Chapter 139: Bagged Then Tagged!
While they are still in Lilypad Town, Ash and his friends visit the Lilypad Colosseum where past Sinnoh Champions have battled.
"Whoa!"Ash remarked. "Colosseum!"
"In Sinnoh's ancient times."Brock spoke up. "This is where true champion trainers worked with their Pokemon to strengthen both body and spirit."
"Amazing…"Denise whispered.
"Wow."Lyra commented. "So maybe if I battle here, it would help me to earn my third badge!"
"I have the same idea, Lyra."Ethan chuckled.
"My last day in Sinnoh."Khoury added. "I think it'll be a day I'll remember forever."
Ethan nodded in agreement as Dawn looked at Khoury.
"So, Khoury didn't you tell us you were going to meet your father at the airport?"Dawn asked.
"Yeah."Khoury answered. "I got a message from him saying we are going home together later tonight after the Johto Festival raps up."
"Which means we don't have much time left."Lyra declared and looked at Ethan. "Let's have a tag battle quick, Ethan."
"Sure."Ethan agreed. "We are going home. So, let's make this day a memorable one."
"Great!"Ash remarked and looked at Denise. "So, Dennie let's show this Johto Team how strong we can be!"
"You've got it, Ash."Denise agreed with a nod.
"Hold on."Brock spoke up. "First we need to pay our respects."
"You're right."Dawn responded.
Ethan, Lyra and Khoury looked at their friends in confusion.
"Pay our respects?"Lyra said.
Ash, Denise, Dawn, Brock, Ethan, Lyra and Khoury went to see the statues of Dialga and Palkia.
"Who are those pokemon?"Ethan asked.
"These are Dialga and Palkia."Denise replied. "They're legendary Pokemon from the Sinnoh Region."
"Legendary really?"Lyra said in amazement. "Cool!"
"The Johto Region has legendary pokemon too."Ethan responded. "Except there are only five of them."
"So this colosseum is really important?"Khoury asked.
"I heard there's a legend that says that trainers and breeders' wishes come true when they touch the statues."Dawn admitted.
"I wonder if it's real."Denise said.
"Let's find out."Lyra suggested.
"I'm up for it."Ash admitted.
Brock, Ash, Dawn, Denise, Ethan, Lyra and Khoury closed their eyes while touching the ground of beneath the statues.
The seven companions removed their hands and opened their eyes.
"So Ash, did you wish for something?"Denise asked.
"Of course, Dennie."Ash responded. "I wish to become a Pokemon master. But before that I am working hard to win the Sinnoh League."
"You're gonna have to beat me and your other rivals for that."Denise chuckled.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"I know."Ash remarked.
Pikachu smiled. "Pikachu."
Dawn looked at Ethan and Lyra.
"So, Lyra, Ethan, what did you guys wish for?"Dawn asked.
"I wished to win the Johto League."Ethan responded.
"Me too."Lyra agreed with a smile and winked. "But there is one more thing."
"And what's that?"Dawn asked.
"After I go back to Johto, I would like to go to a journey with two really good friends of mine."Lyra stated.
Ethan and Khoury smiled at Lyra's respond.
"Wow."Khoury complemented. "You would think about that, Lyra?"
"Whether you go, I would be happy to there for you."Ethan remarked.
"There's nothing quite like going on a journey with people you care about."Ash explained. "You can cheer each other on and help each other grow and get stronger on your journey when you're with friends."
Brock looked at Dawn.
"So Dawn, I bet you wished you'd win your next contest."Brock suggested.
"You'd bet right!"Dawn agreed and looked at Prinplup. "Don't you feel the same way, Prinplup?"
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped with a nod.
Ash looked at Denise.
"Did you wish to win the Grand Festival, Dennie?"Ash asked.
Denise blushed a bit at Ash's question.
"Well, I wished for…"Denise started with a shy smile.
Suddenly, the ground started to shake before three big mecha hands burst out to snag Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic from their trainers.
"No!"Ash shouted. "Pikachu!"
"Prinplup!"Dawn gasped.
"Torchic!"Denise yelled out.
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic cried out in terror.
"Why would somebody want to grab them?"Khoury questioned.
"I think I know."Ethan retorted with a frown.
The big mecha hands belong to a new Drapion robot that was created by Team Rocket.
Team Rocket rose up from their mecha to recite their motto.
"Asking dumb questions is a waste of my time!"
"Though you have set us up for a good rhyme!"
"On the wind!"
"Past the stars!"
"It's your dime!"
"Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!"
"Dashing hope, putting fear in its place!"
"A rose by any other name's just as sweet!"
"When everything's worse, our work is complete!"
"Jessie!"
"And James!"
"Meowth! That's a name!"
"Putting the do-gooders in their place!"
"Cause we're Team Rocket!"
"And we're in your face!"
"Wobbuffet!"
"Mime mime mime!"
"Come on."Brock groaned. "Not you three again."
"That sad excuse for a motto is what's a big waste of time!"Lyra added.
"It can't be helped, Lyra."Denise sighed. "Those who are idiots will always be idiots."
Team Rocket became angry at Denise's respond.
"Silence, twerpette!"James shouted while stomping his feet in indignation. "Save you're big mouth on a quiz test!"
"Besides, our elegant prose is what sets da mood for our rock and rolling robot of the hour!"Meowth added as he pulled out a remote.
Meowth pressed a button on the remote and the robot's mouth opened up as it tossed Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic inside before closing again, much to the horror of Ash, Dawn and Denise.
"Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic have got a new ride!"Jessie sang.
"Stylish!"James added. "In our turbo-charged, fuel-efficient digital Drapion!"
"WE'RE GONE!"Team Rocket called out in unison.
The evil trio escape leaves only a tunnel away from the area as the trainers coughed at the dust.
"Okay, Monferno!"Ash said and threw out his pokeball. "Let's go!"
Ash threw out his pokeball causing Monferno to come out.
"Monferno!"
Ash sends Monferno to follow them underground while the seven humans follow the tunnel from above.
"Let's go, guys!"Ash insisted.
"Right!"Brock, Dawn, Denise, Ethan, Lyra and Khoury agreed in unison.
Underground...
The Drapion Robot used it's claws to dig a tunnel underground to escape.
Pikachu used Iron Tail, Prinplup fired Bubble Beam and Torchic used Peck to try and free themselves but none of the attacks worked.
"We may not have been able to get the Lilypad Ribbon, but pilfering three primo pokemon is an excellent consolation prize!"Jessie remarked.
James notice a red small dot heading towards the robot on a screen, which was Monferno.
"I believe we're being twerp-tailed."James stated.
"That's twerp's Monferno I bet!"Meowth retorted and then smirked. "But that twerp ain't seen nothing yet!"
Meowth pressed a button to release another smaller robot, which digged in other direction to confuse Monferno.
Monferno went back up and saw two directions made by Team Rocket, but wasn't sure which side to pick.
"Monferno!"Ash called out.
Monferno turned around and saw his human friends coming towards him.
"Mon monferno."Monferno said sadly.
The heroes followed Monferno's gaze and saw the two paths created by Team Rocket.
"It looks like they split up!"Ash commented.
"How clever of them."Denise scowled.
"Oh no."Dawn said worriedly. "Which way did they take Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic?"
"Looks like we'll have to split up."Brock suggested.
"Monferno, return."Ash ordered.
Ash returned Monferno in his pokeball before looking at the two sisters
"Come on, Dawn and Dennie."Ash instructed. "Let's go."
"We're right behind you."Denise replied.
"Wait."Khoury spoke up and handed Dawn his Pokegear. "Take this to keep in touch."
Ash, Dawn and Denise headed to the second direction as Brock looked at Lyra, Ethan and Khoury.
"Let's go this way."Brock said.
"Okay!"Lyra, Ethan and Khoury answered in unison.
Ash, Dawn and Denise chased after the small Drapion robot.
"Stop, Team Rocket!"Ash shouted.
"Give us back our pokemon!"Dawn demanded.
The three trainers rushed forward to block the robot's path to prevent it from moving.
Suddenly, the small Drapion robot rose up from the ground in front of the three heroes.
"It's a fake!"Denise scowled with a glare.
"Sorry!"Jessie giggled. "Wrong robot!"
"You've been duped by our Drapion decoy!"James laughed.
"Now you twerps go boom while we're in another room!"Meowth cackled.
Ash, Dawn and Denise screamed as the small Drapion robot exploded causing them to get covered by smoke.
The three trainers quickly removed the smoke dust on them.
"We've been tricked!"Ash scowled.
"Let's pretend this never happened!"Dawn insisted.
"Right!"Denise snapped. "This is the last time that Team Rocket will out smart us!"
Brock, Ethan, Lyra and Khoury continued running until they came across a river.
"Oh no!"Khoury said. "They must've used this river to make their get away!"
"But the question is did they go up stream or did they go down stream?"Ethan questioned.
"Good question."Brock complemented.
"Well, we'll just have to pick one and find out."Lyra suggested. "One thing's for sure there's an even chance we'll be right. This way!"
"At a time like this we need to think logically and scientifically, you know?"Khoury reminded.
"Yeah, but we really don't know which way to go on."Lyra replied.
Suddenly many different wild water pokemon started popping out of the ground.
"Look at that!"Lyra exclaimed.
"I think we just found out the right direction."Ethan remarked.
"Team Rocket must've gone up stream."Khoury suggested.
"Let's go have a look!"Brock encouraged.
Brock, Ethan, Lyra and Khoury started running to Team Rocket's direction as more water pokemon burst out from the ground.
"It's obvious that these pokemon are using Dig to get away from something!"Khoury declared. "I think that's evidence that Team Rocket must have passed right through here!"
"You know, you may be right, Khoury!"Brock admitted. "And that's a very clever theory!"
"Ace detective right before our very eyes!"Lyra remarked.
"I'll tell Ash and the girls what we found."Ethan stated and activated his Pokegear. "Hey Dawn, we found Team Rocket's trace!"
Ash, Dawn and Denise stood near a river together.
"Ethan? Right. I got it."Dawn answered and looked at her companions. "He said Team Rocket has attacked the falls."
"I guess that also means where they're hiding too."Denise suggested. "Let's move!"
"Right!"Ash responded.
Khoury, Ethan, Lyra and Brock soon spotted Team Rocket relaxing on a few rocks while Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic were in a cage together.
"There you are!"Khoury shouted.
"It's over!"Lyra declared. "You guys are through!"
"Don't think you can escape again!"Ethan scowled.
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic smiled seeing their friends.
Jessie, James and Meowth glared at the four heroes.
"So how'd you lugs tail us without a trail?"Meowth demanded.
"We watched the pokemon along the river!"Khoury answered.
"Now give us back Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic!"Brock demanded.
"Sure, just as soon as you stop being twerps!"Jessie sneered and looked down at Meowth. "Meowth, I think it's time to fire up plan B-1!"
"What fun!"Meowth laughed.
Meowth pressed the second button on his remote causing the cage that the three pokemon were trapped inside to be grabbed by the Drapion pokemon's tail.
Suddenly, Ash's Staraptor swooped in using Aerial Ace, slicing the tail's end off and causing the mecha to explode in front of Team Rocket.
Staraptor broke the cage using Close Combat before Gardevoir came forward and used Psychic to prevent Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic from hitting the ground.
Then Ash, Dawn and Denise rushed to the scene.
"Alright!"Ash commented. "Great work, Staraptor!"
"Same with you, Gardevoir!"Denise remarked. "Well done!"
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic rushed over to their trainers, who hugged them.
"Prinplup."Dawn said with a relieved smile.
"Pikachu!"Ash chuckled happily. "You're okay?"
Pikachu nodded. "Pikachu!"
"Torchic!"Denise replied in joy.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
Team Rocket's bodies were covered in smoke and soot.
"You know when certain saps get unstuck and twerps roam free, things aren't as they should be."James groaned.
"I've had it with this!"Jessie shouted angrily and took out her pokeball. "That's enough! Come on, Seviper, do your stuff, show them you're tough!"
The pokeball opened and Seviper came out.
"Seviper!"
"Carnivine, follow their lead!"James ordered and threw out his pokeball.
Carnivine appeared and started biting James' head.
"It's a battle!"James complained. "Not a dinner dance!"
The heroes and their pokemon glared at their enemies.
"Okay! That's it!"Ash shouted. "You went way over the line!"
"Ignore them, Seviper and use Bite!"Jessie ordered.
"Carnivine, Vine Whip!"James ordered.
As Seviper and Carnivine came closer, Ash, Dawn and Denise gave their pokemon their commands.
"Prinplup use Bubble Beam now!"Dawn ordered.
"Quick Pikachu, you use Thunderbolt!"Ash ordered.
"Use Fire Spin, Torchic!"Denise ordered.
Prinplup fired Bubble Beam, Pikachu used Thunderbolt and Torchic unleaded Fire Spin at their opponents sending them crashing and blasting off with Team Rocket.
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"Team Rocket screamed and disappeared in the sky.
"Alright!"Ash, Dawn and Denise cheered in unison.
Prinplup, Pikachu and Torchic cheered at their victory as their trainers smiled at Khoury.
"Amazing, Khoury!"Ash admitted. "I can't believe you knew Team Rocket went up stream!"
"It's Ace Detective Khoury from now on."Brock stated.
"You got that right, Brock."Ethan chuckled.
Lyra placed her hand on Khoury's shoulder.
"And he figured it all out by watching the river pokemon."Lyra added.
Khoury blushed at Lyra's complement.
"Because of you, our pokemon are back."Dawn added.
"Thank you, Khoury."Denise responded.
"No problem."Khoury replied and looked at the three pokemon. "But the important thing is that everyone is safe."
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic smiled at Khoury.
"Pikachu."Pikachu giggled.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"Now let's get back to that tag battle!"Ash declared with a confident expression.
"And I think having a triple tag battle should make things more exciting, wouldn't you guys agree?"Denise asked with a smirk.
"You bet, Dennie!"Dawn agreed.
In the Lilypad Coliseum…
It was a triple tag battle with Dawn, Ash and Denise vs Khoury, Lyra and Ethan.
"The rules are, each trainer gets one pokemon!"Brock explained. "The tag team battle will be over when both of one of the team's Pokemon are unable to continue! Alright! Begin!"
"Okay, Monferno!"Ash shouted and threw out his pokeball. "I choose you!"
"Cyndaquil, go!"Dawn remarked.
"Noctowl!"Denise called out. "Join the party!"
The pokeballs opened causing Monferno, Cyndaquil and Noctowl to appear.
"Monferno!"
"Cyndaquil!"
"Noctowl!"
"They're using two fire types and one flying type, so that decides that."Khoury said and took out a pokeball. "Okay, Totodile! Come on out!"
Khoury's pokeball opened and Totodile appeared in the battlefield.
"Totodile!"
"Chikorita, your turn!"Lyra remarked.
"Scyther!"Ethan shouted. "Let's go!"
Lyra and Ethan's pokeballs opened causing Chikorita and Scyther to come out.
Dawn, Ash and Denise were surprised to see Lyra and Ethan's chosen pokemon.
"Hold on, Lyra and Ethan."Khoury said. "Aren't grass and bug type pokemon like Chikorita and Scyther terrible match up against fire and flying types?"
"My Chikorita and Ethan's Scyther are tough."Lyra declared with a confident smile. "As long we work as a team we gotta win this tag battle.
"Don't worry, we got an idea."Ethan assured. "You just will have to trust us."
"You're right, Ethan."Khoury agreed. "Tag team partners need to believe in each other. Doing that the key is success."
"You bet."Lyra remarked. "That's what is all about."
"Alright! I'm warning you! There is no holding back!"Ash stated. "Monferno, Flamethrower! Now!"
"Cyndaquil, Swift!"Dawn ordered. "Let's go!"
"Noctowl use Aerial Ace!"Denise ordered.
Monferno fired Flamethrower, Cyndaquil used Swift and Noctowl used Aerial Ace towards their opponents.
"Chikorita, Light Screen!"Lyra ordered.
Chikorita intercepts the attacks with Light Screen to protect herself and her friends.
"There was hardly an damage."Lyra remarked. "Ethan, Khoury, your turns."
"Okay."Khoury responded. "Totodile use Water Gun on Monferno!"
"Scyther use Cross Poison on Noctowl!"Ethan ordered.
Totodile used Water Gun on Monferno, hitting it hard while Scyther hits Noctowl with Cross Poison.
"Monferno!"Ash shouted.
"Noctowl!"Denise gasped.
"Lyra, you used Chikorita just for that Light Screen, didn't you?"Khoury asked.
"And it was a pretty good choice, wasn't it?"Lyra said and looked at Ethan. "And it was cool to use Scyther for his Cross Poison."
Ethan nodded. "Thanks."
Monferno and Noctowl slowly stood up from the ground.
"Monferno!"Ash called out. "Come on!"
"Noctowl, you can do this!"Denise encouraged.
"Monferno, Noctowl, both took some damage."Dawn mumured before calling out Cyndaquil's next attack. "Now Cyndaquil, Swift!"
Cyndaquil uses Swift, but Light Screen is still on causing the baby pokemon to panic a bit.
"Cyndaquil, calm down!"Dawn instructed.
"Chikorita use Razor Leaf on Cyndaquil!"Lyra ordered.
Chikorita used Razor Leaf to hit Cyndaquil.
"Totodile use Aqua Tail now!"Khoury ordered.
"Scyther use Night Slash!"Ethan ordered.
Totodile activated Aqua Tail and Scyther activated Night Slash to attack Cyndaquil, sending her to hit the ground.
"It seems that Cyndaquil is not used to battling since she freaked out when the attacks don't work."Ash exclaimed.
"Cyndaquil recently had hatched from her egg."Denise agreed.
"Come on, Cyndaquil!"Dawn shouted. "Get up!"
Cyndaquil, Monferno and Noctowl all remained down from their opponents' attacks.
"Hey, they look a bit down."Ethan chuckled.
"Awesome, everything is going just perfectly!"Khoury complemented.
"I am going to aim for Cyndaquil one more time."Lyra admitted. "Now Chikorita use Solar Beam!"
"Quick, Totodile! Run and use Bite!"Khoury ordered.
"Use Giga Impact on Noctowl, Scyther!"Ethan ordered.
Chikorita prepare to unleash Solar Beam, Totodile goes to bite and Scyther concentrates to use Giga Impact towards their opponents.
"Alright, Monferno go help Cyndaquil!"Ash ordered.
Monferno rushed forward to protect Cyndaquil.
"Cyndaquil use Smoke Screen!"Dawn ordered.
Cyndaquil uses Smoke Screen to negate Totodile's biting.
Both Chikorita and Scyther soon finished charging up their powers.
"All charged up!"Lyra and Ethan said in unison. "Use Solar Beam/Giga Impact!"
Chikorita and Scyther unleashed their attacks towards their opponents.
"Noctowl use Protect to defend Monferno and Cyndaquil!"Denise ordered.
Noctowl activated Protect to prevent Chikorita's Solar Beam and Scyther's Giga Impact from hitting them.
"Use Dig, Monferno!"Ash ordered.
Monferno digs and hits Totodile as Noctowl deactivated his Protect attack.
"They blocked it?!"Lyra said with a hint of shock.
"No way!"Ethan denied.
"Totodile!"Khoury shouted.
"Monferno use Mach Punch on Chikorita!"Ash ordered.
Monferno used Mach Punch to hit Chikorita.
"Cydaquil use Swift on Totodile!"Dawn ordered.
Cyndaquil used Swift to attack Totodile.
"Noctowl use Aerial Ace on Scyther!"Denise ordered.
Noctowl flew forward and hits Scyther with Aerial Ace.
Chikorita, Totodile and Scyther all dropped on the ground from their opponents' attacks.
"They all taken so much!"Khoury commented. "What do we do?"
Ethan frowned. "We can't give up now."
"Remember Khoury, we'll win this for sure as long as we believe in our pokemon."Lyra reminded and looked at Chikorita. "Come on, Chikorita! You can do it!"
"Scyther, don't give up!"Ethan remarked. "I believe in you!"
Chikorita and Scyther both stood up which surprised Dawn, Ash and Denise.
"Even after all that damage, Chikorita and Scyther both still got up!"Dawn commented.
Khoury smiled at Lyra and Ethan.
"Lyra, Ethan, you're right."Khoury admitted and looked at Totodile. "Totodile, I believe in you too!"
Totodile stood up and started to glow causing everyone to become surprised.
"Couldn't it be?!"Dawn and Ash said in unison.
"Totodile is evolving!"Denise shouted.
Totodile started to grow a bit bigger and the glowing stopped to reveal a new pokemon.
"Croconaw!"
"Whoa!"Khoury chuckled. "Totodile evolved into Croconaw!"
Lyra and Ethan took out their pokedexs to scan Croconaw.
"So th's Croconaw."Lyra said.
"Looks tough."Ethan commented.
"Croconaw, the Big Jaw Pokemon and the evolved form of Totodile."Lyra's Pokedex buzzed. "Once it bites down on something, it won't let go until it loses its fangs. But new fangs grow back quickly."
"The moves Croconaw is able to use are: Bite, Aqua Tail, Superpower and Hydro Pump."Ethan's Pokedex buzzed.
Khoury smiled at his newly evolved pokemon.
"Croconaw, you can use lots of great moves."Khoury stated. "Okay, Hydro Pump! Let's go!"
Croconaw fired Hydro Pump directly at Cyndaquil, Monferno and Noctowl, shocking Dawn, Ash and Denise.
"That Hydro Pump worked like a charm!"Khoury complemented.
"It's obvious with that kind of power, Croconaw is stronger than Totodile was."Dawn stated.
"Hey Monferno!"Ash called out. "Get up now!"
"Please, Noctowl!"Denise protested. "Don't give in!"
Cyndaquil, Monferno and Noctowl began to get up from the ground.
"Let's finish this up!"Lyra stated. "Okay, Chikorita use Tackle on Monferno!"
"Scyther use Slash on Noctowl!"Ethan ordered.
Chikorita and Scyther rushed forward to attack Monferno and Noctowl.
"Cyndaquil use Flame Wheel on Chikorita!"Dawn ordered.
"Noctowl use Heat Wave on Scyther!"Denise ordered.
"Monferno back them up with Flamethrower!"Ash ordered.
Cyndaquil uses Flame Wheel and Noctowl uses Heat Wave causing both Chikorita and Scyther to be defeated, shocking Lyra and Ethan.
"Both Chikorita and Scyther are unable to battle!"Brock announced.
"Chikorita!"Lyra gasped.
"No, Scyther!"Ethan shouted.
"Croconaw use Aqua Tail on Cyndaquil now!"Khoury ordered.
Croconaw uses Aqua Tail and launed toward Cyndaquil.
"Cyndaquil, dodge it quick!"Dawn ordered.
Cyndaquil quickly dodged Croconaw's Aqua Tail causing the pokemon to miss.
"Noctowl use Supersonic!"Denise ordered.
Noctowl flew up and hits Croconaw with Supersonic causing the evolved pokemon to become confused.
"What?!"Khoury said in quick.
"Quick, Monferno use Mach Punch!"Ash ordered.
Monferno rushed toward Croconaw and defeated him using Mach Punch.
"Croconaw is unable to battle!"Brock announced. "So the winners are Ash, Dawn and Denise!"
Prinplup, Pikachu and Torchic cheered at their friends victory as Lyra, Ethan and Khoury checked on their pokemon.
"Chikorita, hang in there."Lyra instructed.
"Scyther, you did a good job."Ethan assured.
"Croconaw, are you okay?"Khoury asked.
Chikorita, Scyther and Croconaw all stood up from the ground while smiling at their trainers.
Ash, Dawn and Denise praised Monferno, Cyndaquil and Noctowl for defeating their opponents.
"Monferno, you were awesome."Ash remarked.
Monferno smiled. "Monferno."
"Noctowl, you gave an amazing fight."Denise chuckled.
"Noctowl."Noctowl chirped.
"Wow, Cyndaquil."Dawn admitted. "You were amazing as well."
"Cynda cynda."Cyndaquil giggled.
The heroes then sat down in the coliseum sitting area to eat sandwiches with their Johto friends.
"You know Lyra using Light Screen to attack and counter strike, I thought it was a good strategy."Khoury commented.
"But don't forget we were up against Ash with seven badges and Dane with four ribbons."Lyra reminded.
"Don't also forget Denise with seven badges and five ribbons."Ethan added and looked at the others. "The strategy may have been good, but it wasn't enough that's all."
"I got to tell you Totodile evolving to Croconaw was the biggest surprise of all."Ash stated.
"Pikachu."Pikachu agreed.
"I'll tell you, Ash, Dawn and Denise's Team were something to see."Brock remarked. "But the team of Khoury, Lyra and Ethan worked well just as well. Honestly, I wasn't sure who was going to win."
"Well, Cyndaquil didn't have much fighting experience but this was perfect."Dawn responded.
"I am sure Cyndaquil will become more stronger if you keep training and bonding with her, sis."Denise assured.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"Lyra, Ethan, there's no doubt you two will be great trainers."Brock declared. "And Khoury a great breeder one of these days. Just make sure to keep working together and support each other just like today."
"Together?"Lyra said in surprise.
"Alright."Ethan replied.
Khoury notice his Pokegear beeping causing him to take it out from his backpack and answer it.
"Oh, hello Dad."Khoury greeted.
"Nice to see you, Khoury."Khoury's father complemented. "I've just arrived here at the airport and so I wanted to give you a call and see where I should meet you when you three get here."
Khoury stood up and began to panic at his father's respond.
"I totally forgot!"Khoury panicked. "The Johto flight is leaving any minute!"
"Yikes!"Ethan shouted.
"Oh no!"Lyra shrieked. "We gotta move!"
At the Sinnoh Airport...
Lyra, Ethan and Khoury met up with Khoury's father while Ash, Dawn, Denise and Brock rushed behind them.
"Ah, Khoury."Khoury's father greeted with a wave.
The seven friends sighed as they stopped running to catch their breaths.
"We made it."Khoury sighed.
"Yay."Ethan groaned with a tired look.
"And got it right under the wire too."Lyra patted.
Khoury smiled at Brock.
"Hey Brock, thanks for everything."Khoury thanked. "There is still so much more to learn from."
"Just remember the number one job of a breeder is to connect with pokemon."Brock instructed. "All you need is more time to meet different types trainers and coordinators, you know?"
"I'll do my best."Khoury assured with a nod.
"Hey, I know!"Lyra spoke up. "When we go back to Johto, let's go on a journey together, Ethan and Khoury. Think of the three of us together, we'd really be able to help each other sharpen up our skills and keep our spirits up, you know?"
"That would be great, Lyra."Ethan chuckled. "We can accomplish anything if we are together. What do you say, Khoury?"
"This is such a surprise."Khoury admitted. "I can't believe you both ask me to do that."
"Doesn't that mean no?"Lyra said sadly.
Khoury shook his head.
"The reason Totodile evolved, I believe it was because of you guys, Lyra and Ethan."Khoury explained. "I think the intense way you believe in your pokemon got transferred over to Totodile somehow."
Lyra and Ethan smiled at Khoury.
"Khoury."Lyra said.
"Dude."Ethan responded.
"When I'm with you guys, I feel like great things are going to happen all the time and so, I would like to go with you two."Khoury remarked.
"It's my pleasure."Lyra answered.
"Welcome aboard."Ethan chuckled.
"And the truth is there's nothing like good friends."Ash added. "Lyra and Ethan, I'm sure both of you will get your third Johto badge too."
"Pika pika."Pikachu said.
"And to win them, you both will be battling Whitney from the Goldenrod Gym or Morty from the Ecruteak Gym."Brock stated. "They are both really strong."
"No problem."Lyra assured. "We just have to do our best no matter what opponent we face."
"So Ash and Denise, you're both heading to get your eighth gym badges, right?"Ethan asked.
"That's right."Denise remarked. "If we win in the Sunyshore Gym, we both will compete in the Sinnoh League."
Pikachu smiled. "Pikachu."
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"And good luck at winning you're fifth ribbon, Dane."Lyra stated.
"Thanks and I'll get number 5 for sure."Dawn responded. "It will get me in the Grand Festival like Dennie."
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"It's obvious that my son owes you a lot for all the help you've given him."Khoury's father said. "I'm grateful to you all and so please accept this little gift."
Khoury's father gives Brock a Pokegear causing Ash, Dawn and Denise to look at it in amazement.
"Cool!"Lyra exclaimed. "A Pokegear!"
"Whoa, are you sure?"Ash asked.
"Of course."Khoury's father replied.
"Thank you so much."Brock thanked.
Khoury looked at Brock.
"Brock, do you think I can call you if I ever need some help or advice?"Khoury asked.
"Sure."Brock answered. "Anything you want is fine."
Later that evening, the airship flew away to head to the Johto Region as the heroes waved goodbye to Khoury, his father, Ethan and Lyra.
