(A/N): Hey Guys! Sorry for not updating for ages, but I have a surprise! I've had a story idea stuck in my head for a while now, and... well, I just uploaded the first chapter. It's an AU... of this story. Yeah. It basically hinges on one major event not happening, and everything changes from there, like the butterfly effect.

So:

'What if Cipicia Joannis had never found out Leo was a half-vampire?'

The story is called Blood Begets Blood, and it should be on my page as of five minutes ago.

Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.

Leo

I had to admit, as soon as I passed through the doors to the house, I lost almost all of my confidence.

The only thing that kept me going was fury and grief.

I felt her before I saw her, hiding behind the door frame to the sitting room, and I rolled my eyes.

"Come out, come out wherever you are." She slithered out from behind the wall, cold blue eyes meeting mine.

"What do you want?" She asked harshly, and I glowered at her, hands fisted at my sides.

"I want out of our little deal, that's what I want." She cocked an eyebrow, and I crossed my arms over my chest to show I was serious. "And when I leave, I'm taking Mia with me." Her eyebrows shot up now, and she chuckled sharply.

"Oh, you're optimistic today, aren't you?" I just stared her down.

"You don't want to mess with me today Cipicia." I warned her, and she seemed to notice the hard edge in my eyes. I then got to watch the exact moment where she realized exactly what the substance staining my clothes was- blood, and not mine. I knew when she realized, because I felt the fear zing through her veins almost like they were my own- if I hadn't been able to sense it through her blood, all I would have had to go off of was the slightest widening of her eyes.

"What makes you think I'll just let you waltz out of here with your sister, completely free?" I shrugged.

"It doesn't seem like you have much of a choice in the matter." I heard one of the stairs creak, and knew, with a slight focus, that it was Mia. I saw my mother's eyes dart to the spot as well, starting to move slowly between me and her direction, thinking I wouldn't notice.

"I won't let you-" I rolled my eyes.

"Mia, pack a bag." Heavier footfalls now as she retook the stairs, no longer hiding, and racing against time.

"You can't just take her-" I cut her off, scowling.

"Would you shut up? It's not like you're a fit enough parent to take care of her!" Her eyes widened,, full of fury and pain, and my stepfather rounded the corner into the front room we were currently dominating.

"Leonides." He greeted thickly, and I acknowledged him with a nod.

"Sebastien." It was hard not to call him 'father'. He was my father, for the first few years of my life after all.

Now, I had lost my real father.

"He's taking Mia." His eyes widened, and he crossed the room quickly to guard the stairs with his wife.

"He damn well isn't." He said in a low voice, and I had to roll my eyes again.

"Do you really think you can stop me?" I asked, actually curious. Sure, they were both reasonably skilled wizards, but I was a P.O'ed half-vamp, and they sure as hell weren't about to keep me from getting my little sister out of here.

"We can try." Sebastien said, and although he didn't look confident, I knew better than to underestimate him. I saw that look in his eyes. Mia was his daughter, and even though the bond of blood didn't mean all that much to them, Mia was like a possession to them, and there was no way anyone was going to take that away.

(A/N): So, what did you think?

Also, I go to Canberra in eleven days, and I've entered a competition to go there again in October for a week, so... sorry.

Please review and/or check out my other stories!

This chapter has had small edits made to it on 31/12/22 - I had Cipicia notice the blood all over Leo and be frightened by it, because I just sort of glossed over that when I originally wrote the chapter.
