Chapter 138: The Lilypad Contest!
Flashback….
Denise was doing some midnight training with Kirlia and Noctowl while everyone was asleep.
"Now, Noctowl, use Aerial Ace!"Denise ordered. "Kirlia, use Psychic!"
Noctowl flew up in the air and used his wings to sent strong wind waves at Kirlia and the Emotion Pokémon used Psychic to deflect the waves before they could hit her.
"Alright, Kirlia, use Magical Leaf!"Denise ordered. "Noctowl, counter it with Supersonic!"
Kirlia started twirling around and wrapped herself around magical leaves as her body started glowing in bright white light.
Denise and Noctowl gasped at the sight before them.
"What?"Denise gasped in awe.
"Noctowl..."Noctowl whispered.
In Lilypad Town…
Ash and Dawn trained with Grotle and Mamoswine battling against each other while Denise, Lyra, Ethan, Khoury and Brock watched.
"Grotle, use Energy Ball!"Ash ordered.
Grotle prepares to fire Energy Ball towards Mamoswine.
"Mamoswine, Ice Shard!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine prepared to use Ice Shard as Denise, Lyra, Ethan, Khoury and Brock looked at the sight in silence.
"Let's go!"Ash and Dawn ordered in unison.
Then Grotle and Mamoswine both swallowed their attacks causing the Johto Trainers to become surprised.
"Grotle and Mamoswine just swallowed their attacks!"Ethan said in awe.
"Why did they eat their attacks?"Lyra asked.
"How did they do that?"Khoury questioned.
"It all began with an energy charge that Grotle discovered by accident when he and Ash were in a tag battle with Denise and Vaporeon."Brock explained as he watched the effects of swallowing the Ice Shard and Energy Ball begin. "You see, if a Pokémon swallows a move that's the same Type as itself and then releases the energy throughout its body."
Grotle glowed green while Mamoswine gotten sparkly ice spikes on his back from swallowing his moves.
"Yes!"Ash cheered.
"It worked great!"Dawn remarked.
Torchic, Prinplup and Cyndaquil stared at the sight in amazement.
"Amazing!"Lyra exclaimed.
"Cool!"Ethan chuckled.
"Looks like Mamoswine really got it now."Denise agreed with a smile.
"One surprise after another."Khoury commented.
Mamoswine moved his feet a bit as Dawn smiled at Ash and Pikachu.
"So what do you think, Ash?"Dawn asked.
"You guys got it down!"Ash exclaimed.
Grotle nodded. "Grotle."
"Thanks, you two."Dawn thanked and looked at Mamoswine. "Mamoswine, we did it!"
"Mamoswine."Mamoswine answered with a nod.
Cyndaquil run in front of Dawn's feet to earn his Trainer's attention.
"Cyndaquil!"Cyndaquil giggled.
"Hmm, Cyndaquil?"Dawn said. "What's wrong?"
Prinplup went next to Dawn as Cyndaquil crouched down as fire came shooting out from his back in a pair of pillars.
"Wow!"Denise chuckled. "Look at that!"
"That's amazing, Cyndaquil!"Dawn complemented.
"I know what Cyndaquil wants, Dawn."Brock stated. "To be in a Contest."
"Oh."Dawn responded with a small smile and went on her feet to talk to Cyndaquil. "Cyndaquil, I'm sorry. I really want you to watch us from the audience."
Cyndaquil's fire immediately went out and he fell flat on the ground in complete disappointment.
"I was already planning to compete with Mamoswine, see?"Dawn explained with a sheepish smile. "Here's my strategy. I'll be using Prinplup in Round One because he's already a pro on stage."
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped with a proud smirk.
Cyndaquil puffed up his cheeks in annoyance.
"Then in Round Two, Mamoswine will show off his flashy battle moves."Dawn admitted.
Mamoswine snorted smoke from his nostrils as he nodded in determination.
However, Cyndaquil turned his head away angrily at being rejected by his Trainer.
"Aww, someone's a brat."Lyra giggled.
"Prinplup."Prinplup agreed.
"Sweet Cyndaquil."Dawn said as she picked up Cyndaquil in her arms. "See, if you cheer us on, it'll really energize us and then the Lilypad Ribbon is as good as ours."
Dawn gives Cyndaquil a gentle hug causing Prinplup to become horrified.
"Okay, dear?"Dawn asked.
Cyndaquil lights up his back causing Dawn's hair to get burned and frizzy by his flames.
"Dawn!"Ash gasped.
"Dane, are you okay?"Lyra asked.
"No need to worry."Dawn assured with a weak smile and looked at Denise. "Dennie?"
"I'll get the brush and hair oil."Denise responded and smirked. "But don't forget we're both competing in the Lilypad Contest, sis. We both only need our fifth Ribbon."
"I know."Dawn chuckled and became confident. "And here's what's going to happen, today I'll get my fifth Ribbon!""
"We'll see about that."Denise answered with a smirk.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
Afterwards…
It was time for the Lilypad Contest to begin.
"The flowering beauty of Lilypad Town beckons and welcomes you to this star studded, flower studded contest stage, where pokemon will shine and Coordinators compete!"Marian announced. "Ladies and gentlemen, your patience will be rewarded because it's finally time for the Lilypad Town Pokémon Contest! And of course, today we are coming to you live and in person right from Lilypad Town!"
Dawn, Denise and the other Coordinators all stood in the waiting room watching Marian in the television.
Dawn wore her usual pink Contest dress with pink and yellow sashes around her waist and long white opera gloves.
Denise wore the red dress, black tights and red shoes she wore in the Wallace Cup with her hair styled in two braided ponytails.
Prinplup and Torchic stood near their Trainers as they listen to Marian.
"Our winning contest Coordinator will receive this!"Marian announced as she held up the Lilypad Ribbon. "This precious Lilypad Ribbon! And after winning five contest Ribbons, the Coordinator is eligible to compete in the Grand Festival!"
Ash, Lyra, Ethan, Khoury and Brock went inside the waiting room to talk to Dawn and Denise.
"Hi there, Dawn and Denise."Ash greeted.
Lyra and Ethan smiled at the two sisters.
"Wow!"Lyra gasped. "You both look so pretty!"
"Beautiful would be a better word."Ethan chuckled.
"Thanks."Denise said with a shy smile.
"Aw, really?"Dawn giggled.
"Without any doubt."Lyra assured. "You two are number one."
Ethan looked at Ash.
"Do you think they look great too, Ash?"Ethan asked.
"Of course."Ash agreed with a smile. "They're number one and they're gonna win!"
"But only one of us can win the Contest, remember, Ash?"Denise reminded with a smirk.
Ash nodded. "I remember, Dennie. However, I want to be supportive of you and your big sister."
Lyra looked at Ash with a confused expression.
"I didn't mean number one like that."Lyra said. "It went over Ash's head didn't it?"
"The twin's heads too."Brock added.
"Looks like one of us will be getting our fifth Ribbon, Dennie."Dawn remarked.
"Then let's make sure to do our best!"Denise chuckled.
"I know both of you will do great!"Ash complemented.
Dawn, Denise and Ash laughed lightly before high fiving each other.
"Like three peas in a pod."Lyra responded.
Lyra notice Jessilina with a Meowth on her shoulder and smiled at her dress.
"Wow!"Lyra said. "I think your dress is so cute!"
"Hi, Jessilina."Dawn greeted.
"It's been a while."Denise commented.
'Jessilina' freaked out a bit and turned to the heroes.
"Hello!"Jessilina greeted with a nervous smile.
"You three know each other?"Lyra asked.
Dawn and Denise nodded at Lyra.
"This outfit is adorable."Lyra commented as she held the black ribbon in Jessilina's dress. "Where did you get it?"
"Well, the store's name is…"Jessilina started and then moved away from the heroes. "Tada for now!"
Jessilina went out of the waiting room causing the heroes to look at each other in confusion.
In the Contest Stage…
"So let's start with Round One!"Marian announced."Each Coordinator's Pokémon will display an array of dazzling moves on the performance stage and here's entrant number one!"
Marian gestured her hand to the entrance and the curtains raised up to reveal Dawn.
"Wow, it's Dane!"Lyra exclaimed.
"Go, Dawn!"Ash encouraged.
Khoury looked at Ash and Brock.
"So, guys, what exactly is the performance stage?"Khoury asked.
"It's the round where Coordinators show off their Pokémon and moves the best."Brock explained.
"I wonder which Pokémon Denise plans to use since she didn't tell us."Ethan said.
"I guess we have to wait and see since Dennie likes surprising people like me, Ethan."Ash remarked.
"Alright, Prinplup!"Dawn said and took out her Capsule Ball. "Spotlight!"
Dawn's Capsule Ball opened causing colourful stars to come out and Prinplup appeared.
"How can a Poké Ball do that?"Lyra asked.
"The stars come from what's called a Ball Capsule and seal."Brock explained. "They make all sorts of different special effects that can make a Pokémon's entrance really shine in the Sinnoh and Johto region Contests."
Lyra, Ethan and Khoury smiled at Brock's explanation.
"That's really cool."Ethan chuckled.
"You said it."Khoury agreed.
"Now, Prinplup, Whirlpool, go!"Dawn ordered.
Prinplup formed a massive whirlpool over his head, and then somehow tossed it up into the air.
"Follow it with Bide!"Dawn ordered.
"Prinplup is using Bide?"Lyra asked.
"He isn't being attacked by anyone."Khoury commented.
Prinplup uses Bide before engulfing himself in the Whirlpool, glowing by a blue light.
"Prinplup's Whirlpool is coming straight down on it!"Marian announced.
Then the Whirlpool came all the way down and surrounded the evolved Penguin Pokemon, but Prinplup emerged in the middle of the swirling water with his body glowing a shimmering blue sheen.
"And now Bide and Whirlpool have joined forces, leaving Prinplup glowing an intense blue from the energy reaction!"Marian declared.
The crowd cheered as Dawn smiled at Prinplup.
"Prinplup, we did it!"Dawn stated happily.
"Prinplup."Prinplup answered with a proud expression.
"She sure nailed that."Ash commented.
"Pika."Pikachu agreed.
"Cyndaquil."Cyndaquil replied.
"It was obvious that Dawn wanted to show off Prinplup's blue body."Khoury said.
"I think so too."Lyra agreed and snapped her fingers in realisation."I guess you could say that the first round of a contest is kind of like a talent show!"
"I'm not sure talent is one way to put it, Lyra."Ethan chuckled with an unsure look.
"That was truly an impressive example of a performance of the highest calibre."Mr Contesta commented.
"Remarkable too."Mr Sukizo added.
"The synchronicity between Coordinator and Pokémon was perfect."Nurse Joy admitted.
"Now here's our next Coordinator!"Marian announced. "And here she is!"
The curtains opened and Denise walked onto the stage.
"Alright!"Ash chuckled. "Now it's Denise!"
"Alright! Torchic!"Denise declared and took out her Capsule Ball. "Stage on!"
Denise threw out her Capsule Ball and it releases yellow lines that spread out before Torchic appeared.
"Torchic!"
Torchic landed on the ground.
"Torchic, use Hidden Power!"Denise ordered.
Torchic leapt up and used Hidden Power as his body started glowing a bit before firing the attack towards the sky.
"Now use Fire Spin!"Denise ordered.
Torchic started spinning around in a fiery wheel as the energy from the hidden power got caught in his flames making him look like a spinning glowing wheel.
"Would you look at that!"Marian remarked."Torchic used the power of his Hidden Power and Fire Spin to create an energetic wheel!"
"Whoa!"Lyra replied."That is some fire power!"
"I never seen anything like that before."Khoury admitted.
"Wrap it up with Peck, Torchic!"Denise ordered.
Torchic leapt into the air as his beak started glowing white before he sized it to peck the fiery orbs creating orange and green sparkles that floated in the area.
The Chick Pokémon landed down and gave a little wink at the audience.
The crowd let out a loud cheer at Denise and Torchic's performance.
"And Torchic ends his powerful and alluring performance with his adorable cuteness!"Marian declared.
"Torchic gave an amazing performance that light up the stage with his fire attacks and cuteness!"Mr Contesta commented.
"Also, remarkable!"Mr Sukizo responded.
"It was incredible to see Torchic use his attacks to give a hint of his hidden power and show off their beauty."Nurse Joy remarked. "A suprising performance indeed."
Denise and Torchic bowed at the cheering crowd before leaving.
After Denise's performance, it was the other Coordinators turn to show off their Pokémon.
"Let's now move to the next performance!"Marian stated. "You're on!"
After some performances, it is James (aka Jessilina)'s turn.
James swallowed his fear and ran onto the stage with his hands behind his back.
"Alrighty then, Meowth!"Jessilina said with a smile. "Rocket launch!"
Meowth appeared straight out from Jessilina's hair and leaped into the air.
"An entrance without a ball capsule!"Marian announced excitedly. "Unique!"
"This goes out to all the little fans out there in TV Land!"'Jessilina' stated.
'Jessilina' tossed a ball of what appeared to be dough into the air to Meowth.
"Meowth, use Fury Swipes!"Jessilina ordered.
Meowth uses Fury Swipes to cut a dough ball to get some noodles as the audience watched in awe.
"Look at that Fury Swipes go!"Marian stated.
"Now that's what I call lightening type speed."Lyra said.
Meowth finally finished his attack and the ball of dough suddenly became strands of noodles, which were then caught by him and 'Jessilina' in three separate bowls of piping hot soup.
The duo bowed to signal the end of their performance as the crowd cheered wildly.
"A standing ovation!"Marian exclaimed. "The audience is going wild over seeing a performance style that's fresh and new, standing the normal fare of performance styles on its head!"
'Jessilina' placed the bowls of noodle soup in front of the judges.
"Here you go!"Jessilina remarked. "It's Meowth's noodle special, so please eat up while it's still hot!"
"It looks good."Ash stated.
"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.
"And served up with amazing finesse as well."Brock added.
"You see?"Lyra asked. "It is a talent show."
The three judges ate their bowls of soup before giving their comments.
"Who would have thought that using Fury Swipes could make delicious noodles?"Mr Contesta asked.
"Remarkable too!"Mr Sukizo responded.
"The noodles are somehow al dente, great broth too!"Nurse Joy complemented.
In the Waiting Room…
Dawn, Denise and the other Coordinators watched 'Jessilina' and Meowth wave at the crowd on the TV.
"I can't believe Jessilina has changed her style again."Dawn said.
"Kind of weird, don't you think?"Denise questioned with a hint of confusion.
"Ladies and gentlemen, that brings us to the end of an exciting round one!"Marian stated. "So please be patient while our judges' results are tabulated!"
Ash, Lyra, Ethan, Khoury and Brock went back to the waiting room to congratulate the two sisters.
"You were both awesome, Prinplup and Torchic!"Lyra commented.
"Plup."Prinplup chirped.
Torchic smiled. "Torchic."
Lyra looked at Dawn and Denise.
"Dane, Dennie, Contests are really fun to watch you know."Lyra said.
"Glad you like them, Lyra."Dawn responded.
"But waiting for the results can sure be a nerve wracking time!"Lyra chuckled.
"Without a doubt."Denise agreed and looked at Dawn. "Hopefully, both of us have made past the first round."
"No need to worry, Dennie."Ash assured. "Both Prinplup and Torchic did just fine."
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, thank you all once again for your patience!"Marian declared."After careful consideration by our panel of judges, the eight Coordinators who will be moving along to Round Two are..."
A graphic with eight red cards appeared on the screen appeared on the TV screen.
"On the big screen now!"Marian finished.
The screen then showed that Dawn, Denise, 'Jessilina' and five other Coordinators made it to the second round.
"We made it!"Denise laughed.
Dawn sighed. "Thank goodness."
"You girls are in!"Ash remarked.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu cheered.
"Prinplup and Torchic both knew all along."Brock commented.
"Well done, you two."Ethan chuckled.
"Congratulations."Khoury added.
"Dane, Dennie!"Lyra giggled. "You two are simply amazing!"
"The real Contest starts now."Dawn said as she held her Capsule Ball. "I'm counting on you Mamoswine."
"So Mamoswine's stage debut is finally here."Brock stated.
"Can't wait to see how it goes."Ash added and looked at Denise. "Who're you going to use in the second round, Denise?"
"You guys have to wait and see."Denise chuckled with a smile.
Denise held her Capsule Ball behind her hand.
"The same goes to you, my friend."Denise thought confidently. "Let's show them what we got."
In the Contest Stage…
The audience cheered as Marian gave an announcement to them.
"And now it's time for the battle stage!"Marian stated."With just five minutes on the clock, Coordinators must land their attacks as stylishly as possible while lowering their opponents' points in the process so enjoy the dazzling display of moves!"
Khoury looked at Brock.
"So Round Two's a battle round?"Khoury asked.
"But unlike a Gym Battle, Coordinators and Pokémon are judged on the style of their moves and their ability to dodge their opponents' attacks and they have to win before the clock runs out."Brock explained.
"Alright, let's meet the Coordinators for our first match!"Marian declared and gestured towards each end of the stage."On my left, it's Dawn and on my right, it's Mario! We've got five minutes on the clock and begin!"
5:00
"Mamoswine, spotlight!"Dawn remarked.
Dawn threw out her Capsule Ball causing pink smoke to come out and Mamoswine appeared in the battlefield.
"Now, Granbull, go!"Mario stated.
Mario threw his Capsule Ball and fire spoke came out, revealing Granbull.
"Granbull, use Fire Fang!"Mario ordered.
Granbull used Fire Fang as he charged towards Mamoswine.
"And Granbull unleashes a powerfully flaming Fire Fang!"Marian announced.
Dawn started losing a few points.
4:45
"Wait, how come Dane's points just went down?"Lyra asked.
"In a Pokémon Contest battle the successful use of a flashy move can lower your opponents' moves."Brock explained.
"I get it."Ethan commented. "It's really cool that this happens in Contest battles."
"Dodge it and use Ice Shard!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine quickly dodged Granbull's Fire Fang.
"And Fire Fang misses!"Marian stated.
Mario started losing a few points.
4:37
Mamoswine prepared to attack with Ice Shard.
"And Mamoswine prepares to attack with Ice Shard!"Marian stated.
"Let it rip!"Dawn instructed.
Mamoswine swallows Ice Shard in his mouth which surprised the audience and everyone else.
"Mamoswine has just eaten his own Ice Shard!"Marian complemented.
"Go for it, Mamoswine!"Ash encouraged.
"Pika!"Pikachu called out.
Mamoswine's body spiked up with ice as he stomped the ground in a show of force.
"Incredible!"Marian remarked."Mamoswine's fur has just frozen all over and his body is covered in icicles! It's as if Mamoswine is wearing ice armor!"
Mario started to lose more points.
"They did it!"Lyra admitted."Mario's points just went down!"
The crowd cheered at Dawn and Mamoswine.
"We're on a roll, Mamoswine!"Dawn remarked."Now use Hidden Power!"
Mamoswine uses Hidden Power and the orbs swirled around the ice.
"And Hidden Power makes Mamoswine's Ice Armour sparkle brilliantly!"Marian added.
"Look at that!"Ethan remarked.
"By combining those moves, Dawn's making Mamoswine look even more fearsome!"Brock complemented.
"Take Down!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine charged towards Granbull and took down his opponent, winning the match.
"Granbull!"Mario shouted.
"That's it!"Marian declared."The team of Dawn and Mamoswine moves onto the semifinals!"
The crowd cheered as Dawn looked completely surprised.
"Wait, that's it?"Dawn said in surprise. "The battle's over?"
"Using a triple combination move of Ice Shard, Hidden Power, and Take Down, Mamoswine masterfully takes the match!"Marian stated."And Dawn is the first of our talented Coordinators to reach the semifinals!"
In the Waiting Room…
Dawn sat down next to Denise and became concerned when she noticed the sad look on her older twin sister's face.
"What's the matter, Dawn?"Denise asked. "Why the sad face?"
"My battle was a let down."Dawn admitted.
"A let down?"Lyra asked in disbelief. "But, Dane, in case you didn't notice, Mamoswine won."
"I know why, Lyra."Denise said in realisation. "Mamoswine was into the battle but that in was the beginning. Though Mamoswine defeated Granbull with a combination of Ice Shard, Hidden Power and Take Down alone, Dawn wishes she could've done more moves."
"Dennie's right, Lyra."Dawn agreed sadly. "There are a lot more moves I wanted to try."
"But a win's a win, right?"Ethan questioned.
"Yeah but I'm as sure as her sister that Dawn wishes she won against Mario in a different way, Ethan."Ash stated.
"I guess Contest battles are even more complicated than I thought."Khoury said in realisation.
"Don't feel bad, Dawn."Brock said. "That was the start of the second round so unfortunately there'll be moments of when your opponents aren't very strong like Mario and Granbull."
"Which means we still need to find who will that Lilypad Ribbon."Denise added with a smirk.
"Yes!"Dawn remarked as she stood up. "I'll just make the semifinal round even flashier!"
"Prinplup."Prinplup remarked proudly.
"Looks like it's my turn next."Denise admitted. "Wish me luck, guys."
In the Contest Stage…
"Now let the next match of the second round begin!"Marian declared. "We got five minutes on the clock! Begin!"
5:00
Denise stood on the left as she stared at her opponent, who was a girl named Judy.
"Okay, Corsola!"Judy remarked. "Let's go!"
Judy threw out her Capsule Ball causing blue confetti to come out and Corsola appeared.
"Corsola!"
"Gardevoir, stage on!"Denise responded.
Denise took out her Capsule Ball causing pink music notes to come out and a new Pokémon appeared on the stage.
She was a bipedal humanoid Pokémon whose body resembles a flowing gown. Most of her body was white but her hair, arms, and the underside of her gown were green. Her hair curled over her face and down the sides of her head. Behind her red eyes are short spikes, resembling a masquerade mask. She had long arms with three fingers on each hand and slender white legs. A red, fin-like horn extends from her chest and a shorter, more rounded horn extends from the back. A band of green on het chest extends to the center of the front horn and connects to her sleeve-like arms.
Kirlia evolved into Gardevoir!
"Gardevoir."
Ash, Pikachu, Brock, Lyra, Ethan and Khoury were surprised to see Gardevoir on the stage.
"A Gardevoir?"Ash said.
"Pika!"Pikachu gasped.
"Since when does Denise have a Gardevoir?"Ethan asked.
"Kirlia must've evolved into Gardevoir, Ethan."Brock suggested.
"She did?"Lyra responded. "That's awesome!"
"Kirlia must've evolved into Gardevoir when she was doing some night training with Denise."Khoury commented.
Ash scanned Gardevoir with his Pokédex.
"Gardevoir the Embrace Pokémon and the evolved form of Kirlia."Ash's Pokédex buzzed."If Gardevoir's Trainer needs protecting, Gardevoir creates a small black hole by using all of its psychic power."
In the Waiting Room...
Dawn was surprised to see that Kirlia evolved into Gardevoir.
"Let's see how Gardevoir battles after evolving from Kirlia."Dawn commented.
In the Contest Stage...
"Corsola, use Spike Cannon!"Judy ordered.
Corsola glows white, points all of her horns at Gardevoir and fired multiple white spikes from them while the glow outlined her body.
"Corsola launches Spike Cannon with a beautiful glowing display!"Marian announced.
Denise started to lose a few points.
"Gardevoir, use Psychic!"Denise ordered.
Gardevoir used Psychic to repel the spikes back to hit the Water/Rock Type Pokémon.
"And Gardevoir repels Cosola's Spike Cannon back with Psychic!"Marian stated.
Judy started to lose a few points as well.
4:25
"Corsola, use Bubble Beam!"Judy ordered.
"Ice Punch!"Denise ordered.
Gardevoir started hitting Corsola's Bubble Beam with Ice Punch causing the crushed water sparks to shine on the Embrace Pokémon.
"Look at that!"Marian remarked."Gardevoir used Ice Punch attack to destroy Corsola's Bubble Beam to make her appearance sparkle!"
Judy started to lose more points.
"Counter it with Water Pulse!"Judy ordered.
Corsola then got ready to use Water Pulse.
"We're not gonna let that happen!"Denise stated with a smirk. "Gardevoir, time to use Trick Room!"
Gardevoir's eyes glowed and a mystical room engulfed the battlefield, much to Judy and Corsola's shock.
"And there it is!"Marian announced. "Trick Room has appeared and is giving Gardevoir the advantage of attacking first!"
Judy lost even more points.
3:20
"What was the new move that Gardevoir just used?"Khoury asked.
"That was Trick Room."Brock explained. "It's a Psychic Type move that gives the user the ability to create a bizarre area in which it gets to use the first move."
"Corsola, use Recover to bring back your energy!"Judy ordered.
Corsola's body glows with yellow energy and all of the injuries that she had sustained disappear.
"Oh my!"Marian spoke up."It seems Corsola has recovered from Gardevoir's attacks with Recover!"
Denise started to lose points again.
"Don't let that move stop you, Gardevoir!"Denise instructed."Use Magical Leaf!"
Gardevoir started twirling around like a ballerina and releases multiple glowing colourful leaves from her hands at Corsola.
"Amazing!"Marian exclaimed."Gardevoir is dancing gracefully while unleashing Magical Leaf to attack her opponent!"
Judy lost more points again.
"Dodge it, Corsola!"Judy ordered. "And use Water Pulse!"
Corsola dodged Gardevoir's Magical Leaf and releases a stream of water with rings that surrounded the Psychic Type Pokémon.
"Oh dear!"Marian commented."It looks like Corsola has got Gardevoir trapped with her Water Pulse!"
Denise smirked. "Use Psychic to free yourself, Gardevoir!"
Gardevoir's eyes glowed and the water rings remove themselves around her before heading towards Corsola.
Corsola gets hit by her water attack and hits the ground as Gardevoir gracefully landed where she was before.
"Corsola!"Judy called out.

"Time's up!"Marian announced."And the Coordinator moving onto the next round is Denise!"
Denise's face appeared on the screen as the crowd cheered loudly.
"Yes!"Denise laughed and smiled at Gardevoir."Great work, Gardevoir!"
"Gardevoir."Gardevoir responded gently.
"Yeah!"Ash remarked. "Dennie won!"
Ethan looked at Ash.
"You like Denise a lot, don't you, Ash?"Ethan asked.
"Of course, I do."Ash answered. "She's my friend."
Ethan sweat dropped. "I don't mean it like that."
In the Waiting Room...
Dawn looked at Denise and Gardevoir quietly before slightly smiling.
"Denise is not the only one with a few tricks up her sleeve."Dawn stated with a confident expression.
Prinplup smiled at Dawn's respond.
In the Contest Stage...
The next match was Dawn against 'Jessilina'.
"Folks! It's been one stylish battle after another and your applause show me how much you love it!"Marian commented."The last match before the semifinals between Dawn on my left and Jessilina on my right! And with Dawn having won four Ribbons and Jessilina only having just two, who will win and move onto the final round against Denise? We got five minutes on the clock! Begin!"

"Mamoswine, Spotlight!"Dawn remarked.
Dawn threw her Capsule Ball and Mamoswine came out after the pink powder was unleashed.
"Carnivine!"Jessilina remarked. "Show time!"
Jessilina's Capsule Ball opened and hearts came out before Carnvine appeared to bite his Trainer's head again.
"Not chow time!"Jessilina argued. "Show time!"
"And Jessilina puts once again everything on her performance!"Marian announced.
"Mamoswine, Ice Shard!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine opens his mouth a bit to unleash Ice Shard.
"And Mamoswine is using Ice Shard!"Marian stated. "We'll see if it uses the power up again!"
"Use Vine Whip!"Jessilina ordered.
Carnivine use Vine Whip to steal the Ice Shard before Mamoswine can eat it causing Dawn to become stunned.
Dawn began to lose a few points.
"And Dawn's power up fails!"Marian stated. "Carnivine has used Vine Whip to stop Mamoswine's Ice Shard!"
Ash, Brock, Ethan, Lyra, Khoury and Denise all gasped at the sight that they just saw.
This startled Mamoswine causing him to start to get worked up while Carnivine playfully juggles the Ice Shard.
"Return that Ice Shard to sender!"Jessilina ordered.
Carnivine returns the Ice Shard back towards Mamoswine.
"Mamoswine, dodge it!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine was still in shock, it does not react in time to dodge and the Ice Shard hits it square on the head costing Dawn some points.
"And Mamoswine gets puddled by it's own Ice Shard!"Marian announced.
Mamoswine begins to become enraged causing Dawn to become worried.
"Whoa!"Marian said. "It looks like Mamoswine is getting all fired up!"
"Please, Mamoswine!"Dawn protested. "Calm down!"
Mamoswine charges and (without being commanded) uses Take Down in an attempt to hit Carnivine.
"Mamoswine is using Take Down without Dawn's command!"Ethan said in shock.
"If thats the case, this is bad for sure."Brock stated.
"Mamoswine, chill out!"Ash called out.
"Jump and dodge it."Jessilina ordered with a smirk.
Carnivine proves himself too agile for Mamoswine and dodges by simply leaping over the Twin Tusk Pokemon.
"Carnivine elegantly dodges over and over while Mamoswine is getting more upset!"Marian announced.
"Carnivine, now twirl and dance!"Jessilina remarked while shaking a bit. "Keep them in a tipsy trance!"
Mamoswine runs backwards and forwards trying to hit Carnivine only to miss every time and the constant failed attacks causes Dawn's points to quickly drain while Dawn frantically tries to bring Mamoswine under control.
"Mamoswine, watch your opponents moves!"Dawn demanded. "Please!"
In the Waiting Room...
Denise and Torchic were shocked at what they were witnessing.
"This was too good to be true."Denise murmured.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted with a nervous expression.
In the Contest Stage...
"Mamoswine, you gotta calm down!"Dawn protested.
"It's like Mamoswine doesn't even hear Dawn screaming at him."Lyra said.
"Even with my untrained eye, I can tell Mamoswine's attacks aren't normal."Khoury complemented. "I'm afraid Carnivine is in control."
After a couple of more failed attempts at using Take Down, Mamoswine then tries to use Hidden Power against Carnivine.
"Don't attack unless I tell you to!"Dawn shouted.
Mamoswine fired Hidden Power towards Carnivine.
"Carnivine, Bullet Seed!"Jessilina ordered.
Carnivine uses Bullet Seed which counters Hidden Power.
Mamoswine then fires Ancient Power, but Carnivine spins elegantly out of the way causing Dawn to lose more of the few points she has left.
"Mamoswine!"Dawn shouted. "You gotta listen to me!"
Mamoswine once again charges Carnivine in quick speed.
"Mamoswine, you have to stop!"Dawn demanded.
"Carnivine, use Vine Whip to grab Mamoswine's tusks!"Jessilina ordered.
Carnivine uses Vine Whip to snag Mamoswine's tusks to his surprise.
"And now pull him back!"Jessilina ordered.
Carnivine then yanks back hard, throwing Mamoswine forward off its feet, which combined with its charging forward momentum, sends him violently sliding on its chin across the stage to where the judges were.
"Mamoswine!"Dawn called out.
"Mamoswine, get a grip!"Ash demanded.
Lyra held onto Ethan's arm in fear.
"I can't bare to watch!"Lyra cried.
"Me neither, Lyra."Ethan whispered with a glare.
It quickly becomes clear that Mamoswine won't be able to stop in time causing Mr Contesta, Mr Sukizo, and Nurse Joy to scramble out of the way just before Mamoswine's body was halted by crashing into and destroying the judges' desk.
"Mamoswine!"Dawn shouted in pure shock. "No!"

"Times up!"Marian announced. "And Jessilina moves onto the final round to battle against Denise!"
The crowd cheered at Jessilina while Dawn runs forward in worry that Mamoswine has been seriously hurt.
"Mamoswine, are you okay?!"Dawn asked in worry.
Mamoswine has calmed down, but was clearly saddened as he already knows that his behaviour had cost Dawn her Contest.
"Come on, there's next time."Dawn assured with a bright smile. "And when that time comes, we'll be in a better state!"
Mamoswine looked down in sadness, feeling ashamed for what he has done.
In the Waiting Room...
Denise frowned at Dawn's defeat and narrowed her eyes before a man walked up to her.
"It's your turn now, Miss Denise."the man declared.
"Alright."Denise responded with a nod. "I'll be there."
A While Later...
Ash, Lyra, Ethan, Khoury and Brock rushed to the waiting room to check on Dawn.
"Dawn/Dane!"Ash and Lyra shouted in unison.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped.
Dawn placed on her hat after getting changed into her usual clothes.
"Hi, guys."Dawn greeted.
"Sorry about your match."Ash apologised.
"Cyndaquil."Cyndaquil said sadly.
Dawn bent down to smile at Prinplup and Cyndaquil.
"Hey."Dawn chuckled. "No need to worry!"
"Maybe you should've used another Pokémon who had more experience like Prinplup, Buneary or Pachirisu cause to us."Lyra suggested."It seems like Mamoswine wasn't completely ready for his stage debut after all."
"You might be right, Lyra, but there are a lot of things you don't know until you're actually onstage."Dawn remarked and looked at Ash."One thing's for sure, Ash, I know that Mamoswine and I have a lot of work after today. Hope you're okay with practicing with me again someday since I know you helped May get through this with her Venusaur after she made her first attempt for her third Ribbon in Hoenn."
"Of course."Ash answered.
Pikachu smiled. "Pika."
"Dane, you lost but you're so positive despite of it."Lyra complemented in surprise.
Dawn laughed lightly as Ethan notice something on the TV.
"Guys, look!"Ethan suggested with a smile.
The others followed Ethan's gaze and saw Gardevoir take out Carnivine with Ice Punch and the Grass/Poison Type Pokémon fainted on the ground.
"The judges pull a battle off for the last match because Carnivine is unable to battle!"Marian declared."So the final stage winner of the Lilypad Contest is Denise!"
Denise's face appeared on the screen.
"Whoa!"Lyra responded. "Denise won!"
"That means she now has five Ribbons and got her place in the Grand Festival!"Khoury added.
Brock nodded. "She did it."
Ash smiled in happiness for his friend's latest achievement.
"I knew she can do it!"Ash laughed.
Dawn smiled with proudness at her younger twin sister's final Contest victory.
At the Contest Stage...
Torchic and Gardevoir stood next to Denise as Mr Contesta presented their Trainer with the Lilypad Ribbon.
"And Mr Contesta will present Denise with the Lilypad Ribbon."Marian announced.
Mr Contesta presented Denise with the Lilypad Ribbon.
"Congratulations, Denise."Mr Contesta congratulated and held out the Lilypad Ribbon."If my memory is right, this is your fifth Ribbon?"
"Your memory is right cause this is my fifth Ribbon, Mr Contesta."Denise replied with a nod.
"Then we look forward to see you at the Grand Festival and discover if you'll be able to follow in your mother's footsteps."Mr Contesta admitted.
Denise chuckled as she picked up the Lilypad Ribbon.
"Yay!"Denise cheered.""Yay!"Denise cheered and smiled at the screen."I won my fifth Ribbon and can now enter the Grand Festival to try to follow in your footsteps, mum!"
Torchic and Gardevoir cheered at their victroy as Denise held her new Ribbon up in joy while the crowd cheered loudly at them.
In Twinleaf Town...
Johanna smiled at Denise on the TV while Glameow sat next to her.
"Aw, my little Denise is all grown up."Johanna remarked happily.
"Glameow."Glameow purred.
Later that Evening...
Dawn held a bunch of poffins for Mamoswine to eat with Prinplup and Cyndaquil on her side.
"Here you go, Mamoswine."Dawn giggled.
Mamoswine munched on the poffins with a smile on his face.
"Eat up because starting tomorrow, you and I are gonna practice even harder with Ash and my sister, okay?"Dawn asked.
Mamoswine snorted smoke from his nostrils which hit Prinplup and Cyndaquil.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Cynda!"Cyndaquil giggled.
"Wow!"Ash replied. "Mamoswine is really stoked!"
Denise smiled at Dawn.
"And we'll do whatever we can to help you win your fifth Ribbon, sis."Denise assured kindly.
"Thanks, Dennie."Dawn thanked. "I'll do my best."
"That's the spirit."Ethan chuckled. "The important thing is to never give up even after losing a match."
"At times like this, it's great to be with friends."Khoury stated.
"You're right, Khoury."Lyra agreed. "It's whether you win or lose, you always have your friends."
Denise looked at her sister and companions.
"Hey, guys, I think we should eat pizza in a nearby restaurant today since we should celebrate that I won my fifth Ribbon and now get to be in the Grand Festival."Denise suggested.
"That's a good idea, Denise."Brock agreed.
"I am kind of hungry."Ash remarked.
"I like the sound of that."Dawn added.
"Torchic!"Torchic chirped happily.
