Au facts:

Some time has passed since the groups training duel, and now they are on the clock. They now have two days until the deadline and they still haven't found a sixth duelist. Pomni was of course was anxious, since this agency was her only hope at even attempting to solve this digital world's secrets. Although she was wanting to find a solution, she knew she couldn't rush these things. While she was out however, that's when she heard some interesting rumor going on around the Pro Dueling Circuit. The long standing champion has lost their title, and not because they lost in title match, but because they themself have stepped down. From there, a lot of rumors have been going on about why the former champion relinquished his title.

While pondering this, Pomni bumps into a purple lagomorph by the name of Jax. Pomni quickly apologizes, Jax just shrugs it off saying that it wasn't the first time someone clumsily runs into him. Just from his tone alone, Pomni was already starting to become annoyed with this guy, so she excuses herself saying she was busy with something. That's until Jax comments about if this was about Pomni wanting to find a sixth member for her agency. Before she even asked, Jax states that he knows because he has recently heard how "The Amazing Duel Circus" was starting to make a comeback, but was still lacking its final member. So he offers a proposal, the two of them have a duel and if Pomni manages to impress him enough, then he would gladly join Caine's agency. While she wanted to ask how he knew Caine, she decides to push that thought away as this may be the best chance to acquire their sixth teammate.

Before the duel starts, Jax presents to Pomni two decks, teasingly asking her which she would prefer. Initially shocked that Jax also holds two decks, she puts it away and chooses one of them, which is revealed to be a "Buster Blader" deck. Seeing his skill first hand, as well as thinking back to the rumors she has heard, Pomni puts two and two together and asks if Jax is the former duel champion who stepped down recently. Jax only offers a maybe, maybe not response, but he may answer after the duel. The duel seemed almost back and forth, but Pomni knew that Jax was only holding back, and in the end Pomni lost.

At first, Pomni was devastated by her loss and feared that she had failed her friends, but Jax quickly spoke up telling her that he was willing to join. Jax reminded her that the deal wasn't to beat him, but to impress him, and that's exactly what she did during the end of the duel. He also states that this is one of the reasons he stepped down, to find challenging opponents that aren't part of the Pro Dueling Circuit, as he has only ever faced the same exact opponents in the championship matches for his former title. So what better way to find new opponents than to join the lowest ranked agency and build up their reputation. While initially dumbfounded, Pomni was in the end glad to hear that he would be joining. She also made a vow to Jax saying that he may have won today, but next time will be different. Jax only chuckled saying to bring it on anytime.
