Chapter 155: Teaching the Student Teacher!
With Ash and Denise's Battles at the Sunyshore Gym being postponed, the group was returning to Lake Valor where the Twinleaf twins will compete in the Sinnoh Grand Festival.
The group arrive at a seaside town, where they see Johanna on the beach along with her Glameow, looking at the beautiful sunset.
"Hey!"Dawn remarked. "There she is!"
"Hi, mum!"Denise called out.
Johanna turned around and saw her twin daughters coming towards her with Ash and Brock following them from behind.
"Dawn."Johanna said with a smile. "Denise."
"Sorry, we're late."Dawn apologised.
"Prinplup."Prinplup replied.
"Were you waiting for too long?"Denise asked.
"Combusken."Combusken said.
"Not at all, dear."Johanna responded kindly.
"It's nice to see you again, Johanna."Brock stated.
"The same for me."Ash commented.
"Pika pika."Pikachu answered.
When the sun set down and it was night time, the group sat down with Johanna outside a cafe.
"So you two were going to meet your mum?"Ash assumed.
"Yep."Dawn giggled. "Surprise."
"So why meet up here?"Brock asked.
"See, every now and then I travel to different towns to offer a seminar called "My Very First Pokémon Coordinator Class" and all the students are all young children."Johanna exclaimed.
"That's so awesome, mum."Denise complemented.
"And it just so happens, I'm presenting a Coordinator Class in this very town first thing tomorrow."Johanna admitted.
"Well, mum was a Top Coordinator after all."Dawn chuckled.
Prinplup smiled. "Prinplup."
"So what do you exactly teach in this class?"Brock asked.
Johanna brought out a sheet of paper that showed the lesson plan of her Coordinator Class.
"This is the lesson plan."Johanna declared.
"Whoa."Ash commented.
"Let's see."Dawn responded.
Dawn, Denise, Ash and Brock checked the sheet as a waiter went over to Johanna.
"Excuse me, ma'am?"the waiter asked, earning Johanna's attention. "You have a phone call."
"Sure."Johanna replied and stood up from her seat to look at the group. "I'll be right back in a jiff."
Denise nodded. "Okay, mum."
Johanna walked away with the waiter as the group checked the lesson plans in the sheet.
"It says here 'Getting to know Pokémon?', 'How to catch Pokémon?', 'Being a Coordinator?' and 'How to breed Pokémon?'."Dawn read.
"Man."Ash remarked. "That stuff sound great."
"I would like to check it out."Denise declared kindly and looked at her companions. "Are you guys in?"
"Of course I'm in, Dennie."Dawn assured.
"So am I."Ash responded.
"Me too."Brock agreed.
Dawn, Denise, Ash and Brock then notice Johanna walking up to them with a sad expression on her face.
"A problem."Johanna murmured.
"What's the matter, mum?"Dawn asked.
"There's going to be a Pokémon Contest tomorrow at Neighborly Town right near here."Johanna declared. "But Nurse Joy is working round the clock, caring for a sick Pokémon. So they appear to be short with one judge."
"Hold on, then that means…"Denise started.
"That's right, Dennie."Johanna replied. "They went me to fill in as a judge in the contest. But my class is tomorrow."
Then an idea came to Dawn's head causing her to stand up from her seat.
"Mum, no need to worry!"Dawn declared with a confident smile, earning her companions' attention. "We'll teach your students for you!"
"That's a great idea, Dawn."Denise agreed with a nod and looked at Johanna. "If you can't teach your students, we'll do it for you."
"Yeah."Ash answered. "Of course, we will."
"I'll handle the breeding section."Brock commented.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Combusken."Combusken responded.
Johanna smiled at her daughters and their companions.
"That would be wonderful, if you don't mind."Johanna said kindly.
"We'll handle it."Ash remarked.
Pikachu nodded. "Pikachu!"
Later that Night…
In their hotel room, Denise stood writing down in her secret journal.
"Dear, journal. A lot has happened since I last wrote down. I have to first though that both me and Dawn have now five Ribbons which means both of us can compete in the Grand Festival! In addition, me and Ash just need to win the Beacon Badge in order for us to enter the Sinnoh League! Also, I have begin seeing Paul in a different way. I mean I don't find him rude and selfish that much after he surprisingly helped us during another attempted scheme of Team Rocket to steal our Pokémon. However, this is something that has been bothering me lately. Just before challenging the Canalave City Gym, Lucas told me he liked me and…asked if I could go out on a date with him. I told him I would think about it and he said he'll wait for my answer."
Denise paused for a moment before she continued writing down in her journal.
"To make things clear, I honestly don't know what to do. I have admired Lucas since our times in kindergarten and spend a lot of time with him more than any other boy I've known. I liked him a lot…and one time I thought he was one of my acquaintances most suitable to marry because with him I always felt calm and safe. Though all of that was during our time in kindergarten and now I honestly don't find the two of us liking each other a lot is anything erotic anymore. I only see him now as a good friend and nothing else. But I don't know how to tell him without hurting his feelings. What do I do?"
Denise covered her mouth to yawn.
"That is all I can write for now. Tomorrow me, Dawn, Ash and Brock have to teach our mother's class since she has to go fill in Nurse Joy's place as a Contest Judge in Neighborly Town. Yours Sincerely, Denise Berlitz."
Denise closed her journal and placed it in her backpack before going to her bed and fall asleep.
The Next Morning…
The day was bright and sunny, perfect for having a good time.
Dawn, Denise, Ash and Brock introduce themselves to the children that they were going to teach in the Coordinator Class.
"Good morning."Dawn greeted. "My name is Dawn and we're here today to teach the Pokémon Coordinator Class."
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"I'm Dawn's twin sister, Denise and this is one of my Pokémon friends Combusken."Denise replied.
"Combusken."Combusken said with a smile.
"My name is Ash and this is my parter Pikachu."Ash responded.
"Pikachu."Pikachu remarked.
"I'm Brock."Brock said. "And my goal is to be the top Pokémon Breeder in the world."
All the children smiled except for one.
"Come on. Do you even know what you're doing?"A little boy asked rudely, earning his companions' attention. "Have you won any Contest ribbons yet?"
This caused Dawn to show the five ribbons in her Ribbon Case.
"Ta da."Dawn giggled. "Just take a look inside these cases. I've got five Ribbons."
Ash showed his Badge Case to the children.
"And me?"Ash replied. "I have seven Badges so far."
Denise took out her Ribbon Case and Badge Case to show to the children.
"As for me, I've got five Ribbons like my sister and seven Badges like Ash."Denise exclaimed. "I compete in both Pokémon Contests and Gym Battles."
All the children, except the rude boy, were impressed.
"It looks like both of you are missing your last Badges."the rude boy retorted.
Ash sweat dropped. "I guess you can look at it that way."
"We've come a long way, but it's gonna be a while for us to finish our journey to compete in the Sinnoh League."Denise declared with a bright smile.
"Alright then, let's pet and get to know some Pokémon."Dawn insisted.
"Pika!"Pikachu answered.
Pikachu went off of Ash's shoulder to go next to Prinplup and Combusken.
The seminar begins with getting to know Pokémon, Prinplup, Combusken and Pikachu volunteering to be petted and fawned over by the children.
The rude boy stood where he was while the other children went to pet Prinplup, Combusken and Pikachu.
"Please."the rude boy scowled. "You can't go anywhere without finding tons of Pokémon."
Dawn and Denise were quiet at the rude boy's respond while the other children petted Prinplup, Pikachu and Combusken.
"I can't believe how soft his fur is."the second boy named Sammy said.
"Combusken's fur shines like the sun."the third boy named George chuckled.
"Nice to meet you, Prinplup."the first girl named Lucy remarked.
"Prinplup."Prinplup replied.
The rude boy went over to Prinplup and started stretching out his face.
This caused Dawn and Prinplup to become angry at the rude boy's action.
"Prinplup prinplup!"Prinplup snapped.
"That is no way to treat a Pokémon."Dawn informed with a frown. "You have to try to be nice to them instead."
The rude boy just huffed and looked away.
"What's your name?"Denise asked.
"Thomas."the rude boy responded.
"So, Thomas, put yourself in the Pokémon's position."Dawn insisted. "You wouldn't want to be teased now, would you? The same goes for Pokémon."
"Alright, I hear you."Thomas retorted.
"I have an idea."Ash remarked. "How about we bring out all of our Pokémon?"
Denise smiled at Ash.
"That's a great idea, Ash."Denise agreed.
"How about we bring out a bunch of our Pokémon?"Dawn asked.
This caused the children, minus Thomas, to become excited and cheer.
The gang brings out their full party, to give the kids a chance to become familiar with more Pokémon.
Even the hard headed Thomas was quite fascinated by the array of Pokémon.
Dawn and Denise smiled at Thomas when they notice he was happy to see their Pokémon, but he made his smile vanish when he saw them staring at him.
"That's more like it."Dawn complemented proudly. "Now let's go and get to know some Pokémon."
"But remember to be nice."Denise instructed. "That's the key in building trust and friendship between you and Pokémon."
"Okay!"the children answered happily.
The children all go to see the heroes' Pokèmon, except Thomas.
"Pokémon Breeding is all about giving the best care of your Pokémon that you can possibly can."Brock explained. "Making sure they're happy and healthy."
"You feed them Pokémon food, right, Brock?"Sammy asked.
"Right."Brock agreed and placed Pokémon food in a bowl near Croagunk. "But giving Pokémon food to your Pokémon's just one part of the process. Breeders adjust the diet and flavour for each one. If you find they're not eating, you change things around a bit. By doing that you're maintaining your Pokémon's good health."
Happiny started eating the Pokémon food in the bowl.
"So how do you tell if a Pokémon's healthy or not?"Lucy questioned.
"The easiest way's to check their luster."Brock declared as he stroked Croagunk's head. "And if their body isn't smooth and healthy, it could be a sign that they might not be feeling very well."
"What about them?"Sammy asked.
"They're healthy because they're looking great."Brock answered.
Denise fed a sour flavoured poffin to Vibrava as two of the children watched her.
"It's important to check that your Pokémon is enjoying the food that you're giving them."Denise explained. "Though all Pokémon like different flavoured foods, don't feel down if you don't give them the correct ones the first time. It's just a test of trail and error until you have the right flavoured foods for them."
"Whoa…"Mia and George said in unison.
"Prinplup! Prinplup! Prinplup!"
Everyone looked behind them, seeing Thomas laughing while being chased by an angry Prinplup, who had graffiti on his face.
"Prinplup's got a moustache!"Thomas laughed.
"And it's Thomas again."Denise murmured.
"Prinplup's having a bad day."Ash assumed.
Dawn closed her eyes and let out a sad sigh.
Ash then teaches the class how he got Gible.
"And then my Pikachu and Gible battled each other. But I couldn't catch Gible at the time."Ash explained. "After that, Gible followed us. Although, did I really catch Gible?"
"Of course you did, Ash."Denise said with a frown. "That was before you used Gible to battle Barry's Empoleon."
"Right."Ash replied with a sheepish smile and patted Gible at the back. "Anyway, Gible and I are together now. That's what really matters. Right, Gible?"
Gible gnaws on Ash's head in respond causing the children to laugh at the sight.
"Okay, Gible."Ash responded. "Return."
Ash returns Gible in his Poké Ball which he then shows to the children.
"And check this. This is a Poké Ball."Ash replied. "After you have a Pokémon Battle with them, you use Poké Balls to catch them."
Ash gives the children a rubber ball; they need to hit a stone with it, pretending they have a battle.
"No big deal."Thomas sneered. "All trainers have at least one of those."
Ash sweat dropped. "I guess you're right."
"So why don't we all get practising?"Dawn suggested.
"That's a good idea, sis."Denise agreed.
Ash then gave a lesson on how to catch a Pokémon, using a marked rock and rubber balls for target practice.
"Now let's pretend that target marks a Pokémon and try to hit it."Ash instructed.
Sammy goes off from the rock seat he was on.
"I wanna!"Sammy insisted. "I wanna!"
"Alright, then let's use this rubber ball to practice."Ash suggested and took out a rubber ball.
Sammy takes the rubber ball from Ash.
"Okay."Sammy answered.
Prinplup and Pikachu went next to the marked rock.
"And you'll pick them."Ash commented. "Give it a shot, Sammy."
"And go!"Sammy remarked.
Sammy throws the rubber ball and hit the small rock next to the marked rock.
Pikachu catches the rubber ball in his hands.
"Aw, I missed."Sammy said sadly and scratched the back of his head. "Man, this is hard."
"Keep practicing and you'll be able to get it."Ash assured.
Sammy nodded as Ash glanced at the other children.
"Me!"Lucy remarked as she went off her seat. "Me!"
"Here you go."Ash responded and handed the rubber ball to Lucy. "Good luck."
"And here it goes!"Lucy giggled.
Lucy threw the rubber ball and it was close on hitting the marked rock.
Prinplup picked the second rubber ball.
"Man, you almost had it."Ash complemented.
"Oh, well."Lucy said sadly.
Denise looked at Ash.
"Ash, I think you should give an example how to throw a Poké Ball in order to catch a Pokémon."Denise suggested.
"Great idea, Dennie."Ash replied and took out a Poké Ball while posing. "Let me show you how its done. First you have to pose like this."
"You don't really have to pose before you throw it."Dawn responded.
"Ash is just pumped."Brock chuckled. "Wonder what's that all about."
"This is how you toss it!"Ash stated.
Ash throws the Poké Ball and it hit the target rock directly.
This caused the children (even Thomas) to become amazed.
"Awesome!"Sammy, Lucy, George and Mia answered in unison.
"And that's how you catch a Pokémon."Dawn informed.
The empty Poké Ball returned in Ash's hands.
"And then you make a final pose!"Ash stated and held the empty Poké Ball high in the air. "I've got a Pokémon!"
"Pikachu!"Pikachu cheered.
Denise chuckled sheepishly at the sight while Combusken sighed bluntly.
"Ash really loves posing."Denise complemented.
"Combusken."Combusken replied.
However, Thomas was not impressed by the surprisingly good lesson Ash gives.
"That's easy."Thomas declared.
"Thomas, why don't you give it a try?"Ash insisted.
Thomas got off the rock seat he was on and took the rubber ball Pikachu held.
He proved his amazing ball throwing skills by going completely off target and hitting Prinplup in the face.
This caused Prinplup to become angry and start chasing him again.
"Thomas!"Dawn scowled.
"You told me to throw it!"Thomas laughed.
"Thomas likes to joke around."Ash replied.
"Why tease just Prinplup?"Brock murmured.
"That's a good question."Denise said.
Later, lunch was ready, which were Brock's sandwiches the children are eating.
"Time to eat!"Sammy, Lucy, George and Mia cheered in delight.
Sammy, Lucy, George, Mia and Thomas started eating the sandwiches that Brock made for them.
"Wow!"Sammy remarked. "This is yummy!"
"Thank you."Brock responded.
"Brock has to be the greatest chef in the world."Dawn commented and looked at Thomas. "Thomas, how is it?"
"It's okay."Thomas grumbled.
Dawn and Brock chuckled sheepishly.
"Is that nice?"Dawn and Brock responded in unison.
Denise spoke to the children.
"Brock has made plenty of sandwiches, kids."Denise encouraged. "So eat as much as you like!"
"Yay!"Sammy, Lucy, George and Mia cheered happily.
Ash, Brock, Dawn and Denise then had their lunches near the children while Pikachu, Prinplup and Combusken ate their bowls of Pokémon food.
"Dawn, Dennie, both of you get ready."Ash insisted. "You two are up next. The class of coordinators."
Dawn let out a sad sigh.
"Dawn, what's wrong?"Brock asked.
"I'm worried about Thomas."Dawn exclaimed sadly as she held her sandwich. "Thats what's wrong. I just hope we're doing a good job."
"We're doing just fine, Dawn."Denise assured with a smile. "Thomas is enjoying the class too like the other kids. He just doesn't know how to actually show it. Hopefully, he'll learn if we continue setting a positive example."
Denise takes a bite from her tuna sandwich.
"I hope you're right."Dawn responded.
"Thomas probably likes pulling practical jokes."Ash suggested.
"Just remember to do your best and you'll be fine."Brock insisted.
Dawn became quiet as she glanced at Thomas, who was busy eating his sandwich.
After lunch time ended, Dawn and Denise teaches the children that they need to show their Pokémon's moves to the audience at the Contest.
"Alright, everyone. A Pokémon Contest has two rounds; the performance and the contest round."Dawn informed. "A Coordinator needs to decide the type of performance they're going to show and what type of moves they're going to use as well."
"But remember your Pokémon are the real stars. Not you."Denise stated. "Did you all get that?"
"Yeah!"Sammy, Lucy, George and Mia answered.
"Round one is where the Coordinators show off their Pokémon, you see?"Dawn said.
"Sorry."Thomas replied, raising up his hand. "But I don't have a clue what you two are talking about. Say exactly what you mean."
Both Dawn and Denise sigh at Thomas's declaration.
"It's best if I just show you."Denise insisted and took out two Poké Balls. "Drifblim! Luxray! Stage On!"
Denise threw out her two Capsule Balls causing red rose petals to come out before Drifblim and Luxray.
"Drifblim!"
"Luxray!"
Drifblim and Luxray landed on the ground.
"Watch carefully, everyone."Denise instructed. "This is what a combination is. Drifblim use Ominous Wind! Luxray use Shock Wave!"
Drifblim unleashed Ominous Wind in the air and Luxray used Shock Wave causing the two attacks to merge and create a sparkly and electric like scene which amazed the children.
"Check it out!"Lucy remarked.
"Whoa!"George gasped.
"That's so cool!"Mia commented.
"Now let me show you another one!"Dawn remarked and took out two Poké Balls. "Mamoswine! Pachirisu! Spotlight!"
Dawn's Capsule Balls opened causing pink hearts to come out before Pachirisu and Mamoswine appeared in the scene.
"With Pachirisu's electricity, I'm going to make Mamoswine's Ice sparkle!"Dawn declared excitedly. "And I call this move, Ice Chandelier!"
"Ice Chandelier?"Thomas, Sammy, Lucy, George and Mia said in confusion.
"Ice Chandelier?"Denise, Ash and Brock repeated.
Prinplup and Combusken glanced at each other in confusion.
"Mamoswine use Ice Shard!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine activated Ice Shard.
"Now shatter it!"Dawn instructed.
Mamoswine used Ice Shard and shatters it, which makes the ice spin around Pachirisu.
"Awesome."Ash chuckled.
"Pachirisu use Discharge!"Dawn ordered.
Since Pachirisu was not frozen, so he used Discharge to illuminate a blue light around ice.
The children watch the sight in amazement.
"It works!"Dawn remarked.
However, the ice shatters around and drops below Pachirisu's feet.
"What happened?"Dawn said in confusion.
"Come on."Thomas retorted. "It wasn't a finished move. Pachirisu was just standing still in front of the ice. So it wasn't fun to watch."
Dawn became sad, knowing Thomas was right.
"I guess you're right."Dawn replied.
The children then later played in the sand with Pachirisu, Pikachu, Mamoswine, Combusken, Luxray and Drifblim.
Dawn stood sitting in a rock and stared at the crushing waves of the ocean, feeling troubled of her combination.
Then Denise went to sit next to her older twin sister.
"Dawn, what's wrong?"Denise asked.
"Thomas was right when he said it wasn't a finished move."Dawn stated.
"Ice Chandelier was a completely new combination you never tried doing before so it didn't come easy the first time you've done it."Denise explained. "Maybe you should just stick with the combinations you know."
"Okay but I really love Ice Chandelier and want to make it work."Dawn admitted. "I wonder if it could be even done."
"Of course, it can."Denise assured. "You just need to slowly the connect the correct dots to nail the combination."
Dawn was silent for a moment before her eyes widen and she stood up.
"That's it!"Dawn chuckled. "I think I know how to make it work this time!"
After play time ended, Dawn displays the children that when Pachirisu is inside the ice, he will spin.
"Okay. Listen up. This is the real Ice Chandelier."Dawn declared, making the children gasp in awe. "First off, Mamoswine will shatter Ice Shard with his tusks. Next the shattered Ice Shard will surround Pachirisu."
"So it's just the same thing as before."Thomas retorted.
"This is where things change, Thomas."Dawn assured and showed another picture. "Your comment ended up being good advice."
"It did?"Thomas said in surprise.
"Before Pachirisu uses Discharge and stand still, but this time Pachirisu will spin using Discharge."Dawn remarked. "That way the ice should sparkle more beautifully than you can imagine. No need to worry! Because I'm sure it is going to work this time!"
"Sounds good."Ash chuckled. "It's worth a shot."
"Yeah."Brock agreed. "It sounds like it will work."
"Go for it, Dennie!"Denise encouraged.
Sammy, Lucy, George and Mia (except Thomas) cheered at Dawn.
"Okay, Mamoswine!"Dawn stated. "Use Ice Shard!"
Mamoswine activates Ice Shard.
"Now batter it with your tusk!"Dawn ordered.
Mamoswine shattered the Ice Shard and the ice surrounds Pachirisu.
"Now you'll shine!"Dawn declared.
Pachirisu gets trapped in ice, but doesn't get frozen as before.
"Now use Discharge!"Dawn ordered.
Pachirisu uses Discharge to make the ice sparkle.
"He used Discharge!"George commented.
"Think he'll be able to spin?"Mia asked.
"Now you spin right where you are!"Dawn ordered.
Pachirisu spins while using Discharge, making an even more dazzling sight than before.
This caused everyone to gasp in amazement.
"Faster!"Dawn insisted.
Pachirisu spins more quickly causing the ice sphere to become sparklier.
"Looking good!"Ash praised.
"Pika!"Pikachu agreed.
However, Pachirisu gets confused by all the spinning and the ice sphere shatters before he collapsed in the sand.
Dawn becomes disappointed that she failed again.
"Oh no."Dawn murmured.
"And it was so close."Denise sighed.
"It's a good idea."Brock commented. "But Pachirisu needs to only spin a little bit for the combination to work."
Dawn rushed over to Pachirisu to check if he was fine.
"Are you okay?"Dawn asked.
Pachirisu stood up and smiled at his trainer.
"And I was so confident that it would work."Dawn said as she went on her knees. "Maybe spinning in the ice wouldn't cut it."
"You can do it, Dawn!"Ash encouraged.
Pachirisu speaks to Dawn, saying he still wants another try.
"Pachirisu, you wanna take another turn?"Dawn asked.
"See, sis? Pachirisu believes in you."Denise remarked. "So you mustn't give up."
"You shouldn't waste your time."Thomas retorted rudely. "Come now. Who wouldn't become dizzy after all that spinning? No matter what you try is useless."
"Thomas, you maybe right."Dawn assumed.
Dawn's eyes widen when she got another idea from Thomas.
"Of course!"Dawn replied and took out a Poké Ball. "Buneary, your turn! Go!"
The Poké Ball opened and Buneary came out.
"Buneary!"
Dawn sends Buneary to use her instead of Mamoswine.
"You're using Buneary instead of Mamoswine?"Ash asked.
"What exactly are you up to?"Brock questioned.
"Pika pika."Pikachu said.
"Combusken."Combusken replied.
"Just you watch."Dawn instructed.
Denise smiled at Dawn.
"Keep trying until you get it, Dawn."Denise thought.
"Buneary, use Ice Beam and surround Pachirisu now!"Dawn ordered.
Buneary used Ice Beam while twirling herself around, making her attack twirl around Pachirisu.
The children (except Thomas) gasped at the sight.
"Keep using Ice Beam until it works around Pachirisu!"Dawn instructed.
Buneary continued using Ice Beam until it surrounds Pachirisu, making more space for her.
"Just like she said."Thomas murmured in amazement.
Prinplup goes next to Thomas.
"What's Dawn trying to do?"Ash asked.
Denise smirked. "The correct way for her combination to work, Ash."
"Of course."Brock agreed with a smile. "The air pocket in Mamoswine's Ice Shard was really small, so Pachirisu got dizzy from all that spinning. But now with Buneary's Ice Beam surrounding Pachirisu, there's no need to spin. Pachirisu can just run inside that ice sphere."
Buneary stopped using Ice Beam until the ice sphere was big enough for Pachirisu.
"That was good thinking, Dawn."Ash declared.
"Alright, Pachirisu!"Dawn responded. "Use Discharge while running!"
Pachirisu runs and uses Discharge, which emits a lot of blue light from the ice.
This caused Thomas, Sammy, Lucy, George and Mia to cheer at the Squirrel Pokémon.
"You can do it, Pachirisu!"Thomas called out. "You can do it!"
"Go for it!"Ash declared.
"Almost there, Pachirisu!"Denise announced.
"Just a little bit more!"Brock informed.
Prinplup, Combusken and Pikachu all shouted at Pachirisu to not give up.
"Do it!"Dawn called out.
Pachirisu soon powered up more and finished running, creating a glowing ice chandelier which amazed his trainer and everyone else.
"That's it!"Dawn gasped in amazement.
The children were amazed at the beautiful ice chandelier before them.
"Whoa!"Sammy remarked.
"So pretty!"Lucy complemented.
"Shiny!"Mia giggled.
"It worked! It worked!"Thomas laughed. "Amazing!"
In the revelry, Thomas and Prinplup unexpectedly hug, a friendship having been formed between the two as they cheered Dawn and her Pokémon on.
"She did it."Ash chuckled.
"Pika."Pikachu agreed.
"Dawn tried, but could never make it work using Ice Shard."Brock explained. "But by switching to Ice Beam, it works beautifully."
The ice sphere shattered, releasing Pachirisu from it.
Denise and Combusken went over to Dawn.
"Congratulations, Dawn."Denise praised proudly. "I knew you could do it in the end."
Combusken smiled. "Combusken."
"Thanks, Dennie."Dawn answered before looking at Buneary and Pachirisu. "Pachirisu, Buneary, thanks so much."
Pachirisu and Buneary smiled at Dawn.
"And thank you, Thomas."Dawn thanked
Dawn thanks Thomas, but notice he was gone.
"Hey, where's Thomas?"Dawn asked.
Ash, Brock and Denise notice Prinplup was gone too.
"Prinplup's gone too."Ash stated.
Pikachu notice something from behind.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu replied.
Everyone followed Pikachu's gaze to see Thomas having fun with Prinplup in the water.
"Well, what do you know."Denise chuckled.
"What is going on with them?"Dawn asked in surprise.
"So that's what it was all about."Brock commented. "Thomas must've liked Prinplup from the start, but just didn't know how to say it. So in Thomas' frustration, the only thing he knew was to tease him."
"Of course."Ash said with a smile.
Dawn and Denise smiled as they watched Thomas and Prinplup play together.
The group then watched the sunset in the beach with the children.
"Thomas, I want you to know I mastered Ice Chandelier with your advice."Dawn declared. "Thanks a lot."
"That Ice Chandelier of yours was really pretty."Thomas praised.
"You think so?"Dawn asked.
Thomas gives a nod.
"It will look great in the Grand Festival."Thomas replied and looked at Denise. "The same goes with your combination with Drifblim and Luxray, Denise."
Denise smiled. "Why thank you."
"Thanks, Thomas."Dawn thanked. "I'll do my best."
Thomas looked at Prinplup.
"Prinplup, I'm so sorry I teased you like that."Thomas apologised.
Prinplup smiled at Thomas and gave him a light tap on the shoulder, showing that he has forgiven him.
"Prinplup prin."Prinplup remarked.
The group then focused back on watching the sunset.
Later that Day…
Ash, Dawn, Denise and Brock met up with Johanna at the cafe.
"So how was the Neighborly Town Contest, Johanna?"Ash asked.
"I'm happy to report that Jessilina put on a fantastic performance and ended up winning."Johanna declared.
"That must mean Jessilina is working hard too."Dawn assumed.
"Now she has four Ribbons."Denise complemented.
Johanna gives Brock some buns, which were Neighborly Town's specialty.
"And here is Neighborly Town's specialty, Neighborly sweet buns."Johanna commented.
"Wow."Brock remarked. "Thank you so much."
Johanna looked at Dawn and Denise.
"So, Dawn, Denise, I hear you two are doing very well at making combinations."Johanna informed.
Dawn nodded. "That's right."
"You bet we are, mum."Denise chuckled.
"I'm so glad that you two are working hard."Johanna praised and looked at Ash. "And thank you all for teaching my class today, you saved me."
"We had a great time."Ash admitted.
Then Johanna took out two white gift parcels from her bag.
"I've got something for you both, Dawn and Denise."Johanna remarked.
Johanna handed the gift parcels to her daughters.
"What are they, mum?"Dawn asked.
"Brand new dresses for the Grand Festival and the Sinnoh League made by yours truly."Johanna stated.
Dawn and Denise let out excited gasps as they hugged their gift parcels.
"Alright!"Dawn giggled.
"Wow!"Denise remarked.
"Good luck, sweethearts."Johanna commented.
"Thanks, mum!"Dawn and Denise said in unison.
Johanna smiled at Ash.
"And best of luck to you and Denise at getting into the Sinnoh League, Ash."Johanna declared.
"Thanks."Ash replied. "We'll do our best."
"Pika pika."Pikachu agreed.
"Combusken."Combusken responded.
The next day, the group leaves Johanna and the children start to continue their trip to Lake Valor.
