Chapter 142: The Needs of the Three!
Denise found herself in a dream like area and was greeted by the Lake Trio; Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf.
"Oh, hi."Denise greeted with a smile. "So you're the Lake Trio that I've been hearing about?"
Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf eyed Denise quietly before they started floating away from her.
"Hey! Wait!"Denise protested as she headed after the three legendary pokemon. "Where are you?!"
Suddenly, a dark portal appeared in front of the Lake Trio causing them to glance at Denise before floating into it.
"What is it?!"Denise demanded. "What's going on?!"
Denise stopped running when she saw a dark figure staring at her with glowing red from inside the portal before it let out a loud roar causing the girl to become startled as shadows emerged from the portal and caused everything around her to break into nothingness.
Denise paled. "This is…"
Denise gasped in shock and woke up from her slumber as a bit of sweat poured down from her forehead.
It also turned Ash, Dawn and Brock all had a bad dream as she did.
"What a dream."Dawn stated. "I just saw a legendary pokemon."
"Me too."Brock answered.
"Did we all have the same dream?"Ash questioned.
"I think we all did, Ash."Denise agreed with a nod. "Which means the Lake Trio are likely in danger."
The Next Morning…
At Lake Valor, Hunter J's ship appeared from its cloaking field.
"We're now above Lake Valor."A henchman declared.
"Descend to 500 metres."Hunter J ordered. "Prepare to drop the Galactic bomb."
Hunter J's ship opened its ventral hatch, preparing the Galactic Bomb.
Unknown to the Pokemon hunter, Gary spotted the ship and reports to Professor Rowan over his radio as his Umbreon stood next to him.
In Sandgem Town...
Professor Rowan confirms through a live feed from his lab and decides to alert Yuzo and Professor Carolina at Lakes Verity and Acuity.
"Professor Rowan, this is Gary."Gary stated. "Pokemon Hunter J has appeared!"
"I am certain she has come for the legendary pokemon."Professor Rowan exclaimed and looked at his workers. "Alright. Get in touch with Yuzo at Lake Verity and Carolina at Lake Acuity!"
"Sir!"A female scientist worker said.
At Lake Valor...
Gary glared at Hunter J's ship before glancing at his Umbreon.
"Umbreon, let's go!"Gary insisted.
Umbreon gave a soft bark to his trainer before he took out his other pokeball.
"Electivire, come on out too!"Gary ordered.
Gary threw out his pokeball and his Electivire appeared in the lake.
"Toxicroak use Dark Pulse!"Saturn's voice ordered.
Gary's eyes widen seeing a Dark Pulse attack approaching to hit him and his pokemon.
"Oh no!"Gary shouted.
Electivire went in front of his trainer and Umbreon to block the dark type attack with his hands together.
The Thunderbolt pokemon winced a bit since he got damage from his opponent's attack.
"Electivire!"Gary said with a hint of worry.
Gary glared as Umbreon growled at Saturn and his Toxicroak, who came to stop them from distracting Hunter J and accompanied by two Team Galactic Grunts.
"Get lost."Saturn retorted.
"You're Team Galactic!"Gary snapped. "Well, I am not going to stand by and let you go! Now Umbreon use Psychic!"
Umbreon's eyes glowed cyan blue to use Psychic.
"Toxicroak, X-Scissor!"Saturn ordered.
Umbreon attempts to use Psychic, but Toxicroak quickly stopped the Moonlight pokemon's attack with an X-Scissor attack.
The Dark Type hit the ground in pain.
"Umbreon!"Gary shouted.
In Hunter J's Ship...
"Sir, we arrived at the drop point."A henchman reported.
"Release the Galactic bomb."Hunter J ordered.
In Lake Valor...
Hunter J's ship releases the Galactic bomb before it descended into the lake's depths and exploded into a brilliant blue light, affecting Azelf.
Ash dropped his spoon as he feels a sharp pain in his head causing Denise, Dawn and Brock to become concerned.
"Pika pi!"Pikachu gasped.
"Ash, what's wrong?"Dawn asked.
"You look like you're in pain."Denise said worriedly.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
Brock placed a hand on Ash's shoulder.
"Are you okay?"Brock asked.
"I felt it."Ash groaned as he touched his head. "It's Azelf."
"Azelf?"Denise repeated in surprise. "As in the legendary pokemon in Lake Valor?"
"You mean like in the dream?"Dawn suggested.
"If that's true, then what was that dream?"Brock questioned.
In Lake Valor...
The bomb creates a gap in the lake, revealing an orb of blue light at the lake's bottom as Gary and his pokemon stared at the sight in awe.
"It...it can't be!"Gary argued.
Saturn walked forward as he watched the sight in amusement.
"I am in lightened."Saturn stated with a smirk. "The Galactic bomb made out of the meteorite from Veilstone City is powerful enough to open up a hole in space. You see the Lake Pokemon don't live actually in a lake as it were. The truth is the Lake Pokemon simply observes our world from another dimension through a portal that looks very much like a lake."
Meanwhile...
Professor Rowan fills Ash and his friends in on the situation at Lake Valor.
"I can't believe you all felt something!"Professor Rowan said.
"Professor Rowan, did something happen in Lake Valor?"Denise asked.
"Yes."Professor Rowan replied, surprising the four trainers. "Team Galactic and Pokemon Hunter J have now arrived at Lake Valor. Gary is already there to defend them."
"Gary Oak?"Ash resumed.
Professor Rowan shows a video screen of Hunter J riding on Salamence and heading towards a small blue orb.
"It's J!"Ash said.
"So Team Galactic has joined forces with J."Brock commented.
"And they're after Azelf."Dawn added.
"This is bad..."Denise murmured quietly.
In Sandgem Town...
Yuzo and Carolina notes activity from their locations to inform Professor Rowan.
"Professor Rowan, this is Yuzo here."Yuzo stated. "Confirming not normal activity at Lake Verity! We'll keep you updated in any new information!"
"Understood."Professor Rowan answered.
"Professor Rowan, there is a new transmission coming from Carolina at Lake Acuity."A male scientist informed.
Carolina's face appeared on a small screen.
"It's happening here as well!"Carolina warned. "Is it those kids again?"
"Yes, it appears that those legendary pokemon are sending a signal to Ash and his friends."Professor Rowan stated.
At Lake Valor...
Gary glared at Hunter J before glancing at Electivire to attack.
"Electivire use Thunder!"Gary ordered.
Electivire prepared to attack Hunter J's Salamence with Thunder, but he is stopped by a Poison Jab from Toxicroak.
The Thunderbolt Pokemon hits the ground.
"Electivire!"Gary shouted.
Saturn ignored Gary's angry expression since he was focused on Hunter J.
"You stay out of this."Saturn warned.
The Galactic Grunts send out many Golbat to aid J in capturing the mysterious blue orb.
"Salamence use Hyper Beam!"Hunter J ordered.
Salamence fires Hyper Beam at the blue orb as Gary gasped and Saturn grinned evilly at the sight in front of them.
The orb brightened and disappeared, revealing the lake guardian Azelf.
Ash, Denise, Dawn and Brock gasped to see the orb of light was none other than the guardian of Lake Valor.
"It's Azelf!"Ash responded.
In Lake Valor...
Azelf yawned and stretched a bit before noticing it was being surrounded by a group of Golbat and Hunter J on her Salamence.
Seeing the danger, Azelf fires Extrasensory to take them down, Saturn orders the Golbat to use Supersonic.
"Use Supersonic!"Saturn ordered.
Azelf dodges the Supersonic attacks from the Golbat and takes the other ones down with Extrasensory, but Salamence blocks the Willpower Pokemon from escaping.
Hunter J fires her bracelet at Azelf and although it tried to block with Extrasensory causing both attacks go through each other.
While Hunter J and her Salamence take the hit, Azelf was turned to stone before being placed on a capture plate after being turned to stone.
Ash feels pain again in his head at Azelf's capture.
"Ash, are you feeling alright?"Dawn asked.
"Yeah, Ash."Brock said.
"What's happening?"Denise questioned.
Back at Team Galactic HQ...
Cyrus and Charon observe the live events on screen while a bunch of Team Galactic grunts sat on their desks.
"It has been said for centuries that the Lake Pokemon were created at the time of the very beginning of the universe."Cyrus explained. "Those three were in close harmony protecting Sinnoh. A legend also states if one of the lake trio members fall, all three would have to appear in order to restore balance."
Dawn and Brock both feel the cries of Mesprit and Uxie as Denise suddenly felt an unbearable pain in her head for a moment.
"Just now I felt it!"Brock admitted.
"So did I."Dawn added.
"I felt the same too!"Ash commented.
"Then that means all the Lake Trio has appeared!"Denise stated.
At Team Galactic HQ...
"This is the Lake Verity observation squad!"A Team Galactic Grunt reported. "Mesprit appeared and disappeared!"
"This is the Lake Acuity Squad!"Another Team Galactic Grunt declared. "Uxie teleported from here!"
Charon snickered evilly while Cyrus looked at the events on screen in silence.
"I know how you feel."Professor Rowan assured. "But I'm afraid it's too late."
"Professor, wait!"Ash protested. "We need to do something to help the pokemon out!"
"Yeah!"Dawn agreed. "The pokemon are pleading with us to save them all!"
"There is still hope!"Denise stated.
"We need to go!"Brock commented.
"Wait!"Professor Rowan protested.
The four trainers headed out of the Pokemon Center as Cynthia arrived in a SUV.
"Alright, hope in."Cynthia instructed.
"It's Cynthia!"Dawn, Denise, Ash and Brock said in unison.
"Pika!"Pikachu gasped.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped.
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted.
In Lake Valor...
Once Azelf was placed inside a capture plate, it was brought to Saturn's hands.
"No!"Gary shouted. "Azelf!"
Saturn's Toxicroak blocked Gary and his pokemon as two glowing white orbs suddenly appeared in the sky.
The glowing orbs revealed themselves to Uxie and Mesprit, who have come to rescue Azelf.
Uxie, and Mesprit arrive on scene, noticing their fallen comrade and try to free Azelf with Extrasensory attacks, but are forced to dodge Purugly's Shadow Ball and Skuntank's Flamethrower attacks.
Mars and Jupiter arrive in front of Saturn.
"It's just as Cyrus said it would be!"Mars complemented. "If one falls, the others come tumbling down too!"
"And that's their final mistake!"Jupiter remarked.
"What does that mean?!"Gary demanded.
Jupiter and Mars have the Golbat attack Mesprit and Uxie.
"Now Golbat, Supersonic!"Mars and Jupiter ordered in unison.
Uxie and Mesprit dodge Golbats' Supersonic before launching Future Sight attacks after Hunter J and her Salamence blocked their escape route.
The attacks go into the sky and dissipate, before J uses her bracelet to freeze Mesprit.
Uxie fires another Extrasensory attack, cracking J's goggles.
While Uxie smirks, J hits Uxie with the bracelet, freezing the final member of the lake trio, completing her mission.
In a Forest...
Ash and his friends race to Lake Valor in Cynthia's SUV as Dawn and Brock suddenly began to feel sharp pain in their heads.
"They got Mesprit!"Dawn cried.
"And Uxie too!"Brock added.
"What?"Denise gasped.
"Both of them?"Ash said in shock. "It can't be."
"If you want to help the two of them out, you have to take care of Team Galactic first."Cynthia instructed. "You're all familiar with Looker, aren't you?"
"Yeah, we are."Dawn agreed. "From the International Police. What about him?"
"He's on Mt. Coronet investigating."Cynthia admitted. "We're going to meet him now."
Denise suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head at the mention of Mt. Coronet.
"Why do I feel like this at the mention of that place?"Denise thought as she held her head.
Back at Lake Valor...
Gary watches helplessly with his pokemon as Team Galactic takes the lake trio.
"What have you done?!"Gary demanded.
Mars and Jupiter looked at Hunter J.
"Excellent work, Pokemon Hunter J."Mars stated. "I hope you are not hurt."
"See, we couldn't let ourselves being pushed around by the legendary trio of course."Jupiter complemented. "We are the chosen ones after all."
"Hunter J, well done."Saturn added. "You'll have your payment as agreed."
Hunter J said nothing as she and her Salamence debrief and head back to their ship, preparing to head back to base.
"Ready for departure?"Hunter J asked.
"Ready, sir."A henchman answered.
Hunter J sat back on her seat.
"Alright, return to base."Hunter J ordered.
Suddenly, the Future Sight attacks strike and knock out Hunter J ship's engines, sending it into the whirlpool.
Gary, Umbreon, Electivire and the Team Galactic members stare at the sight in shock.
"That has to be Mesprit and Uxie's future sight!"Saturn suggested and glanced at the Lake Trio. "The power of these legendary pokemon are frightening."
Inside the ship, Hunter J ordered her henchmen to increase the engine to more power.
"Increase the engine to max power!"Hunter J demanded. "Maintain our speed!"
"Engine losing power fast!"the second henchman said.
"We've lost control!"the first henchman added.
The Pokemon Hunter gritted her teeth in anger.
Hunter J and her crew brace as the ship hits the edge of the whirlpool and takes on water causing the glass ports to break as the ship descend into the depths before creating a huge explosion.
Team Galactic make their getaway in their chopper, leaving a frustrated Gary behind.
In the Forest...
Cynthia drives Ash and his friends as Rowan informs Ash that Gary is okay, but Team Galactic got away.
"So it looks like Gary is okay?"Ash said.
Professor Rowan nodded at Ash.
"They practically have Officer Jenny to check on the scanners for the entire areas."Professor Rowan explained.
"Do you have any idea where Team Galactic might've gone, Professor?"Dawn asked.
"No."Professor Rowan answered. "But I'll make sure to pass on any information that comes available. Cynthia and you kids as well, be careful."
"We will."Cynthia assured.
Professor Rowan ended the call as Brock looked at his companions.
"Now we have to do is wait."Brock stated.
"Do you remember the image in the Celestic Ruins?"Cynthia asked.
"Yeah."Ash, Dawn and Denise said in unison.
"As if this moment, Team Galactic has the Lake Trio and its two treasures in their possession."Cynthia exclaimed. "Which looks to me that they're fully prepared to call forth Dialga and Palkia. Of course, Dialga is known as the ruler of time and Palkia is known as the ruler of space and dimensions. But for two legendary pokemon like them to fall under human control is beyond comprehension. Why Team Galactic might be able to unleash ancient powers that we are not aware of this point."
At Team Galactic's Headquarters...
"Now begin."Cyrus ordered.
Charon chuckled evilly as he started his experiment as the others watched.
"It's time."Charon declared. "It's time for us to see the power of the red chain."
The Red Chain fragments are put into the stasis cells holding the lake trio, embedding the fragments on their foreheads and removing them from freeze, painfully drawing their power, which sends waves of pain through Ash, Dawn and Brock.
In the Forest...
Ash, Dawn and Brock groaned at the pain they were feeling as Denise, Torchic, Pikachu and Prinplup watched in worry.
"It hurts!"Ash wined.
"It's so intense!"Dawn added.
"But stronger than before!"Brock stated.
Suddenly, Ash, Dawn, Brock, Pikachu and Prinplup were teleported out of Cynthia's SUV causing Cynthia, Denise and Torchic to become shocked.
"Guys!"Denise shouted in shock. "No!"
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted worriedly.
Cynthia stopped driving her SUV before she, Denise and Torchic got off it.
"What is it, Cynthia?"Denise asked.
"It can't be."Cynthia denied. "They've been summoned."
Denise and Torchic follow the Champion's gaze and saw they arrived to the road that would lead them to Mt. Coronet.
At Team Galactic Headquarters...
Saturn, Mars and Jupiter were amazed to see the Lake Guardians now under the control of the red chain.
"There you see?"Charon asked with a smirk. "The Veilstone Meteor was created by the substance of the universe. They have a power that we just tapped into."
All the Galactic grunts are surprised by Ash, Brock and Dawn being teleported into their base.
"Well, could it be?"Charon sneered. "It looks like we got company."
"Where are we?"Ash asked.
Ash, Dawn and Brock became alarmed to see Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie trapped in small glass pods as their eyes glowed red.
"Azelf/Mesprit/Uxie!"Ash, Dawn and Brock said in unison.
"The three of them must've brought us here!"Brock suggested.
"Alright, what've you all done?!"Ash demanded.
"Pika!"Pikachu snapped.
Almost immediately, Brock's Croagunk appears, having sensed Toxicroak's presence.
Saturn simply smirked and took out the pokeball that contained Toxicroak inside.
"Toxicroak is looking forward to seeing you."Saturn stated as he threw out his pokeball.
Toxicroak was brought out as he and Croagunk glared at each other in anger.
"Skuntank, now!"Jupiter instructed. "Let's do this!"
"Purugly, we need your help too!"Mars added.
Mars and Jupiter send out Skuntank and Purugly to deal with the three heroes.
"You're ready, Pikachu?"Ash asked.
Pikachu nodded. "Pikachu!"
"You're not ready for us!"Mars and Jupiter said in unison.
"Toxicroak, time for fun."Saturn declared.
"Hold on."
Everyone looked up and turned to see Cyrus above them.
"No fighting allowed."Cyrus ordered.
"Cyrus here?"Ash said in surprise.
"I don't get it."Dawn replied.
"That means...you part of Team Galactic!"Brock admitted.
"Fighting by far is the most frightful by product of the human heart."Cyrus exclaimed as he headed down the stairs."Haven't I've been telling you that time and time again?"
"Sir."Saturn said.
"But since these children pose a very real threat to our plan of a new world order, isn't only natural to eliminate them?"Jupiter questioned.
Cyrus glared at Jupiter and Mars causing them to become silent in defeat.
"Behold this is the kind of accomplishment that the human heart has the potential to achieve!"Cyrus announced. "But in your hearts are fooled by emotions and fright that humanity will never advance. I guess I could let you know what is this about. I am part of this. Team Galactic is my creation and now you are in my creation's headquarters."
"Headquarters?"Ash questioned. "In here?"
"Correct."Cyrus agreed. "We're bringing the dawn of a new world order, so we're gathered here to discard the old world of discord and conflict and make a much better in place of it."
"So it was you who stole the Lustrous Orb in the Celestic Ruins!"Ash shouted. "You lied to all of us and lied to Cynthia too!"
"Lose your rage."Cyrus instructed in a calm tone. "It only destroys."
"No way!"Dawn snapped. "Not when you treat pokemon that way! This has got to stop! Now let them go back to their lake!"
"That can't be."Cyrus stated. "They're quite necessary for us to able to bring forth the new world."
"Then it is exactly how Cynthia said it was."Brock retorted.
Ash and Dawn glared at Cyrus in anger.
"Obviously, these children mean something important if the legendary saw fit to bring them all here."Cyrus stated. "We will need to keep them around until our task is completed. Just in case."
"Yes, sir."Saturn said while saluting.
On Saturn's command, the Team Galactic Grunts surround Ash, Brock and Dawn.
"You won't get away with this."Ash vowed with a glare. "Who cares if you're Team Galactic? Pikachu use Thunderbolt, let's go!"
Pikachu jumped forward and fired Thunderbolt.
"Prinplup use Bubble Beam!"Dawn ordered.
Prinplup fired Bubble Beam at his trainer's command.
The two attacks caused the pods in which the small guardians were to be shattered, destroying the glass and freeing the Lake Trio.
"Croagunk, do it!"Brock ordered.
With that, Croagunk charges forward and leaps into battle, preparing to fight Toxicroak for payback for what he did to him before.
