(A/N): Lily rejoins the group down in the common room, and the group talk about Elaine's good mood, and what- or who- might have caused it.

Elaine

Lily rejoined us in the common room as we were chatting with the boys- well, Marlene was chatting with James, rather loudly and about Quidditch, and Alice was chatting with Peter, rather quietly and about... cabbages? But Mary and Sirius were too busy having a battle with only their mouths as weapons to do much talking. Remus had immediately followed my lead in nervously waiting for Lily to get back- maybe he had heard her parting words about us 'tangling tongues', or maybe he had just picked up on my nerves, but either way, it was happening.

"Did you get it?" I asked, and she patted her school bag as she gave me a suspiciously knowing grin.

"Yup! Got everything I needed." ...That wasn't what I had asked, but I brushed away my feelings of apprehension- I was in too much of a good mood to let Lily possibly acting weird get in my way.

"That's great! Breakfast?" Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Remus' eyebrows furrow, even as the corner of his lips quirk up as if he couldn't help but smile.

"What's got you so..." He paused for a second, clearly trying to find an adjective befitting my current demeanor. "Sunshine-y?" Hmm, was that fitting? I felt like 'sunshine-y' might be more apt to describe one of Leo's good moods, but I wasn't interested in arguing with Remus about this- especially not right now, with Lily's eyes on us.

"Mm, only a letter from a certain blonde haired, blue eyed, lion named boy." Lily said, and Remus cocked an eyebrow at me, but his expression was nothing but fond.

"So, good news then?" I opened my mouth to offer some sort of reply, but Lily beat me to it, which is exactly what I was afraid of.

"Oh, yes. Very good news, I would say." Remus' face scrunched up, clearly somewhat confused by Lily's vehement declaration.

"It- it's complicated." I told him. "We should head down to breakfast, or we're going to miss it." Lily pouted- legitimately pouted- and Sirius finally separated himself from Mary at the mention of breakfast.

"Good idea, I'm famished!" I rolled my eyes at him- though his puppy dog-like enthusiasm made it nigh impossible to appear anything less than fond of him.

"That's not surprising, considering the way you were just trying to devour Mary's face." His eyebrows furrowed, but right as he opened his mouth to utter some sort of retort- probably a good one, knowing Sirius- Lily spoke up.

"And you'd know all about trying to eat someone's face, wouldn't you, Elaine?" I glared at her as hard as I could- but it was to no avail. She just continued to look smug, too proud of herself to be affected by my displeasure, and I did my best to avoid Remus' gaze- which, unfortunately, James noticed, the way James tended to do.

"Oh, is this about the time I caught Remus and Elaine snogging in-" He cut himself off, clearly remembering that most people didn't know that the Room of Requirement existed. "-the Library?" Lily's eyebrows shot up, and she wasn't the only one.

"Remus, you dog! Get it in, son!" Immediately after he said it, Sirius seemed to realise that it was me he was talking about as the other half of the equation, and his face screwed up, like even if he was repulsed by the thought, he was still ultimately rather proud.

The hand he had slapped down on Remus' shoulder was eyed with a level of disdain that made even Sirius hesitate, and there was no way the other girls missed the uncomfortable undercurrent in the air. The knew something had happened between Remus and Sirius that had damaged their relationship- and the entire dynamic of the group- but they had no clue as to what the real reason might be.

Sure, they all had their theories- Mary thought maybe Sirius had slept with Remus's sister, and even after being reminded that not only was Remus an only child, but Sirius had had no opportunity to leave school, she still thought her theory was sound. Marlene thought maybe Sirius had- accidentally or purposely- ruined one of Remus's belongings- and a book or his favorite jumper were the most popular suggestions so far.

Alice's theory was the closest to the truth- she reasoned that Sirius wouldn't sleep with any relative of Remus's- unless maybe he didn't know they were related to begin with- and he wouldn't purposely destroy anything of Remus's- and Remus would have forgiven him if it had been an accident. She did, however, continue on to say that Sirius was, at times, a hot headed, reckless person, who tended to react emotionally before logic ever had a chance to catch up- she thought that maybe Sirius had let something slip that Remus hadn't wanted people to know- or had said something he hadn't thought through, and Remus couldn't tolerate.

Mary concurred that Sirius was sometimes unthinkingly hurtful- but that it was also impossible to stay mad at him for very long.

"Well, looks like now we know when another one of those, 'once or twice' moments were." Mary said brightly, and I rolled my eyes at the whole damn group. Why did all of my friends have to be obsessed with my love life? Had the gossip well really run that dry?

"Actually, I meant the fact that Elaine let it slip that not only has she snogged Remus 'once or twice', she's also snogged Leo, 'once or twice'." James, Sirius and Peter's eyebrows shot up, but Remus's eyebrows didn't, and unfortunately for both of us, this fact did not go unnoticed.

"You snogged-" Mary cut Sirius' incredulous question off with a question of her own.

"Yeah, and Remus isn't surprised. What do you know, Casanova?" Remus glared at her- which wasn't much of a glare. Remus' glares were always fairly weak, unless he was genuinely furious- like he had been after the last full moon. He glanced back at me, clearly looking for advice on how to handle this, but I had no idea how to get us out of this in any sort of timely manner.

The fact that Leo didn't have to be here to endure this was supremely unfair- but it probably would have been a coin toss as to how he would have chosen to tackle it. Either running away from the problem- probably somewhat literally- or just outright, brazenly telling the truth, and out embarrassing those making the mistake of interrogating us. Seeing no better option, I decided to take a page out of his playbook.

"Remus is aware of the fact that Leo and I have snogged, because among other things, there was a point where I was snogging Leo, and he passed me directly to Remus, who I then continued to snog, in front of Leo."

Silence.

Blessed, incredulous- somewhat awkward- silence.

"I'm sorry, but-" Lily started, and James finished for her with, "What?!"

Sirius was, predictably, the first to recover.

"Get it in, Laney!"

Everyone else: '...What. The. Hell?!'

Sirius: *excited for Elaine that she snogged someone, even if it WAS both Leo, and Remus*
