"I'm surprised you said yes." Bessie shook her head, applying some lip gloss on Joey's lips.
Joey shrugged, chuckling lightly as she turned away. "He's not as bad as he used to be." She hadn't mentioned the fact that she and Pacey had shared a kiss the previous night.
"Well, it is Pacey Witter."
Joey rolled her eyes pulling the shall tighter around her. "Thanks Bess…see you later." Joey moved quickly out of her sister's house, her nerves already on edge from this oddball date with an equally oddball companion.
"Hey." Pacey chuckled nervously stepping away from the Wagoneer to guide her to the passenger side. "I don't have the car long…but what I have planned that should be okay."
"Planned?" Joey asked in shock, her eyes wide as she settled in the seat and he closed the door, walking back to the driver's side.
"Kind of." Pacey muttered anxiously closing the driver's side door shut behind him. "Its not much."
Joey smiled at Pacey's uncharacteristically jittery behavior. At least she wasn't the only nervous one.
They arrived at a small nook just off the beach, a small picnic set up on the sand.
"This is beautiful…where did you find this place?"
"One night after Pop got to be too much." Pacey shrugged non-committally helping her sit on the blanket.
They chatted and bantered easily but there was still a nervous edge between them. After taking a long stroll on the beach Pacey drove her back home.
As they walked back toward the front of her house Pacey turned to her shrugging again. "Sorry…I thought it would be better…I'm sorry if I bored you."
Curling her hair behind her ear Joey chuckled shaking her head. "No, it was nice…but…"
"Its ok…" Pacey cut her off smiling gently. Pulling her into a bear hug he pressed a soft kiss on her forehead, leaning back. "Goodnight Jo."
"Night Pace." Joey sighed watching her friend stumble back to the car, a slightly somber look on his face as he got back behind the wheel and drove off.
When Joey stepped back inside Bessie called out from the kitchen. "How was the date?"
"It was…okay." She repeated Pacey's word, trying to ignore the tingling on her forehead from his friendly kiss.
Read and review…if you want more. I know another new one but this one actually came to me as I was working on the next chapter of 'Agony.' I promise this will end up being a Pacey/Joey fic.
