Chapter 1.5: The Beginning
The cat's eyes glinted in the dim light. "I'm Morgana, and if you want to escape, you'll need to listen carefully."
The strangeness of the situation only deepened, sure you already knew a bit about him since you've played some part of the original persona game but seeing him in real life in person was trippy as hell but with no other options, you nodded. "Okay, Morgana. What do we need to do?"
Morgana's eyes glinted with determination. "Firstly, I have to get you out of here."
You nodded, and Flash, though bewildered, didn't argue. Morgana leaped up to the cell bars, his claws gleaming. With a swift motion, he slashed through the iron bars, the metal shrieking as it gave way.
"Whoa," Flash muttered, eyes wide. "You're one hell of a cat."
Morgana smirked, his tail flicking. "I'm not just any cat. Now, follow me and stay quiet. We need to avoid the knights patrolling this place."
You slipped through the gap Morgana created, Flash close behind. The dimly lit corridor stretched out before you, ominous and silent except for the distant clanking of armor. Morgana led the way, his small form darting from shadow to shadow with uncanny agility.
As you crouched behind a large stone pillar, Flash couldn't hold back his curiosity any longer. "Where are we, anyway? This place... it looks like some twisted version of the school."
Morgana turned to face you both, his expression serious. "We're in a Palace. It's a manifestation of someone's distorted desires, created within the Metaverse."
"The Meta-what?" Flash asked, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"The Metaverse," Morgana explained. "It's a realm formed from the collective unconscious of humanity. People with strong, distorted desires create Palaces here. This one belongs to Kamoshida, and it reflects his twisted view of the school."
Flash looked skeptical. "So you're telling me we're in some kind of alternate dimension because that creep Kamoshida has a warped sense of reality?"
"Precisely," Morgana said. "This place is dangerous. We need to escape before we're caught."
Flash shook his head, disbelief evident. "This is insane. None of this makes any sense!"
"Whether you believe it or not doesn't change the fact that we're here," Morgana retorted, his voice low but sharp.
You stepped between them, trying to keep your voice calm. "Guys, can we save the arguing for later? We need to get out of here first."
Both Flash and Morgana grumbled but fell silent. You continued to move through the castle, avoiding the knights as best you could. The tension was palpable, but you pressed on, the exit drawing closer with each step.
"There it is," Morgana whispered, pointing to a large wooden door at the end of the corridor. "That's our way out."
You and Flash nodded, your hearts pounding with anticipation. As you approached the door, you could almost taste freedom. But just as your fingers brushed the handle, a chilling voice echoed through the hallway.
"Did you really think you could escape?"
Kamoshida emerged from the shadows, his eyes blazing with malice. Before you could react, he lunged at you, knocking you to the ground. Flash tried to fight back but was quickly overpowered, Kamoshida's strength far greater than anticipated.
Morgana leaped at Kamoshida, claws extended. "Leave them alone!"
Kamoshida swatted Morgana aside with brutal force, sending him crashing into a wall. The small cat groaned, struggling to rise.
Flash, bleeding and battered, tried to get up but was kicked back down by Kamoshida. You struggled under his grip, but it was futile. His strength was overwhelming.
Kamoshida sneered down at you, his grip on your arm tightening painfully. "Knights! Take these pests back to the dungeons. Let them rot for their insolence."
Two armored knights grabbed you, yanking you to your feet. You struggled against their iron grip, but it was futile. Morgana, still dazed from the impact, tried to stand but was quickly restrained by another knight. Flash, bleeding and furious, was dragged up, but something in him snapped.
"Let go of me!" Flash roared, ripping free from the knights with a surge of strength. He charged at Kamoshida, slamming into him with all his might. "You bastard! You think you can get away with this?"
Kamoshida stumbled back, shock flashing across his face. Flash's fists rained down, each punch driven by pure rage. "You... sick... twisted... piece... of... trash!"
Kamoshida's shock quickly turned to fury. "How dare you!" he bellowed, his face contorting in anger. Two knights rushed forward, grabbing Flash and pulling him off Kamoshida. Flash struggled, still yelling, "I'll take you down, Kamoshida! I'll take you down!"
Kamoshida's face twisted with rage. He stomped his foot, throwing a massive tantrum. "You think you can defy me? You think you can beat me?" He kicked a nearby suit of armor, sending it crashing to the ground.
You couldn't take it anymore. "Just shut the fucking hell up!" you shouted with all your strength, your eyes brimming with hate as you glared at the disheveled looking Kamoshida who froze up and stared at you in disbelief. 'I shouldn't have said that' you thought to yourself as slowly, he turned towards you, his expression shifting into a cruel smile. He ignored Flash, who was still yelling at him, trying to break free from the knight's grip.
"What did you say, Worm?" Kamoshida asked, his voice dangerously quiet. Flash seeing the situation you were in yelled even louder at the enraged man, "Hey! Come back and face me, you coward!" but still Kamoshida paid him no mind. He simply grabbed a sword from one of his knights and pointed it at you, the blades tip inches from your face.
"Say that again," Kamoshida demanded, his smile widening into something grotesque as a maddening gleam overtook his gaze.
"I.."
"Silence!"
You tried to utter but he quickly slashed the sword at you with a sickening roar causing you to recoil in pain as blood dripped from your sliced cheeks. Kamoshida smirks at your pained expression as he points the sword this time, at your neck. You gritted your teeth at that, as you tried your best to hide your fear, Kamoshida didn't seem to care as he turned around and walked towards Flash.
Tossing the sword of his to the ground he skams Flash face first into the ground with a stomp. With a smug grin he then commanded, "Execute this brat. He's been too much of a nuisance to me, after him we'll deal with the pathetic trash over there."
'Fuck, fuck, fuck. I have to do something.' Your mind blanked on what to do as you struggled to escape the burly knight's grip. You could only stare helplessly with tears almost creeping up as you watched as a Knight rose its sword ready to behead Flash.
What's the matter...? Are you simply going to watch? Are you forsaking him to save yourself? Death awaits him if you do nothing
You struggled harder as a sharp pain shot through your skull. A strange voice whispered into your ear, as an unexplainable feeling asailed your body. You shivered, roared and thrashed around as the headache continuously worsened.
Was your previous decision a mistake then?
'It might have been…' You tried your best to answer as you shook your head in agony.
No need for mere words. Show me your true feelings. Show me your conviction!
"Kamoshida!!!" You yelled through the pain as the air thickened at your behest. Soon enough a vast gust of wind picked up, releasing you from your captor's grip. The person in question that you'd called turned to look at you with contempt and annoyance but you didn't mind. You've already decided on your path.
Very well... I have heeded your resolve. Vow to me.
"I am thou…"
Thou art I... Thou who art willing to stand for justice, to right the wrongs of this world! Call upon my name, and let your noble rage burn bright! Show the strength of your will to uphold righteousness, even in the face of adversity!
You felt a great strain on your face as you clutched the beautifully designed red mask on your face, a smile made its way up your expression as you clutched and ripped the mask without a problem. As blood spilled on the floor, the entire room became illuminated with the azure flames that engulfed your body, the surrounding knights besides you were immediately ripped to shreds as a vast shockwave sent Kamoshida, Morgana, Flash and his executioner flying away.
"I call upon you. Robin Hood!" Your attire was transformed into a dress of regal bearing, a blood red cloak burst from your back as a noble attire, intricately sown abd embroidered tightened upon your form. Your eyes glowed with golden fevor as you grinned at the terrified Kamoshida.
"Let's end this!"
