The same goes with me."Denise said with a small smirk. "But we'll see who is the winner for the upcoming contest."
"Best of luck, girls."Lyra stated.
"We'll be cheering for you both."Khoury commented.
"Both of you make sure to do your best."Ethan remarked.
"We will!"Dawn and Denise cheered in unison.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped.
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted.
